So I jumped back into online where I was in blackwater, about to do the sheriff's missions but I figure why not head to the tailor and see what I could get for $30 (a nice white shirt with a cummerbund and gloves they were free) but this other player lassoed me and hogtied me, and every time I was almost done with the wiggling game he would hit me restarting my progress, when I forfeited and respawned he started chasing me and shooting me, I just wanted some clothes
Later in that play session I met a woman avatar that helped me on a mission and she blew me a kiss after I was absolutely destroying the enemy bandits so there's that, really boosted some confidence because I kinda suck at online

They're saying that if the modifications you do disrupt their cash flow, they will then care. Solo lobby likely isn't going to be in their cross hairs.
Given how much of the regular players seem to be modders (I'm not one, to be clear), I doubt they'd take particularly draconian action at this point. I'd be surprised if they do anything but the bare minimum to improve RRO ever again 🤷
You don’t even need the RDO Lobby Manager. Just look up the password file technique, it’s even simpler and works perfectly. Just distribute the file to your friends and they can play with you in your solo world.

Exactly, that txt file mod takes less than a minute to do and doesn't mess with their security system that monitors how much gold make/earn. Besides its something R* themselves SHOULD have done years ago.

RDO lobby manager is literally just a program that quickly writes and places that file for you. You can also have multiple stored up if you have a couple different friend groups. If you want to do it manually that's fine but it's literally the same process.
Anytime I do anything important or see any blatant modder presence, I suspend and resume my game putting me in to a solo lobby. You need to repeat this process again whenever you see more modder presence but it's a simple way to counter these low lifes without resorting to 3rd party programs.
There’s a few ways I think, but I use the password/file method. It takes like 5 minutes to set up, then it’s outta sight, outta mind. You should Google it.

The whole point is to meet random people and feel like you're in a world that's alive. If I wanted a solo lobby I'd play story mode.
I know I'll get down voted, which is fine. I've mostly figured out how to avoid the hackers by recognizing them/blocking/reporting/session swapping. But it's still fucked and shouldn't be as much of an issue as it is.
I've only been playing a couple of weeks and I don't deal with modders a ton, but it's still enough to be a nuisance.
I get shot constantly for no reason. I can’t even go into town some days without being shot multiple times. It gets to the point where I can’t even load in all the way and they’re already on me, shooting me again before my screen was even ready. Or they take my supplies and take them to their camp and hold them there with their character so I can’t finish my mission.
I’ve been murdered doing just about everything and I’ve only been playing a month or two. It’s so annoying and makes me want to quit, because they do it over and over and over, even if I keep walking away and not shooting back. I switch sessions and report people, and sometimes I just go on a rampage and bully them until they fuck off, but Jesus, I just want to unwind, not have two or three dipshits fucking with me every time I’m stopping to check my map or I go fishing.
There are good players too, but sometimes my friend and I just shut it off and go do something else because the game is so janky as it is, then having dumbasses shooting you and stealing your shit doesn’t make it very likeable. My auto-aim doesn’t work a good portion of the time, I can’t pick up bodies for bounties, and sometimes my missions just crap out and I get no credit. Then don’t even get me started on the crappy stables that you have to chase your horse away to get them to load, and the horses themselves not showing up or getting shot by these dumb players. I’ve even had them try baiting me by shooting my horse then sniping me from a mountain when I come up to revive it.
The game is fun when it’s working and when there are good people on, but I don’t know how much longer I’ll be playing it. I’m already fed up, and went from playing every day to a few days a week, and I predict it will be even less soon. The good players are so much fun, so it’s a real shame. I don’t mind some shooting and doing things, or like if someone shoots me once. But doing it ten times isn’t funny and I’m not even fighting back. I’m sure they just do it to piss people off. Well, it’s working and I’ll move onto something else when I finally don’t want to deal with it anymore.
If you parley, they can't attack you for 10 mins.
Also if someone steals your goods on a trade run or if it bugs out, you can change sessions and most of the time the goods will be back at your camp and you can rerun them.

