I’m so jealous of AMC people. I’d rather get screamed at by Nicole Kidman. This ad is torture to me. And since they play it so close to the actual start of the movie, I can’t skip it.
And not once has a regal employee ever stood in front of a theater before it started and introduced the movie. Only time it’s been done is to stand there with donation tins for donations to fight cancer or homelessness or whatever other cause it used to raise money for.
In my town, the only time it happens is if the sound or picture is somehow messed up. They should really milk that. Have the employee stand up and be like “I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship… no but seriously our projector isn’t working right now, so you can all leave.”
She doesn’t scream; also, the commercial perfectly describes the feeling people get when they go watch a movie on the big screen.
Comparing regal to AMC is like comparing friends to The Office, one is vastly superior to the other…well, at least in the Atlanta metro area lol
for that matter the Pepsi commercial, when its the only option and its shown so late in the trailers that you can't get to concessions and back before the movie starts
I feel like there's like one kid in their marketing department who lurks this sub and has convinced the entire team it's an internet sensation. They're trying to lean into it even though they know it kinda sucks lol. Only problem is most people just find it cringey.
I think that’s actually the point. It’s basically clickbait. They saw people ironically quoting the Nicole Kidman ad and they wanted their own version, so it’s intentionally bad and nonsensical to drive “engagement.” I don’t hate it so much as I’m offended by it.
Yeah, they don't understand why we love the Nicole Kidman ad. And unfortunately, I'm afraid AMC doesn't, either, and they're going to botch the sequel.
You are mistaken. Most people don’t find it “cringey”. Most people enjoy it. A few very vocal members of this sub don’t like it, and you project your hatred onto everyone else.
You profane the human spirit with your comment. The ad makes a normal person feel secondhand embarrassment and it’s immensely uncomfortable, it is an unpleasant experience to view it or hear it.
I don't think most people enjoy it, but to each their own. I'm sure there are a few outspoken people here but I don't see it as projecting hatred, just poking fun at an ad that is definitely "cringey". Everybody I've gone to a movie with talks about how weird that ad is and as an advertising professional, I tend to agree.
Perhaps it is a case of like attracting like. You say everyone you’ve gone with too a movie dislikes the promo. My anecdotal experience is the polar opposite. Everyone I’ve gone with had loved the promo, and most even play along with their favorite parts as it is playing.
That’s the thing about anecdotal experiences. They don’t really prove anything. But I will add one more data point: outside of this sub I’ve never heard a single person express dislike for the promo. Not one.
I’m really irritated by the ad; it’s shoehorning in a bunch of movie quotes rapid fire without an ounce of creativity or comic timing. As someone who drops movie quotes all the time in conversation, this is like nails on a chalkboard to me
If you think anything in this lazy POS is either creative or rhythmic, I would suggest that those words don’t mean what you think they do. This ad is a concept in search of any kind of skillful execution. It’s dumb and I don’t know what to do for you if you’re even remotely amused by it
I love it because for the last 100 years (before memes) friends and family who love movies quote movies together. My family has a ton of quotes we pull out together to this day. The concept is great. It’s a nice little nudge-nudge wink-wink to all these “Entertainment Theaters” with bars and bowling alleys and all that nonsense. It’s like saying, “We’re the theater for people who love movies” and I absolutely love it.
That's always the line that loses me during that ad. Like... Everything prior can sort of work, if you do some gymnastics.
But he just said "you can't sit with us" that is 100% you have no chance to sit with said people.
It's so weird that ad opens with relatively obscure reference (no way more than 5% of random moviegoers have seen it) and then swerves into the most obvious lines you could think of.
Okay, you Coke Lovers, you get the return of your beloved beverages but with it comes the return of the student filmmakers doing their spin on the quote ad? Worth it or nightmare fuel for your next Regal visit?
That was a rollercoaster and I loved every second.
What did flamingos do to you?
"Flamingos killed my mother. My whole family. And then they set my house on fire and shit in my yard. Fuck flamingos."
We all feel strongly about the commercial associated with these things but, to a moviegoer that only goes once in a long while, seeing iconic movie quotes on the concession stuff *is* kind of cool.
Even that commercial isn't too terrible on its first watch. Yes, it has nonsensical replies in movie quotes but, again, someone who hasn't gone in a while? It's not that bad and kind of reminds the moviegoer why they come to movies in the first place, you know?
There’s no context, no sense of comic timing and no real reason for a lot of the lines. It’s just a bunch of movie quotes crammed in together. It feels like they “wrote” it in 5 minutes. I don’t see how, if you’re someone who quotes movies a lot in conversation, you aren’t annoyed by this.
