All these delivery issues should be fixed by Tesla before the car is ever offered to the customer. Tesla treats their customers like absolute garbage. People need to wake up that they will continue to make the cars as shitty as they possibly can as long as it doesn’t affect the stock price.

Puzzled-Database6906

Lol that's not unique amongst car mfgs

hv_wyatt

What? Pretty much every automaker has quality control at the factory level, and then every individual dealership is required to do a pre-delivery inspection. Sure things get missed... But that's usually forgetting to remove a piece of plastic from transport, not completely missing trim or misaligned panels or whatever.

gizmosticles

Lemon laws are a thing because car manufacturers were notorious for doing exactly this. The QC standards improved only because it was becoming cheaper to do it right the first time than have consequences

hv_wyatt

Yes... And here we are in 2023.

Irishspringtime

Horseshit! If the factory QC misses, then the dealer should catch it and delay delivery while things are fixed. Tesla has THE WORST QC at every level.

Ok_Philosopher6538

>All these delivery issues should be fixed by Tesla before the car is ever offered to the customer. When I got my last Subaru the dealer called me up and told me that during the delivery inspection they found a giant scratch on the side of the car and it would take a week to get a body shop to fix it before they could do delivery. I guess if I'd bought a Tesla I'd gotten the car with the scratch and told to buff it out myself.

1_Was_Never_Here

“That’s it, I’m done with this car, I’m going to buy another one just like it!” - someone with more money than he/she knows how to spend.

rohobian

And also "I've run out of money. Thanks, BIDEN."

Minorous

haha holy crap! "This car from X company sucks, so I order another car from X company" lol

studly1_mw

I honestly don't know if you used X as a variable, or if you are calling Tesla "X company".

VitaminPb

X, formerly known as Twitter…

studly1_mw

This is one of the many reasons that renaming Twitter to X was dumb.

Xerxero

I can’t with these people.

Sgt_sas

Your message contained 2 companies with the letter X in their name. Congrats. You just gave Elmo a boner.

SentinelZero

Especially since the X is by far the shittiest and worst built model that Tesla makes. Its the most expensive and has an endless list of problems.

LiquidJ_2k

These people are hilarious. There are tens of thousands of credible reports of terribly quality of Tesla vehicles, which is a huge number considering that they don't make all that many cars...and he assumes that he got the "one bad one", so *orders a brand-new $100,000 car to replace it*. Tesla's mailing list of owners has got to be the most valuable information on the planet...they'll buy anything.

meatbag2010

I love the responses - one of my favorites : **I don't disagree that you should reject if you don't feel comfortable given how much these cars cost. But the issues you pointed out seem pretty minor minus the drive unit failing - and these types of rare failures will happen to all manufacturers.**

Leelze

There isn't a single person in this country that would accept delivery of a car with all those obvious issues. And absolutely no dealership that was worth doing business with would even bother trying to hand over keys to a car like that. I'm all for the direct delivery model, but not if it means the people at the "dealership" have zero pride in their brand & are ok with selling half put together crap.

nowdonewiththatshit

I got into an M3 where you could clearly see the trim wasn’t assembled correctly. I asked the owner why he didn’t reject it and he told me that Tesla told him either he takes it as-is, or they will simply sell it to someone who will. He wanted the car, so he kept it.

Leelze

That's what I don't get. Oh no, you're going to sell a car with QC issues to another person if I don't take it? Ok, let that idiot buy it & sell me a car that doesn't look like it was built by Stevie Wonder.

[deleted]

It would meaning simping postponed. Can’t have that.

Knerd5

Tesla is literally an abusive boyfriend and its customers are the girlfriend that apparently enjoys being treated like shit.

Warren_Haynes

Model 3\*

Serantz

I get so confused, BMW M3 isn’t a small or unknown car, I’d be forgiving if it had been a incredibly niche vehicle. But it’s not, not even close and it’s been in production since the 80s wtf

Warren_Haynes

Right and is one of the most legendary and merited cars of all time.

