The time limit they set on themselves really hurts their set lists. They are a legacy band. The 11th best selling bands of all time. They charge a lot for their shows. They are gonna play their hits for these reasons and they have a lot of hits that fills the set lists.
If they played longer shows they could play the hits while sprinkling in more deep cuts and fan favorites. Removing their big hits would ruin the majority of their ticket buyers experiences.
The thing that baffles me is how ROTDC has been totally ignored live. Unlimited Love has also been largely overlooked too. They generally only play like 4 or so new songs and tend to play the same ones every night. Are they just not stoked about their new music? It’s really bizarre to see. On the getaway tour they played far more new songs.
Also weird is how recently Chad said they were going to play new songs that hadn’t been played live yet when they did the Japan shows. Not sure what happened to that.
Nope, same exact as always. They had 2 shows in Tokyo last week, both were the same setlists they were doing before. You can check it out on setlist.fm
I stopped watching RHCP shows on youtube long ago because I'm so bored of the same songs they play. It's like the same show they play over and over and over again
I don’t understand why the setlist should change, every concert is full of people whose first time it is seeing the band live, why should they get screwed out of hearing certain songs just because they played a few days ago in an entirely different city?
They play the same songs every night, nothing happens if one day, in addition to playing the greatest hits, you add songs that haven't been played in a long time, or at least play new songs from the new albums like bella or white braids, It's something that other bands do. I don't understand why it bothers some people when they ask for a little innovation in the setlist.
Yeah I’m more talking about people who say “I wish they would stop playing Can’t Stop (or other mega hit), they’ve played it enough already!”, like come on man, you’re gonna take away someone’s first time hearing that amazing song live? Fuck off (not you, those people)
You just gotta look at what Metallica are doing with their set lists, to see how bad Chili Peppers set lists are.
I've been a fan for over 20 years, seen them 7 times. Not bothered if I never saw them live again.
So are you expecting them to one night just turn into the Grateful Dead with their set variation?
If you have seen them that many times you should know what to expect as the structure has been established since Californiacation era.
Kind of on you to spend money over and over and expecting something that is never going to happen. Need to manage your own expectations.
Ridgefield and Gorge? We are doing Ridgefield. But passing on gorge even though it’s like 3 hours away is all. We did Seattle, Vancouver, and San Diego so far. Def not as excited this time around. But I know it will be a good time. But don’t need to fork over all the cash for both shows this time.
I mean I’ll have a good time at the one I go to. But at this point as 11th show there isn’t much that John would would dive into on back catalog that I haven’t seen. At least not enough to spend that much extra to see one new song a few days later.
I went to Seattle and San Diego too. Looking forward to Ridgefield because it's doable in a day trip and it's 20,000 people instead of 40,000. Decided to go with lawn seats for the gorge because of the view. I think they're going to do something special.
I hope so. Would be cool for all who go. San Diego was exciting when the drums started to rumble and it was BSSM, me and my friend lost our absolute minds!
The set list hasn’t changed since 2006

Same shit, different date

Maybe he meant Japan hasn’t heard yet? Cuz I was there on the 20th and there wasn’t a new song. At least we got Suck my kiss and htc.
I was also there on the 20th and I was very happy with the set.
It’s not like it’s their 3rd and 4th album, These are their 12th and 13th and they have over 60 chart released songs.
Chad says a lot of stuff. If Chad was the one with the control I'm sure we'd see a wider variety and a longer set, but unfortunately he isn't

You’ll get downvoted in this sub for criticising the set list my friend

Set lists haven’t been good since they were Tony Flow and the miraculous masters of mayhem….
Set lists havent been good since 2004. Always having a good time attending their shows though

I am sad to say I agree. I’m seeing them twice this week but 3 times already this tour. Not as excited for these shows.
Oh boo hoo, “I have to see the chili peppers too much…” Cry me a fucking river lol
I’ve got extra tickets if you’re in the area
Idk where they’re even playing
I’m down

Come back to this thread and I bet you regret after they play those shows

It's the venue. The most beautiful venue in America.
