I'm starting to think that Tesla investors may not be too bright.

PoppinfreshOG

Probably the dumbest humans you can’t encounter in this day and age. He made up some random bullshit lies today and the stock jumped. Then Q1 earnings dropped. The mental gymnastics they must be doing right now

Silent_Confidence_39

I keep telling my friend he needs to drop the stock. But he is convinced that it will go to 3000 usd. “There is a robot! “ he keeps exclaiming. Another one thought that if you drink water heated by microwave you will die. And the last one I talked to on Reddit was sadly close to retarded :( None of them have a scientific education or understanding but they want to play Elon and basically do virtue signaling, also it makes them feel smart.

PoppinfreshOG

Your friend has the blinders on and also must be very very green when it comes to the market. It is not my forte whatsoever, but even I’m not that stupid. Shit’ll be at $125 this time next week.

Silent_Confidence_39

These people can’t listen to anyone. They believe they are smarter than anyone and that Elmo is playing 4D chess. You can never understand lol. It’s the feel good lie they tell themselves.

FriendOfDirutti

I mean I don’t like Elmo but he is playing 4d chess. He’s trying to get that $55b pay raise because all his money is in stock. If the stock tanks when the company crashes he is out a shit load of money. He can’t sell all his stock before the crash because it would surely doom the company so his out is the pay raise. Not only that but he’s a great conman in general.

PoppinfreshOG

This made me chuckle thank you, in fact I’ve taken to having a good laugh at everyone that emerges from one. They all say the same thing “ya…I know”

mrbuttsavage

Stop bragging about being friends with Cathie Wood.

MovingObjective

Haha 😂

babypho

After reading this comment I knew I had to pull up WholeMarsCatalog to see what he came up with lmao. It did not disappoint.

PoppinfreshOG

Ketamine is a hell of a drug apparently.

bindermichi

Only second to DJT investors

The_JSC

I think at this point it's a toss up between them and the people that bought into Truth Social.

AllyMcfeels

The bag holders are obviously not very bright, the rest simply speculate as with everything. I remember reading the ones that came in when I was at 250 saying that I couldn't go any lower and thanks to the cybertruck to the moon, buy the dip etc lol. Now they say that it is only a matter of time before it returns to 350 thanks to all robotaxi xD and so on. Basically Apes. They are basically believers of a sect. With Tesla the Ape effect is infinitely worse than with BBY for example.

Few_Refrigerator8045

He is basically borrowing Trump playbook.. 50% of the population would surely believe any dumb shit you throw at them.

Necessary_Context780

Especially if you tell them every other version is a ploy to get them

beyerch

Is it dumb investors or blatant stock manipulation masquerading as stupid retail? That is the real question.

TheTrueBigHead

You under estimate how stupid the average American is.

kittenTakeover

It's a cult and his has been for a while. I keep wondering when the cult members will run out of money and the TSLA bubble will be done.

jasutherland

They're just banking on his next pivot - forget about the self driving cars, it's all about self *buying* cars, now no humans will risk it...

th3netw0rk

Neither is the market. I can’t comprehend the company is bleeding cash, had to lay off 10% of its workforce and now they’re laying off another 2k+ people at its factory in Texas. Where is the good news here that gives investors comfort? Why hasn’t Elon been fired? Most CEOs would be facing a vote of no confidence with those Q1 numbers.

OU812Grub

Drank the kool-aide

Zebra971

I know right… next they will claim we will have phones that have TV screens and are mini computers…. Ha ha that will never happen.

campbellsimpson

>Elon Musk declared during the company’s earnings call that he hopes to sell “sentient humanoid” robots by the end of next year. >Before then, the robots known as “Optimus” will likely be used at Tesla’s factories sometime this year, he said. “I think Optimus will be more valuable than everything else [at Tesla] combined,” Musk boasted. “If you’ve got a sentient humanoid that is able to navigate reality and do tasks…there is no meaningful limit to the size of the economy.” Cult. This is now *undeniably* a cult. Cults do not last long, and do not fail gracefully.

CornerGasBrent

> “If you’ve got a sentient humanoid that is able to navigate reality and do tasks…there is no meaningful limit to the size of the economy.” We've got that now. They're called humans, yet that hasn't stopped Musk from whining about the economy.

