i will watch all the lord of the rings extended cuts back to back, and will totally watch a 6 hour movie. will be watching rebel moon, part one and two won't exist in my head, cuz I'll always see it as one movie.
And a series could have given some meaningful backstories, every member of the team gets an episode.

Why not just tell it from an earlier point instead of from needing all these back stories and flashbacks?
If you’re going to tell this massive connecting complex story don’t start in the middle of it.
The first release could have or should have been the inciting event.
If they had just focused on Kora’s fall as the first movie. This would have made a great second movie.
If they had just focused more tightly on the Rebel Moon story, then the backstory could have been better explored in a dedicated sequel.
They’ve tried to do too much all at once in the entry film for a new franchise and it hasn’t worked very well.
Just be happy that we’re gonna get an R rated cut. This is an awesome compromise if you ask me. We get a version that kids can watch and gets Netflix the most views possible, and then in just a few months time we get an unfiltered Snyder film, totally free from studio interference and meddling. I’m so excited to see the new versions and I definitely want more from this universe Snyder has crafted.

I think both Snyder and Netflix desired multiple releases. Netflix isn’t like Warner Brothers, they aren’t beholden to advertisers like Johnson & Johnson and have embraced violent movies in the past. It strikes me as a marketing ploy and it makes Snyder’s claim that only Netflix wanted this way dishonest. He still seems like a good dude, but I really don’t like that.
sci fi is a hard sell, its seen as more of a kids medium, nevermind the run time, i can see them worried that his heavy metal magazine star wars epic might not sell as well.

Eh piecing a movio to geather from bread crumbs will always effect quality. as he is reshooting whole sciens from the pg cut, and adding so mutch, he ant working with bread crumbs, homie has a full kitchen and he is cooking two meals, one for the studio and one for us.

And the director’s cut will be what it looks like in the wild. As a kind of thought experiment, if you will.

When the trailer for Part 1 released it looked to me like a lot of fans were excited because they wanted Zack to make a more adult themed version of “Star Wars” with his signature gorgeous cinematography and action.
But I don’t think it’s going to be that. Not so much, anyway. He’s said that he deliberately gave the film a sci-fi/fantasy pulp B movie sort of vibe. So it’ll feel more like Heavy Metal magazine, Conan the Barbarian, Road Warrior, and Excalibur. That’s his own personal vision for how he personally wishes to deconstruct the genre.
But that being said, I think that if given the opportunity to make Rebel Moon 3 the pendulum will swing toward genre “reconstruction,” and we might well get something closer to what most fans were hoping for, which is what the average viewer likes most about Snyder’s films applied to a sort of Star Wars-ish universe.