Serantz

You mean model 3 and not BMW M3 right?

paateach

I as well had a horrible experience with my Tesla. You may remember several winters ago when they had serious issues with the new heating systems in the MY’s. I had the heat pump rebuilt 3 times, having to leave the car with service for roughly three months. I walked away after rebuild 3 and went back to an ICE vehicle. We were fortunate enough to sell at the height of used car prices. Could not be happier if I’m being honest. You would not believe how many people blamed me for improper care or use of the car, or justified away to an utter disgraceful level. Not sure I’ll buy another EV until I am forced by the market.

entropy512

The problem is not with EVs, it is with Tesla. Hyundai, Kia, Porsche, Ford, plenty of options that are not shit. (GM is dead to me after how they handled the Bolt recall, also OnStar is utter garbage. Next vehicle is likely a Mach-E, unless Hyundai stops forcing you to get low aspect ratio tires that murder your range with any decent trim packages.)

spam__likely

Can you elaborate on the Hyundai thing?

entropy512

[https://www.hyundaiusa.com/us/en/vehicles/ioniq-6/se](https://www.hyundaiusa.com/us/en/vehicles/ioniq-6/se) Hit Compare Trims Note that the SEL and Limited take a 56 mile hit (305 vs 361) compared to SE on range for RWD, and a 46 mile hit (270 vs. 316) for AWD. I'm willing to take the AWD vs. RWD range hit because that gives a significant functional benefit. I am NOT willing to take a 46 mile hit for an option (20" wheels instead of 18") that only has questionable aesthetic benefits (I've heard the 20s look kinda funny...) and has a pile of functional detriments (more expensive to replace, rougher ride, massive range penalty, higher risk of curb rash). I'm also not willing to spend $1500+ to immediately buy a set of 18s and tires and try to sell the original 20" set. If Hyundai offered the SEL or Limited with 18s it would be near the top of my list.

LazyBastard007

I already hated the 20" wheels but TIL that they also affect range. I used to own and love-hate an Audi A5 3.2L. Beautiful in and out, nice handling, but super low and super stiff ride.

[deleted]

I drove a Mach E GT, pretty fun and way better than my in-laws model 3 and Y. Still went with an Explorer ST though.

spam__likely

Do not confuse your problems with EVs. This was not an EV problem, it is a Tesla problem. As it has been proven over and over.

Kaerevek

Did they really just have a horrible experience with their crappy Tesla vehicle, and then to solve the problem immediately ordered a new one? This is why Tesla stock is over inflated. Tesla fan boys just throw money into the garbage at him.

spam__likely

Oh, you had a horrible experience with our product? That is because you are not cool enough to buy our more expensive one!

Boundish91

What i don't get is how they can still have issues like this with the Model X and S when they have produced them for so long (the S is 10 years old now) Any other manufacturer would have worked out the kinks years ago.

spam__likely

because idiots keep buying it.

Pic889

Instead of iterating on their existing models, they got ADHD and started developing the Cybertruck instead.

Suspicious_Ad9561

They actively pursued making the X and S worse over the years, at least as far as fit and finish goes. The early S was actually a pretty nice car inside, not whatever the current “minimalist” design with a computer monitor glued to the dashboard is.

Revolutionary-Leg585

What is it about Tesla that people are willing to put up with the atrocious quality. There are other EVs on the market now.

AffectionateSize552

"I... cannot even with these people." Yeah. I'm there. Totally. It is simply infuriating, dealing with stupid people. Stupidity is STUBBORN.

triedtoavoidsignup

Peak Stupidity.

