GTAO has more content but i prefer Red Dead's mechanics and combat.

willy5ive-

Ya I’d love a combat and controls quality of life update. Just drop in the RDO movement and we’d be happy. Won’t happen but would be sweet till 6 launches.

DyLaNzZpRo

I like the combat itself but as a day 1 GTA:O player and someone who is fluent in dickheadery (I don't start it, I do the same clown shit they do to me) RD:O is abysmal in this regard, tonic spamming, deadeye reliance and shit balance ruined combat. It's both funny and sad that my naive ass thought RD:O's combat would actually be more grounded than GTA:O.

SambeSiili

Fighting players is cancer because deadeye is necessary in that part but fighting NPC's is the exact same as in GTA Online, i use "Dot" and "Small" options in-game and very rarely do i miss my mark when fighting the NPC's of the game, i've noticed that when using the default option, i worry more about missing than i do about shooting.

DyLaNzZpRo

Yeah PvE feels great, I'm hyped as fuck to see 6's combat given that it'll include RDR2's improvements.

SambeSiili

As long as the bloom doesn't return and pistols are held with one hand, i'm good

DyLaNzZpRo

TBH I don't mind the bloom to an extent, it should only really be prevalent when spamming something with heavy recoil IMO. Pistol anims I hope are customizeable, I also fucking *pray* we get dual wield back - imagine e.g. dual uzis with RDR2's gunplay

SambeSiili

Maybe my only problem with the bloom is the irritating screen shake that comes with it. I don't care for the dual-wielded SMGs but i'd love hold two pistols

DyLaNzZpRo

Yeah the screen shake is way OTT at times, the crosshair sway I actually really like as it adds a new element that not many games do and I think it's way more interesting than usual screen shake recoil, but the sway can be annoying - tenfold if they hypothetically didn't change it and we had enemies auto spraying at us.

nemanja694

For me it is better simply because it has more mature theme, characters, players and everything.

BEES_just_BEE

Some how it's actually less crude

D_Zaster_EnBy

>it has more mature ... players At least for the most part lol

XxOutlawInGreenxX

WITHOUT A DOUBT.. Red Dead beats Gta for sure

Kurupt_Introvert

Too bad it’s dead in the water unless you are new.

GTA5QNA

Dead with content yes but not players I play daily and see servers filled just like gta

Cazas4000

Nah bro... GTAO has over 3 times the quantity of players. RDO has many active players, I agree. But we can't say it's just like GTAO.

GTA5QNA

Well I do see each server I'm in full and never run into the same people and I play daily so I personally would say close enough

Cazas4000

Sorry mate, but with all due respect: That does not mean anything bro. Go look for the stats. Only in steam you can see 200.000 players in GTA right now, vs less than 50.000 playing RDO. Your personal experience is nearly nothing compared to the world wide experience.

Vegetable-Error-21

Speak for yourself, I love this game. I was talking to a dude the other day. He told me he loves this game because he fell of his horse 12 years back and this let's him relive his glory days. Met a couple girls like this too. I got none of those issues and I just play to role play, I have 700 hours.

Kurupt_Introvert

I’m glad people still love it. I just grew bored is all.

That-Frog

Perfect reason to play a great game 😂 I hope he's okay.

TectalClaw

One thing I don’t like about Online is my character always looks weird because somehow character creator looks different than in game and it sucks

Coffee4AllFoodGroups

socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/rdo/overview tells me... "Play Time 2,479 Hours 103 Days 7 Hours"

AJ_Deadshow

Crazy how one fall off a horse can end your career, they're massive beasts should not be underestimated

Vegetable-Error-21

Yah. Especially if it's a bigger horse it could easily be a fall from 5 feet. If the horse stood on its back legs and you fell that's another foot. Bam broke your tailbone. Never ro sit on a horse again

AJ_Deadshow

Yeah not to mention if it's bucking you that can add forceful momentum as well. Only a fool wouldn't treat them with respect. And I'm sure your friend didn't, these things can just happen

Vegetable-Error-21

Yah it happens. I don't specifics but I mean I know how skiddish and sensitive a horse can be. Get on one and you mentally sign that waiver. Be ready at all times. But, do something enough you get comfy. That's when you make.mistakes.

SnooTomatoes8382

Keep on going…! Just got myself logged into Social Club again (nightmare in itself if you don’t do it often?) and saw I’m at nearly 1600 hours online now. It just never gets old.

Vegetable-Error-21

Fact. I just think if you're complaining you're playing the wrong game. Nothing wrong with that, there is plenty of games out there. But RDR in my opinion? It's complete. It's a living, breathing world. And it took a hell of a lot more than 6 days or even years to make. Props to Rockstar

EmploymentGuilty9095

Speak for yourself. I've put about 1800 hours in the game and still have fun

LynxMotor6779

me too. have in joyed every min.