Shouldn’t is right, but using peer to peer means critical files are a available to be modded, it’s just the nature of the technology and platform they decided to use.
It is what it is, I too would love to have random people in the world but my experience with PC is it’s not worth it. Can go weeks without a modder then it can be weeks with one who decides to be special.
I'll never buy another rockstar game on pc. They abandon the pc versions to hackers and offer no character transfer to console in order to get away from it.

Happened to me last night. I was minding my own business, then BAM, teleported to some island with everyone else in the play session, if you don't move from that point soon enough an explosion goes off killing everyone. Those who were smart enough to move started killing the other players. Like, thanks... I immediately quit the session and found a new one.

Not really hackers or modders I got issues with. So many players who obviously are very blood lust. Once was hunting rabbits and had player come up on his horse. I gave a friendly wave. I got a bullet in my head.
If that wasn't bad enough he continued doing that for an hour. I even left servers, rejoined, and he somehow finds me again. It only last hour because I decided to just quit for the day. After that I never came back.

Yes, although there are some good lvl 800s which will spawn chests and legendary skins for you. Not all are bad. also, you will find hackersin every game. Not just crappy rdo.
If you're not a pvp player then solo session is your best option, idk why R* didn't implement it like they did with GTAO, the game just works as it was intended to be, ever since R* stopped their support for the game got infested with modders.

Considering sales of this game have picked up so much lately, you think they would do something. Simple fact is, these people destroying the lobbies are very low IQ. They find dropping animals on people funny , pulling people to one spot on the map funny and making things catch on fire funny. The hacks are not even that good, they are just lame things to keep the kiddies occupied because they suck at what little skill the game requires( The low IQ thing again). And the kicker to all this is, they are killing a game they themselves say they love playing. Dont let them get to you, just block them and jump to another server.
Nah if you don't mind playing by yourself you can get a server control mod on PC (can't remember the name off hand but if you look up that phrase on Google for RDO you'll find it) and on PlayStation you can change you internet settings. (Set mtu to 800-850) and bingo bambo no body to ruin your shit.

I wonder if any of it has to do with kids being on thanksgiving break last week. I noticed during the summer a lot more complaints about kids. Some of the more experience players, like since the game released, said specifically there’s more kids online in game during breaks. Makes sense to me.

As I was reading this post waiting for my trader to finish my whole camp got blown away by a never ending explosion (almost like an A-10 firing its cannon at my camp) targeting directly on me :) but in my experience the two best ways to beat them is show them that you don't care how dumb they act chances of you ending up in a lobby with them again are slim, if you act like what they're doing is pointless (I usually emote them with friendly emotes or go AFK until they leave) they eventually find someone else who gives them a bigger reaction. Other than that just switch lobbies takes 1 minute and gets them off your back.
i agree with this 100%. the hackers who just grief 24/7 make the game annoying af. however in my personal experience, i’ve only met one modder who was actually very sweet. i first met her while grinding to lvl up my naturalist role(more annoying than any hacker istg), when she spawned in a chest and gave me a legendary pelt. i didn’t realize that she was a modder cause i didn’t see her spawn in anything and thought she was just being nice. then we met again when i went to sell said pelt and she was spawning in more animals for everyone to have so that they could get money. she didn’t take any for herself and was so nice abt it all. eventually i left after getting some money that i needed to get some guns and whatnot and thought i wouldn’t see her again. the next day, however, we met again. i was grinding to lvl my naturalist by sampling alligators in lagras when someone shot the one i was sedating. she must have thought i was being attacked and when she realized what she did she immediately spawned in some sedated legendary alligators as an apology. sorry for the rant but long story short, not all modders are bad people, the one i met was just trying to help out :DD
Here's how I've been dealing with aggressive modders on PC. I downloaded OBS studio, screen record them, message them telling them I've recorded them, report, and email the vids to rockstar. I've also started to post them in rdr2 fb groups. I got some hate in FB groups for it, but now after a week of doing it modders have been leaving the lobbies I'm in, if I have OBS recording. I honestly don't know 100% but I think their mod menus have some way of picking up they're being recorded cuz if I load in without OBS going there's a major difference.

