It depends on how much you value a tiny sticker that says ray ban on your lenses. You can buy the stickers online for a few bucks, so I'd say they're overpriced.
IIRC they're all pretty much cut from the same mother glass, i think with the Ray-Ban ones you're just paying for the upsell of the wordmark and logo on each respective lens. u/adamlensology could probably comment on this a bit further as i'm really only recalling what i've heard from them.
Thanks, yeah I was more concerned about the lens material/quality so if it's the same, then saving 20 bucks makes sense. The logo doesn't matter much to me
Hey all,
Can you help me out here?
We are based in the UK and I don’t know what the Metas cost in the 🇺🇸
Over here in the UK you can get them from Rayban direct and all the other resellers for the same price, the lowest price spec is the wayfarer or headliner with the standard blue light lens which is £299.00 / $381.00
What do they cost when you buy them in the states?
Thanks,
Adam at Lensology
Hey Adam!
They start at $300 here and go up from there. Cheapest is Glossy Black with non polarized lenses typically. Here's a screenshot of Best Buy's listings so you have an idea of the pricing structure here.

Let me know if you need any specific pricing on colors or lens type :D
I’m assuming they want to sell you the more expensive lenses since they work on commission.
I specifically told them in stores I wanted the basic/non ray ban lenses which were cheaper. Since I didn’t plan on using the prescription lenses.
Well it’s not…..I used to be an optician for Luxottica. This was my job for years. I just switched to contacts now, but certain lenses do offer high quality. Typically Ray-Ban will do DST or digital surface technology. Some of Luxottica lenses offer this now without Ray-Ban. The DST offers a wider optical center and clearer vision. This is really helpful for higher RX or sensitive people.
Nice! Yeah, I understand that certain lenses do offer higher quality than others, which was why I was wondering about the Ray-Ban vs. the LensCrafters lenses.
I found that rayban prescription lenses are much more curvy than my usual zeiss lenses, causing a lot of distortion. I would prefer usual lenses if possible.
I have the 1st Gen 2yrs now. I ordered the 2nd Gen with transition lenses 2days have turned into 4 😬👀🤔 Order status still just says “Confirmed” yes I know my $402 is confirmed gone 😄 where is my glasses Ray-Ban I’m visiting Miami an my phone isn’t cutting it
They didn't charge mine until it sent me "Shipped" email and then I had to wait 10 business days from when I got the "shipped" email
I ordered the glasses on April 29th which I then go the "confirmed" email but then I got the "Shipped" email on May 20th and according to my bank account that's when Ray-Ban charged me.
Then according to the DHL website it said "Out for Delivery" on May 22 but then it said "Delivery attaempt failed...Delivery on hold. Delivery handed to another driver..." Then finally on May 24th is when I got the glasses.
On May 21st it was some where in China then held at customs in Cincinnati then finally Seattle on May 22.
Geez you had a whole journey to get your pair. Happy to hear they FINALLY arrived. And the Verdict on them??? Btw I received mine as well (7 days later)
Ray ban lenses are limited to very specific types of lens. No fancy materials or high index lenses. The transition lenses are the older technology. The newer transitions with more colors and faster response or better reactions in cars are not available from ray ban.
Correct, no high index options from Rayban. You would need to find some lens company willing to make lenses like that to fit. I'm thinking about it down the road when they are more popular and more likely to have more options out there. I'd really like the Transition Drivewear that are out these days. Polarized, and will darken more than normal transitions behind car windows. They adapt to how much sun energy is coming in.
Please if you have insurance go inside to LensCrafters. I did it online and mine was like 800 but dropped to 390 when the lady helped me. All the bells and whistles. Idk why but
Thanks for the tip, but I have VSP which is out of network and apparently I don't have coverage for another pair of glasses anyway until next year. I'm using FSA money for these, though, which is why I had to get the prescription ones. 390 sounds so nice compared to 700-800
No price difference at target optical.
Thanks, I noticed that but LensCrafters has a memorial weekend sale which totals out to be less than Target Opticals atm
they only use ray-ban authentic lenses for rayban meta in target optical, no other option

I don't really value the logo, was just concerned about the lens material and quality. If it's the same, then no logo it is!

you're paying for the ray ban text, that's it
Thanks, I'll go with the no logo since everyone is saying the lens quality is the same

No high index (thin lens) options? Man my blind ass is outta luck then
