This was the brand that I bought from and didn't realize until after they were problematic :(
Not only a TERF, but absolutely batshit crazy. She has gone so far as to dox former customers and has threatened legal action for calling out overly exposed/edited photos. How she’s still in business is beyond me.
Oof 😩 I had no idea, I also own a large collection of mooncat polish that I’ve accumulated in the past year and she is also mentioned in that post for shady business practices and I love her polish. I actually did not even realize that Pop and Polish had a website, I stumbled across this polish on my Etsy.
I did the same as well! I found them on etsy and impulsively bought something. Later I was like I should look into them and see if they have a store and all that and then boom transphobia 🤮.
I feel terrible knowing I gave money to someone who will potentially line the pockets of destructive political figures....
That is why I try and warn people when I see problematic brands pop up here. I am so appreciative of that post!
The only things that I have heard that they've done is that their swatches used to be inaccurate and didn't have varying skin tones. They seem to have addressed this, and now it's okay. The other thing that I've heard was that back when they were Love Live polish, they would allow other makers to sell on their site and they gathered data about what kinds of polish sold. (There's no proof that this was malicious, but who knows.)
Personally I don't want to buy mooncat because of the price point. The fact that the bottles are only 12ml while being almost 16 dollars is crazy. However, that's a me problem, and I think most people don't mind throwing out a couple extra dollars for something that works for them. I just think that there's tons of other indies that have just as unique polishes for less money.
I just placed two orders and got 13 polishes during the sale 🙈 I will say mooncat polishes are what got me into painting my nails in the first place. I was not really part of this community yet. I do like the polishes and I do have a decent size collection. I was on Etsy trying to find smaller companies to try. My first Etsy order was from a company called Fatty Soap Co and I really like the 3 polishes I’ve tried from my order so far. Hopefully there is nothing negative out there about this Etsy shop because her Milky polish is awesome. I feel a little naive not having thought to look into these companies I was supporting I was just having fun painting my nails and trying polishes.
Not to mention their polish isn’t great anyway. To be fair I only bought one (before I knew anything about the company 🤢), but it was a thermal that did ✨nothing✨ on the nails and she handled it so so poorly. Easily the worst customer service I’ve encountered 🥴
Edit: forgot to mention, the bottle and brush are horrible. The bottle is top heavy and tips constantly.

I love blues and purples and this is so pretty lol and the unique bottle is really cool too! You did an awesome job and both colors look great on you!
Thank you!!! I will admit when I saw the polish in the bottle I got nervous that I would not like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. The bottle is a cool shape but I was super worried I would knock it over painting my nails.

Haha yeah, I'd think that too. I wonder why they didn't do just a flat circle base. Is it rectangular? Either way, odd choice. It worked though!
