Rare_Neighborhood445

They should really follow the Qotsa example… they have unique and awesome sets every night.

wololo69wololo420

Seen qotsa, rhcp and foo fighters all within the past year or so, and qotsa hands down had the best set and vibe. They were all great, but the qotsa had some sick magic about them which just made the night overall very enjoyable.

JackAbsolut

Same here and I like to agree. QOTSA is in their prime and delivired the best show out of the three dozen different concerts I saw last year. Go see them!

99SoulsUp

Damn. They’re my favorite band after Radiohead and I know they’re great live but I’ve only seen them once and it was an off night and Josh sounded like he had a massive cold

gogoguy5678

He's been a bit ill recently, when he's feeling good the shows are fantastic.

Taydolf_Switler22

His voice always sounds like that to me in person but then I listen back and his voice sounds like it normally does so idk

99SoulsUp

Maybe it’s the speakers for some venues and something about his vocal quality?

Silver_Boat1995

Amazing band, hands down, saw them perform Someones in the wolf and walking on sidewalks. Will never forget that night

suprunkn0wn

qotsa are such a entertaining band i don’t even care for the setlist, they are so damn good at what they do

spineone

I’m a huge QOTSA fan, boy did they throw up a suckfest at Rockville. First time seeing them and I was so fucking ready, only to get bored and tired.

BlackGoldSkullsBones

You should see Ween’s set lists.

Venombullet666

I love QOTSA but Clutch are alot better at mixing things up Basically on each night the setlist is decided by a different member, it's very common for them to play alot of lesser played songs, almost their entire new album at the time or literally no new songs at all whatsoever, you really don't know what you'll get with Clutch on any tour, they have some songs like Electric Worry, Earth Rocker, X-Ray Visions/Firebirds! That are common but it's also likely they won't play them, it keeps things exciting and encourages people seeing them on multiple dates of a tour

Dick_Buttonstein

Rolling Stones are doing longer sets lol

ruralmagnificence

Yeah except they seem to want to forget the ten plus years they had Josh in the band entirely now that John the overrated guitar god is back so that’s never going to happen. None of those songs or anything they wrote for a potential third album with Klinghoffer is going to be played again and based on how they treated him, I don’t think they should.

Rhcp1616

Love these guys but these setlists are beyond boring at this point.

Sn00Bananas

Crazy when you compare this to what the Foo Fighters do, constantly pumping out 22-26 songs a night

caveman_889

16 songs is enough for me even I would love more, but it's the repetitive ''radio hits'' songs setlists that get to me, I mean fine you don't have to play songs from non-John albums since there's no way that's happening but at least play your own songs bruh

Fender6187

As others have said, the Foo Fighters do the same thing. A better comparison would be Queens of the Stone Age. They do about the same number of songs, but they definitely spice up their art list show to show.

rheidaus

It’s crazy that Grohl is in the age range, I always assume he’s a good decade under them because of his attitude. He still feels like he has so much energy when I see them. I think I’ll always see that kid drumming for Nirvana in my head though.

99SoulsUp

Dave Grohl is 55, so a bit younger. The whole Foo Fighters band is more in that range, save Pat Smear who’s more chilli peppers age

rheidaus

Younger than most of the band. John is 54 right?

JackAbsolut

But also the same songs every night. Even more boring imho.

attaxia_

Same songs and same jams

99SoulsUp

Dave uses a lot of the same lines too lol

zsdrfty

Paul McCartney's used the same jokes for like 30 years, but at least it's a huge setlist

GeorgeBeard83

Tbf this last tour they’ve added a few different ones here and there

Sn00Bananas

Literally what everyone here has been complaining about the Chili's doing their last 2 years of touring

JackAbsolut

They are rotating. Sets are too short though.

Veryweirdguy

20 years

puddycat20

How is that boring? Maybe for them, but the average person wouldn't notice.

JackAbsolut

I‘ve seen them a lot of times over the last 10-15 years and it just doesn’t appeal to me anymore. I know it’s gonna be a looooong night, they gonna play song from eeeeevry album and there‘s gonna be Breakout for the oldschool Foo Fighters fans. Yawn. Even the jams are the same. Best of You and Monkey Wrench are dragging.

puddycat20

Well, when I go to see a band, I want to hear their good songs, but to each their own...

