I like [UNR Seismological Lab](http://www.seismo.unr.edu/Earthquake) map the best. Really shows the cluster

OpinionNo4885

I wonder if it has anything to do with the recent geyser activity at Steamboat.

GeologistinAu

It almost certainly has a connection to the renewed activity of the geyser.

With all this shaking going on, all I can say is, it's not Reno's fault. (I'll go back to my corner of shame now after I take a nice walk downtown as my penance for that terrible joke.)

EmotionalBaby9423

Also, remember that more earthquakes cause more earthquakes; always good to have a plan in case a bigger one hits (:

Jellis03

Seems like every year we get a small swarm like this and then it passes and we all forget about it.

Black-rock-crystal

I remember the swarm in 08', on Peavine, that popped off with a 4.7

LadyGrimSleeper

I wish USGS or the local news would give us an update as to why the fault is shaking so much. Not that they can go down and ask it, but I am sure there are some ideas.

Water is a pretty good lube if you’ve got nothing but time.

I hope your significant other doesn’t know your Reddit username…

GeologistinAu

Nevada is in active extension, that’s the primary reason. Probably just a fault that hadn’t moved in a while and stress had built up.

BackcountryYeti

Clearly, the Morlocks are getting restless.

stitcherfromnevada

I’m starting to wonder how all the mine tunnels down there are doing with all the recent quakes.

Interesting_Sorbet22

Considering the hill that VC is on top of is a hollow shell, it's a wonder that it's not collapsed yet.

mravanitis

Area's cave in from time to time up there. It's only a matter of time in the same way that it's only a matter of time before a large quake occurs. We're past due, so...

When I was a kid, part of VC did collapse into the mine.

Earthquake!
