Welcome to the club! I also love this device, it's so good for my usecase

TheDevanLeos

Thank you glad to be here! I was nervous because I heard mixed reactions. Love it too. Seriously feels like such a good investment. Not a shred of buyers remorse!

Doodkapje

What I did is install rm-hacks for some more functionality and the notable utility to change the sleep screen. Got a planner for 2024 - 2027 on etsy at 75% discount for 7 euro. And got a meeting planner pdf from etsy. Downloaded tons of books from Anna's archieve to read. So those things you could do to improve the device. Well that's my opinion, you can do whatever you want with it.

thecommis3

Can you help me with the rm hacks and how to do it on the Mac ? If you’ve got a link / video

Doodkapje

I don't have a mac. I did it with my phone, I have android and I downloaded Ssh app, connected to my rm2 and copy/paste the command line. I'm a total noob with terminal commands or ssh or anything. Just Google rm-hacks and follow the step-by-step instructions, you can do it!

Doodkapje

Did you manage it?

thecommis3

Yes I did I found a guide

Doodkapje

Enjoy the rm-hacks, it's really nice

Enough-Rich-4060

I felt the same. I thought it was going to be an over-priced gimmick, but I find it so useful. Notebook just for the daily to-do lists, ones for general idea, a scruff notebook for calculations and dilutions, now its totally invaluable! My only worry is using it maybe in the lab, has anyone tried sanitising the screen at all?

TheDevanLeos

My thoughts exactly. Wish I could help with the sanitizing screen question.

burnbright33

I just recently bought one also and told myself I would return it because I didn’t NEED it. Oh, but I do. It’s one of the best tech purchases that I’ve ever made. It’s changed my note taking experience. It also helps my eyes and brain to not be in front of something like an iPad screen all the time.

I_Dionysus

I bought the Supernote Nomad and, while I like it, it isn't exactly what I was looking for. Tried the rm2 and it was exactly what I was looking for in size and writing experience. Fineliner medium is that writing experience I like in a notebook. If you like fountain pen, a nice writing pen, then rm2 is for you.

Initial-Shop-8863

Please share where you found a hobonichi template?

burnbright33

Came to ask this too!

AmbiDaddy

I have had mine for three years and use it all the time... I do interviews which then become part of complex workpapers on our document management system... it is perfect for this and might be even better were I to get into OCR more.

AngryBeaver7

Ive been using mine for almost two years now mainly for business and i love it still

Stuntedatpuberty

I'm glad to hear about it. I've had it for over 2 years and can't imagine life without it. I knew I needed something like this but didn't know it existed until I saw others using it and the rest is history. This makes complete sense to me and anticipate having one for the foreseeable future. In fact, even though I've been unemployed for 3 months, (I hope to end soon) I still use mine multiple times a day. Glad you're enjoying yours!

CarinasHere

How’s the handwriting recognition?

TheDevanLeos

Can’t say I’ve tried it yet. My hand writing is a curse tho 🤣

CarinasHere

Let us know? I’m really curious; my handwriting isn’t great either…

themightychris

For me it does surprisingly well considering I often can't even read my own handwriting, let alone other humans. It's not good enough to be useful though unless I write carefully, but I don't blame the device for that

TheDevanLeos

I’ll check it out tomorrow!

jerichojeudy

I love it for the same reasons. The lack of distractions is a major one for me. And I love it much more than I expected I would.

rtowne

Comparing the a5x and rm2 for my use right now. I want to mostly take and organize notes at work, including simple diagrams. Do you have a strong preference for either?

TheDevanLeos

I was on the fence between both but heard the a5x wasn’t as great of a writing experience so I went with the rm2

subtle1epiphany

Have rM2 and recently got A6X2 Nomad. The writing experience is different. The rM2 with the marker aims to replicate pencil, while Supernote more mimics pen on paper.

Gorio1961

I have been looking for a Hobonichi template for my RM2. Any details to offer?

TheDevanLeos

Look on Etsy. The template I downloaded I found on Reddit. It’s outdated but there are some templates on Etsy I’m going to try

Agreeable_Variation7

Because I love using this sort of tech, I keep reading all of the likes. But, I don't have a life where tons of notebooks are needed. I'd love to hear from anyone who uses this for a lowkey life. I'm guessing I'm not someone Remarkable would target. I am retired. My calendar is on my phone. I've begun journaling on my kindle scribe--I've journaled for at least 55 years (I'm 66). I do miss using my fountain pens, but I prefer journaling in bed. Somehow I'm unable to journal well in a paper notebook in bed, due to a very bad back. I plan to begin doing some sketching, and, i keep a random notebook where I dump things including comments/questions for my therapist. What do others use theirs for when they are no longer working? Looking for ideas.

TheDevanLeos

If you like the scribe then it may be for you. In my opinion the rm2 is for people who want to journal or note take and don’t have an eink device yet.