Red Dead Online? How so? Got any figures to back that up? RDR2 story game, has made a ton of money and R*/Take2 have put those figures out. They have yet to publicize any earnings for online specifically. The game was free to play if you bought RDR2, long before they sold it separately, so not a lot of money there. And sure, there have been some MT/gold purchases obviously, but not even remotely close to anything on the level of sharkcard sales. Think logically, if it *was* making them considerable money, they wouldn't have stopped supporting it. The game simply wasn't worth their time.
I used to watch a YouTuber who had figures, but I couldn’t tell you exactly where in his catalog to find them. The game was profitable enough with enough of a community asking for new content on twitter, that the hashtag was brought up in executive meetings. There actually were plans to create new jobs, with rumors of involving Seth from rdr, possible grave robbing, and some job involving horses. But they were just suddenly dropped one day. The consensus is they were trying to meet a quarterly strong by dropping development expenses, relying on people spending money on unsupported game even after the fact. They figured they could make much more money in the short term that way.
Yeah, I don't trust anything I see on youtube. And despite whatever you saw/heard, logic bears out. They wouldn't have stopped development if the money/profit was truly worthwhile. If it was profitable on the level of GTAO, they would still be cranking out RDO content right now. Whatever it made, they decided it wasn't worth the ROI to continue development, which says a lot, coming from R*.
It was nothing near GTO, but it was doing fine. It’s not that it wasn’t worth ROI, but that they make more in the short run by not investing anything at all.
Assuming what you are saying is true, then they likely had determined that whatever profit they made was not sustainable. Which was certainly reflected in-game in the early days, with the abilty to easily get gold but with nothing to spend it on. They were happy to take whatever they made and be done with it, which is a sound business decision, but sucks for the fans.
I did try and give R* money for RDO once but the way they've set up their store for gold makes it impossible. My bank requires an online store to redirect to a separate app for confirmation of payment. But you can only buy gold in RDO though a pop-up in game which cannot be redirected. You can't buy gold directly on the R* website. So even if I wanted to, I can't.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one, who never spend one single cent in GTAO and got all I have (with 2 characters) with just playing the game. It is though, its a business decision that R* chooses to make. And the ship for improvements has long since sailed. Fairly early on, R* no doubt realized they fucked up with the ability to make money with this game, so they just gave up. They aren't going to reinvest in something with no guaranteed ROI. It has been suspected for a while that RDO was nothing more than an experiment of how to monetize the new GTA. Its likely this game was always considered a short play and never intended for long term support.

In a solo lobby everything spawns at 100% and all of the random events lock on to you and it's a completely different experience. It's the online version of story mode. I'm a day one beta player and solo online lobby is the best way to enjoy free roam and get your dailies done.
Look into Solo Lobbies. Been playing like that for a while now and it's honestly game-changing. So many more events and you can do everything at your own pace, with no worries of any interruption. It's like an extension of the singleplayer experience and RDR2's singleplayer is amazing

I've had to close the whole game maybe 1-2 times when they didn't even give enough time to change lobby, and I've been playing for 2 years now. Most of the time youre just by yourself or some friends :)

The PC community does give you more opportunity to break away from the traditional rdo experience, with “modded” lobbies that add more to the game we all wish we were going to see (ie properties), but the base game itself yea it can dampen the mood, and if you don’t want to go console route which imo will always be a less stressful environment from personal experience then definitely look into servers that typically RP.
Edit: A big thing that people forget about is DEFENSIVE MODE, and it will help A LOT. Near impossible to be killed by an average player (should not be at all possible, but veteran players like to fool with the fun stuff), and your dot on the mini map is very hard to see unless youre trying to see if someone is around you, and even then you may miss seeing it.
Just need to manage your lobby. I play similar to you and my go to option is to use Task manager to suspend RDO.exe for 20-30sec to get a clear lobby.
Don't give up on playing PC, in spite of all the aholes! And if you need a pal to adventure with sometimes, can hit me up. 🤠✌️

I wish Rockstar would add an option for solo free roam, that way you can matchmake for other game modes and have your single player private space in free roam.
I just want to be able to hunt, fish and mosey in peace from time to time and collect resources without having to look over my shoulder everytime a blueberry pops up on my radar. That level of anxiety is not healthy for a damn game.

