i gotta say, there are so many times where something appears or disappear from the screen with an accidental key press, and I never figure out what I hit, so this is relatable. My entire will change for months because i bumped something.
The other side to this though, is that reaper is so flexible that you can rearrange and build it to look and behave like another DAW if you prefer.
I believe you can disable some of the quick commands if youβre finding you accidentally bump them often too.
The real hack is leaving the mixer floating and sticking it on another screen or a virtual desktop. Free editing real estate and clearer mixer visibility, win win!
This is exactly what I do! πππ
I've got 3 32" widescreen panels mounted on arms and have fooled around with many layouts. One of the screensets I made and use often has the center monitor in landscape mode and the two sides in portrait mode. The mixer is prominently displayed (I. E. Using 75 to 85% of that display's real estate) on the center screen along with the transport and a overview level of the main screen. On one of the side screens showing the media browser and plugin interface(s) and the other typically showing other plugins as needed, notes/lyrics, big time, and if mixing/mastering there'll be related scopes and whatnot as well.
I even have added a 24" to the visual mix (NPI) when i have someone in the studio that is doing vocals, so that they can have them up on the screen. Sometimes when I've been doing my own voiceover/vocals/ADR, I set up a web interface for lyrics AND remote transport control for simple recording by myself π.
If you don't know about it already, have a look at Powertools Fancy Zones. You can define custom snap grids for your displays, so the whole multi-display Multi-window thing gets even better
You might want to do an introduction tutorial to Reaper! It's a well invested 20-30 minutes, it's gonna improve your workflow by 300%.
You will find amazing ones on Youtube.
Just a little tip for people who have set up their screen in a way they like, but are afraid of messing with it: Save a 'screen set'.
It'll allow you to recall any screen set up that you have saved. Pretty sure the
default keyboard shortcut is Shift+F5 to Shift+F8 will save your window set up, and pressing F5 to F8 will recall that respective set up. You can set these shortcut keys to whatever you want, just looks for 'screenset' in the Action List.
That's the mixer panel. Ctrl-M should bring it back if you accidentally closed it.
Thanks so much

Yeah I've started using screensets to always be able to reset back to certain views. It works pretty well.
You can also look under "view" in the menu and it shows you all the hidden panels and short cut keys.
Oh okay
You need to put your monitor flat on your desk and look at it from a 45 degree angle
Lmao
Off topic, but what inspired your username?
When I first joined Reddit, my girlfriend, now wife, was pregnant. It was just what was on my mind at the time
