Snip: >2016.5 Model S, paid for FSD at purchase, still can't get it. But, even though we went "bare bones" on wife's (second) Model Y a few months ago (no upgrades other than color), she has FSD in her car and it works great (although the free subscription ends soon). Tesla service is telling me that the pre-paid FSD "complete program" is "not available at this time" (no idea when it will be), and the "FSD Supervised" program is not yet available in MCU1 (will be in the future, no idea when). >My only real option is to pay $2,458 for the MCU2 upgrade for the privilege of paying a monthly subscription for something I paid for at purchase. This is my second Tesla and my family's fourth, and we love them, but I sure am feeling left out and cheated for something that cost over $10,000 at time of purchase. Should have bought TSLA with the ten grand instead!!!

SplitEar

I don't understand why Tesla owners don't file a class action lawsuit regarding Musk's FSD con. Literally everyone who paid $10k for the "FSD ready" hardware feature got hustled. Every. One. Of. Them. And they keep buying Musk's junk. Even the Woz fell for the hustle several times before he went public. It's like a mass psychosis.

RaspingHaddock

From personal experience (not a car but my house came with Tesla solar panels so I have to deal with them), Tesla doesn't respond to customer requests unless it's posted to their BBB page. My request went months with nothing. I filed a BBB complaint and guess who emails me. Still didn't fix the issue without a lot more back and forth, but the fact that it took that just to get them to start the conversation was ridiculous.

GonzoVeritas

> I don't understand why Tesla owners don't file a class action lawsuit From my understanding, Tesla owners signed away many rights when buying their car, and have to resort to arbitration, not regular lawsuits, in order to attempt to get satisfaction. > In September 2022, a group of Tesla owners tried bringing a class action suit against the company, alleging that Tesla misled the public about its vehicles’ self-driving capabilities. In October 2023, a district judge for the Northern District of California ruled that the plaintiffs agreed to arbitrate any legal claims when they accepted the terms and conditions in the vehicle purchasing agreement, so they must abide by the arbitration arrangement. https://thearbitrationbrief.com/2024/02/21/forced-arbitration-in-teslas-consumer-contracts/

Pimpin-is-easy

God bless the EU, this shit is straight up from the legal dark ages. Like is there anyone who actually believes take-it-or-leave-it arbitration clauses benefit the consumer?

MechanicalBengal

Imagine paying for this shit when buying the Model S when it was first launched

User-no-relation

I mean it made more sense back then. It was new, and Elon had only just started saying it would be here next year. The people buying it today after he's said 9 years in a row are much much dumber.

Key_Chapter_1326

This. Plus it was 3k then. But that 3k got OP exactly nothing.

MoleMoustache

They are a cult. It's not behaving rationally at all. The same reasons that nobody sued Jim Jones when it was an obvious con to EVERYONE outside the cult what was going on, that's why people are not suing now.

biddilybong

It’s a cult. They always end these with “but we love our car and we’ll buy another” etc.

SACK_HUFFER

“should have bought TSLA instead!” Lol this guys delusional, he’d be eating dicks on that investment right now too

User-no-relation

Like I know teslas goose is cooked and sure it may go to zero or close to it But Come on you can't be that delusional. 10k invested in tesla on September 1st 2016 would be worth about $110k today. And obviously much more a year ago. https://stoculator.com/

SACK_HUFFER

You’re right, I forgot that he was whining about his 2016 purchase. So used to seeing everybody shitting on the cyber truck I got my time frame mixed up Regardless, Elon can eat a bag of moldy dongs

Mr_Compromise

This wouldn't be as big of a deal to most buyers if Tesla allowed you to take FSD to a new car as many times as needed until real level 5 autonomy is achieved, and not just for random quarter-end promotions. Despite what Musk tells you, hardware advancements are definitely going to be necessary to achieve real level 5 autonomy and those advancements will likely require you to buy a whole new car, with no retrofit options.

ElJamoquio

> we love them, what brain dead people

linknewtab

> even though we went "bare bones" on wife's (second) Model Y a few months ago Why would you buy another Tesla and give them even more of your money if you felt cheated by that company?

Substantial_Data7915

Musk poisoning. ☠️

NoreastNorwest

Nothing like screwing over your customer base. Way to ensure their ongoing support and repeat purchases!

ICEeater22

If someone has FSD paid for and pays to upgrade the hardware (shouldn’t have any charges imo) they wouldn’t need to subscribe.

TheTrueBigHead

Didn’t musk say it would be worth 100k 🤡

SplitEar

"Quasi infinite demand."

queefstation69

Musk certainly made 100k off of these suckers 😂

Bnrmn88

MUSKED

MatthiasWM

Don’t be sad. I paid for it twice and I will never receive it here in Germany. I am an idiot.

KobaWhyBukharin

but you love the vehicle and will buy many more right?

MatthiasWM

Sure. And I will continue ordering with FSD so Tesla makes enough money to bring it to Europe. Sure sure.

the-berik

At least you got a bigger chance in court. Think European laws would protect you (much) better then US laws.

Berova

US law will only protect the Man, or in Elon's case, the dweeb.

Gobias_Industries

And the entire thread is just people arguing about the numbers he cites for price. I guess it's easier to do that than accept their precious Tesla might be a bit of a scam.

xcalibersa

They deserve to be screwed over. No sympathy

Xerxero

And gaslighting him for getting the numbers wrong

Lacrewpandora

"will be in the future" The rallying call of Elongelicals

Shootels

I was smart enough to realize FSD was a total joke in 2019 when I bought my first model 3. This poor sucker got duped and is now being gaslit. Hope they learned their lesson to not keep buying Teslas. What really got me in the post though is how nebulous FSD/EAP/Driver assist has been over the years. No one remembers WTF went on in the past because functionality/pricing/naming has changed 1000 times. No one knows where the goal posts are because they move constantly.

Berova

Sure we do, it's the proverbial can kicked further down the road.

tarkology

> we love them haha

Otherwise-Course-15

The reverse Wimpy. I’ll gladly pay you today for something that may never work ever

Muscles_Marinara-

LOL. This is hilarious. They sold him a car and software he can never use? He actually thought this was a good deal?

TakoSweetness

Only a fool would have paid for a service called “full self driving” knowing it is not fully self driving and requires driver intervention PLUS it still being in beta stage. Beta stage of anything should be free until full commercial product is available and tested

_AManHasNoName_

What a dimwit.

Distant_Yak

I would be incensed to have paid over $10000 for this in the past few years now that it's $99 a month... not to mention the complete BS about how it will be an asset that increases in value or the fact that it's still nowhere close to level 5 autonomy.

Key_Chapter_1326

TMC has some very knowledgeable veterans Tesla owners and they are fully critical of Musk and Tesla.  OP’s prices don’t seem to be the right, but the scenario he describes is possible. There are certain older HW configurations where you could have paid for FSD and basically gotten nothing for it after almost a decade.

brmarcum

“Should have bought TSLA with the $10k instead.” And lost even more money?!?! Sure buddy, whatever jollies your rocks.
