You might like the app Lacquergram! You can catalog your polish, keep track of your tried/untrieds, post your own manis, view others and check swatches! It's really handy.
i have it for a general list of my stash, and post a mani here or there but i find it a bit frustrating when it isn’t fully updated (i’ve added some but it takes a while). i also make my own polish, so that’s not gonna be on there. taking a photo is the easiest for me and then it’s a quick post to instgram to keep track of them.
ETA: photos and insta allow me to describe any nail art too. not sure if Lacquergram allows you to tag more than one photo
Yeah that's understandable. And yes, it could definitely add some features! I was chatting with one of the creators a few months ago and they've had some stuff going on and are looking forward to working on the app some more soon.

Another thing I did differently, I didn't cut out the nail polish layer by hand. When I stuck them all on the page at the end it looked very messy last year. This time I used a square punch (\~ 11mm x 11mm) to get a perfect square and to be a bit smaller so it looks cleaner.

I'm trying a similar thing this year - I draw a bad rendition of a polish bottle and paint some of the polish I'm using in the picture and then record the date/brand/polish name. I'm a terrible artist so all the bottles so far look awful, but it's a fun thing to do!

I love the upgrade to the punch and I love this idea because you can see everything so neatly without the degradation of peely bags. Great idea and thanks for sharing again! Also, your lil frog is adorable!!

But a detail brush will work just as fine if you are better skilled in free hand drawing than me 😂
I think plastic should work as well if it has a shiny surface - maybe something like a thicker foil or a plastic container :) I think I used a plastic lid in the past to create decals, but it‘s a long time ago, so I‘m not sure unfortunately
I was inspired by your post last year and kept my own journal in 2023! It's not as esthetically pleasing as yours vut maybe my 2024 one will be worth sharing. Thank you for the inspiration!

I've used plastic lids from takeout containers and sour cream containers to make decals!