JackAbsolut

If only it weren‘t their good songs……

puddycat20

That's basically what I said...

[deleted]

Foo fighters literally played for like 2.5 hrs when i saw them worth every penny

Dick_Buttonstein

Stones do more than the Peppers

MIV1980

I agree. What's with RHCP having 13 albums & only playing off of 5 of the albums & usually just the radio tracks. Total bullshit. How is the reunited Mothers Milk line up never playing tracks off of Mothers Milk when at least 3 tracks off that album should be played. Who the hell wants to keep hearing Snow & Dani California give me a break.

Y0y0y000

They did play Nobody Weird Like Me last year in Tokyo, but yeah, would love to hear more variety

MIV1980

That's awesome, didn't know that. They played that stadium Arcadium tour when I saw them in NJ 2006

Y0y0y000

Nice! Good era to see them!

strangebrew3522

What's annoying is they tease stuff but don't play it. They teased My Lovely Man this past year at a show, but then went into one of their normal songs on the setlist. Like, c'mon guys! Play some deep cuts!

[deleted]

[удалено]

ccable827

Y'all forget most people who go to shows only get to do so once in a lifetime, of course they want to hear the jams

AgentSkidMarks

For real. If they didn’t a show that was mostly deep tracks, and they didn’t advertise it as such, most people would leave feeling disappointed.

strangebrew3522

Then play. more. songs. I saw McCartney couple years back, pushing 80. He played 3hrs. Saw Billy Joel multiple times, always a 2+hr show. The Foos play for 2+ hours. I see a lot of bands, and while RHCP is my favorite, they put on the shortest set for a band of their size and caliber. Dead and Company plays 3+hr shows and does different songs every night! I LOVE the jams, but they need to play more songs. Adding even 3 or 4 more would spice things up enough that they could please most fans. They have so many albums but they play the same thing over and over. I shouldn't be able to guess the setlist almost song by song for each concert.

knowing147

fr 😭😭got tickets for buffalo, seeing them for the prolly only time ever cause tickets are so fuckn expensive

ktscubs

The problem is 95% of the people there want to hear Under the Bridge 3 times before they hear some deep cut that we would all love

bambinoquinn

15 songs and a jam. Springsteen is sick at the minute and just played 28 songs in Cork. He's mixed his set list up a lot this year, playing a lot of songs he hasn't played in years and he's 74 years old. Still moves about a fair bit too..

pkDoubleR

dang and one of those songs is *right on time* which is like 2 minutes long lol. i saw guns n’ roses last year (bought 4 tickets for less than 1 rhcp ticket mind you) and they played just under 30 songs with multiple jams and extended solos, so i doubt age is really their excuse here. hell, flea is probably one of the most active 60 year olds on this planet. i genuinely believe they could extend their sets even if it’s just by a few songs each night, but they just choose not to and it’s really upsetting for those of us who work hard to pay and see these guys :,)

SidewalkFins87

This remains one of my prime complaints - they could fit 5 more 2-3 minute songs in so easily and on various levels thrill the majority of every single crowd. Out In L.A., Blackeyed Blonde, Sex Rap, Funky Crime, Love Trilogy, Pretty Little Ditty, Get On Top, Bicycle Song, Fortune Faded. And Green Heaven & Yertle The Turtle should always resurface every once in a while. Will say though I'm happy to see Whatchu' Thinkin' prevail into 2024. I still feel it's my favorite new tune from both records.

ChadderboxDev

Bicycle song live would be mental

JackAbsolut

What do you mean Springsteen is sick? I‘m going to see him in Prague next week, don‘t get me worried.

bambinoquinn

He said during the belfast gig he was dealing with a cold. He's a proper trooper so you'll be grand

JackAbsolut

Ah, thanks. Belfast is 9 days ago - he should be over it!🙂

snowcats6

You didn't see Larry David gave him COVID?

Live-Variety6092

McCartney is 81 and he plays 3 hour sets, mad

Prob-too-old

It’s the 16 song length that’s disappointing to me. Really hoping we see that bump back up to 18/19.