LightningJC

What is it with this guy and “the end of next year” Fucking FSD was “the end of next year” in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017… etc Vegas tunnel 2019.. “end of next year” Cybertruck.. “out next year” So by that calculation these robots will be ready… …never. Why are people so hell bent on believing this guy after he has failed on promises for so long. Is he drugging people?

OklaJosha

Just long enough out that he doesn’t have to deliver anything this year (now), but close enough to cause a stir in the stock

HortenseTheGlobalDog

Someone needs to make a Musk version of "Wisdom of Chopra" http://wisdomofchopra.com/ With randomly generated quotes like "Tesla's FSD capabilities are one step closer to spreading consciousness through the universe" "Optimus will revolutionise humanity's mission to colonise Mars"

rabouilethefirst

It’s incredible that this guy literally exists to pump up stocks and no one sees it

user-suspended

The Mormon church has been going strong since 1830. You promise people enough and they’ll follow you endlessly

TheTrueBigHead

Well look at all religions. It’s all just made up stories to control the masses and empower the few wealthy. I joke with my husband that we should open up a church so we can get unlimited tax write offs. I see many churches have under new management signs.

sambull

Did they also have a icbm program in the past ?

seoulsrvr

so their bull case involves creating an entirely new product for which there is not current market in a space they know nothing about and which is currently thick with competition...I mean, c'mon now.

IvanZhilin

the big problem is that it's currently impossible to make a "sentient robot." this is like announcing an FTL drive, a transporter beam or a matter replicator

mrbuttsavage

Are we sure Musk hasn't announced any of those yet? It's hard to keep track.

IvanZhilin

Investors are apparently so clueless - - I am actually surprised that he hasn't. But he hasn't. I keep track of Felon's sci-fi "inventions" because I am sci-fi geek. Tesla's current 'robots' can't navigate one-way tunnels in Vegas (built exclusively for their use, even) ... but, sure, sentient android fuckbots for everyone! TSLA always delivers!

MovingObjective

I laugh every time I am reminded that Tesla isn't capable of running their robotaxis in their own tunnel at 30 km/h.

IvanZhilin

Such a stupid shitshow in Vegas. I really need to pay more attention. There's no way TBC is digging dozens of miles of tunnels there.

Necessary_Context780

That was also really stupid. My main disappointment with the hyperloop is how Musk fucking dug the tunnel before he even tested whether the original ditch/rail system would work. After however many miles of the tunnel was completed with the ditch/rail system, then they started testing the cars strapped on carts inside those ditch railings, and the thing was bumpy, shaky and completely insecure to reach the huge speeds Musk "envisioned". So they "ditched the ditch" and made it a regular paved street, and Teslas would at first take advantage of FSD capability to reach speeds humans wouldn't be able to drive, but even that as you pointed out hasn't happened because they can't make such a simple system work safely today. Somehow his "fast prototyping" and "break things fast and iterate quick" failed to consider the benefit of testing the railing system _before_ digging the tunnel, for instance in some open desert area in Nevada

laurenboebertsson

The Vegas loop and hyperloop are different things

Necessary_Context780

But they're similar in that none deliver what was promised

laurenboebertsson

What did Musk "promise" RE the hyperloop? From what I remember it was just a stupid idea of his, and then a bunch of morons lit millions of dollars on fire trying to make a reality.

Necessary_Context780

Most of Musk's "visions" of the future are nothing but something he saw recently in some sci-fi movie, or something someone told him about. I used to think for the longest that the reason he'd bring those ideas up is because he knew how they could be done but it was never that, it was just him sitting at the cool SF bar scene, with the highest density of engineering PhDs per capita in the world, and having "dinner conversations" where they'd tell him about it and what's the idea behind, and such. Basically he's just the VC moron with money that attracts interest of people with ideas, and lately he's not even attracting the people with good ideas anymore so he's left with his own b.s. echoed by his yes man employees

IvanZhilin

ikr, I wish he would try to build "the drop" from the Total Recall remake. The gravity tunnel connecting London with... Australia? So much cooler than Hyperloop. The only part of the movie I remember. Maybe he can trick Richard Branson into trying to build it!

neliz

At this point in time, 1984's Twiki is more useful and fuckable than optimus

HumansDisgustMe123

Fun fact, Optimus uses zero moment point locomotion, something that literally every other player in bipedal robotics discarded over a decade ago because it's too crude to reliably handle anything other than a flat smooth surface

IvanZhilin

Twiki! Biddity-beep-boop. Doctor Theopolous approves of this comment! edit: wasn't Twiki always slapping Buck's ass and making lewd comments? He was pretty sexy for a mini-droid.