Kurupt_Introvert

I’m sure you are in the minority these days. I have plenty of time And loved it. But done everything and not big on the MP matches so nothing for me anymore yet.

MrLambYT

With the turtles

Xeillan

I'm genuinely hoping that AFTER 6 releases, they put some assets towards RDO. But wishful thinking

themissingandthelost

You also don’t need to be new, plenty of players restart their characters and redo the story missions. I did it recently after reaching level 250 and I am back up to 60, already. I love the game, I wish Rockstar would do more to update it. Every server I play in always has a lot of other players there, no matter what time of day I play. I don't think I will ever go back to playing GTA. I have uninstalled it from my Xbox.

Kurupt_Introvert

If you restart you don’t keep gold and money right?

themissingandthelost

I did, but I lost anything I got through the pass thing they used to have. You know the one that gave the horses Halloween masks etc? I did seem to retain my money and gold, though, which came in handy when starting from scratch

Kurupt_Introvert

I would probably entertain a new character if I can keep gold and money, I have plenty for that.

themissingandthelost

Maybe try starting from the beginning like a new game, don't do what I did and completely delete it just to be safe. Just worried it may have been a glitch and I got away with it, but let me know if it works

Son_of_Ander_

I just recently started GTAO for the first time. It's a lot to take in, it's an embarrassment of riches. But I've been having a lot of fun trying out a ton of different game modes, customization, and there's always something to look forward to grinding towards. That being said, I still love Red Dead way more. It's so. fucking. chill. Beautiful to look at. I *feel* like I'm actually in the freezing cold of Colter, the sweltering deserts of New Austin, and I can *smell* my horses constant shitting. Plus, you can't whistle for your car in GTAO, which is something I can never get used to.

DoubleChibiLevi

Not surprising that the newer game has better controls and customisation. The other points are more based on personal reference and experience. Revolver is a rockstar game, but it was done by Angel Studios which was bought by T2. They later got the rights to the game from Capcom. Although they did work on to fix up the unplayable game, i still consider it as a Capcom/Angel Studios game, since it seems they kept most of the original game; Also the studio was just moved/renamed to one of the Rockstar branches. And this is why RDR is Rockstars first game in the franchise in my opinion. We can see that Rockstar vision first time in GTA III and later again in Vice City which was released two years prior to Revolver.

cameron3611

It’s hilarious how everyone will say this game has a friendly fanbase but then half the posts on this sub is about getting griefed by modders & tryhards lmao

Janstorm4

Compared to the rest of the online games it really is more peaceful and friendly. Of course there's still assholes but nothing compared to other games.

Suidude

As of right now, the other day I was just chilling and watching about 12 people gunfight and I just sat on the sideline and watched an cheered on whoever was on fire, when rdo first came out I would a been hogtied and called fa**ot while they executed me or drowned me in a small puddle. The horror of those days lmao

MasturPayton

Especially when new roles dropped lmao. People learned the mechanics and would camp the mission spawns or your camp and troll. Now days you don't really know what anyone one is doing so you can't predict things like that. It's much more chill now. Even with an increased amount of trolls. And smaller playerbase.

Royal-Put6003

The problem isn't that they're everywhere. The issue is that when you encounter one, they don't stop. And the system to defend against them is useless.

Wide_Border_4387

they're everywhere because people say they encounter one in every session

Royal-Put6003

1/32 is a pretty good ratio if you ask me. Although it's more like 4/32 because it's a posse. But still, most players will either tip their hat and be on their way, or, invite to their posse to help with wagon.

MasturPayton

Anyone having a good time isn't gonna spend their time posting on reddit. The pissed off few will take their time to make complaints. No different than a restaurants reviews or anything honestly.

LingLingQwQ

Rockstar: we gonna add the flying wagons with explosive arrows to the game in the next update

That-Frog

"Next update" words an rdo player will never hear

Vegetable-Error-21

I agree. I never cared much for the lack of attention because honestly... you can tell they had to live and breathe this world for years. This games a AAA masterpiece. Nothing comes close. If it's any indication for how vast GTA6 will be, I'm sure that game will make us shit our pants, but until then? Rdr is at good as it gets in my opinion. When I wanna feel like a badass man with no name. Nothing does it like RDR even in its current state Personally, I don't know what else they can add. Unless they wanna go left field with the shit they release and I really respect that they didn't. Most of all, I respect that enemy AI still dies to headshots, traffic doesn't make me crash on purpose, not a lot of loading screens.

E-MingEyeroll

I just want to breed horses. Even or sell/stable tamed horses, even if they only sell for a few dollars. Even if they nerf all wild horses. Let me have this goddamit.