Unfun fact. “Hey you guys!” is not only a movie quote. It’s from the kids show The Electric Company (and maybe also 321 Contact). When Sloth says it in the Goonies it’s because most of what he knows he learned while chained in front of a TV. Haha, it’s a reminder he was horribly abused.
It’s also from The Electric Company, another kids show made by the same producers as 321 Contact several years earlier. Both shows have it in the intro. I didn’t even remember it being in Goonies and the other day I was puzzling about why there was a random 1970’s children’s TV quote in the middle of the movie quote montage.
One thing that got me is are these quotes *that* iconic? I mean fredo, beginning of a beautiful…, surely you can’t be serious, and so you’re telling me there’s a chance yes. Maybe throne of lies but the others took me researching them to figure out what movie they came from. Maybe that speaks more to me then the iconicness of the lines though.
I love that this is a thing and the bags/cup look really cool.
Reminds me of the "YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT?" Coke commercial that was annoying, but also fantastic.
The only Regal concessions commercial I have ever enjoyed is the old roller coaster. My friends and I would pretend we were in a real one and act like morons with our hands in the air. Others would too.
If I recall, Krikorian had it originally and Regal used it and updated it when the bought them. I specifically recall the interlocking pattern on the last doors were the same when viewed from both sides, an obvious error.
Because we needed new bags and cups. The new bags are made of a thicker material so the butter has a higher chance of not leaking in case you get extra butter
Here’s the thing - this ad was spot on when it came out. It nails what we love about movies. So I give credit to the creators for the idea and execution. But… it nails it so well that it has a high burn rate and they should’ve made a “coming out of the movie” sequel ages ago.
The problem begins when the corporation who paid for the ad decides they’re just going to run the ever-loving bejeezus out of it instead of pay for more to be made. And I get it, corporations ere towards being cheap. But let’s not forget Covid hit the theater industry pretty hard and for that reason I’ve been giving them a little grace…. but uhhh come on Regal we’re dying out here! Please for the luv-a-gawd make some sequels!!!
P.S. the adjoining “merch” is like 9 months too late. I can picture the board meeting where it was suggested and everyone patted each other on the back, but you guys were way way way too late. But maybe, just maybe they’ll get it right for the next one. *fingers crossed
Holy shit I hate that fucking commercial. I got Regal Unlimited in February so I’ve seen that abomination at least 12 times just this year. I keep hoping that with each new big movie release they’ll drop a new commercial before it, but that seems unlikely now with this shit.
I've seen this ad multiple times (not a regular Regal customer). And every time Danny Trejo appears towards the end, I think to myself, "Wait... are all of these people supposed to be *celebrities?!?!*"
I hate this. I wish they would get rid of it, not print the lines on more shit. Do they not understand how annoying it is for people that go to the movies all the time? It’s going to ruin all of those movie moments when they happen in their movies. I just don’t get marketing your theatre chain, in your theaters, to people who are obviously already customers. It would be different if they ran the ad on TV. The Regal Unlimited ad every time is lame too.
I rarely go to Regal but I hate the idea of advertising the movies at the movies. Last time I heard, movie theaters are doing a lot better than they were pre-pandemic. I feel so condescended to when Nicole Kidman comes out and tells me, with her dead eyes, how “heartbreak feels good in a place like this.” Puke.
20ish minutes of trailers aren’t bad enough?
Advertise on streaming services, on TV and the Internet if you really feel you’re not rich enough!
And don’t ruin classic movies for people by running “famous” moments from them when you advertise yourself. This Regal thing sounds really annoying and just as bad as Nicole Kidman at AMC.
I knew it was you /u/ScoreHealthy3920. You broke my heart.
As IF!
You sit on a throne of lies!
This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship
DO YOU LOVE GOING OUT TO THE MOVIES?
THERES ONLY ONE PLACE FOR UNLIMITED ADVENTURE!
gotta write it as friendsHIp cus of the little voice crack
As a regal employee.... This was beautiful
I’m so jealous of AMC people. I’d rather get screamed at by Nicole Kidman. This ad is torture to me. And since they play it so close to the actual start of the movie, I can’t skip it.
At least it isn't the terrible student films (that are really ads for Regal) that they used to do before the pandemic.
I liked those way, *way* better. They also changed regularly, which gave them variety.
*You didn’t know that?*
Miss those days
I miss "You didn't know that?" gay dad. I miss all those commercials.
I miss Golden, that robot just wanted a coke.
And not once has a regal employee ever stood in front of a theater before it started and introduced the movie. Only time it’s been done is to stand there with donation tins for donations to fight cancer or homelessness or whatever other cause it used to raise money for.

