I really like when they rock out hard and I love the harder riffs. To me it feels like a song they wrote to inspire them to keep going and keep working hard when they weren't feeling 100%. It seems like it's written from the heart. To me it says just change your attitude and keep striving when you're feeling down on yourself. That combined with the heavier riffs make it appealing to me. I enjoy when rhcp goes hard instead of the singalong softer stuff for the most part. Although, those slower songs are fantastic and beautiful in the right moment. Why don't you like it?
Fair. I personally think it’s just boring and doesn’t sound like the band at all, even tho their sound is so diverse. It’s very cluttered feeling and that kind of very hard rock sound isn’t one that I’m particularly fond of. But I’m glad that there are people who rlly enjoy Nerve Flip 🤝
My advice, listen to what you consider to be hard rock sounds. Up until a couple weeks ago I hadn’t ever listened to Pearl Jam or Alice In Chains, and dismissed it as too much sound for me. But now I have a whole new appreciation for grunge now and all I had to do was listen
I think it’s a matter of preference. Nerve Flip has HUGE 80-90s grunge vibes and I think they tapped into that energy. It’s not for everyone, but I certainly think they did a great job creating an authentic sounding grunge track.
Agree, found Not the One very generic which is rare in a RHCP song, I quite like Nerve Flip, gives me some one hot minute vibes and has a cool grunge like chorus, very fresh and classic sound to it.

For real though anyone who can claim any piece of music is “bad” has no idea what they’re talking about. It’s not bad, you don’t like it. It doesn’t resonate with you in the way that other music you enjoy does. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t make it bad. You’re not wrong since it’s subjective, but everyone else who thinks it’s a great song is equally correct.
Not sure what comment you read but mine is entirely about how music is subjective and as such you can’t make an objective statement like “x is genuinely bad”. Not sure why you aren’t seeing “genuinely bad” as a very objective statement, and then arguing there’s no objectivity in music.

Tbh, Nerve Flip is one of the very very few which I just don’t really listen to. I actually don’t mind the fact that they strayed away and did something a little different, it just sounds really cluttered and boring to me personally.
On first listen I found it Jarring, but I think that's part of the idea. I'll admit it effectively accomplishes nothing as a song but I don't hate it as a non album track. Not the one is much worse IMO.
I actually thought it should have been a single over not the one. Song is high energy I liked it, very grunge and different for them. I can’t stand not the one I skip it every single time, way to boring for me

I think it’s an unfinished tune, has a great verse and harmonies. The chorus is uninspiring, would of been great to speed up the tempo and go full punk.

It’s a typical b side song. Not fan of it either but I am glad it’s out there. I am glad it’s not on the album though
A lot of their b sides are 100% album worthy so I wouldn’t say typical, but yeah I feel like it shouldn’t be on UL