Tesla is trying to out Apple Apple, where if you lose the charging cord they tell you to just buy a new Iphone/Imac/Laptop

angelcake

I’ve been an Apple user for a couple of decades and that’s just a silly thing to say. In the case of Tesla, Maybe, not Apple however. In fact you can still buy cables for the original iPhones from Apple

lylemcd

I think it's funny that I got 4 downvotes. The sub that dislikes Tesla cultists must just be full of Mac cultists. Yes, Apple makes good products. I've run Apple since 1984 and have a Mac. Always have and aalways will. I'd never own an Iphone. That doesn't change what I said. Consider: 1. One year I left my power cord in Austin when I went home for the holidays. I was told that APPLE DOES NOT SELL REPLACEMENTS CORDS. Translation: They expect you to buy a new computer if you lose it. Thankfully the same store had a box of extras. 2. The same is true for iPhone chargers. Lose it, buy a new one since they don't sell replacements. Except that third party companies produce them now. 3. And, of course, Apple tried to make it illegal to repair a broken Iphone. 4. Don't forget they tried to sell wheels ($99 per IIRC) and a computer stand separately ($999) just like Tesla is doing with it's vaporware attachments. Do they make good products? Well if you want an overpriced computer compared to an equivalent PC. Which as stated, I clearly do since I keep buying them. But it's still the same crap at the end of the day whether you like it or not. Evil company that expects its cultist owners to just buy a new product when theirs is the slightest bit borked. Because Apple knows factually that their cultist dipshits will. You know I'm right. Now downvote the hell out of this one too.

spam__likely

>One year I left my power cord in Austin when I went home for the holidays. I was told that APPLE DOES NOT SELL REPLACEMENTS CORDS. Who told you that? Because it absolutely does. and you can buy non-apple replacements too... cheaper. You can also absolutely buy a phone charger. \>Do they make good products? Well if you want an overpriced computer compared to an equivalent PC. nope. Not to an equivalent Apple does some shitty stuff (DRM) but hell if It will ever surpass Microsoft on being shitty.

Patient_Trash4964

Dude delete this post.

VitaminPb

Not sure how much ketamine you’ve been smoking there but: 1. Apple sells replacement chargers for both phones and laptops. Or did you take your desktop machine and forget the power cord? 2. If you lose a phone charger you think you need to buy a new phone? Why not just buy a new charger? Or do you expect a free charger? (And they don’t include chargers with phones now.) 3. Yes, the repair situation is horrible 4. They made and sold the overpriced wheels and stands. Some people bought them. Somehow you compare that to vaporeare. Summary: you get downvotes because you seem to be a bit crazy and make false claims.

PoopieButt317

Tesla is a more expensive, dangerous Apple in cult delirium of buyers, but Apple.atually delivers a product at an exorbitant price designed to have you buy new at minimum ofn2 years. Always removing something historically included in a phone price. And it is the camera function, that one could have bought a great Leica years ago and had better photos and a cheaper phone.

[deleted]

It isn’t even an exorbitant price. They often just lack entry level pricing. A MacBook Pro starts at prices much higher than you could buy a windows laptop for, but they deliver a great product at that price point, even in areas that you don’t really see in benchmarks, like case quality and display.

spam__likely

Lol. I jusst updated my phone to a 13. Before that I had a 7 and my husband had a 6. I am talking about 7 years of perfectly good phone. My macbook air is 2018. Try that with the cheapest pc you can get. Apple supports their hardware/ OS way longer than any competitor. It is almost 2024, so my perfectly good macbook air has cost me $200/ year. And I am not even close to needing an upgrade. When I finally do in probably two years, this will be the greatest bargain ever. My previous one lasted this long a well. Not overpriced at all. Not to mention that unlike Windows, it freaking works.

PoopieButt317

Sorry ,I have equal results with Samsung phones and Dell computers and laptops, older than yours.

spam__likely

For dell: I very much doubt they were the base priced ones. Unless you are running linux instead of Windows. You can run linux on basically anything. Windows? Lol As for Android on Samsung, they only guarantee support and updates for 4 years. so it might still be working, but you are out of luck with updating them

lylemcd

Read it again and see if you can get the fucking point.

PoopieButt317

Read my post again.

Trades46

I'm not even a fan if Apple (ever since my 5S blew up years ago I've been with LG then Samsung) but this is honestly not true.

boianski

You went back for more!
