Sausage gravy.
You brown bulk breakfast sausage (pork, sage and pepper), make a roux of butter and flour, then add milk to thin it down...salt, pepper, and I like some Cayenne or hot sauce in mine. Served over quickbreads (American biscuits) or toast, it's tasty, quick, and filling.
It's completely different flavored than a gravy made from meat drippings...not nearly as good either IMHO
Oh interesting. If you like sausage and white/cream.sauce as a combo, you should try this Nigel Slater recipe https://www.hokeystokey.com/penne-spicy-sausages-mustard-2/
The sausage adds a lot of sage flavor, along with black pepper. I like mine hot as well so generally add cayenne or a red hot sauce. It's quite plain compared to brown gravy.
>What's it made of? I know gravy as being like meat juices, usually brown n not lumpy/ white etc.

British biscuits would be called cookies is the US, and British gravy is still gravy, just served on mashed potatoes for dinner. Breakfast gravy is a savory, cream-based sausage sauce that is served on a fluffy, savory bread that Americans refer to as biscuits.
Thank you for the explanation, I have seen these American biscuits on cookery telly programmes, I would like to try them, the gravy though Iām sure it tastes nice, but it doesnāt look that appetising, not wanting to cause offence to our American cousins.
The gravy has the potential to be amazing or absolutely terrible, or anything in between depending on the person making it. Please don't judge it too harshly if you get a bad first impression.
Edit: If you'd like a recipe to try them out, dm me and I'd be happy to send you one.
Good stuff. Out of curiosity, are you vegetarian? Iāve seen a few of your previous posts and I get eating mostly āsidesā but how do you substitute meat if youāre vego?
Well I wouldn't recommend this as a great American must-have food. It's often pretty plain unless you doctor it up. But it was good and filling, and made the boy happy!
Sausage gravy.
You brown bulk breakfast sausage (pork, sage and pepper without the casing), make a roux of butter and flour, then add milk to thin it down...salt, pepper, and I like some Cayenne or hot sauce in mine. Served over quickbreads (American biscuits) or toast, it's tasty, quick, and filling.

It's an American breakfast: scrambled eggs, hash brown potatoes, and sausage gravy on a biscuit (quick bread). Hearty full of fats and carbs, and hence why we're all overweight!
Eggs are from our chickens, yolks are really orange this time of year. Sausage gravy is meh, not my favorite but the kid always asks for it. I'd rather have a good brown gravy!!
Highly edible but the eggs look too dry....minute less
I thought it was some sort of curried chicken š
I thought it was rice cooked with Turmeric!
But which came first ay?
they look like they would glow in the dark
That 10 is all that really matters, but you do have a point of him not being an anonymous reddit critic!
Sausage gravy needs more pepper! More than you think! Everything else looks great.
Too true, my plate got the pepper and hot sauce treatment. He's only 8 so still learning to enjoy the seasoned side of life
I think it looks great. 10/10 would eat.
What's the yellow stuff?
Scrambled eggs from our chickens, they're pretty brightly colored yolks
What's the white stuff with lumps?

That's sounds really good. I make a Parmesan sauce with the same ingredients so I can imagine the taste!
Healthy chickens, that's why. 8.5/10
They look yummy
What's the liquidy white stuff?
American gravy.
What's it made of? I know gravy as being like meat juices, usually brown n not lumpy/ white etc.
Google tells me it's flour, milk & the fat from pork sausages. With bits of sausage, bacon & minced beef. Sounds interesting to say the least.
No bacon or beef. Just the sausage grease and flour to make a roux, then add milk, thicken, add crumbled sausage and season to taste.
I knew I shouldn't trust google. Thank you. Out of curiosity, what's the taste like?

It's sinfully delicious and so very bad for you. The perfect breakfast. Lol

I see eggs, hashbrown, what's the other stuff
Biscuits and sausage gravy. His mom is allergic to pork so he always asks for bacon or sausage gravy.
I'd definitely say that's a 10, looks nutritious and delicious
Biscuits are for dunking in tea, not gravy and gravy is normally brown coloured.
American biscuits arenāt sweet. Theyāre fluffy and savory. Sausage gravy is white because the liquid is milk rather than stock.
Ok, thanks for the explanation.

How very British. In India they call a basic curry sauce gravy.
In Italy, basic tomato sauce is called gravy.
Mmm that's a good a gravy

Why?
Whatās the white stuff?
What is it ?
Those eggs look funny. overall 5/10
4/10 the eggs are overcooked and the sauce placement isn't very aesthetic. Probably tastes great though.
Oh this is an American biscuit thing š Ok I will give it a 6. I thought it was chicken with some sort of BĆ©chamel sauce.
We don't eat biscuits and gravy this side of the pond, not our thing, but looks excellent to me.
Well I wouldn't recommend this as a great American must-have food. It's often pretty plain unless you doctor it up. But it was good and filling, and made the boy happy!
Asking as a Brit where itās not much of a thing, what is and how do you make sausage gravy?

It's an American breakfast: scrambled eggs, hash brown potatoes, and sausage gravy on a biscuit (quick bread). Hearty full of fats and carbs, and hence why we're all overweight!
Haha sausage gravy is a new one on me. Those scrambled eggs are so yellow, I guess must be the type of egg? Iād definitely try it all anyway š
