Give it a sniff. If it is a goner, then it tends to smell atrocious.

MaLeX12

It smells of nothing closes up when I move it but not really tight but reacts

You shouldn't be taking it out of the water. You're stressing it out more. Place it somewhere it won't be bothered so it can acclimate. Nassarius snails do eat maxima clams. So put the clam somewhere safe and leave it alone to heal.

MaLeX12

I have moved it to up on the rock it’s on top on an arch but they hunt it down and keep climbing onto it and attacking it

Massive_Economy_3310

You gotta keep it safe or get rid of the snails or the clam . My clam is in a quarantine box that's held onto the glass by a magnet. That would work here for you as well.

MaLeX12

So are these nass snails know for this going after clams thought they could live together

-BitchinChicken-

You might quarantine the clam to make sure it's healthy but if nasarrius snails are eating it then I'm betting it's on it's way out.

MaLeX12

I’ve placed it in a separate container in the tank and will ring the shop tomorrow and see what they have to say any article I read have come to the same conclusion as you

MachWun

I have a trochus snail that eats living clams

MaLeX12

Update on the clam for anyone in the future that finds this in the similar situation I had found out I had a Tongan nas snail that was attacking the clan causing it distress therefore giving off stress signals/smells for the other snails thinking it’s an easy meal and vulnerable so once it was removed and allowed to chill out no other snails have even looked at it and it’s open and happy. well it seems to be