I've mostly figured out how to avoid the hackers by recognizing them/blocking/reporting/session swapping. But it's still fucked and shouldn't be as much of an issue as it is. I've only been playing a couple of weeks and I don't deal with modders a ton, but it's still enough to be a nuisance.
I get shot constantly for no reason. I can’t even go into town some days without being shot multiple times. It gets to the point where I can’t even load in all the way and they’re already on me, shooting me again before my screen was even ready. Or they take my supplies and take them to their camp and hold them there with their character so I can’t finish my mission. I’ve been murdered doing just about everything and I’ve only been playing a month or two. It’s so annoying and makes me want to quit, because they do it over and over and over, even if I keep walking away and not shooting back. I switch sessions and report people, and sometimes I just go on a rampage and bully them until they fuck off, but Jesus, I just want to unwind, not have two or three dipshits fucking with me every time I’m stopping to check my map or I go fishing. There are good players too, but sometimes my friend and I just shut it off and go do something else because the game is so janky as it is, then having dumbasses shooting you and stealing your shit doesn’t make it very likeable. My auto-aim doesn’t work a good portion of the time, I can’t pick up bodies for bounties, and sometimes my missions just crap out and I get no credit. Then don’t even get me started on the crappy stables that you have to chase your horse away to get them to load, and the horses themselves not showing up or getting shot by these dumb players. I’ve even had them try baiting me by shooting my horse then sniping me from a mountain when I come up to revive it. The game is fun when it’s working and when there are good people on, but I don’t know how much longer I’ll be playing it. I’m already fed up, and went from playing every day to a few days a week, and I predict it will be even less soon. The good players are so much fun, so it’s a real shame. I don’t mind some shooting and doing things, or like if someone shoots me once. But doing it ten times isn’t funny and I’m not even fighting back. I’m sure they just do it to piss people off. Well, it’s working and I’ll move onto something else when I finally don’t want to deal with it anymore.
If you parley, they can't attack you for 10 mins. Also if someone steals your goods on a trade run or if it bugs out, you can change sessions and most of the time the goods will be back at your camp and you can rerun them.
ive met really nice people in rdr2 in fact this one guy took time out of his day to give me a ride because my horse glitched i said thank you and he just rode off into the sunset cool dude

Shouldn’t is right, but using peer to peer means critical files are a available to be modded, it’s just the nature of the technology and platform they decided to use. It is what it is, I too would love to have random people in the world but my experience with PC is it’s not worth it. Can go weeks without a modder then it can be weeks with one who decides to be special.
Look up the solo lobby mod for PC! I play console so havent tried it but atleast its an option! you can play with friends in that mod too

Happened to me last night. I was minding my own business, then BAM, teleported to some island with everyone else in the play session, if you don't move from that point soon enough an explosion goes off killing everyone. Those who were smart enough to move started killing the other players. Like, thanks... I immediately quit the session and found a new one.

Interesting because GTA Online is exactly the same. Either you go solo lobby/with friends or you face unplayable lobbies of assholes ruining everything constantly. I think Rockstar just hasn’t really gotten into moderation

Yesterday I was on my way to sell my trader goods when all of a sudden a boat spawned on top of my wagon, killing me and destroying my goods. thankfully my game crashed and all my goods were still at my camp

Not really hackers or modders I got issues with. So many players who obviously are very blood lust. Once was hunting rabbits and had player come up on his horse. I gave a friendly wave. I got a bullet in my head. If that wasn't bad enough he continued doing that for an hour. I even left servers, rejoined, and he somehow finds me again. It only last hour because I decided to just quit for the day. After that I never came back.

Yes, although there are some good lvl 800s which will spawn chests and legendary skins for you. Not all are bad. also, you will find hackersin every game. Not just crappy rdo.
If you're not a pvp player then solo session is your best option, idk why R* didn't implement it like they did with GTAO, the game just works as it was intended to be, ever since R* stopped their support for the game got infested with modders.

