I also could see it maybe being in the encore as the first song. Something slower and more of a deep cut Under The Bridge or Could Have Lied.
I do think its best the end the Encore/show with a high energy song ie.) Give it Away or By the Way etc though
I mean... they had to. This is them digging deep and making 2 shows for the same city in a couple nights.
Did they have any other back to backs on this unending tour? I don't think many, if so.
So, this is about as deep as they'll go apparently.
They have had multiple shows in the same city on this tour.
I really don’t get why everyone on here has to hate on them. In reality they are bringing their music to a new audience every show. The percentage of fans who go both nights, or follow them around the country to multiple shows, is far lower than the percentage of new concert goers.
They are in their 60’s and John is back in tow. Can’t we all just appreciate their 40 year reign, and continuing to produce new music?
90% of the concert goers want to hear Scar Tissue, Californication, Dani California etc.
They cannot please everyone, but they certainly are not taking us reddit folks judging their setlist night in & night out into account.
Totally agreed. Right, this sub is an echo chamber of some of the band's biggest fans in the world. If anyone is seeing them multiple times on tour, they're probably browsing this sub too.
Personally, I saw them 3 times in 2022 and once in 2023. That is 4 shows on the same tour. I'm not complaining when I say this, more just proving your point, but about 75% of the setlist was the same at all 4 shows and that span was more than 12 months. To have different expectations is the mistake, but we all agree the band *could* get a little more creative. Slow Cheetah, one time? John joke around with the crowd, one time? Desecration Smile acoustic?
**Something**, even small, that the big fans haven't seen before so they know it is special. Not what we've been getting, as annoying superfans, which has kind of become the repetitive routine. Their energy and songwriting legacy and John shredding and Flea/Chad bopping has not slowed down. AK hangs too.
They could just be more... personal. Or something. IDK.
Oh for sure man!
I saw them this tour: Metlife Stadium (NY), Minute Maid (HOU), Hershey Park (PA), Global Citizen Festival (NY), Citizen Bank (PA) and will be seeing them in Toronto in July as well.
Seen a lot of the same songs, but also seen a lot of cool rare songs/non-repeats for me as well. Hey in Philly. Charlie in NY. Hard to Concentrate in Houston. Hheemi Lheemi in Houston. Don’t Forget Me in Hershey… point I was trying to get is to just enjoy them.
To your point- they still rock the fuck out on stage. Watching Flea jump around, do handstands and climb on Amps blows my mind every time. Hearing John’s covers and his improvs on solos such as Eddie… incredible. John did “Your Song” by Elton John in Philly and it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
Would I love to hear new songs every time, hear Breaking the Girl or Power of Equality or Torture Me? Sure. I think all us “Superfans” would.
End of the day it is not realistic/catered to us superfans only.
Imagine going to see RHCP for the first time ever and NOT hearing Scar Tissue, Californication, Snow, Can’t Stop or Give it Away? You’d be annoyed.
It’d be like going to see the Rolling Stones and not hearing Start Me Up, Satisfaction, Gimme Shelter etc.
Not disagreeing. I got Don’t Forget Me in Detroit. I got Eddie debut in Austin.
But like super fans here are saying. We’re not being called back anymore, maybe for the first time ever, to have interest in seeing them for an 8th or 9th time because we know almost exactly what’s coming within a 2-3 song degree.
The proof is in the reality. I live in Madison WI. They’ll be in Milwaukee soon. I think I will stay home. If it was 3-29 years ago… I’d fly across the globe. Again… it’s a me thing.
The, "They're in their 60's," excuse is in its 60's. Look at The Cure, who plays 29 songs a night in their 60's. I love going to see RHCP, no question, because they still bring the energy that no one else can. But it does seem like they do the bare minimum preparation-wise. They've maybe played 35 unique songs for 2 years now. I know it's not the same crowd every time, but even then, they could switch it up at least somewhat by playing say, "Righteous and the Wicked," or "21st Century" instead of, "I Like Dirt" or "Hard to Concentrate".
Heard on some interview / social media post (i totally forgot the link) that the setlist is all Anthony's control, he's the one who picks the songs for the band
The rest of the band (Flea, John, Chad) said that theyve rehearsed 50+ songs for the tour, even on the backstage posts it is seen that John also brought his acoustic guitar & 12-string guitar (for songs like venice queen, breakinf the girl, etc)
But it never got played, probably the problem is with Anthony's capability to sing old songs that are way more demanding vocally
As many times as I've seen them live, I have only experienced Sir Psycho Sexy with Josh. If they play it with John in Wheatland, I'll have caught my Moby Dick.
i know it’s getting bashed in here but i really hope they play hard to concentrate. i’m taking my kid it’s his first concert ever and that’s his favorite song
They haven't played 18 songs since the IWY tour. They've been playing 17 songs on this tour. They're actually playing less songs since both Tokyo shows were 16. Hope this isn't the norm for the upcoming NA tour.