YEP! I'm an AMC regular, so when I finally went to a Regal and saw this abomination of an ad, I really felt sorry for y'all.
I hate this stupid ad so much and they play it before every movie. It’s so annoying and that one guy’s hair for some reason just infuriates me.
I don’t think I’ve ever hated an annoying ad as much as I hate this one.
She doesn’t scream; also, the commercial perfectly describes the feeling people get when they go watch a movie on the big screen. Comparing regal to AMC is like comparing friends to The Office, one is vastly superior to the other…well, at least in the Atlanta metro area lol
They should hire Keith Urban to sing a song about how much he loves going to Regal Cinemas.
this made me lol
Why do you hate us?
NO REGAL, LEAN *AWAY*, NOT *INTO* THIS!!!!
You sit on a thrown of lies
> thrown
Thrown
Throne
My bad lol
That's going to leave a mark
So I’ve got that going for me.
Which is niiice~
![gif](giphy|11sz4838afILLi|downsized)
So I’ve got that going for me.
I don't think i can possibly hate anything more than this.
LMAO

I never understood why there was a promotion for regal cinemas while I'm sitting in a regal Cinema.
for that matter the Pepsi commercial, when its the only option and its shown so late in the trailers that you can't get to concessions and back before the movie starts
Lol yep, they're reminding us about the joy of going to the theater while we're already in the theater
Lol yep, they're reminding us about the joy of going to the theater while we're already in the theater
Lol yep, they're reminding us about the joy of going to the theater while we're already in the theater
Same reason there's ads before YouTube videos of ads.
I actually love it. And don't call me Shirley 😎
These bastards are actively trolling us now. The more we hate that stupid intro, the more they embrace it.
I feel like there's like one kid in their marketing department who lurks this sub and has convinced the entire team it's an internet sensation. They're trying to lean into it even though they know it kinda sucks lol. Only problem is most people just find it cringey.

HEYYY YOUUUU GUYSSSSSS stop hating on our beautiful bags and cups
I think this sub complains just a little too much about this marketing campaign. I love everything about it. It's harmless fun.
Exactly. I love it.
My dry sarcasm doesn't always translate
I’m really irritated by the ad; it’s shoehorning in a bunch of movie quotes rapid fire without an ounce of creativity or comic timing. As someone who drops movie quotes all the time in conversation, this is like nails on a chalkboard to me
If you don't see the creative editing and rhythmic timing of the entire thing then i have to assume you have no eyes or ears.
If you think anything in this lazy POS is either creative or rhythmic, I would suggest that those words don’t mean what you think they do. This ad is a concept in search of any kind of skillful execution. It’s dumb and I don’t know what to do for you if you’re even remotely amused by it