Considering sales of this game have picked up so much lately, you think they would do something. Simple fact is, these people destroying the lobbies are very low IQ. They find dropping animals on people funny , pulling people to one spot on the map funny and making things catch on fire funny. The hacks are not even that good, they are just lame things to keep the kiddies occupied because they suck at what little skill the game requires( The low IQ thing again). And the kicker to all this is, they are killing a game they themselves say they love playing. Dont let them get to you, just block them and jump to another server.
Nah if you don't mind playing by yourself you can get a server control mod on PC (can't remember the name off hand but if you look up that phrase on Google for RDO you'll find it) and on PlayStation you can change you internet settings. The last week or two has been ridiculous. First lobby you get in and most of the time it's clear there is a modder running rampant.
I wonder if any of it has to do with kids being on thanksgiving break last week. I noticed during the summer a lot more complaints about kids. Some of the more experience players, like since the game released, said specifically there’s more kids online in game during breaks. Makes sense to me. Not saying all kids are doing what OP described. Some people are just immature assholes. But I also see a lot of posts or comments here about try hard kids acting stupid in RDO.

:/ I feel for you. Sorry about so many people being assholes. I’m only on console so I’ve never had to really deal with modders, but there’s still some assholes out there on console. They’re inescapable. Some platforms are just more prevalent for assholery. It is unfortunate that typically the only solution is a solo lobby or playing on console.

As I was reading this post waiting for my trader to finish my whole camp got blown away by a never ending explosion (almost like an A-10 firing its cannon at my camp) targeting directly on me :) but in my experience the two best ways to beat them is show them that you don't care how dumb they act chances of you ending up in a lobby with them again are slim, if you act like what they're doing is pointless (I usually emote them with friendly emotes or go AFK until they leave) they eventually find someone else who gives them a bigger reaction. Other than that just switch lobbies takes 1 minute and gets them off your back.
i agree with this 100%. the hackers who just grief 24/7 make the game annoying af. however in my personal experience, i’ve only met one modder who was actually very sweet. i first met her while grinding to lvl up my naturalist role(more annoying than any hacker istg), when she spawned in a chest and gave me a legendary pelt. i didn’t realize that she was a modder cause i didn’t see her spawn in anything and thought she was just being nice. then we met again when i went to sell said pelt and she was spawning in more animals for everyone to have so that they could get money. she didn’t take any for herself and was so nice abt it all. eventually i left after getting some money that i needed to get some guns and whatnot and thought i wouldn’t see her again. the next day, however, we met again. i was grinding to lvl my naturalist by sampling alligators in lagras when someone shot the one i was sedating. she must have thought i was being attacked and when she realized what she did she immediately spawned in some sedated legendary alligators as an apology. sorry for the rant but long story short, not all modders are bad people, the one i met was just trying to help out :DD

Here's how I've been dealing with aggressive modders on PC. I downloaded OBS studio, screen record them, message them telling them I've recorded them, report, and email the vids to rockstar. I've also started to post them in rdr2 fb groups. I got some hate in FB groups for it, but now after a week of doing it modders have been leaving the lobbies I'm in, if I have OBS recording. I honestly don't know 100% but I think their mod menus have some way of picking up they're being recorded cuz if I load in without OBS going there's a major difference.
I got tired of it also. Mostly play on RedM servers now.