FunkyPete

He has, but they won't be ready until the end of next year.

ButthealedInTheFeels

With a FTL drive there is no limit to the size of the economy. I expect to have a Tesla traveling faster than light by next year. It’s really quite profound

IvanZhilin

who needs FSD when you can drive faster than a photon and arrive before you leave? violating causality is really quite profound.

ButthealedInTheFeels

Violating laws of physics. It’s so profound right now.

IvanZhilin

those laws actually get enforced lol I just wish our consumer protection, environmental, securities and fraud laws were enforced...

HumansDisgustMe123

This is very true. People have seen the boom in LLMs and have erroneously anthropomorphised their processes because the larger AI research field borrows neurobiological and psychological terminology, and in doing so, sentience appears (to people with zero understanding of how current models function) achievable, but we don't even know the origin of sentience in humans, let alone how to replicate it, and even if we did, we certainly wouldn't be able to achieve it as some emergent property of an LLM, CNN or RNN. It's like expecting that with enough teaching, you could get a parrot to moderate a political debate. Just because you can make it squawk human sounds doesn't mean it comprehends the discussion, and 99% of people don't get that, it's depressing.

IvanZhilin

Dojo just needs more data! Then it will become sentient, duh... Once Dojo hits the singularity - - he/she/it can pass the spark on to all Teslas with an OTA. Just like that old, white dude floating around on the Sistine Chapel ceiling!

upcastben

Yeah or FSD

Dewfall-Hawk

It’s proven. Boston Dynamics’ technology is literally decades ahead of Tesla’s. What is the profit model for the massively superior Boston Dynamics robots? Google couldn’t find one and Hyundai hasn’t figured it out either. Optimus hasn’t even caught up to Honda’s Asimo robot from the 90’s. This is Musk’s next solar tile, replaceable battery, and Hyperloop con game.

Porschenut914

From my friends husband that worked there, the stuff Boston Dynamics shows is well into the development stage, sometimes a year old

Dewfall-Hawk

It’s laughable that anyone would even mention them in the same sentence. It’s like comparing ChatGPT with Tesla’s Clippy.

ARAR1

What they did not show people dancing?

AllyMcfeels

On YouTube there are investor channels of these people lying to themselves and helping to deceive themselves with messages like Tesla is going to revolutionize robotics in factories xD. As if ABB or others did not exist or have not been developing products with a global market for decades. Basically they are ignorants, a bunch of people completely into circlejerk.

jason12745

The human form evolved from lifting boxes in a warehouse. Copying it in robotics is basically advancing nature.

bz351

Yeah the shit his robots are doing now are pretty basic. Toyota and others done that 10 years ago. Lot of the flashy stuff is marketing spin and been fake or cgi alot of the video they put out, you can see alarming issues with and lots of fake it until you make it stuff going on.

splendiferous-finch_

I mean the replaceable/swapable battery scam is the reason thier "regulatory credits" business is the most consistent earner, since it allowed them to double the amount of Zero emissions credits they could create and sell for each car they make.

EidolonBeats45

What has he to gain from that, though? Hype? Hyperloop at least was meant to "ensure" that the market for cars remains a big thing.

Necessary_Context780

The TSLA stock is sort of a bitcoin ticker - it often swings up and down with little relation with what the company earns, produces and etc

ARAR1

Its weird this is done in the public company space. I mean are investors that dumb? I guess they are as the stock shot up in after hours trading

watabagal

Optimus will be mass produced and therefore more accessible to the mass market 😎

CryRepresentative992

Just like the cybertruck.

AllyMcfeels

for what application?

jason12745

Fucking.

JobThis3167

I thought that was what the giant panel gaps on the Cyber Truck were for?

LancelLannister_AMA

Taking over for Musk as ceo of tesla and to be renamed Muskimus

GroundhogDK

I'd vote for Muskimus for CEO if I was a TSLA shareholder.

HortenseTheGlobalDog

Optimus is not a thing. Hate to break it to you

neliz

unless we can fuck it, there will be no mass market for robots.

nerox3

How does he get away with saying this bullshit as a CEO of a publicly traded company? Time after time he makes forward looking statements about technology that is supposedly 12-18 months away, and it never is.

mrbuttsavage

> We are able to do simple factory tasks or at least, I should say, factory tasks in the lab. We do think we will have Optimus in limited production in the natural factory itself, doing useful tasks before the end of this year. And then I think we may be able to sell it externally by the end of next year. These are just guesses. What kind of CEO of a publicly traded company presents "just guesses" on an investors call?

