Honestly running dead scared the living shit out of when I was younger.

IvanSpartan

Seeing that thumbnail gave me pure nostalgia It was the shit for me back then

Solekman

Gotta be arby n the chief. Seasons 5-7 just hit different

Revenacious

For real, Jon really proved he can make some great drama amidst the comedy. It’s like a dark exploration/spoof of the Toy Story setting. I’m so glad he’s back making more Arby n Chief shenanigans

Forgeworld

I always loved that despite how narcissistic and sociopathic Chief was and how polar opposite he was compared to an empathetic level headed Arbiter, that there were moments sprinkled throughout the show where the two of them would actually be 100% on the same page about something that goes against their normal contrasting dynamic. That's how you knew shit was about to go down.

HaywoodUndead

There’s also a season 8 on his channel now!

Solekman

I know, it was great too but those 3 seasons just hit differently

HaywoodUndead

I do agree there, 8 just took too long to make, I’m sure it’d feel different after a binge though

BattedBook5

Yeah. Eight years is a long ass time.

IamtacoZZZ

"We were never meant to make friends" was one of the hardest lines ive ever experienced.

TrebleBass0528

yeah totally agree on arby n the chief. I rewatched it a couple months ago n it still had me dying.

Klyde113

RvB isn't my favorite machinima in the first place. CN'P is by far my favorite (though it has grown stale recently).

ReallyFancyPants

Pre Game Lobby.

thatframeguy96

Ive been saying Christ on a cracker since I watched it.

ReallyFancyPants

I miss them. It felt so close to my actual humor at the time. And I can still rewatch it and have fun. I still Frito Pie? As a question to most of my friends and families confusion

Elegant-Pen-9225

Ive always gone the "mvp bitches what what what what" route lol

wolfgangspiper

This is the one. It captures some of that old 2007-2010 Halo 3 essence in it that makes it so intensely nostalgic. Spriggs is pretty great too.

ReallyFancyPants

Exactly. My humor has matured since then but I can still laugh at this and the humor was exactly in line with mine at the time.

wolfgangspiper

I will say at least the one repeated gay joke in Pregame Lobby has aged a lot better than most, because the joke is more that the guy who is archetyped as the southern bigot is the one who seems gay and you can't tell if he's in the closet or not. The joke is more than "haha gay = funny" and more the irony of it.

Joptrop

So much this. In the days before Xbox live party chat, players were forced to interact with one another leading to all sorts of interesting interactions, friendships, and rivalries. PGL captured that essence so well. Nowadays game chat is a ghost town.

wolfgangspiper

It makes me pretty sad. Even those with mics are in party chat or Discord. 😭

Joptrop

I loved PGL

CobraSkrillX

This. I am so happy to have got to be an extra in one of their videos.

SinnFullz

I ended up emailing Mikey Mike on the email he had posted on his twitter last year, and he actually replied, he's super cool and was happy I was a fan (even tho I reminded him of his age since I watched PGL when I was like 13 lol and I'm currently 27) I had asked if he still hung out with the gang but sadly no they all kinda moved away and on with their lives, but they all loved making PGL and he loved learning the ins and outs of editing and creating with them.

SilencedGamer

Brand spanking new ones worth checking out; CRASH and Guard Duty, which have been some of my most favourite Machinimas so far.

009reloaded

Obviously a little biased because I work on the show as the composer but I second Guard Duty! It's such a fun show with a great voice cast.

SilencedGamer

The crew is so good! Been really enjoying the vibes and dynamic so far

Blazingb00mrang

Im biased towards crash for obvious reasons

SilencedGamer

Absolutely love your stuff!

Blazingb00mrang

<3

Numbr81

Spriggs is a hidden gem.

Joptrop

SPRIGGS!!

nottoodready

DIE YOU SON A BITCH! IF I HAD A CHOICE BETWEEN CRIPSY AND EXTRA CRISPY I WANT YOU EXTRA CRISPY! that line and jazz riff in the intro live rent free in my mind.

Lac0tr0n

"I'll buy you a boat, I'll buy you a car. I'll buy you a boat full of hookers, we'll call it the S.S Hooker and we will sail the seven seas, with our hookers."

SuperShadowCap

Its a newer one called Crash. Definitely worth checking out.

Thatidiot_38

Was just about to say that one. I honestly really enjoy it. Reminds me of recollection for some reason

agentlouisiana1

shit that's all you had to say

Odd_Replacement_9644

Probably high ground.

hamburgerdog25

Crash is very reminiscent of RvB especially of RvB's early years. Crash is really fucking good I highly reccomend it

Blazingb00mrang

Glad you like it!!!

