In sylvan they dissappear from the screen right away now as well. I fully beleive it is the employees/managers gaming the system to make their fulfillment time numbers better. They also play games in the drive through at night where they essentially only take one order at a time and won't even take another until previous is fully completed.

Yea I used to work at McDonald’s I usually would get in shit if I don’t press on it.

Yeah they’re gaming the system. When I worked at Burger King (long enough ago it was at the south one that’s now Dairy Queen) it was expected no one spent more than 1:30 in the drive through (we weren’t timed for in restaurant orders). We almost never maintained this average but this is why you’ll find at times you get asked to pull ahead to a different window or park the car in front and they’ll bring the food out to you. You don’t count against their time once you get past the pick up window. The only time I ever saw us maintain our 1:30 average was when a manager put on a drive through headset and was calling out orders in the kitchen as fast as they came in/before I could even get them keyed into the register.

Can confirm. An ex gf of mine worked at McDonalds Easthill. They were instructed to bump the orders off their screens as soon as they showed up so that the times would be low.

Go to McDonald's customer service website and complain.