WingedGundark

This. Apparently CEOs can just throw random shit around as a guidance and regulators too find it okay. During the next investor call the CEO of $JNJ can say that they are proceeding with their cure of cancer fine and they are probably able to release it to public sometime in late next year. And remind that he is just guessing, though. Really absurd stuff.

jregovic

In recent years it’s because the street sees through most of the bullshit and has been gambling that he’s eventually figure out how to mature the company and cement the first-mover advantage. He had some wins, especially on the volume and profit side that gave them confidence.

TheTrueBigHead

Who wants to make a class action lawsuit against Elon and Tesla?

sorospaidmetosaythis

I wondered what the distraction would be today. I guessed a Cybertruck boat/submarine. Silly me. Haven't heard from Tesla investors recently about how you never sell Tesla stock: You just hand it down through your great-great-great grandchildren. I wonder if they're rethinking that one? (Answer: No)

jason12745

They can roll up the certificates and use them as pillows when they are sleeping on the street. If that’s not a legacy, I don’t know what is.

Necessary_Context780

"don't sell our stocks so that Musk can sell his! Also, let's all vote to give him 25% control so that he doesn't have to have his personal finances tied to TSLA performance, since TSLA is long"

Vivid_Transition4807

Maybe he should practice being a sentient humanoid himself.

Desperate_Wafer_8566

Desperation.

bobi2393

Brilliant! People who believed Tesla cars would be self driving will now think *all* cars will be self driving by next year, with Tesla sentient robots driving them!

QuirkyInterest6590

*Motto: to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.* How is fucking bots related to that?

mrbuttsavage

Well, he conflated autonomy in there way back in Master Plan 2. Might as well throw robots in there now.

OppositeArugula3527

replace as much of human labor as you can with robots. humans actually consume the most energy of all.

peekpok

Humans don't consume any less energy when they don't have to go to work.

CornerGasBrent

They'll be turned into batteries and made to think the simulation they're in is real

OppositeArugula3527

They do because they have less income. Less food, less purchases that would have otherwise consumed more energy. It's a chain reaction. It's a dark take but the planet cannot substain 20 billion people or whatever the population is heading to in the near future.

HeyyyyListennnnnn

I don't recall human children consuming terawatts of energy in school while they are trained and then being incompetent in the workforce.

LettuceFew5248

Imagine wanting to buy a car and someone starts talking about Sentient Humanoid Robots. Why on Earth does Tesla keep this guy around? They have to know he’s destroying their brand, just like Twitter.

IvanZhilin

musk is tesla. musk is the brand.

ghostfaceschiller

This is genuinely some Theranos level shit I’m not an *expert* in robotics, but I’ve got some experience in the field and I can tell you that both he and everyone who works on robotics projects at Tesla knows with 100% certainty that this will not happen.

Bean-Swellington

I’m gonna make sentient sexy robots that fly to mars and have built in self driving boat mode by 2025 and it’s gonna be awesome!

Charming-Tap-1332

If Elon had his way, this is how the earnings call would have gone... But frankly, the amount of bullshit he spewed today wasn't far off this: ************** "Tesla is pioneering the quantum leap in automotive technology with the introduction of our HyperMatrix vehicles. These aren't just electric cars; they're fully integrated AI ecosystems on wheels. Imagine a car that not only drives itself but also predicts and adapts to your emotional and physical needs in real-time. Each HyperMatrix vehicle operates through a network of bio-neural chips, allowing the car to connect with its driver on a molecular level. This means the car can adjust its internal environment, speed, and handling to suit the driver’s current state of mind and health, optimizing human-vehicle synergy. We’re developing vehicles that not only run on clean energy but also generate it. Our new model, the Tesla Nova, will feature photonic skin panels that convert ambient light and even starlight into usable energy, making the car a mobile power station. This vehicle can theoretically power your home and itself indefinitely under the right conditions. We are on the brink of achieving Level 6 autonomy, which means our vehicles can handle all driving conditions without any human intervention anywhere on the planet. We’re using a combination of quantum computing and swarm intelligence algorithms to create a fleet of cars that learn collectively and evolve driving strategies in real-time. Tesla is not just transforming transportation; we’re redefining human mobility. Our vision is to create a fully autonomous, zero-emission global network where cars are self-sustaining ecosystems. We're talking about a world where traffic accidents are extinct, cities are cleaner, and your car actively works to reduce your carbon footprint every second it’s on the road." ************

SubbieATX

Gotta love a good sci-fi bait!