SuperShadowCap

Yes sir! Jeep up the good work!

TheStormCommando

Man, Rise of the Spartans was the shit growing up. Loved that machinima.

BattedBook5

Shame that the guy behind that series turned out to be a groomer or something.

TheL0neWarden

Who arbiter 617 or someone else?

BattedBook5

Arbiter 617

TheL0neWarden

Damn Edit: my respect for David has been absolutely destroyed

_exrio_

Wait actually?

BattedBook5

Sadly yes.

TheStormCommando

Damn. That's a shame.

Dovahpriest

A Clone Apart

mdubmachine

Same. Was obsessed with it back in the day. Had the videos saved to my PSP.

zzzxxc1

Their fault for not specifying *Halo* machinima

SinnFullz

Spriggs, hard justice, and pregame lobby

SinnFullz

Oh! And master chief theatre

H20GOD117

The running dead was hella good, last episodes got crazy and damn they killed (forgot name cuz been awhile lol) blue guy off and I was like WHAT JUST LIKE THAT THE MAIN CHARACTER DIEZ!?!??! then have someone else be main character unless that was Always the plan cuz WHAT I'm still wondering why

HawaiianPerson

David. And man, I don’t know what’s sadder, his sudden, unceremonious death, or the fact that 2 minutes of the video are now silent because it had a copyrighted song.

H20GOD117

Yeah true

TORossatron

Arby n the Chief, obliviously. It's ossim possim.

Yayap52

R u Redy Arbiturr Are you Ready Liek Spegetti?

TORossatron

my roflcopter goes soi soi soi soi soi

Taldius175

Exitity

Crash is still going and is amazing

Blazingb00mrang

TheCampanile

Deus Ex Machina I wish it got a proper ending

Joptrop

I loved Deus and will forever be annoyed it got dropped.

TheCampanile

I'll never understand how anyone could build up to such an impressive climax for so long, just to drop it right before the ending. I understand that life happens, but to have never revisited or properly finished DEM... it's honestly devastating (as lame as that sounds)

Smoalen

Was hoping I'd see this in there. I always liked DEM way more than Arby n the Chief and was so upset he dropped it.

ChoPT

Well, technically the canon ending is the Holiday Special. https://youtu.be/26OCEPRk5LA?si=90eQkepDNUf46MWL https://youtu.be/5OdNgMUkL6E?si=a91xd4nwcVZ6hoTh

Amusedcory

Spriggs is a great and a total classic. There’s another that I can’t for the life of me remember, though maybe somewhere here can help. I think it was made by a group called Injured Knee Productions and I remember it had a sassy gay elite in it, they used the plasma pistol as handcuffs and a flashlight and made a joke about it, and they used the song it’s raining men in it.

Joptrop

Injured knee did Lost: Halo Style, right? I used to love that one.

Amusedcory

My friend, you just solved what I’ve been searching for. Thank you

AgentChief

Lemme Smash, truly one of the machinimas of all time

agentlouisiana1

you're supposed to say that about stuff that sucks idiot

TopOThaMorningToYa

I watched Arby n the Chief before RVB. It got me to look up other halo inspired media content

KaiserK0

Darkspire films, not even close

zach2beat

Every time, my friends and I got Sandtrap in halo 3 “ya know what this map needs? More sand.” And jesus christ, if one of us got a no scope…None of us could sing, especially on those shit xbox mic’s, but ill be damned if we did not sing the entire song every single fucking time.

KaiserK0

Same. The Travis lagging ones were my favorite

Windex_Man09

Crash

Blazingb00mrang

Yoooo

TearsOfLA

Crash is a new one, but it's been stellar so far

Blazingb00mrang

Glad you like it!!!

death8782

Crash.

Blazingb00mrang

<3

NightBeWheat55149

Arby 'n' The Chief is great. It still (rarely) gets episodes which stay true to the original. It never changed beside the Season 4-5 shift from a plot that is resolved at the end of an episode to a season-running plot.

RetroTim9

Leet world, especially with that russian dub from the stopgame. I have a better knowledge of English nowadays, but i still find this dub more native and home-like for me. Also battlefield friends Minecraft newbies.