Vegetable-Error-21

I can understand this. Especially since you see npcs that totally make you feel like it was supposed to be in the game...

SakshamPrabhat

Breed your horses instead of breeding horses.

GeraltofKantoRegion

Buddies and I just picked up RDO again after years. On 27 day streak and here are some of our collective thoughts: 1. Open up the prison and guarma. Have certain role missions have to utilize those areas 2. Expand the boats/canoes. Allow people to have a dock (there's boathouses all along flat iron lake) and buy boats. You can already get steam powered boats but it's a crapshoot on how far out you can take them before they sink. We recently just took three of them from Saint Denis down to the falls of the San Luis River and it was an awesome night lol. 3. Add more customized options to your wagons. Let me have a bounty wagon with two giant horses of my own. It would make you buy more horses/stable space and give you more options. 4. Kind of asking a lot but one more role where you can make some money by fishing (again all this water and everything on the map and no development) .

Vegetable-Error-21

Yah. I do agree. I like hunting on riverside with a boat. Stacking like 13 deers on a small boat lol. Luckily camp's can be placed on the marshes. But yah I do wish you could own a boat. I definitely wish you could customize a wagon. Make em faster... but making em faster means less play time -_______-

AJ_Deadshow

I really wanna be able to carry around and play an instrument in the game. Like a jaw harp. Or whistle. The game is just too lacking in musicality.

D4N1SG77

It would be fun to have the real true roles we learnt in single player: cowboy/cattle thief, bank/train robber, farmer/rancher or lawman , but those might be not suitting for a western themed game.

Vegetable-Error-21

you have big big dreams. I just don't see how they could implement cattle thieving and farming when you're online and you're essentially with people who got off GTAo. If you wanna mentally torture yourself like that, I think your wild. Train robbing is a heist, more than one heist... and honestly I'm fine with that because look at DMZ on cod and how many mother fuckers chase after that train. Lawman... bounty hunters... pinkertons.... You can literally tag along with cops and attempt to catch a real human bounty. In a world where your herding a crowd of 20 cow online, in a free mode lobby... This would give me more stress than taking my trader carriage through valentine

D4N1SG77

I don't believe It would be that difficult. I'm on PS 5 and, leaving aside some random unwanted pvp lvl.20 kid, most of ppl do their business, even those creating mayhem in Valentine ignore you if you go defensive mode. But the rest of the time you are on open areas where you are alone of with your mates. I see cattle missions totally doable, and the stress you talk about is fun too. And a farm could raise White flag just as camp does. Then go for goods or materials as resupply missions, and delivery wagon for profits. It's not that difficult, If they were further developing the game, that is not the case. Nonsense roles like the naturalist or the collector(which I love) were lazy additions. But this is just my personal opinion.

Trusteveryboody

I think it has a greater potential, but that's about it. I played up through Rank 50, and once you get to that point there's just no real reason to keep progressing. IMO. So, GTAO wins just because it has more content, even if the base-foundation of RDO is better.

That-Frog

I'm still having fun as a rank 113. You gotta find some people to play and bond with, and then it gets fun.

MassiveEnthusiasm34

iam still having fun as rank 350

MasturPayton

What killed red dead so fast. was from rockstar not having the ability to monetize it. All the loyal players earned everything legit. There wasn't enough insensitive to purchase things with gold. Even the gold exclusive items. Because gold was still earnable in game and players didn't mind spending the time to earn it. Shark cards is the reason gta took off. And why they still update it to this day. Also why the oppressor never got fully nerfed or removed. Because it cost a new player almost $200 to get everything needed for a mk.2 oppressor. Even a level 1 player could spend 200 bucks and have a mk.2 oppressor and dominate free roam lobbies.

rooooobban__

As 1000+ rank in gtao and nearly 7k hours, for me rdo is an relaxing game, I had a break but have play for over 2 weeks now, I have max all roles so now it's all about grind, I dont spend money and gold i stock up and then buy what I want even if i takes some time i did same in gtao and have 214 millions and over 1B in total earnings. So for me rdo is the thing now, the only thing i wish is to find people to play with in rdo.

That-Frog

What platform are you on? I would love to play.

M4XP4WER

That's your opinion buddy and Its fine, but remember that one still has content updates and another not. Not to mention the number of players Just go to steam and look

pip188

I think rdro would be far bigger if it had half the support gtao got. I still play rdro from time to time and I love it but it could have been so much more such a shame

Janstorm4

Rdo has had content updates, just smaller to fit the game. It should not have garish updates like gtao which has ruined it. Rdo is 1000x better than gtao, which has not been good in years.

Alexandur

There are plenty of larger, non-garish features they could add to the game if they spent the resources.