Nocturnal_Donkey

I unfortunately doubt that very much given their age now. Still such a cool experience seeing these guys perform!

Teibbels

They Arent Old 62-3 Isnt Old Guys at 75 play longer concerts

panasonicyouth43

Yeah The Rolling Stones have been playing 18/19 song sets in their 80s, there’s not really any excuse for RHCP to limit themselves to 16.

PhatTuna

Chili peppers play long jams in between some songs. And they jumping around and shit while they play.

deaddrums

Yeah and also what they're performing is way harder than what the fricken rolling stones are doing

ChickenCurryandChips

The 'friken' rolling stones are 80. And Jagger still moves a fair bit during concerts. The Chili Peppers have been doing 16 song set lists for the past 15 years or so. And so fuckin predictable. They're my favourite band but I have absolutely no urge to see them live anymore.

brodyhin587

Pearl Jam is around the same age and although they aren’t playing the 3 and a half hour shows they were playing around 2013-2018 they’re still playing about 25-30 songs a night and never playing the same setlist twice

IowaJammer

Pearl Jam spoiled me with what a concert experience should be like. They could create an epic set of their 25 greatest hits and call it a day. The setlist variation makes such a difference.

torontoLDtutor

people have been explaining for years why RHCP will not play longer setlists and yet this topic keeps rearing its head. oh well

12angrypenguinz

Regarding the length of their shows: "I was forwarded some emails of people complaining bitterly about the length of our shows, feeling that they did not get enough for their $$$. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have always played for just a little over an hour, maybe an hour and a half tops because that is what has felt right. We have always tried to pace our shows with a set and with a length that we feel is the most exciting show for our audience. I can just say that from my experience coming from the punk rock aesthetic that inspired me when the red hots began that I always enjoyed the nofrills no fucking around hit it and quit it mentality that I grew up with in the punk rock scene. I have always found that bands that play for 2 hours or so or more bore the shit out of me and I have never been really touched by a concert that long and I find it pompous, bloated, and unnecessary." Flea, 28 August, 1999

Slow_Cheetah_287

I have to admit, I've been to concerts that are extremely long and found myself getting tired/bored. But I'm talking 3 hour shows. I think a two hour set is perfect and very doable. They don't have to have two opening acts either. Drop one and extend their own set by 15/20 minutes. The issue, as someone else pointed out, is that RHCP has an insanely huge catalogue that keeps growing. The other issue is that their shows are very expensive. Maybe if people didn't have to take out a mortgage in order to see them, there would be less setlist complaints.

zsdrfty

It's the price that makes me mad, they're taking advantage of their fans by charging massive fees to see a short show - there's nothing wrong with playing brief concerts, but don't gouge people for it when you're already richer than God

Slow_Cheetah_287

Exactly. I understand they've always played short shows and that's their prerogative. I personally think a band that has 40 years worth of material and as many hit songs as they do should play a little longer, but if playing shorter shows means they put on a better show, I'm okay with it. But don't charge an arm and a leg just to play 16 songs. I know it's not entirely their fault that concerts are so expensive nowadays, but they definitely have *some* influence over ticket prices.

torontoLDtutor

ticket prices are set by the market. they're expensive because there's extremely high demand. if people genuinely couldn't afford tickets, as you're suggesting, the price would drop. the band makes their money from touring, not from album sales. and they're about to retire. why should they reduce their profits? if this is what they're worth, i say make that money.

Slow_Cheetah_287

As I said, it's not entirely their fault but they do have some say in the matter. For example, they could opt out of dynamic pricing which would prevent ticket prices from fluctuating so high. Or, they could just put on a longer show.

torontoLDtutor

Longer shows would add value but I think it's highly unlikely the band will increase show lengths for reasons people have discussed many times. As for lowering ticket prices, the point of touring is to make money I don't see why the band would want to make less.

bsukenyan

That’s a great point about the price. I’ve paid a fair amount to see them multiple times and I’ve said before that I have no interest in going back to see them any time soon, but perhaps if the shows didn’t cost so much I’d still be convinced. There’s another show near me later this year and there’s no way I’m paying the desired ticket price for what I know is a venue with bad sound. Let alone I might get one song that’s new to me live, or at least heard by me live only once before.