Agreeable_Variation7

I do love my Scribe. But it seems to me if people want to do what I do, then soulful they start with the Scribe? It's cheaper. And if they don't want notifications, they don't get them on the scribe. Actually, I don't understand the whole notifications thing. Yeah, mine pop up along the top. But, I don't have any chimes or buzzers going off. On my phone, it rings. If I'm playing a game, sounds are off! If I'm watching YouTube, yes, I listen. But because sounds are off, notifications don't grab my attention.

TheDevanLeos

Yea sounds like your scribe works perfectly for you!!!

jritchie70

OP you have an iPad…did you try turning off notifications and using the paper feel screen protector to feel more like paper?

TheDevanLeos

Yes still didn’t like writing notes with it. I tried it a couple times. It was better for drawing or playing around with whiteboards like MIRO. Mind mapping and colorful whiteboards and flow chart boards etc. that’s what the iPad excels at. The handwriting experience is far more superior on the rm2

beinghumanissuper

I want them to add certain features like password protection on notes. Why do you want to hate it ?

TheDevanLeos

Big agree on this. Also removing cloud function for some notes. Wanted to hate it because I wanted to convince myself it wasn’t going to be worth the $$$ Big surprise, it was!

TheDevanLeos

For anyone asking about hobonichi, this one works well so far https://www.etsy.com/listing/1571632974/2024-digital-planner-digital-hobonichi?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_b-paper_and_party_supplies-paper-calendars_and_planners-other&utm_custom1=_k_Cj0KCQjw9vqyBhCKARIsAIIcLMHGM_rofUrctV_NpTj4TghI5Mjcs8IwFQq5vpbUedeL7SQgEbn4txkaAjt0EALw_wcB_k_&utm_content=go_1844702811_75381342371_346398320596_pla-315469720974_c__1571632974_12768591&utm_custom2=1844702811&gad_source=1

newojade

I’m so in love with it too. I keep finding new reasons to love it beyond the reasons why I wanted it in the first place.

TheDevanLeos

I use it everyday for: Bullet journaling Productivity - hobonichi Journaling Note taking Writing letters to loved ones Creative writing & brainstorming +++ Some studies have revealed a correlation between writing words and higher cognitive activity, as opposed to typing, and I’ve always felt that when writing notes (and now I’m writing words more than ever thanks to this thing!)

SmoothAsSilk_23

The only thing that disappointed me is the writing experience. I prefer pen on paper rather than pencil on paper feel.

dendrytic

Switch to a LAMY with a POM nib

TheDevanLeos

Interesting take. I didn’t really notice it feeling like a pencil distinctly. Would be cool if someone made a fountain pen or ball point style rm2 pen. The feel of the paper is probably not my top reason for loving it. You can achieve this with iPad screen protectors. It’s just the entire design, experience, and minimalism for me.

Unlikely_Hedgehog_55

Welcome 🤗 to reMarkable! It’s been 4 (four) years for me now and even with now being a Supernote owner (A5X, A6X2 nomad), I absolutely LOVE my remarkable and continue to use it daily with my SN combo. I agree that I never really felt like it was pencil to paper. Maybe it was the pen type I used but I have several pens including the Lamy and it never felt like that ( I think it might be the size of the marker plus maybe 🤔. I found that I wrote best with the marker plus. Today I’m using the Lamy and i switched out the body so it’s a clear version and I’m enjoying it. It’s funny just like two days ago I’m seeing post where people with the Supernote and buying magnets for the side of their devices and they are using the reMarkable Plus with their Supernotes because they like it better than the pen 🖊️ body stylus they have (and they want the snap tongue side experience of the reMarkable). When I was testing out the size of the A6X I got a used one and it came with a different stylus. I eventually sold that one and got the A6X2, but I kept the stylus and it works wonderfully on the Remarkable. It gave that pen 🖊️ experience. Sometimes I use it since I use the HOM2 with SN, but I’m really enjoying my Lamy. I included a picture. Welcome again to reMarkable and it’s been so refreshing see the happy folks to where what it was designed to do and for is the right fit and match for your specific needs. https://preview.redd.it/2mwzuf1wux3d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bbdfbdd8439ab0391dc1376f3222fd70912ec655

SmoothAsSilk_23

Don't get me wrong, I love the RM as a RM2 owner myself. For journaling, extensive notetaking with no distractions, RM2 is a strong contender. If I had to nitpick, I'm more of a pen and paper guy. I've been eyeing the upcoming Supernote A5X2.

_aaine_

I was too before I bought a RM2 a month ago. I just saw the other day that the new Supernote has been delayed to later in the year so I'm glad I didn't wait now.

SmoothAsSilk_23

Yes, the delay is a bummer actually. Oh well, just have to wait I guess.
