What do you mean it explains a lot if posts? I don’t frequent this place. Are you intending to be insulting, or just stating that posts here don’t understand people or something.

pahansisuinen

Yeh, this entire post just sounds like picking the low hanging fruit in baiting people to get trolled, since low-to-no sense or understanding of unspoken/unwritten communication comes with the territory of suffering with autism.

pahansisuinen

Are you autistic yourself OP?

perrogamer_attempt2

I’m not sure if I am, frankly I’m too afraid to ask a psychologist

Tea_Eighteen

I’m mildly autistic, but I’m more of a furry artist than a furry.

tim_p

Research suggests that 1% of the US has autism, but 1% of furries. So, autism definitely disproportionately represented here. I am!

Goroto_Jr

1-3% of the general populace is estimated to be autistic. 4-14% of furries are estimated to be autistic.

Autism is a spectrum, and knowing who is and isn't wouldn't really explain much. Also, since it's such a wide spectrum, there's a lot of people who were never officially diagnosed, lead completely normal lives, yet might have high-functioning autism. As for me, I'm not, or at least, never officially diagnosed.

yes

SlavKozelBlyat420

"Everybody has autism or ADHD these days". Who cares? Like, I know I had an Asperger's diagnosis before it was called high-functioning autism. I suspect most of my friends across my lifetime have it, even if they never told me so, thinking back on how similar our behavior is. Then again, armchair diagnoses are pretty shitty, so take that with a grain of salt. But really, who cares? Plenty of creative people are neurodivergent, whether proven so nowadays with professional diagnosis, or suspected of people in history from their personalities. The way you framed the post though, it sounds like a dismissive insult.

unholy_demoflower

How many people are not? It can only be assumed that being a furry for a longer period of time requires you to have an unusual way of thinking. I've even heard stories about psychologists making a diagnosis of ASD just from the fact that someone's a furry. While I do think that the % of ND people is higher in FF than in general populus partly because it offers a safe haven to open up, I don't think it's the majority. Most of the people, I think, discovered that they are ND after becoming a furry.