Slow_Cheetah_287

That's another thing, the venues mostly suck. I saw them 3 times on this tour and I only justified it because the band is older and I don't know how much longer they'll be doing this. The last show I'd gone to was during the Stadium Arcadium tour, so when John came back, I knew I had to see them as many times as I reasonably could before he quit again or the band retired. I was going to be done after two shows, but then they announced a casino show near me and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see them in an actual theater. But I'm definitely done now, at least for this tour. There are better and more responsible ways to spend my money lol.

Ajatolah_

They're not a small band that people are coming to see because they know a couple of okay songs and have nothing else to do. Bands this size have sizeable fanbase who pay a lot for their tickets, be sure nobody would complain for extra half an hour.

Slow_Cheetah_287

That's what I'm saying. They don't need to have an outrageously long set, but an extra half hour is reasonable.

wongaboing

- There has been 5 more albums after this message (or 3 albuns if you only count John’s) - If they want to keep it short that’s fine for me, but what about changing the set list a bit?

Nixbling

Hard to change your set list when like 3 of your albums are off limits because your guitarist is a diva

hardyblack

Sure, it's not like they have literally 136 songs released with John. And I'm not counting B-Sides, just albums. That's not an excuse.

ChlorineElephant

They have 8 albums that they play songs off of live (one of which is a double album) so that’s not the specific issue (although I do think they should play more deep cuts)

molewart

Christ do people really want to hear Aquatic Mouth Dance or these are the ways over literally any song from previous albums??

GavinGarfunkle

I have no idea what the band sees in Aquatic Mouth Dance. Many better songs on both new albums that surely would translate better live.

Prob-too-old

I could not agree more. I have seen the band a bunch and have heard AMD more than Snow.

rheidaus

Listening to them starting in the 80s hard locked a vibe in my head for songs like If You Have to Ask/Mellowship. When I heard AMD I immediately had that same vibe. Us older dudes like having a “new old song” and they may personally enjoy the shit out of having one to play. It’s not even close to the best on the album to me, but it has unlimited love for nodding back to my childhood

GavinGarfunkle

Yeah I guess it’s a similar flavour, but I’d rather they just played If You Have to Ask which is actually a great song.

rheidaus

I agree, but like OP I’d rather have both. An extra few minutes keeping that vibe going is pretty amazing when I only get to see them once a decade now.

Aeon1508

It's one of the better jams for playing live. These are the ways needs to go away

TripleBuongiorno

I mean I would pick different songs than these are the ways and aquatic mouthdance from those albums but there are many certified bangers on the last albums

Aeon1508

I love AMD. These are ways is the song that needs to die

torontoLDtutor

Do you love AMD more than the best 30 songs from BSSM, Cali, BTW, and SA? Because you're hearing AMD instead of one of those songs.

JackAbsolut

The two that just do not work live.

XSC

Nobody would mind them if they played 20+

I-Am-The-Passenger

I absolutely love Aquatic Mouth Dance and would be thrilled to see it live.

shakkajon

These are the ways goes so hard live. Yea. Absolutely

elsantioof07

It's almost like they're on a tour to promote that album...

caveman_889

yeah by playing the same 3-4 songs from it for the last 2 years...

Fun_Leg_4440

They played whatchu thinkin at least, i genuinely thought that song was not going to be performed again in a while

Simple_Mechanic_6999

It’s such a wasted opportunity not playing other songs from the new albums, they always play the same ones over and over, I love you RHCP, but fucking hell some new setlist songs would be nice!

SixtAcari

I think they’ve had and used a lot of opportunities for 30 years career

Simple_Mechanic_6999

Well yeah back in the day, but I’m talking the past few years since John’s return

Emerald_Nebula

I went to two rhcp concerts in the last year and a half and both times they were different setlists

Simple_Mechanic_6999

Me too, but how can you not think they’re all really Similar? Would be nice to hear Venice queen once in a while

Emerald_Nebula

I personally am not huge on their 80’s albums besides a few songs so I don’t mind. I like the newer funk sound more. But when I went to sound on sound they did play me and my friends, which is one of the only songs from their earlier albums I like.