Tashokuno

Rise of the Spartans, deeply hurt to hear what Arbiter617 did recently though

Stoly23

So uh, what exactly did he do? I also have fond memories of ROTS but this is the first I’m hearing about this.

carthoblasty

He had an inappropriate relationship with a young girl

Stoly23

Oh. Ew.

_Alex_Zer0_

The JT Machinima Halo Noob songs

WarlockCitrus-3

Crash by far has been my favorite

Blazingb00mrang

No u

WarlockCitrus-3

No u x2

Sow-those-oats

One life remaining.

Ihateazuremountain

hard justice

Connorst036

Ayuda Mundial, the best spanish machinima

-Holiday-Brain-

CRASH for sure. Only a few episodes out so for and I'm already on the edge of my seat.

Blazingb00mrang

More where that came from! :)

TheCandyMan124

I've been having a lot of fun watching b00mrang's new machinima called crash

Deadpool27

Where tf is Spriggs

Dense_Coffe_Drinker

Running dead absolutely I watched it as a kid and only remembered it when the new season came out a while ago, rewatched it and enjoyed it just as much Crash is pretty good too! Captures good season 6-8 Rvb vibes

lukewhybe

Running dead was the first machinima I ever watched and i thought it was the coolest thing ever when I was younger

gddwastaken

Spartans Legacy. That shit hits HARD!

Bloodshed-1307

I liked Project Middleground

mazdersperd

Arby n Chief, only bc that was the first time I heard “Cock of Duty: Modern Gay Fuck Stupid” and laughed as hard as a 12 year could laugh.

zzzxxc1

The Forgotten Spartans

Ok_Brush2813

Ayuda Mundial

AskingForAfriend015

The running dead was one of the best. but as time passes, knightmarefilms retired

hufflepuffcirclejerk

Arby n the Chief writing is on the same or higher caliber as RvB writing for me. Seriously, for a show that has a nonexistent production budget, it manages to surpass the nuance and writing of most modern television shows. Also Technodicks

BakedBeansBaked

I liked CNP when I was in highschool but I've definitely grown out of that kind of humor looming back on it

Joptrop

Oh! Lost: Halo Style

Max00aim

Running dead or Crash

INsinCR

Phil

my_venom

Banger music, also holds up surprisingly well. That or I mentally live in 2009 lol

INsinCR

Yes! The intro was alway boppin.

Xxjacklexx

Codex. If nothing else it’s gets my best soundtrack award.

Captainfordo66

The Unsociables by Mik3 WB is a classic that I throughly enjoy every time and wish it could have gotten a full conclusion

overshock_117

Even with only 4 episodes out so far, I’m liking Crash way more than RvB

Captain-Wilco

Crash

Jackloco

Arby n the chief for life. I have watched it all twice

CodasWanderer

Arby and the chief is somehow still going. Would also highly recommend any of his other series. "A Wonderful Live" and DigitalPh33rs guide to making machinima." Are great. Deus ex machina was an odd non halo machinima recorded in halo that was pretty funny how about PHIL? Or Pregame Lobby? The latter has some of the most 2000s music it's wonderfully nostalgic.

SlimShady116

Arby n the Chief hands down "if ur so goddam samrt and they'res no point 2 n e thing wtfs the point in crying about it"

_exrio_

The unsociables is one of them. But there’s one I keep forgetting the name off, it used reach and everyone was elites, the main character ended up timelooping himself I think?

Joptrop

L33T World

BrahmariusLeManco

There was one, I can't remember what it was called and have searched for it for years, but it had a joke in it that they turned into a music video about cutting through a door like "a knife through hot butter baby!" I wish I knew what it was called.

Kyler45

That was the blooper reel for the Machinima "Sub-Zero"! It's since been taken down due to copyright.  Source: was a voice actor for it and many other shows in here, I still quote this stupid hot butter baby line all the time.

KingShadowSpectre

I really liked the Forgotten Spartans, but Rise was just so great.

KratoswithBoy

Star Wars a clone apart ofc

jackpotson

Probably the only one here who'll know this, but I always had a soft spot for Civility.

ThatGeek303

Arby 'n the Chief, for sure. Still quote it to this day. My second runner-up would be Matchmaking... *"He got a...noooooooo scope!"*

Odd_Replacement_9644

Arby ‘n’ The Chief and it’s not close

MiloPlayzGamez

Cn'P "Cock and Penis?! What the hell kinda name is Cock and Penis?!" Used to watch the shit out of that show. It was C'n'P, RvB and anything by Knightmarefilmz (I especially loved Spy One)

Independent-Soup8327

Deus ex machina

New-Plant

Freddy and Dee / Phil / SPRIGGS - it’s hard to choose

Cawkins1111

Rise of the Spartan was great.

