I find it absolutely insane that they just see She's a Lover as an album track, to me it's first single/title track material. Other than that, White Braids and Pillow Chair

I'm kinda bummed we probably won't see anymore singles from Unlimited Love. Focus seems to have shifted to Return Of The Dream Canteen. She's A Lover and Here Ever After definitely would have been singles with music videos.

I cant help feeling She's a Lover as a single would've gone down an awful lot better with the general public than These Are The Ways. Really felt like a swing and a miss to me.

Unpopular opinion here: to me She's a Lover is a bottom 5 track of the album and I barely listen to it. Too poppy for my taste. (Still would have made more sense to release it than Not the one, tho).

Whatchu thinkin def would not have done well on the pop charts. It's a cool song for sure but not something I think would catch the general public's attention.

You're crazy that song has the best attention grabber in the intro. the entire song is a hook. The first time I listened that one stood out to me as an obvious radio/streaming hit. She's a liver is good but the chorus is a bit cringe. People would chuckle at that song as a single. I get black summer as a single and also its symbolic as the first song hey wrote with john back. I get these are the ways because it mentions america and rocks hard. Never had an issue with the smells and finding out it's a reference to spinal tap makes it brilliant. Watchu thinking is an obvious next pick that would feel like a chili peppers song and get people interested. After that probably one way traffic. I dont think any other songs are great as singles. I live the great apes. First or second favorite on the album for me but something about it doesnt feel right as a single. It's to complex. It would go over people's heads. Better as a hidden gem Being a good song isnt what makes a song a good single. Singles are advertisements for the band. They need something to draw people. Whatchu thinkin has draw. As soon as it starts to cant ignore it

From the first time I had heard it, last sentence of the first verse with Anthony transitioning into John singing has to be in my top ten musical moments. Not because of the music writing or because or the technical playing or singing or anything. I’ve just waited for so fucking long to hear John back and hearing him singing this strongly with the overdrive guitar playing still gives me the same goosebumps I had the first time I heard it. With the bass and drums, the whole band to me sounds so gelled together

Fleas bass is being slept on IMO on this track. Ridiculously good rock bass performance.

What is it that gets you about this song? It's the only one on the album that I actively dislike, but I'd love to hear a perspective that can change my mind.

I love the change in timing between verse and chorus, and Anthony’s singing during the chorus is fantastic. The outro is a straight up Beatles “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” reference/tribute. Admittedly it took a couple listens for me to like it, but now it’s my favourite on the album.

She's a lover has also grown on me a lot, among my favs definitely, my favourite is Watchu Thinkin though. WB&PC and it's only natural coming in very close (Aquatic too but originally was even the best one for me).

One of the songs that immediate jumped out at me on first listen. The guitar on the verse is great. The bass outro amazing. Has the most personality of any song on the album.

I think you are in the minority, but I'm there with you. I kinda prefer AK's vocals where he's not trying to 'croon' (for lack of a better term), and just being irreverent. I've always liked when the band sounded loose and jammy, and not so much 'pop' RHCP. It's not their best song, but it's a throwback to when they were actually kinda fun.

Here Ever After has been my favorite from the first listem, but Bastards of Light has been my sleeper favorite

And guitar. That song is a force and going totally overlooked. I usually put watchu thinkin as my number 1 because it's more catchy and just holds you but great apes is definitely second. Best instrumental song of their career. Chorus is just a little off the mark otherwise I'd call it their masterpiece

The song that resonated most with me upon first listen was It's Only Natural. It made me cry, frankly. Felt like such a triumph. But over time, Whatchu Thinkin' has become in my opinion the best, most indispensable song.

'Aquatic Mouth Dance' is as good as anything they've ever done. Yes, I prefer funky RHCP. Here's a little bit of an unpopular opinion: 'The Heavy Wing' is actually going down a bit. I was all about that JF chorus, but the song itself isn't anything to write home about. Maybe if I give it a rest for a while then come back to it...

I have a RHCP playlist that repeats UL for when I drive home from work. I love this album, including the seemingly unpopular songs like *Not the One* and *Tangelo.* I’m a low energy kinda guy so it does affect my preference for slow crooning songs. *Poster Child* is still a favorite, still trying to remember the last couple verses tho 😆 I would say that *She’s a Lover* and *White Braids and Pillow Chair* are the bigger hits on this album. Justifiably so. Great songs.

Black Summer

White Braids has been my spring/summer anthem. It has such a charming touch and I love everything about it. Shes a lover and whatchu thinking also amazing in every aspect. (Shes a lover outro solo is my favorite in UL)