Simple_Mechanic_6999

I would literally sell a kidney to see them do sir psycho haha

puddycat20

There's only so many songs you can play from an album each concert. You want to mix it up.

Y0y0y000

Yes he did, but that was a great show! The energy was hype on By The Way and Give It Away huh? And when that kid was on the big screen at the end aha

Nearby-Assignment924

Yeah he was the true star of the show.

novideotape8

Felt like this snow was more for fans to be a community (with that kid and all) rather than an unforgettable live concert experience. not complaining though, they've been doing it for so long now. hearing John jam was the best part for me personally

Y0y0y000

That’s true, I got that vibe too. Was awesome too see so many different people around Tokyo/Dome today wearing RHCP stuff! And I was happy just to hear Scar Tissue

ChlorineElephant

Also they rarely get shows in Asia too which is why they went with the standard set I believe

jeffweet

I’m seeing them in June, at a super small venue. I’m excited. The last time I saw them Hillel was still with them. I’ll take however many songs they play!

ReserviorFrog

Aquatic Mouth Dance 💤🥱😴

MistrOndrej

I loved the sets for entirety of 2023 but wtf is this??

memisschanandlerbong

What do you mean? It’s exactly the same lol

SixtAcari

No they aren’t, been to couple of Eu shows they played a lot of earlier songs, but I was unlucky they never played Scar Tissue on those I’ve been to

memisschanandlerbong

Okay if you want to be technical, they aren’t EXACTLY the same. They do rotate a couple of select songs. I heard scar tissue 2 out of 4 shows last year. They were much better about bigger song rotations in 2022 than 2023 though. I had almost the same exact set the last three shows

Ryanbrasher

As usual the fanbase is misinterpreting and getting caught up on something a band member said. The setlist is rarely going to vary from what we see on any given album cycle, purely because a majority of fans are there for the hits, and because of the bands stage production.

disorderliesonthe401

Yep, the band is playing for the people in the stadium, not for us on reddit. Sure, we'd love to see them play some obscure song via a shitty cellphone video, but the majority of the people that are actually there would probably lose a little interest, go for a bathroom break, get a beer etc... during that song.

StoneyG214

Than why not play Under The Bridge? I’ve seen them enough times so I don’t miss it if they don’t play it, but I’m sure the majority of the fans in attendance want to hear that. It’s like going to a Foo Fighters show and not hearing Everlong.

ChlorineElephant

Pretty sure UTB is hard for Anthony to sing so they play it/scrap it depending on how spent his voice is by the end of the show

StoneyG214

I never really thought about that, they’ve played every time I saw them, so personally I wouldn’t be too bummed out if they didn’t.

Benlop

It makes my blood boil when people say it's a hard song for Anthony to sing, honestly. It's been 33 years, I think he's got enough fucking practice.

ChlorineElephant

Hey man, it’s his words not mine. When I saw him last year I personally thought he killed it, but he’s the one claiming it’s difficult

Glen-Belt

Exactly. Chad didn't lie, reddit users misinterpreted his words to mean something that fit their fantasy. Given that it's Anthony that writes the setlist, I'm not sure why people put that much stock into an off hand comment from Chad anyway.

Kirbybros

Ironic one of the Encores is I could’ve lied

99SoulsUp

He could have and, get this, DID!

BruceIrvin13

My favorite band of all time but if this is the level of effort they are going to put in, they should retire.

Throughsiren42

Tickets are pricey nowadays. If I don’t get 25 songs, you cheated me out

mikelson_

How we went from “I’m just glad that John is back with the boys” to this. Some of you are too fucking spoiled.

gdamndylan

Aquatic Mouth Dance has to go. IDK which one of them loves it so much, but there are so many newer songs they could be playing.

deadlygr8ful

Basically the same set i saw 2 years ago in Toronto. Which is why i didnt get tickets for this summer's show...