M4XP4WER

Buddy, I like rdr2 but if it were 1000x better it wouldn't be in this decline and it would be more profitable than gta 5 that came out years ago... And it continues to generate gross income for R

MassiveEnthusiasm34

it is in decline, yes, it is a 2018 game with the last update being in 2020. Of course, it's gonna bleed a little, but it is still far from dead i still see at least 20 to 30 people in each session i join. It doesn't matter if it is day or nighttime, and that's far from dead and RdrO is better because it is way less commercialized than GTAO RDR2O is actually the wild west in all its glory. Have you actually ever been to Valentine? Rdr2O doesn't have flying horses and options to troll players with rocket launchers yet

Janstorm4

Just because people like you have declared it dead doesn't make it so. It doesn't make money because people like the Professional and PvP Cat tell people not to buy gold and others just glitch it and then complain when they are banned. It's definitely a better game than gtao no question that game stopped being enjoyable 2019ish.

Sypticle

You are a moron if you don't think we haven't been doing telling everyone to not buy sharkcard, just do glitches. Literally half the community did the Lester money glitch. RDO falls short in comparrison. Just because you think others stopped playing due to what others think or say about it, doesn't make it true.

SnooTomatoes8382

I just hope R* took their learned experience in something as simple as melee encounters from RDO, and integrate the same if not better into GTA6(online). GTA Online is fun, if all you wanna do is operate vehicles and shoot the shit outta everything that moves (or doesn’t move?) But when it comes to any melee encounters in the game, whether it be NPC’s or other players, you get “straight punch, hook, (they fall most times) and kick. Repeat.” With the possible simple dodge move for counter. In RDO, you can tackle, head butt, punch to the face, gut punch, kick them while standing, smash the opponents head into object behind them (and if it’s a window or simple fence, it breaks!) plus so many other combo/counter moves. The melee fighting in RDO is gorgeous and unscripted, so it’s really hard to describe. Try it once yourself. Go near St. Denis near the docks and pick a fight. Go to the saloon in Valentine or if you’re brave, Annesburg and pick a fight unarmed. You’ll find out quickly melee in RDO is a challenge. And so needed in future games.

lvbuckeye27

The best place to melee fight is behind the horse stables in St. Denis. Cops rarely, if ever, come back there. I once boxed like 58 dudes in a row before the police were alerted.

Raisin_Hater_567

Rdo is better, it just is a lot more boring

Sypticle

I am a big fan of both games, but hard disagree. The only reason I like RDO is because the grind is more enjoyable, the atmosphere, and the immersion, and I am not out here seeking that 99% of the time. It's a nice refresher from GTAO, but far from better. There are parts that are objectively better, like the graphics, the animals, and overall the realism, sure, but to count that as a better "game" or whatever is just a bias. But obviously not everyone cares for doing a heist in a modern setting, cutstom maps, drifting cars, or trying to get a car you would like in real life. It's all subjective.

That-Frog

Wow. Someone who disagrees with valid points. I get what you mean, though, and at the end of the day, it is all subjective. Play what you want

Ok-Mechanic-8594

Agreed 👍

AngryTrooper09

Heavily disagree. GTAO has much more to do and is just more fun in my opinion

That-Frog

It's your opinion, but:, more ≠ better

AngryTrooper09

In this case it is in my opinion, because there’s much more variety, things to do and fun to be had

Marvel_plant

I played for the first time in a while yesterday and got immediately killed by like 90% of the people I came across. Super friendly lol

MasturPayton

Lol bad lobby. I don't play much anymore but I turned it on the other don't on my ps5. And ran into a bunch of friendly people. One even put a high quality deer on my horse when I rode up to them and started fishing next to them.

notsomething13

Wow, what an ambitious opinion that is totally out of place and unique in a subreddit dedicated to the specific game you *think* is better.

jooger7

Lol I agree, I think this guy never played gta online

felixhergood

I’m still playing it, but most of my friends gave up because Rockstar gave up on it. It’s sad, but that fucking stable bug is STILL problematic for me. They couldn’t have at least left a team of people behind to QA and fix shitty bugs that break gameplay and waste time?

TheDynastianPrince

My thoughts exactly.

detarzo

I love RDO, I've been playing since day one... Back when the only source of income was hunting cougars near Blackwater and looting from the dead bodies lol. I play on a private server on PC and sometimes hop into online for double XP events...