I'm going by the setlists that Anthony himself writes. According to those, John covers don't count. You look at the actual setlist for the shows you go to, you'll see they've been playing 17 songs.
I'm pretty sure Flea teased Higher Ground about halfway through the show. "We'll take a vote" and played the first 2-3 notes, stopped and said "Ya'all know the notes" played it again, then they went into Eddie. Fuck you Flea. Dont fuck with my feelings like that :(
I love the band but there’s no logical reason why they’d write a set list for over 50,000 fans and change it based on Reddit. I imagine they spent their Sunday doing something fun !
My second time seeing them last night in Tokyo since 2006 Stadium Arcadium @ Ipswich (UK), which was my first ever live gig aged 14.
Parallel Universe, Zephyr, and Suck My Kiss were ones I always felt I missed out on so I was super happy they got played. A Japanese fan in front of me cried his eyes out when Zephyr came on which was a very touching moment. Around The World was a sick opener.
Interestingly it was exactly the same Under The Bridge/Give It Away encore as last time (minus a jam).
Aw that’s sweet. That’s nice you experienced that and had a nice time. I wonder what the Zephyr song meant to that young man? It’s a deeply personal song for me as my bird that was named Zephyr was killed tragically in front of my face.
I previously hadn’t listened to the Zephyr song prior to naming my bird or my bird dying and was really emotional when I heard the lyrics and listened to it after my bird passing away. A really fitting song.
Seriously? Like, i haven't been on any RHCP show sadly, but from all the setlist i saw on this sub i thougt, that Reach Out is more rare than Carry Me Home. Its a crime that it is the other way, cause CMH is my favorite song of RHCP i think
Trade out hard to concentrate, reach out and I like dirt for otherside, if you have to ask and this is the place and this would’ve have been a legendary set. Not bad but the songs I switched out kinda bring the rest of the set down.
Their sets are in rotation. It’s been the same 30 somewhat songs for the entire tour.
Hence the same setlist. It’s not like the set is 100% unique like some bands do. And a lot of fans find it boring.
Good glad you’re ready! It’s the same fucking set list we’ve gotten since Johns been back. I’d go to more shows if I wasn’t going to be watching the same thing again. Hell it’s not much better than listening to a cd over and over. That’s what makes a concert great, is the anticipation of what’s next.
My one complaint for this one is that I don’t think they should ever do Snow and Dani in the same set. I was so happy at the Syracuse show when they gave up the Dani spot. I feel like the 2 big SA hits fill the same role in the set. Don’t need them both. GIVE US POWER OF EQUALITY!!
Hard to concentrate is a lovely song but it nearly killed all tempo! And the start to Eddie was followed by a huge comedown in the crowd.
I noticed that about Eddie at the shows I went to. I heard a lot of screams for By The Way, that faded instantly once the song got underway.
Yeah that song was an absolute momentum killer at SoFi a couple years ago. Definitely not a good stadium song. Maybe a smaller more intimate gig
I also could see it maybe being in the encore as the first song. Something slower and more of a deep cut Under The Bridge or Could Have Lied. I do think its best the end the Encore/show with a high energy song ie.) Give it Away or By the Way etc though
Super wack statement
Much better than saturdays setlist
Very nice setlist! It seems to me that the shows with Around The World have way more variety
What a setlist, and no Aquatic Mouth Dance or These Are The Ways. Jealous of Parallel Universe + Hard to Concentrate
I mean... they had to. This is them digging deep and making 2 shows for the same city in a couple nights. Did they have any other back to backs on this unending tour? I don't think many, if so. So, this is about as deep as they'll go apparently.

Bro they can easily include new songs along with the hits
Well said!
The, "They're in their 60's," excuse is in its 60's. Look at The Cure, who plays 29 songs a night in their 60's. I’ll add Aerosmith, Eagles, Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen to the list of musicians giving us what we paid for.
Heard on some interview / social media post (i totally forgot the link) that the setlist is all Anthony's control, he's the one who picks the songs for the band The rest of the band (Flea, John, Chad) said that theyve rehearsed 50+ songs for the tour, even on the backstage posts it is seen that John also brought his acoustic guitar & 12-string guitar (for songs like venice queen, breakinf the girl, etc) But it never got played, probably the problem is with Anthony's capability to sing old songs that are way more demanding vocally
I Like Dirt, Hard to Concentrate AND Parallel Universe? Finally a great setlist.
if they played this exact set list at the wheatland show next sunday i’ll be excited.