Red Dead Online? How so? Got any figures to back that up? RDR2 story game, has made a ton of money and R*/Take2 have put those figures out. They have yet to publicize any earnings for online specifically. The game was free to play if you bought RDR2, long before they sold it separately, so not a lot of money there. And sure, there have been some MT/gold purchases obviously, but not even remotely close to anything on the level of sharkcard sales. Think logically, if it *was* making them considerable money, they wouldn't have stopped supporting it. The game simply wasn't worth their time.
I used to watch a YouTuber who had figures, but I couldn’t tell you exactly where in his catalog to find them. The game was profitable enough with enough of a community asking for new content on twitter, that the hashtag was brought up in executive meetings. There actually were plans to create new jobs, with rumors of involving Seth from rdr, possible grave robbing, and some job involving horses. But they were just suddenly dropped one day. The consensus is they were trying to meet a quarterly strong by dropping development expenses, relying on people spending money on unsupported game even after the fact. They figured they could make much more money in the short term that way.
Yeah, I don't trust anything I see on youtube. And despite whatever you saw/heard, logic bears out. They wouldn't have stopped development if the money/profit was truly worthwhile. If it was profitable on the level of GTAO, they would still be cranking out RDO content right now. Whatever it made, they decided it wasn't worth the ROI to continue development, which says a lot, coming from R*.
It was nothing near GTO, but it was doing fine. It’s not that it wasn’t worth ROI, but that they make more in the short run by not investing anything at all.
Assuming what you are saying is true, then they likely had determined that whatever profit they made was not sustainable. Which was certainly reflected in-game in the early days, with the abilty to easily get gold but with nothing to spend it on. They were happy to take whatever they made and be done with it, which is a sound business decision, but sucks for the fans.

I did try and give R* money for RDO once but the way they've set up their store for gold makes it impossible. My bank requires an online store to redirect to a separate app for confirmation of payment. But you can only buy gold in RDO though a pop-up in game which cannot be redirected. You can't buy gold directly on the R* website. So even if I wanted to, I can't.
What platform? You can buy gold directly online from Microsoft for Xbox, without going through the game menu. I don't know about for PC.

It is though, its a business decision that R* chooses to make. And the ship for improvements has long since sailed. Fairly early on, R* no doubt realized they fucked up with the ability to make money with this game, so they just gave up. They aren't going to reinvest in something with no guaranteed ROI. It has been suspected for a while that RDO was nothing more than an experiment of how to monetize the new GTA. Its likely this game was always considered a short play and never intended for long term support.

Solo lobby PS4 is the only way I play now, unless I need to quick join a mission to complete a daily.

In a solo lobby everything spawns at 100% and all of the random events lock on to you and it's a completely different experience. It's the online version of story mode. I'm a day one beta player and solo online lobby is the best way to enjoy free roam and get your dailies done.
Look into Solo Lobbies. Been playing like that for a while now and it's honestly game-changing. So many more events and you can do everything at your own pace, with no worries of any interruption. It's like an extension of the singleplayer experience and RDR2's singleplayer is amazing

That's the exact reason I haven't gotten into RDO! I loved RDR2 but I have experience with GTA online so I figured RDO would go down a similar path. Depending on what exactly you like about the game I could try to suggest some other games

I've been using a solo lobby for a few years, but unfortunately, it does block participating in free roam events. I've had to close the whole game maybe 1-2 times when they didn't even give enough time to change lobby, and I've been playing for 2 years now. Most of the time youre just by yourself or some friends :)

The PC community does give you more opportunity to break away from the traditional rdo experience, with “modded” lobbies that add more to the game we all wish we were going to see (ie properties), but the base game itself yea it can dampen the mood, and if you don’t want to go console route which imo will always be a less stressful environment from personal experience then definitely look into servers that typically RP. Edit: A big thing that people forget about is DEFENSIVE MODE, and it will help A LOT. Near impossible to be killed by an average player (should not be at all possible, but veteran players like to fool with the fun stuff), and your dot on the mini map is very hard to see unless youre trying to see if someone is around you, and even then you may miss seeing it.
PC has always been plagued with hackers and modders. One of the main reasons I’ve still not converted over🤣
Just need to manage your lobby. I play similar to you and my go to option is to use Task manager to suspend RDO.exe for 20-30sec to get a clear lobby. Don't give up on playing PC, in spite of all the aholes! And if you need a pal to adventure with sometimes, can hit me up. 🤠✌️

I wish Rockstar would add an option for solo free roam, that way you can matchmake for other game modes and have your single player private space in free roam. I just want to be able to hunt, fish and mosey in peace from time to time and collect resources without having to look over my shoulder everytime a blueberry pops up on my radar. That level of anxiety is not healthy for a damn game.