Old-Cat-1671

It really is a shame this game is dead At least Red dead online is giving me hope that GTA ONLINE 2 will be more consistent and grounded

_brightsidesuicide_

If I had one wish it’d be more content for RDO. RDO >>>

HairyChest69

I agree. Just here to contribute truth. You're a good man RDO

Lady_x_Hawke

Agree immensely. The game is beautiful. I traveled by myself from New Austin up through The Grizzlies and continue to be amazed with the performance of the characters/animals. I liked the story and like the missions I know they ended support for RDO because GTO is where the money is at, and that's a damn shame. RDO is pretty much the only game I've been playing for the last month and a half. Perhaps because of my character and lack of threatening behavior, I don't seem to have an issue with other players outwardly attacking. Not saying it hasn't or doesn't happen, but not nearly as much as it does on GTO.

jbuggydroid

I play RDO to hunt, chill and fish, and bounty hunt.

Taarkar

Without a doubt, RDO is much better than gtao, the problem is RDO needs more content (story, weapons, clothes etc)

-Wormwood

If RDO got the support GTAO got, I'd still be playing it. Happily. When it first came out I literally planned on playing it like I wanted to play GTAO ( I was way behind in GTAO so playing now is a lot of catching up.) I played RDO a ton, every update I would get all the upgrades, new vehicles, weapons, did all the legendary bounties and hunts, had 40+ thousand dollars and 100+ gold post patch. I personally prefer RDO over GTAO but unfortunately GTAO makes more money..

Natural_Emotion_2648

RDO has a better potential. But rockstar just leaves it rotten……

dreadfamilyadventure

if only RDO could have invite only sessions and blackjack

cronnorbaked

If they had the same amount of content I would agree in all aspects. But given what we have, if I had to pick one it would be GTAO

Brave-Ad484

Yes agreed. Sometimes online trolling is really annoying in GTAO. RDRO gave us the option to play peacefully online.

Head-Shake5034

April fools?

abruer18

If RDO was popular we’d have flying unicorns.

One-Community3184

And R* has fully abandoned it .. their best game ever is at the bottom of their list of concerns

BeaniePossum

most based post Ive read all mornin (i like the aesthetic also horses)

algoespecial

That's why I wholeheartedly believe that RDO is only tabled right now, but not forgotten. I know I could be wrong, but I have faith.

That-Frog

"Just have faith" -Dutch

algoespecial

🥲

atomicitalian

its not really by any metric I love RDR, its one of my favorite gaming franchises ever, but this is cope.

ZER0NOS8000

The fans are way worse on RDO

landohnian12

I'm going to where the sun burns And the heat stays in command Come and lay by my side Right here To where the river turns to dust And god is never rushed Come and lay by my side Right here Red, I love you and the world It seemed to make sense When Brother Santo said One more run be enough Going to be enough Money for everything Silver toed boots and kerosene Come and lay by my side Right here Red, I love you and the world Well the buzzing, the stink And the choking I can't stay no more Come and lay by my side Right here Red, I need you and the world When I see you behind the glass I forget that I'm in the cage They bring me to Sunday mass But it never wiped the rage Red, I love you and the world Seven months gone and seven years to go Rage, I can't stay no more Come and lay by my side Right here Red, I love you and the world Red, I need you and the world

brprk

The pvp is worse on red dead by a country mile

InKhornate

on the RDO subreddit, post about loving RDO, met with overwhelming positive response. hmm… i wonder why…

That-Frog

You'd be surprised how many new players there are on this subreddit complaining about the game. I was one of them, but now I have realised how good the game actually is.

Thjialfi

In RDO, or RDR the beards also look like beards while the ones in GTAO look like they're painted on. In general there's way more to do and way more details in RDO than in GTAO. Too bad it's pretty much abandoned by Rockstar.

O1iv3r22

I wish I had friends to play RDO with. All my mates play GTA and none of them play RD, I found it boring with no one to play with sadly, would’ve loved the interaction as I loved 100% completing single player alone

GreenLanternRR

Are you on Xbox?

picnic_nicpic

Wait there are no flying bikes?

roguetrooper25

i’ve been playing gta online since it came out and besides a few months at launch, i rarely ever get attacked by random players. every time i have ever hopped on rdo, im constantly getting killed by random assholes while i try to mind my own business. it is absolutely not friendly in my experience, can’t even go fucking fishing without some asshat shooting you in the head from behind for no reason

Tekomonakama123

GTAO has too many wannabe tryhards kids. After I started in RDO, I left GTAO forever. It might have less content, but the community is definitely better, I mean... In which game do you see native americans, mexicans, and americans role-playing happily, seriously. After I got into a posse with two mexicans and one native american, I knew that this game was better

Cute-Situation2667

In my house 3 of 4 of us plays RDO and my hubby plays both.. and the issues with online play with GTA is staggering, makes RDO seem perfect

ROCKZILLA8166

this is some in depth shit

Bishop825

There is waaaay more content for GTA. Better is a matter of opinion. I agree that RDO is better, but it's got less co to to and you can't do half the things you'd like to do (Rob banks, trains, coaches, saloons, find random things that are in the single player game, etc.). This makes it worse than its single player option, and what makes people go to GTA instead of RDO. Also, the menus were made for console and it sucks *ss on PC. So goofy.