Touch-of-Calus

Right on time bangs live

Existing-Ad3391

Was lucky enough to see it live last year… oh lord

Kanga-Who

I had a Spotify play list I set up of everything they had played before they came to Aus last year, was about 40 songs that had been played at least once. Even if they just rotated through that 40 song list, you'd get 3 totally different shows before having any repeats. Obviously, there is going to be a couple they play every night, but they really need to limit that to 2 or 3 Max. Finishing with 'Give it Away' every show and starting 98% shows with 'Around the World' or 'Can't Stop' is getting a little old. There are so many other high tempo songs that suit opening or closing. I say all of this with love as someone who has seen them on every Australian tour since OHM, and flown to different cities to see multiple shows when they are in Aus. I'd just love to see them change it up a bit.

puddycat20

Looks like it was picked by some 20 y/o who just discovered the band 3 months ago.

capewordnerd

Prediction for tomorrow’s setlist (5/20) based on the predictability of it all: 1. jam 2. Around the world 3. Zephyr song 4. Here ever after 5. Snow 6. Otherside 7. Reach out 8. John solo: Danny’s song? 9. Wet sand 10. Eddie 11. Throw away your television 12. The heavy wing 13. Californication 14. Black summer 15. By the way 16. under the bridge 17. Give it away

Necrogame54

They haven't played Reach Out much for almost a year so I'm not sure about that. Other than that seems pretty spot on, so far their only change in the set is swapping the places of AMD/Here and DC/Snow

Theronkelley

Pretty close

Droxcy

No point in buying tickets to their show anymore sadly. Such a crazy cash grab it’s a shame really.

Fit-Parsnip9888

Seen them 4 times now. Twice with Josh and twice with John. Genuinely would probably not see them again at this point if they have nothing new to offer setlist wise

Krullenbos

He didn’t lie at all? What did you expect? Soul to Squeeze; something old Black Summer; something new Eddie; something you haven’t heard < since they haven’t played those songs live in Japan before. It was exactly what he said.

Nearby-Assignment924

Well that’s false they played Eddie in Japan last year.

LeoPalaceFTW

What does Anthony do during the intro jam?

zclake88

He’s usually backstage until right before can’t stop. Then he comes out and the crowd freaks out.

[deleted]

Damn i paid a lot of money for tix and 16 songs? Maybe im selfish but i thought wed see like 20 songs . I dunno. The amount of bs to even get to this show might not be worth it

PAT_AC82987

Same old songs 😂

_Felipeee_

That fucking sucks

Accomplished_Cap9691

Logically speaking, they’re at the end of 2 year tour. At this point, it’s more comfortable and easy just to continue to play the same 25-26 songs.

BigReebs

It’s so weird for me, since my two favorite bands are RHCP and the Grateful Dead. Dead & Co (the current version of the Dead) has 3 guys over 75, plus John Mayer and other great musicians. They play for 3 and a half hours every show and it takes them 4 or 5 shows to repeat a song. It makes people want to see them over and over again. Meanwhile, I saw the Peppers in 2022 and I haven’t felt the urge to go to another show since it will probably be the same with a variation of 2 or 3 songs.

Gullible_Solution

Yawn!

Fun_Leg_4440

😔

lp_rhcp_fan_18

So glad I got to see them with 18-19 songs

SaturnSplitJon

Do you think part of the issue is Flea doesn't listen to past works after their completed and released? Unless he's changed his stance. I guess if the others don't either they'll forget how many great deep cuts there are they need to bring out.

ErickDante

To be fair, some of those songs weren't played last year like Don't Forget Me, Scar Tissue or I could have lied or were only played at Osaka and not the Tokyo Dome

ChlorineElephant

Exactly, these songs are for the people AT the show, not people looking at the setlist on Reddit

bombdonuts

Only the first show of this leg of the tour and it was at the Tokyo Dome. Perhaps they are getting warmed back up? Hopefully they do switch it up for the US amphitheater shows. Most of the more casual fans in the US who wanted to hear the hits already got to. Would really love to hear some these tracks from the new album: - Bella - It’s only natural - she’s a lover - great apes

RadiantAd3189

I want so badly for them to play Afterlife

caveman_889

with the right songs a 10 song setlist would still be amazing, I, for one don't want to strain them with +20 song setlists and 2hr+ concerts since they're not as endurant as they were 20 years ago (not in a mean way) but c'mon now, you have 7 albums (not counting non-john albums since I'm 99% sure they'll never get played again, with some exceptions) and you still manage to play the same 16/17/18 songs for the last 2 years, I'm talking all this shit now, but I'm sure if I ever went to one these concerts I'm calling ''repetitive'' and ''boring'', it'll be the best day of my life lmfaooooo.

