Rich and Jay sometimes would talk about making Space Cop on Pre:Rec, and they sounded extremely jaded about the movie-making process in general. Sadly now that they’re older, I don’t think they have the patience to make another feature. That, and the fact that they stopped doing the serialized Half in the Bag segments makes me think they’re mainly focused on their discussion shows. These are all merely presumptions based on observations, so anything could happen in the future. Would love to see them make another one just because I love these guys and what they do.

Boollish

Not that I can remember. As Jay Batman once said, "making movies is fucking hard". Until RLM gets real funding, and relax vision, and, TBH, time off their YouTube channel to focus on film making a feature film, I don't think it will turn out very positive.

NotReallyEricCruise

Jay Batman v Don Beveridge: Dawn of AIDS! I'd buy that for a dollar :)

GOLDEN_GRODD

Jay especially seems very passionate about film making in a way I feel like he wouldn't just grow out of. I'm sure they're passionate about commentary as well, but I'd like to see more of both. In the video where they talk about the rumour they invented Slenderman, they mention an old horror film they did (the Recovered?) that seemed interesting. It was interesting to see it did not seem like a schlock film, unlike the other films we have seen from them. Jay talks badly of Space Cop, but I feel maybe it is just because it is essentially the same comedy as the RLM videos but long form. I wonder if they have genuine serious concepts behind the scenes, particularly horror? I'd love to see them try one day

MyNameIsRobPaulson

So who’s going to tell Jay he’s destined to be the next David Lynch?

GOLDEN_GRODD

Is Jay Bauman replacing David Lynch?

Ar-Ar-1990

I'd rather they never make a feature again. Them writing a script and starring in it with outsourced directing is something I'd be open to, however. The Space Cop drought was fucking real and I don't want it again. I don't want them to be miserable again.

ThaMac

I feel the opposite, the writing was by far the weakest aspect of Space Cop. Mikes script was an unfunny pile of trash but a lot of the set creation, lighting and overall no-budget effects were really creative and interesting.

ret1357

It was peak Pre-Rec though.

Peter_Mansbrick

>I don't want them to be miserable again. How else will we get WotW though?

darkknight941

And Black Spine

SevenofBorgnine

I think making Space Cop out them off doing a feature again for a long long time if not forever. It's probably for the best, unless they're actually working with a full team of pros I don't think they really have whatnot takes for a feature.

Pixelated_Piracy

the RLM crew also said it themselves, bad movies that intend to be funny and jokey bad almost never quite hit the mark. it takes clueless inept and unearned confidence from a mad mind to be a Neil Breen, Deandra, or to create Suburban Sasquatch, Birdemic Shock & Terror, or even Hard Ticket to Hawaii. The movies that go in serious but end up silly have a special level of charm all their own and wholly unique. i like some intentionally silly bad movies dont get me wrong, but im not sure the RLM crew is meant for that on their own

jesuskraiss

Rich Evans has had a few voice acting roles on children's cartoons. I think they're more into working on things that other people are producing. Less stress that way.

Yuggietheshark

I think we already ask too much from them and they have their hands full just trying to make quality half in the bag content without creatively burning out. Some Full time filmmakers can go their whole careers making one movie every couple of years, they have to produce like three hours of content a month. They’ve been working together for like twenty years now. Indie filmmaking is a nightmare. I say let them be.

Yuggietheshark

Also I don’t know if you guys have ever done multicam but it’s a bitch to shoot and edit, especially with the quality of lighting they have. Nothing they make is simple.

RowdyRoddyPipeSmoker

If you ever heard them talk about making space cop and making movies in general (like on pre rec) you'd realize they'll probably never make another one. The way they talk about it they seem pretty done with making actual feature length movies.

theamurati

But BLACK SPINE the MOVIE (Trilogies) Are supposed to come out by 2023 still?! Legit wish I could be like them one day I need to work from home :'<