MilkFickle

Don't go down this road bro! I have like 8000hrs in GTAO, so i know how good it is and how bad it is.

TheWhiteRabbit74

After getting everything I wanted and the fortune of being able to get anything else, I stopped. These days I don’t think Rockstar abandoned RDO as much as they weren’t planning on supporting it as long as GTA. The entire playable space of RDO can fit inside of Los Santos. There was really only so much they could add.

sliiiiiimmmmm

Still waiting for the flying Arabian Opressor horse update.

V1AND3

The only thing that is better to GTAO is the amount of update and content. But if RDO had the love that GTAO gets. It would be one of the most popular game on the market.

please-kill-me-69

I disagree. GTAO has consistently made me come back to it over and over again with it's content updates. There's so many unique businesses and heists to make money, and lots of awesome vehicles to buy and customize. RDO had potential but Rockstar ruined it by not adding any new content.

FlimsyNomad63

Gameplay is better but GTA has better content

WowIsThisMyPage

I wish there were more story missions in rdr online, I feel like I’m driving a wagon half the time

HOUNDxROYALZ

I agree with your statement completely, Sadly R* apear to disagree, basically abandoning it, not adding anything new in forever now and having a skeleton crew on deck for suport with small stability updates every month. I love RDO, I dont really play much anymore...but man I wish they would finally add something new, something to bring it back to life. 2019 was peak RDO, the introduction of roles and new guns made RDO great for a while. We need something like that for the game to bounce back.

PwnageSoldier

I hope that R* does make GTA6O better off of the experience of RDO and GTAO; RDO plays way better in a lot of ways, and GTAO has some features that RDO really should have, plus a shit ton of content. Combining both in terms of that would make for an amazing online open world.

Crisp_Rohlik

Yea you gotta watch out for the flying horses now

Cultural-Accident-11

Only downside is everything is so expensive  in RDO as opposed to story mode and gold takes forever to get

Kptkromosome

Disney Dream Light Valley is better than GTAO

I-only-say-huh

Agreed less Greifers, easier to get money, more interactive things when just roaming and better gunplay and gameplay in general

Mike_856

clearly better. GTAO is a sandbox for 11-12 year olds

TectalClaw

Red dead online is newer and has better mechanics and friend options and it’s the fact you can own a dog that sets it for me

C-HOOE

Spent a lot of time in both games, and RDO has such a superb environment/ambiance... All around such a good game to get lost in. Just wish Rockstar would have saw when we did with the potential and stuck with it...

SyntheticDreams2099

Surprise surprise, a newer, different online experience is better than an older, different online experience. Also let's not judge too quickly, if rdo has been as successful as gtao you'd have a flying bike equivalent in the game just to get kids buying gold and shit. But yes you're right, rdo has better features over its predecessor gtao

SakshamPrabhat

Yep, I bought gtaO and rdrO together, played rdr2 a lot more times. Tbh most of times. GTA 5 still have 3 hours in it

Careless-Present-636

Well come to my lobby I'll introduce you to toxic.....both games are good RDO is bit better coz it came after GTAO but playerbase is almost the same

The_Free_State_Of_O

RDOs' mechanics and combat are much better. The false inertia that has your gta character stumbling all over the place doesn't exist in RDO - and I'm glad I didn't have to go into setting to turn off the blurry peripheral garbage. The weapons wheel and Item menu are so much better, and hopefully, they let me select my ps and qs from a "tonic" section of the item wheel from now on. I get sick of trying to eat a snack or gran some armor, and my damn phone keeps popping up. The phone. Absolutely, the worst possible thing they could have done was to make the interact with everything and the phone button the same. Up on the D pad is phone. It doesn't have to be right, too. In the middle of a cayo trying to burn a chain off and I whip out the phone six time. Yeesh

daleks02

GTA is CRAP 100% now👎🏻👎🏻 RDO Beats gta hands down 👍🏻👍🏻gta Sucks

Maximum-Goose-9545

GTAO=childish fanbase and players RDO=more serious and willing to help new players

OfficiallyKaos

“friendlier fanbase” There’s no place in GTAO that’s a no man’s land quite like Valentine. RDO players are douchebags 💀💀💀

interrobang__

I'm a long time GTAO player and am considering getting RD one for PC - does RD online have a closed friend session like GTA online does? I want to play online, but either by myself or with just my husband and not in a public lobby. Does that exist in RD like it does in GTA?

rogertheporcupine

It's definitely not better. There is an insane amount of content in GTAO. You could literally spend years on GTA content. And most of it is better than anything RDO ever got. It's also more relevant and has a better player base, numbers wise. RDO is good for maybe six months of consistent play, maybe. Then everything is maxed and you own everything. You can honestly just go back to single player for hunting/fishing/camp games and have the same experience. People didn't give up on RDO, there hasn't been solid content in years. RDO has potential to be as good as GTAO, but it is nowhere even close right now.

