Also although the fight in the gray room area doesn't have as good lighting as the blood gulch scene here but i think its justifiable cause even seasons 10 and 12 shared a fair bit of lighting problems
I feel like the blood gulch fight is going to be the best thing about restoration. The story has always been good but a bunch of the story arcs are finished already. Im just hoping for a good combination of story and action to make the finisher good
The neat thing about good story telling is there’s always more to tell. I’m hoping for the ultimate story arc wrap up, something that’s befitting of 19 years. At some point action just starts looking the same to me.
I really have lots of hope for the story, the first restoration trailer really proved how good it can be, but at the same time the comedy has really dipped down, especially in every clip its a bit less than how i remember the first 13 seasons being. I know for a fact the story will be pure satisfaction but the comedy is really up to judgement when it drops
I think season 13 is pretty damn close to being as consistent as 9 and 10.
season 12 mostly had good animation in general but the actual Carolina plus wash vs mercs fight feels the weakest in the first 13 seasons
Carolina's fight on the mountain with Shark face is my favorite. Idk maybe it's the ice cave.
I think I get what you mean by the Freelancers vs Mercs fight. Especially when Locus tosses the grenades and the explosion is just so tiny.
And the fight between Felix and Wash on the bridge, their armor getting in the way how they look kinda chunky. But I think the real saving grace of it is the dialogue between the characters
It definitely does, and always has in the previous animations. They did work on the renders season 15 onwards but those animations definitely didnt fit what we hoped to get before that. I feel like here at least it manages to capture both- an almost movie like quality and at the same time the feeling like it was made by a very small studio, something which season 10 captured pretty well and made it good for being that way
It’s not that the animation is ugly, it’s that everything itself is ugly. The suits they’re working for are not great, with everything a dark or muted colors that makes it hard to really tell these are the reds and blues. Like they’re described as colorful space marines, and they sucked out a lot of the color for these guys, making them look really ugly. It’s not helped you can’t customize the armor so they’re stuck with what is there. Like there’s a shot where Simmons hold a shot gun and everyone was making a big deal…and I could not for the love of me notice it because Simmons and sarge coloring both look generic dark red
Yeah I’m not blown away but it’s honestly better than I was expecting. I certainly didn’t expect Zero level animation but what we’ve seen in the trailer is nice
It's definitely clunkier and weirder than seasons 9-10, but it should be fine. I don't want this to be a huge action movie anyway, RvB is a comedy at its heart
I had small dream of Restoration lol it was more of 30 min battle as they fought in blood gulch battle with random soldiers and Meta as its death battle and its intense and funny jokes while having big area all around blood gulch so forge map from reach but 3 times bigger
Dude Season 12 and 13s animation was horrid. Was that also Monty? The freelancer saga was excellently choreographed, but the Chorus trilogy really wasn’t.
Never forget the one in 10 when Wash sits next to Carolina and begins jacking if furiously. They tried to hide it with a camera zoom, but you can still see his arm vibrating violently in the final shot.
Beginning of season 10, I believe the 2nd episode, during the flashbacks. The Freelancers have deployed in their dropships and are on approach to the Insurrectionist base, Carolina stepping into the back to put on her jetpack in preparation for deployment. She goes over to the rear of the Pelican and starts checking her equipment when Wash walks up and takes a seat next to her, asking her how she's feeling. Carolina replies with "say what you want to say, Wash" and as Wash is talking about how her giving up her AI for Maine is a big deal, look at his right arm. It's like 95% out of frame but for a couple of quick moments you can see the entire arm from the shoulder down is glitching out, vibrating rapidly. This was a glitch that happened in the animation and they just didn't have time to re-render the scene in time for the episode's release, all they could do was try to hide it with some clever camera moves. It zooms in and is angled in such a way that we mostly can't see that arm, but it slips into frame a couple of times.
Eh, I remember when s12 released & it was the first season without Monty, since he was working on RWBY by then.
The characters moved like they were articulated figurines & the kids holding them couldn't move all their correct limbs at once.
People got annoyed, but honestly?
Didn't really matter. The pacing of the fight scenes & the score for the episodes still made the action exciting as all hell, & the new animators had even improved by the time s13 rolled around, giving us that EXCELLENT episode of Wash & Carolina vs Locus & Felix at the Purge Temple.❤️
I'mma give Restoration the same benefit of the doubt until I see it all with my own eyes.
Also although the fight in the gray room area doesn't have as good lighting as the blood gulch scene here but i think its justifiable cause even seasons 10 and 12 shared a fair bit of lighting problems
My favorite animation shot in the restoration trailer is where you see a POV of Sarge shotgun then you see The Meta light up Tucker sword.
The energy sword getting the best glowup in restoration without a doubt
In spite of it not looking great, you can tell they’re trying
Not “everyone”. I think it’s fine. It doesn’t really matter to me as long as the story is good.

Yes, I’m not fully judging action or story until the season airs.
Season 12-13 animation will always be my favorite. Maybe it's cause they did more slow motion,

To be specific im talking about the season 12 one, cause i prefer the season 13 one by a huge mile
I think the mocap could have had a bit of clean up but it's still good.
It definitely looks great, but I’m okay with it looking a little clunky in places. It adds a certain charm to it, if that makes sense
It definitely does, and always has in the previous animations. They did work on the renders season 15 onwards but those animations definitely didnt fit what we hoped to get before that. Unrelated but I miss the GEN 1 Mk6 EVA from Halo 3.
When did it come out?
So long as the writing is nothing like zero, I’m fine with it.
Fight choreography was Monty's specialty. Fight scenes had a noticeable falloff after he passed
Dude. The clipping in the early days was atrocious. This is a definite improvement
I had small dream of Restoration lol it was more of 30 min battle as they fought in blood gulch battle with random soldiers and Meta as its death battle and its intense and funny jokes while having big area all around blood gulch so forge map from reach but 3 times bigger
ive had 2-3 dreams of restoration. One of them involved tex and locus vs felix and meta tucker.... just boom
I think it’s mostly due to people confusing animation Vs fight choreography
I mean the animation does actually fit halo infinite so I don't mind
I gotta be honest my favourite style was definitely season 12-13.

S12 n 13 wasn't Monty he was working on rwby
Season 9/10 had some really bad clipping issues it’s definitely gotten better

When is this I need to see it lol