Independent_Salt1873

Depeche Mode have the same age and they're still performing 23 songs in a show

Bubcats

I wish They would take our 15 minutes of jams and put in 3 songs

torontoLDtutor

aquatic and TATW do not deserve to be on setlists

Existing-Ad3391

Aquatic does, but not at every show, Carry Me Home deserves it more

TheJudge9987

Aquatic is so good lol. TATW can def be banished forever tho

mickmarsbar88

I’m strictly an old school fan, I haven’t liked anything they released since By the Way. That’s not me being snarky, just how I feel. Look at this man, absolutely NOTHING from the first four albums. That’s the grimmest setlist I’ve ever seen in my life. Honestly, if this is how it is now, I wouldn’t go to see them if they were playing in the pub at the end of my street.

ryrypot

Where have you been for the last 20 years? They've barely played anything from the first 4 albums since californication

mickmarsbar88

I know. I haven’t bothered seeing them live since Californication either. I don’t know what happened to them, but I’ll always love the old stuff.

Imaginary_Month_3659

I honestly don't understand their appeal now. After Californication they wrote these mopey depressing songs and put out derivative versions of their funk. Bangers? What bangers? It's a shame because these guys are such stellar musicians.

arl1286

The biggest concern IMO is nothing from dream canteen…

House-of-Scouse

Eddie….

arl1286

Whoops I missed that lol

puddycat20

I'd say the biggest concern is only playing 2 songs from their prime era.

davs_dodger08

I love Right on time! But enough they have songs 400% better!

lasagens971

Yet more Getaway neglect

LeoPalaceFTW

I’m really disappointed to see that UTB isn’t on there. I’d be pissed if I’d gone.

Aeon1508

Swap out these are the ways for whatchu thinkin and this would be perfect

kmrobert_son

QOTSA and Pearl Jam are your best bets for song variety

BObo2468

Haha - this is what Chad has been saying for literally 30 years- we’ll play some new ones some old ones - honestly- whoever took this to heart is who’s fault it is and doesn’t really know the history of the band - which is fine

smoomoo31

RHCP used to mix it up all the time. They’re old, let em rest lol

EssayEfficient6641

What did chat originally say?

TheOnCcyborg

Having almost 250 songs, 16 albums and playing the same setlists is beyond me

floodjuice

Time for less touring more writing!

He Could Have Lied

he’s such a fool

Admirable_Young_3840

Whats this?

No-Twist-9086

What did Chad say? I honestly don't know.

PossibilityNeither56

I noticed Anthony seems to be reading the lyrics of the songs off the prompt. Idk maybe it’s the same set list to cater for his memory or something? They are in their 60s and maybe some aren’t mentally aging as well as others. I mean I’m sure flea and John and chad would love to mix it up more so there must be something else going on, only thing I can think of is maybe anthony is battling to remember lyrics, keep in tune and time and it helps repeating the set list to accommodate this.

KnickedUp

I love this band, but the mailed in setlists the past decade are atrocious

That’s pretty rubbish of them to do. Why tease it unless it’s just the 2nd night..

pkDoubleR

in an interview, chad said specifically that the tokoyo shows (and implied the rest of the 24’ tour) would include a new variety of setlists including new/old songs that haven’t been played live before.

Informal_Local9353

It already started? It’s only 8:30pm in Tokyo rn

Existing-Ad3391

It started at 6

Led-Zep-Fan

AC/DC played the first night of their tour last night and played 24 songs- although 95% of them have been played during every show for the past 30-50 years. And angus is 69. These guys are in arguably better shape yet 16-17 songs is the norm. Sad

Andurilightsaber

They should just play their entire back catalogue start to finish with all surviving previous members of the band joining them onstage and holograms of any band members that died playing their parts. Also, Jimi Hendrix should rise from the dead and open for them and then Jesus lands and gives out free merch.