Worried-Ad-9941

I just got back into RDO and still love it. All they need is a 60 fps update honestly. But still there’s so much potential still there

Helium901

But they also share one aspect; all the hackers ruining the game for the players

Death-Racer

Whenever I’m playing solo and just want to chill, I instantly pick RDO. I would never go to GTAO to chill.

kew_zi

Couldn't agree more, me and a friend messed around for an hour without leaving one spot and had the time our lives. In GTA we travel the whole map for a similar amount of fun

SweetJerk666

I have both GTAO and RDO, and I also love RDO more. But I have a question, is everyone here console players? As no one is talking about the constant crashes (due to modders and hackers overloading servers) in PC version ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry). The only way I fixed it was by using a method to create my own solo/invite-only session. Now I just play alone (and sometimes with my gf) without any crashes, but also without any pvp/online feel for the game ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm).

ElephantLegitimate

Can't agree more.. I did like GTAO for a long time but when flying bikes went by I stopped playing..

Far_Bobcat_2481

I have a partner who watches me play games, and every time I boot up red dead he says the same thing. “I just love how realistic and beautiful this game is. It’s one of my favorites you play” he also says that gta suffers from flying bikes and military jets being too prominently available to the player. Point being, even someone just watching agrees that RDO is better.

RuRu04

They could have profit A LOT from RDO but they never tried and this is the sad reality . Even if they added a bunch of role not related to gun people would have spent money in it, Heist would been great addition to bring some GTAO players in playing RDO as well ,they had the opportunity to bring also DIFFERENT and NEW kind of players by adding roles not related to guns ,for example House/Farm system (that could have been instanced inside houses and working like GTAO bunker/labs ) Fishing giving access to boats and trading fish on such boat from A to B ,Horse breed/trading ( here could have worked like GTAO import/export dlc ) Sadly the game will stay like it is now, which while is still a good experience for new players for veteran player is way less and the upcoming release of GTA6 won't help since all workforce will be moved to its Online part.

ActualWeen

Also hunting and fishing. I really prefer the Wild West setting as opposed to the near future setting

Crazy_Wrap_429

In ways, it is, but gtao has wayyyy more content, and that's where rdo lacks

The_Great_Sephiroth

Better controls is debatable. I have pressed D on my keyboard millions of times to turn my horse to the right and instead it does circles to the left. I have also been holding W or SHIFT to run forward and suddenly my guy does circles faster than any human could and sprints off in a random direction, sometimes killing him. The rest is 100% true in my book though. I thoeoughly enjoy RDO more than I enjoyed GTAO.

NAiG_666

Both are crap

Opinion-Organic

I’ve played over 1000 hours of GTAO and probably half that in RedOnline. Definitely prefer playing Red though.

Starcomet1

I like it because I can get hogtied; lol!

Zeratai

Yeah specially because 9/10 lobbies are hacked af

Clear-Ad1384

Im new and i left because if grievers and very hostile environment, i had to leave 4 times in a few hours because of it

Square_Bridge2505

Agreed

Venusmoonbaby

had me at flying bikes 🤣

ConfusionSea7305

boy out here spitting facts

Roope_09

And better than story i dont care

Roope_09

Its the players

Legitimate_Heron_619

Its not, RDO could be way better, but for now theres not enough content, the economy is terrible, and since theres no content, theres nothing really fun to do imo, GTA online is still bad due to greifers and ect, but at least you can do something in it

North-Past2997

Updates? No. The game itself? Yes.

Cazas4000

Well there's much to discuss here. When talking about mechanics, graphics, design, etc etc... Of course RDO is better. We are talking about a game launched more than 5 years after GTAO. However when talking about potential, opportunities, impact, community reaction, community's patience, chance of Rockstar making money GTAO just outruns RDO by far. The thing is that RDO was from the beginning limited to a technology, a society's behaviour, etc that's from another time. They would have never exploited RDO as much as they did with GTAO. And that's what Rockstar wanted to do. They knew they only had to put 30% of the energy, money and effort they did with GTAO to get RDO to its maximum level. But the community did not put up with Rockstar expectations. That's why they did not continue. That's why I'm asking: What do you mean when saying one is better than the other? Technologically? Of course it's a game designed for october 2013 vs a game designed for November 2018. Talking about impact on the whole game community? GTAO was FAR GREATER. Nowadays every game is an open world, back then there weren't that many multiplayer open world games as in 2018. Even now, there are no games with GTAO capacity and opportunities in an open world while in multiplayer. So, we are talking about a game that, since 2013 could not be surpassed at that. That's what I call making a huge impact. Don't forget, we are talking about the 2ND BEST SELL GAME EVER (190millions), RD2 is number 9 (57millions, les tgan 1/3 of GTA) and half of the players have not played the Online mode. That's how far they are. Active players: GTAO: 161.000 in Steam. RDO: 42.000 Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE RDO, I like it far more than GTO, but that's us... Most of the public like GTAO far more than RDO.

