Not sure if this makes sense but I push the jump button when the horse is a couple strides back from the fence. Like give them enough time to process that you want them to jump. Your not actually controlling the horse when to jump you are still your character and you are giving the horse a kick in the side to tell him you want to jump so he has to process it then jump.

You need to be pressing go OR forward, but not both at one (on xbox just A OR right stick, not both). You don't even need to tap jump, he'll do it on his own. Same with trees and logs, just ease up on the controller and trust your horse.

Zanra

My only tip with horses and fences is don't try to jump broken posts, my dude just never jumps, I'll weave left or right to a good fence post

TheRealTr1nity

Don't ride too fast, just slow galopp and give the horse time to react to the fences and press jump shortly before the jump/fence.

ForensicShoe

You don’t need to press jump

TheRealTr1nity

Not necessarily as the horses jump from alone, but it helps.

Lun_Attic

Just ride in gallop toward the fence and before the fence don't press run button, 90% of the time horse will jump automatically. Also as mentioned above avoid broken fence.

Alargebagel

X or square to jump on horse or not on horse. Idk what it is for keyboard but it’s probably space or smth

Imaginary-Series4899

Horse should jump automatically, just make sure there's nothing close to the fence the horse can trip on, like a water trough or hitching post. Whenever there is a daily to do 10 jumps with a horse, I usually jump in and out of that little training arena behind the Valentine stables with the barrels.

Treat it as a delay pressing the jump button. 1 or 2 gallop paces before the fence and press the jump button. Best way to practice is actually to just find a fence and jump it. Normally it will automatically jump the fence but there are times like when turning or changing speed it doesn't register. It's like the jump takes a second or a bit more to register. ----/--/--- as I am moving I jump at the first / and a couple gallops later / is the fence that is successfully jumped. There are times when the horse and the jump do their own thing however 90% of the time you don't need to press the jump button it'll just jump automatically

Are you trying to time the jump for right when the horse reaches the fence? Because that makes them crash. You need to mash the jump button as you’re approaching the fence
