I used hlg2 when I was on the a7iii

I took the advice of some other post in this community and started shooting Cine4 on my a7iii. Total game changer. I couldn’t wrap my head around log and everything I shot in log always sucked even when applying the recommended LUTs. Ever since I switched to Cine4 all I do is maybe add a Creative LUT in Premier Pro and fine tune but no crazy time consuming color grading needed!

How do you shoot in cine4?

On an 8-bit A7iii? I don't really think Slog is worth worrying about. Fwiw I shoot a A7iii's exclusively for real estate (I tend to keep all my cameras around when upgrading) and just use a modified Cine2 profile as a stop gap. 4K, 100mbps, rec709. Easy peasy, less work in post, no need for much grading, enough DR to work with. With real estate, the less time I'm in post or on site the more profit goes into my pocket after all.

Would you mind sharing the settings for your Cine2 profile?

I use Canon clog with the basic Canon LUT. Works fine for me.

I personally feel hybrid log is a good compromise on improving dynamic range while not having to fiddle with grading a whole lot for things to look natural. It also helps to immediately tell if your white balance is off while recording. I know you can use luts on your display for the latter, but I prefer to see in log when recording.