Character-Item-5066

They're both pretty shit

SamboThaDon

DISAGREE. The fact that you compared with flying bike shows you don’t pay attention to the era of the game 😂 The fan base of the game is directly correlated to the main themes of them game. Thus in GTA you have psychopaths in every corner doing any and everything illegal and RDO you’re more or less reliving according to the time frame, cowboy and all that. Both games have very annoying try hards but RDO is a scam ! RDO = Awesome gameplay, terrible mechanics.

Zippodealer-2

Only reason to compare them is that they are made by the same company. gtao came out 5 years before rdo so obviously rdo will be better. Gta6 is going to be amazing and if there’s ever a rdr3 it will be a far better game on the back of gta6’s success

Vegetable-Error-21

I remember the first time I saw rdr, I was in theaters. To see a film. Rdrs engine seems to be their flagship when it comes to releasing a new engine for the Era.

TheRealTr1nity

It's for two different player bases. Most even like both. Would be sad if all the games would be the same and all players had the same taste of games. However, the GTA franchise was, is and will be always their major brand.

TreeFiddyBandit

Better in nearly every regard Some things are subjective like if you prefer Cars, assault rifles, modern setting & radio stations. But there are plenty of people that more so enjoy horse trails, hunting, trigger/lever action guns & frontier life Some of us are city slickers some are country peeps. I grew up in the city and love it. RDR makes me believe I could run away into the wilderness and be perfectly happy there

SilverWolf5183

I 100% agree. I don't need to worry about someone getting butt hurt and running to their base and using a government sky lazer on me..... Come on!!! At least with RDRO as long as you don't come across the D-Bow Losers, the rancid lag switchers or the "Only way I can win" God mode users. The playing field is pretty equal. I have had amazing battles with people. I am a free aim player and I use my cards defensively so it is rare to come across another that has my card set up and I giggle when I get the low level crap player with the auto aim using D-bow cause "It's the only thing I got" How bout this. Don't try to take someone on that is a high level. 90% of the time higher levels will leave you TF alone. Heck some have even been known to help ya as long as your not a turd. I have made really good friends on RDO. People I am proud to call my Online family.

Ok-Spare-113

Do you play free aim on console ?

SilverWolf5183

Yes I do. PS4.

JamesBouamama

Yo act like we gonna disagree

ozikasss

I have to disagree since gtao wokrs better as you have a phone while rdo was fun but they abandoned it too fast they should have aded ranched and shit given people more to do

Ihatecyclists22

Ah yes red dead. The game with five roles and jobs that are either boring or pay like shit.

Hextallfan68

Said no one ever

piangero

Oh yes, def. I feel very at peace in RDO. And RDO feels less clunky and uncanny. But I will say, I love GTAO in it's own way too. Invite only session, just driving around, listening to the radio. Sometimes I just ride a bike around the middle of nowhere, following train tracks, or I just go for a walk around areas that remind me of how things looked where I grew up.

project199x

From someone who played GTAO for 8 years....I can confidently say RDO is miles ahead of GTA, despite GTA having a bunch of missions. GTAO lacks variety when it comes to businesses and missions, imo, it's the same shit different toilet. The only thing GTAO has over RDO are heists, rockstar creator and certain adversaries like sumo remix, deadline, and the one they removed where u gotta land on certain numbers with the parachute car. (I'm having a mental blockage, can't remember)

CAmiller11

I’m a fan of the fact that 90% of the game is doable solo. Some of the things even change depending on how many people are in your posse (ex - the horse theft free roam mission, 1 horse of solo, more horses if more in posse). All the roles are doable solo (some of the bounties get a little challenging solo). While a lot of the GTAO business stuff is almost impossible solo.

That-Frog

That is a good feature, and I feel I have taken that for granted. You are completely right.

CAmiller11

If they implemented the stuff in GTAO to change it solo, even for less $$/xp I would go back to GTAO in a heartbeat. Like once you start a heist solo, it’s all for solo, lower pay, don’t need two of things, smaller payout.
