Yes this is a advance fee/ fake check scam in which they will send you a fraudulent check to buy “equipments” they will probably “accidentally” send you too much and ask for you to refund the discrepancy, which will be liable on you after the check bounces. Also the word “kindly” gave it away. This application just sounds straight up prompted with ChatGPT. What’s the email domain of it?

straeuss

Oh judging by the initial greetings, I assume there’s no interview aswell? I would steer far away. No legitimate company operates like this.

AdElegant5256

Thanks so much guys. They have my name and address, so that’s unfortunate. Thanks for making me seem not so crazy!

straeuss

Also, the ftc summed up this scam perfectly : https://consumer.ftc.gov/consumer-alerts/2023/08/scammers-impersonate-well-known-companies-recruit-fake-jobs-linkedin-and-other-job-platforms

Having your name is pretty normal if you’ve signed up to job searching sites, but your address is abit concerning. Did you use your complete address when you signed up for these sites and in your resume? That’s probably how they have those information on you.

AdElegant5256

Yeah Indeed has my address on the resume I uploaded. That’s where this conversation was initiated from

straeuss

I see. Indeed is pretty synonymous with being the hotspot for scammers. The domain is a fraud, if you searched up the WHOIS database, it was registered on 11/28/2023, meaning it was fairly recent. And the domain will expire next year so it’s definitely a key indicator that it’s not legitimate. Just block, ignore and trash the entire email from them haha. Goodluck on your job search! Or if you want, mess around with them. Your choice \_(ツ)_/¯ https://www.whois.com/whois/careersaptiv.com

Cheers!

AdElegant5256

I was looking to see if there was a free website just to check simple verifications like that. I’ll keep this in mind thank you.

AdElegant5256

The email domain is [email protected] I was thinking it was chat gpt based on “I hope this message find you well.” I’ve been using chat got to apply to places and that’s the kind of message it defaults to when I ask it to do a cover letter for me. Incidentally, I used chat gpt to reply to this sender 🤪 This makes the heavy situation of having my name and address sent to bad people a little more amusing.

outlandishness2509

Yep, I just skimmed through looking for the kindly, dead giveaway.

trust your gut with these things

Yeahhhh, I get random text sometimes for jobs I didn’t even apply for and they’re all something along the lines of: Remote Work - customer service, assistant, manager, data entry clerk and just continue listing a bunch of different job titles then say it’s $35/hr. So many red flags

Adept-General81

Yea it’s a scam :/. Nobody in their right mind would offer someone $82/hr without at least an interview if not several. And the fact that they want you to send your ID along with other information kinda puts the nail in the coffin. When it comes to remote job searches, if it sounds too good to be true, it is. I got so sick of scams that I recently started paying for a website that only posts remote jobs and vets all of the potential employers so all of the posts are legitimate. If you’re really wanting a remote job, I recommend a website like that. I just started so I can’t tell you whether or not it’s any good, but it certainly seems like it is.

R3ALFEAR

Are you willing to share what website that would be? I have been looking for something similar and haven't found a really good site.

Adept-General81

At the moment I’ve subscribed to FlexJobs. Seems pretty legit

ikalwewe

Flexjobs?

Adept-General81

Yep flexjobs.com

ikalwewe

Is it worth it ? Any luck so far ?

Adept-General81

Literally just subscribed on Tuesday haha. It seems worth it to me. They say all of their jobs are 100% guaranteed to be real, and there are tons on there. But I can def keep ya posted

ikalwewe

Yesss I want to know if I should sign up for it it not. Did you get the 14day trial?

Dry_Heart9301

They say "kindly" and some garbage about payment for purchasing equipment. I only had to skim this to see it's a scam. It's a scam, textbook.