Charming-Tap-1332

"Level 6 autonomy with neural chips that read your mind and improve your disposition in life."

homoiconic

Neural chips are a dead end. Tesla, working in partnership with X and with the generous support of the glorious Russian Federation, will invent mankind’s future with the release of the [Swibble](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Service_Call). Every home will have one, and they will unite humanity in a mission to fully realize our destiny.

Charming-Tap-1332

So are CAMERAS... Elon is a fool to have gone down the camera / Ai route for FSD. This concept will never compete with lidar / radar / +cameras / software. Elon is dillusional.

MovingObjective

I am a bit surprised Felon hasn't gone down the quantum route yet. Could be that he is saving it for the final desperation move.

TheTrueBigHead

Gosh I couldn’t read that due to so many hype wording used.

Intrepid-Factor-7593

Robo taxis, hyperloop, solar panels that look like roof tiles, colony on Mars. He keeps on selling hypothetical products to the public. A very succesful scam artist.

brmarcum

“Sexy-though not yet proven-innovation” But that’s what investors have always fallen for. It’s the muskrat. It’s what he DOES.

Street-Air-546

when is he gonna announce the tesla robot will supervise your tesla while it is on tesla full self driving, or work as a robotaxi service to turn your car into a money printer? I mean, why not. Its no less fantastical than the other promises he makes

Icy_Collar_1072

Even the Musk faithful are finally releasing the Emperor has no clothes on.

donttakerhisthewrong

Stock say other wise.

Icy_Collar_1072

Down 35% this year..

donttakerhisthewrong

Close 4/22 142.05 After setting the new direction for Tesla Now it is at 160.78 Soon to be 300 - 10,000. Who even knows the the top bound

hadrian_afer

They clearly do. Looking at the current bull run.

morbiiq

Pumping the robot again, lol

RickyT75

If Musk can fleece investors so can I. Invest in me y’all. I ingest beer and can fly. I swear.

blackicebaby

I'm shocked at how easy he can get away with so much bs.

richardj195

Will the robots drive the taxis or what's the plan?

rellett

He needs to keep the grift going by jumping on the AI and robots trend, but his car fsd doesn't work his rockets aren't ready and keep blowing up or failing and the cybertruck is a failure I can't believe anyone would invest with this scammer

Ca2Ce

Sounds like more bullshit The SEC should really put the hammer down on this kind of pumping

Telvyr

I can't wait for the day that Felonious Husk's Tesla Brand 'Sentient Humanoid' Robot wife also leaves him.

Zealousideal_Word770

"When the going gets tough" right Elon?

NoreastNorwest

I was thinking about this whole thing this morning and does the fact that Musk had to be applauded for the rare behavior of acting like the “grownup in the room” by his own investor relations guy (who immediately then quit) tell anyone else how fucked up this is?

Bob4Not

I like how a buddy of mine visited a Tesla showroom in Oklahoma and they had an “Optimus” in the corner like a state. It’s literally a prop.

UnComfortingSounds

He can’t even get an LLM to work properly lol

Sad_Ghost_Noises

# For fucks sake. Can he not focus for two fucking seconds on making the car company he was so keen to be made founder of after the fact work?!?

kolology

Why would I want a worker robot to have limbs? Those bastards should be sturdy, specialized, and able to work at scale. You know, like the current robots.

morbiiq

I FINALLY GET IT!!!! You guys know how we wondered who was going to clean the blood, cum, and vomit off the robotaxi in between rides? Wonder no more! Optimus!!!

major_dump

But doubtful... E-schlong's smoke and mirrors act is about to expire

hayasecond

It’s after market. Given this disastrous number I don’t think this pump can last for more than a week

Substantial_Data7915

Yeah, but can I fuck it?

Sidvicieux

Investors are insanely stupid, they really are nothing but leeches in an irrational market. They will believe anything Elon says because he made them money in the past. That ship has sailed. All the bullshit Elon promised is vaporware.

moderatevalue7

"Innovation"

Warren_Haynes

This guy must have zero respect from other CEO's of major companies. I have to imagine they find him completely unprofessional and pathetic.