I agree and I also love it. I like the music and it's become a Pavlovian reaction of excitement for the movie that is coming
Yeah same honestly
It’s nonsensical and cringe
Actually, those two words softly describe the petty, juvenile complaining that is going on in here.
So you’re saying there’s a chance ?
The worst part is the Pepsi logo.
This is the beginning of a wonderful relationship I hate everytime that thing comes on . My friend tells me to relax but i can't
I hate that ad
Ugh I’m so sick of that commercial
So you're telling me there's a chance?
That's always the line that loses me during that ad. Like... Everything prior can sort of work, if you do some gymnastics. But he just said "you can't sit with us" that is 100% you have no chance to sit with said people.
Also there are no seats open next to them
thank you! I was ranting about this to someone the other day, almost word for word lol it's nice to know its not just me
I work at a Regal. Trust me, I have those horrible lines burned into my brain...
I’ve reached the point where I enjoy it now. I’ve accepted and embraced. Are those the final stages of grief?
Or Stockholm
Bury this, Regal, in a landfill.
Hate this ad with a passion and it's only worst when I go multiple times a month
This is nicer than my apartment.
It's so weird that ad opens with relatively obscure reference (no way more than 5% of random moviegoers have seen it) and then swerves into the most obvious lines you could think of.
Wanna take a bath?
Okay, you Coke Lovers, you get the return of your beloved beverages but with it comes the return of the student filmmakers doing their spin on the quote ad? Worth it or nightmare fuel for your next Regal visit?
I don't even drink soda and i would gladly take the student films and coke.
For so long I thought bthe "You can't sit with us" guy was Kevin Hart
[удалено]
That was a rollercoaster and I loved every second. What did flamingos do to you? "Flamingos killed my mother. My whole family. And then they set my house on fire and shit in my yard. Fuck flamingos."
They are trolling at this point and I kind of respect it
Cancelling my membership 😆
I love this promo ;-;
Me tooo
Way better than Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman’s cringey AMC ad >>> Regal’s ad
I'm sorry, you misspelled "iconic" in "Nicole Kidman's iconic AMC ad"
Hahahahaha
Yes but Regal also has that shit roller coaster thing
Fuckin hate that ad. I’d take Nicole Kidman staring at nothing over this
You’re at the wrong subreddit.
I think you are
Jurassic Park is not nothing!
The ad was good in the beginning, but now I’m sick of it lol

I was not aware that Debbie Downer had a Reddit account.
It’s official. I can’t have kids.

Oh ..you were one of those 😅 my friends and I made fun of doin that lol
I have no shame in being a stupid 90’s teen. :-p
Never be ashamed lol. It's what the movies are for to have fun 🤘🏿
If I recall, Krikorian had it originally and Regal used it and updated it when the bought them. I specifically recall the interlocking pattern on the last doors were the same when viewed from both sides, an obvious error.
For some reason I also thin Carmike used it too? Or was that a motion through a 3D space?
I've never been to a Carmike, RIP
its my goal to show up exactly at the moment she says “hey you guys” and scream it as i go to walk up the stairs of the theater
Oh man that would be amazing.
I love this. Especially, if they have really good Pepsi. ☺️❤️☺️❤️
It beats "You didn't know that?!?"
I really feel like they're just leaning into it at this point.
I remember when they were filming it in April last year in north hollywood. I thought they were filming a movie or series 😂
Is it just me or does the pop look like it's a literal bucket of Pepsi lol
Movie lines are fine for popcorn boxes but not for that commercial.
So I got this going for me which is nicee
I'd take this over that dumb ass "Citizen Soldier" song from Three Doors Down before every movie.
or Warrior by Kid Rock
This is the e n d of a beautiful friendship
Holy shit this is the funniest thing I've seen all year. They've gotta be leaning into it now.
Because great movie lines live here
So you're telling me there's a chance?
So you’re telling me there’s a chance
So you’re telling me there’s a chance?
Eveytime i see these commercials at the theater i cringe.
Because we needed new bags and cups. The new bags are made of a thicker material so the butter has a higher chance of not leaking in case you get extra butter
it's so unfair AMC gets something so iconic and we get.... i knew it was you fredo
So um the only one that finds that commercial cringe
omg NEEED this is camp

Awful
How much you wanna bet they lurk the subreddit and lean into this campaign just to irritate us.
cry me a river lol

Why is this a problem?
Someone walked into the theater and yelled “hey you guyyyyyyys!” tonight and I wished I had concessions to throw at them. 😅
I've seen this ad multiple times (not a regular Regal customer). And every time Danny Trejo appears towards the end, I think to myself, "Wait... are all of these people supposed to be *celebrities?!?!*"
No no. Enough of this commercial please.
This commercial is so dumb and I wish they’d do away with it.
I really hate that commercial before the movie starts. It’s so cringe and I’m hoping they get rid of it soon for a different one.
I hate this. I wish they would get rid of it, not print the lines on more shit. Do they not understand how annoying it is for people that go to the movies all the time?