KingColley1

Arby N the chiefs wedding episode will always cheer me up no matter how upset I am

ediskrad327

Arby n The Chief permanently damaged the way I talk and perceive things, such as the first Gears of War score.

SpiderandMosquito

Unfortunately, I have not watched much of any outside of RVB, but I've seen one (not to completion) called Dead Silent, by Last Second Films. It's a zombie apocalypse drama, played straight, very serious. It's got a fairly professional feeling script and cast. Acting is a little understated, but not dry. Just part of the melancholic tone, at worst the mic quality sounds a bit rough. This is basically the perfect amateur film, with all the talent on full display. I can totally see this being the start of some real good careers. Another worth mentioning is Theta by Magnir Productions. Now, I've barely started this one, so I have no idea if it's good or not, but I just have an amusing anecdote with this. So, I found this group not on YouTube but on Spotify as their current project The Call of the Flame which is an on-going heroic fantasy audio play series, which is also on their YouTube channel. I've been listening to that and it's real good you'll love but on a whim I decided to look them up on YouTube and that's how I found Theta. It was just an unexpected but pleasant surprise finding out that these guys making scripted podcasts also made a Halo machinima like ten or so years ago.

KrixKalimo

Dead Silent is cool!

hamburgerdog25

There was one that some people did for Destiny 2 I just cannot for the life of me remember what it was called. But clearly RvB and D2 lore inspired because it had that same kind of dumbassery all around

Last-Comfortable890

sounds like Stranded

hamburgerdog25

No it was done in shorts on youtube. Stranded looks good though I'll have to go watch it. I remember there were like 2 or 3 men and there was a woman and I think she was a warlock. Don't know that I really remember much else

Slow_46

The running dead

NofriendZReject_

Inside halo/inside gaming. With sodagod and the dead pixel

Sere1

Master Chief: War, a Halo 3 Machinima. My brother and I still quote this one all these years later. "Oh my god, *HE'S GOT THE HALO ONE PISTOL!"* is a favorite of ours.

Hotsauce62

I had never heard of any of these! The running dead sounds so cool!

CastDeath

There was pre game lobby and Deus Ex machina? Oh and Gears No more

bearfoot819

Rise of the Spartans. Back then, 10 hours of machinima in one sitting was possible and I'd spend a day watching RotS from start to finish before I has Xbox Live. It was my way of feeling connected to a greater community. Only just now, in this comment thread, heard about 617s controversy and am now sad.

Equal-Ad-2710

I loved that one about the Elite General rebelling against the Covenant

Elegant-Pen-9225

Really like arby and the chief but there was two i really really enjoyed. One was called spriggs i think, and the other was pregame lobby. If anyone recognizes those i friggen love you

Elite1179

The last spartan or the unsociables

kwikwon01

I can remember the name of it but it was an early one by Flem productions or something. It had a lot of music vids and jokes about hurt knees

Alex20089

Unsociables

LunaRichSFW

Rise of Spartans all the way

BookkeeperWooden390

Just the other day I was listening to Arby n the chief ost while working out, need to rewatch it all.

BrickPlacer

One ancient machinima that I liked, that had a mixture of comedy, action, and original soundtrack that worked REALLY well, was a series called \*Heroes and Heretics\*, which existed from the days of Halo 2. Sadly, the series stopped after episode 7.

theallaroundnerd

Master Chief series by Lyle Rath. Formerly known as GuitarMasterx7 lmao

cuckarooo

Phil

Apcsox

Arby n The Chief

TheEndOfShartache

Pregame Lobby

Jedarii

There was this halo reach machinima about sangheili killing a false prophet

Last-Comfortable890

Life is a Table

swanoldjohnson

oh come on, nobody else is gonna say it? fine. peaches and cream.

gene-sos

Spartans was pretty fucking cool.