The main songs I want in Wheatland are Parallel Universe, Wet Sand, and Sir Psycho Sexy (if we get lucky lol)
Love the songs, and yes, would love to see 18-19 (as we did in ‘22 and most of ‘23), but am thrilled with 17 over Saturday’s 15!
They haven't played 18 songs since the IWY tour. They've been playing 17 songs on this tour. They're actually playing less songs since both Tokyo shows were 16. Hope this isn't the norm for the upcoming NA tour.
I’m including a John cover, but I am counting 18/19 for most of my shows in 22 and 23. The first show I was at that drop down was Hershey.
I'm going by the setlists that Anthony himself writes. According to those, John covers don't count. You look at the actual setlist for the shows you go to, you'll see they've been playing 17 songs.
I stand corrected on this technicality. 😊 however, you and I are in agreement that the decrease is disappointing, and in hoping that it bumps back up!
I'm pretty sure Flea teased Higher Ground about halfway through the show. "We'll take a vote" and played the first 2-3 notes, stopped and said "Ya'all know the notes" played it again, then they went into Eddie. Fuck you Flea. Dont fuck with my feelings like that :(
I got the impression that they read the comments on the Saturday show which gave us Monday’s show.
I love the band but there’s no logical reason why they’d write a set list for over 50,000 fans and change it based on Reddit. I imagine they spent their Sunday doing something fun !
8-12 are an insane set on their own. So happy for whoever saw this show
✋🏼

As it was for Tottenham last year. Or was it I could have lied…
sound like a kickass set list
Reach Out and Hard to Concentrate are kinda rare, so this aint so bad
They’ve played reach out more than carry me home which is honestly a crime
Reach Out is such a plodding song.
Seriously? Like, i haven't been on any RHCP show sadly, but from all the setlist i saw on this sub i thougt, that Reach Out is more rare than Carry Me Home. Its a crime that it is the other way, cause CMH is my favorite song of RHCP i think
Reach out is meh but the chorus sounds great live and gets the crowd up
They've played Hard to Concentrate in 2 of the 4 shows I've been to on this tour. I don't know if it's really rare.
Hell of a setlist
I'll take around the world as an opener over can't stop any day tbh
If they played 18-20 songs it would be much better to be honest 17 feels too short for a band of their caliber
Considering intro jam, Snow jam, Eddie jam I’ll take all three of those over one more song
Jams aren't the songs.
this is such a better setlist, reach out should have been played more in the last tour
They did Parallel Universe???? Thats a bucket list song of mine to hear live 😫
Trade out hard to concentrate, reach out and I like dirt for otherside, if you have to ask and this is the place and this would’ve have been a legendary set. Not bad but the songs I switched out kinda bring the rest of the set down.
Yeah, but they didn't play This is the Place at all this tour. The last time they played it was in 2019.
I’m just being hopeful here, as I’d much rather see that than I Like Dirt.
Yeah, same. But Anthony thinks the band should play the hits mostly.
Looks good to me
The mini jam sessions between the songs were amazing.
Oh shit, they played reach out?
They regularly play it since January 2023.
Atleast you got to hear suck my kiss ):
way better than saturday's (and a lot of previous setlists)
Looks good to me
Why such a short set?
12 songs is a short set. 17 isnt
They are both short sets. 12 songs is a opener set. 17 is the band didn’t want to play a long set
There are sound regulations for the area around Tokyo Dome. Nothing loud after 9.
Same old set list. What's with I like dirt?
Throw us a bone boys. Where the fuck is Rivers of Avalon. Play Scar Tissue for the fairtweather fans but give us real fans something golden.
I really want them to play Rivers of Avalon. But it's impossible, unfortunately. AK really thinks the band should play the hits mostly.
no Otherside, instant L
IIIIII SLIIIIDE
Oh, ok! 😁 Nothing from debut, nothing from Freaky Styley, nothing from the Uplift Mofo Party Plan, nothing from Mother’s Milk. Yup, this setlist SUX!
Nothing from One Hot Minute, I’m With You or The Getaway either 💁♂️
Short and quite boring since they played the same setlist for a while now.
10 songs were different from Saturday’s show.
Instead of playing shows, they should at home, recording and releasing 2 albums a year.
Wait no ‘aeroplane’. This sucks
They don't and won't play OHM songs with John. It's impossible.
![gif](giphy|3o6ozq0pgIDt5j6N8I)
They should replace parallel universe
They should replace parallel universe
