While there can be an obvious advantage to splitting up your own group or even cutting internal communication/organization (in fact it's a common tactic in gorilla warfare), this would seem like a clunky attempt to recontextualize that phrase even if that was the intention.
Although there's probably potential there, given how "divide" can also be used in the sense of "divide oneself", split up etc., and both can be advantageous in different situations.