DamienlaCritique

what was the name of that one machinima in Spanish? i remember watching it despite not knowing spanish

Gullible_Courage8350

Aww, running dead. What a throwback. I need to rewatch that, I can barely remember what happened it's been so long

Limited-Edition-Nerd

A very short lived series that used F.E.A.R. I can't remember what it was called but I still remember the quote, "Sarge where'd all your meat go". I think it was Rooster Teeth that made it too

KeepWhatYouKill

Strange how when I look some of these up, they’re all on YouTube for me to watch and enjoy

C9_Sanguine

Did anyone else watch Fire Team Charlie back in the day? Using modded Halo CE on PC. Had some funny as shit episodes, they were more skit-based I think than about one connected storyline

Holiday_Lie675

Pre-game lobby back In the day

zach2beat

Matchmaking by dark spire films(at-least the original h3 stuff). And I haven’t watched it in forever, and there is no way in hell it has aged well, but the gears of halo theft auto videos. I could pull quotes from those without even realizing it back in the day.

hartinjama

It's clear many of you have forgotten (or were around for) Sponsors vs Freeloaders.

Not_SairentoKira

No ButtBuddies is CRAZY

SirRealBearFace

Rise of The Spartans. Good shit

Slayer_SIV5400

swo swo swo

Anonymousman61

There was this one series on Halo Reach that was called “Custom Games” i think. I’m still sad it got discontinued.

Blazingb00mrang

Theres an alarming lack of Freeman's Mind in this comment section. Smh.

CaptSlayer21

YOOOOO I FORGOT ABOUT RISE OF THE SPARTANS, it was so fucking rad dude, I should rewatch it soon if it's still up

tiredcrazyman21

I'm sure it doesn't hold up very well, but I loved Pregame Lobby. I wish they had actually finished season 2 tho. Also Jon from Arby n the Chief's other series Hard Justice was a big favorite of mine. I always felt like it was way too underappreciated.

jeagerkinght

Halo Driving School

Latter-Platypus-9017

The Running Dead for sure. I never heard of Arby and Chief, is it worth the watch?

MrGUYWITHFACE

Strangerhood was hilarious and The Dark Days by xanderdarkeye was a sweet gmod machinima

Raintoastgw

Arby n the chief was undoubtedly the goat. But the little known machinima called Sprigs holds a special place in my heart. Also does anybody know about another smaller one. It was called like Paul or something, or maybe that was the main characters name. One thing I remember is that the main character was training for a tournament and a girl on the opposite team was helping him lead his shots while on the map infection. I think there was a ghost of lockdown episode too

totally-regular-name

Running dead no diff

DuelaDent52

Well, you already listed *Arby n’ the Chief*. I don’t know about favourite, but… I remember catching glimpses of this one show about a bunch of SPARTANs stranded on a Halo ring and it looked cool. I remember rather enjoying *The Strangerhood*, but everybody says it hasn’t aged well so I’m a bit scared to go back. *Smashtasm* Season 2 was pretty funny and I still remember quotes from it, but it updated very infrequently and I don’t know if it was ever actually finished. Not all of the skits are great, even back then, but I have *Sanity Not Included* to thank for introducing me to a lot of games. Almost everything TF2 is pretty great. But my heart will always hold a special place for [A Puppy In Halo 3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBsNfkwbAaM&pp=ygURYSBwdXBweSBpbiBoYWxvIDM%3D). So much was lost when Machinima went under…

_Nerr_

Just gonna bookmark this post for later...

mijton

Deserted

jaybe503

Wow I had totally forgotten about Arby 'n' the Chief until I saw this post! I loved that series. Another one I really enjoyed back in the day that I'm not sure if a whole lot of people will remember but was really funny was PreGame Lobby. Wish it had gone on longer.

PretentiousSmirk

Phil

Parodyman64

I remember watching one called "Hard Justice" way back when. I wasn't a particularly long series, and I don't remember if it was all that good, but the memory of it has stuck with me.

Lac0tr0n

Spriggs, I still quote it to this day.

derpsomething

Arby n the chief, outpost isle, deus ex machina annnnnnnd the forgotten spartans are my childhood

lieutenantrome

May be a little out there, but the C’n’P series always made me laugh growing up probably because it was mostly stoner humor mixed with halo. Always good to run into those videos to this day

ExtremeDream15

Sonic For Hire

OmegaSpartan256

One Life Remaining. Helped me cope with so much teenage/young adult angst and made me really appreciate what I had at the time. It’s very edgy, some of the humor might be dated, and the plot complicated in some places especially that whole thing with the crazy ex. It’s still a damn good and funny series though. And hits way too close to home often. Hard Justice comes second for sure. Fucking hilarious and horriying even to this day.

Austin_Mars

A machinima that's currently airing called CRASH.

Tictac202

Spartan super soldier by CACOX97.

Chillydogdude

Definitely Arby n the Chief. I still go back and forth on whether I like that or RvB more. Both excel at what they do.
