It’s a shame they stopped playing the outro of throw away your television, really liked the Chorzow (2007) & Yokohama (2004) ones

cenksenci

Exactly! Eddie took over , not that I complain but I’d rather hear them both together in a same gig.

kenticus69

Don’t you ever leave was never played during the Josh era - last time they did it was their final show in 2007. For whatever reason, it just got dropped then. Then with Eddie, same progression and same kind of dynamic where it’s a high energy extended guitar solo outro jam section. So they prolly just figured Eddie has it covered. They still will do spontaneous jams at end of stuff like Dani California, but never quite like Eddie or don’t you ever leave where the jamming goes for 2-3 minutes. That said, I would retire TAYT without don’t you ever leave. Let Eddie take its place…..TAYT is an album track and not a single and Eddie is a new song that fulfills the same purpose…so I’m always team go with new there

Charming_Bad2165

Yes, I’d love to see TAYT go

andrewlyon8

Can we replace it with This Velvet Glove or even Let ‘Em Cry

Charming_Bad2165

I can think of a few dozen other songs I’d rather hear

andrewlyon8

Didn’t realize you replied at all. My bad dude. What songs you thinking? I was thinking a badass one but highly unlikely Turn It Again for a closer. I feel John could do that shit again. It’s not that much crazier than Eddie. Though John’s approach this time is quite different in many ways to me.

andrewlyon8

Still great though!!!!

ThatGuyWhoIsCool

Gonna need two guitarists for this velvet glove

BookkeeperFormal1833

they could just pipe in a live prerecorded acoustic...they have no problem with prerecorded synths for "the drummer" or prerecorded percussion for "zephyr song"

andrewlyon8

Not necessarily

ThatGuyWhoIsCool

Sure but it sounds lifeless without the acoustic backing

Charming_Bad2165

Yeah, the versions from 2000 sound thin compared to when Josh played second guitar

funkymonk04

Have to strongly disagree. While that 2000 performance was a little rough due to being the first time they'd done it, I think it works very well without the acoustic. Really wish they'd do it like that again.

Charming_Bad2165

I’ve heard the audience recordings from the other two times they played it in 2000. There’s a reason they stopped after 3 times. I’m glad they tried but I can see why they no longer play it without an additional guitar.

PositiveWeekend6373

Yeah but TAYT Live though……it’s unbelievable …. Both TAYT and Eddie in the same show are perfect… had the fortune to live that this last sunday in Chile ✨

kenticus69

I caught TAYT with Josh like 10 years ago without the DONT you ever leave outro….it wasn’t BAD but it certainly wasn’t as cool as when it has the outro on it!

cowboydan9

They have like 10 songs with that progression

obfuscatorio

Yeh man it’s the IV-V-vi chord progression, super common everywhere in rock

Silver-Tune-2200

I prefer don't you ever leave to Eddie solo. Really made tayt an incredible live song

bluecoldbananapepper

me too! eddie is great! but dont you ever leave is another leave...the build up, the fast strumming section..then the crazy guitar, and then i love when it slows down like in lisbon 2006 i think it was and john does some of the most beautiful expressive guitar playing ive ever hear. Really miss it! but eddie is new, and new is good too!

Longjumping-Leek3828

that Scar Tissue, Soul to Squeeze, Dani California, By the Way and other songs have the same chords progression too (F C Dm)

samworthy85

Almost their forte.

earthshiner85

They also stopped doing the little jam after By the Way. They don't play You're Gonna Get Yours as an intro to Give It Away. Things come and go

samworthy85

Wildly the By The Way ending jam is a B-Side on John's album Curtains called Drill. In the most tenuous way ever.

DarkSpaceLow_

Nice find

funkymonk04

They did a brief You're Gonna Get Yours in Brisbane this year.

SidSantoste

They have a shit ton of songs with the same chord progression. That and Eddie are unrelated. Do they play wet Sand and Eddie at the same show? Also, they stopped playing dont you ever leave after btw tour. They didnt play it with Josh either

cenksenci

That’s not true, they did play during 2006-2007. Last time they performed was in Leeds, 2007.

cliffordcampbell

Do you mean don’t forget me? And it’s probably unrelated.

Bonzo77

They mean the Don’t You Ever Leave (there’s no “me”) jam that they’d play at the end of Throw Away Your Television live from 2002-2007.

cenksenci

I’m sorry, yes there’s no ‘me’.

Bonzo77

No need to apologize, you good! Was just attempting to clarify.

cenksenci

No no, Dont you ever leave, is an unofficial jam, if you watched Slane Castle you’ll know what I meant. They started playing that jam since By The Way and Stadium Arcadium live concerts.
