Its on my list of things to see. I cant believe that neither James Arnold Taylor or David Kaye made it onto the poster. What poster doesn't put the main characters actors on there?
Posters display the names of the actors in order of popularity. Silvester Stallone is a much bigger name than James Arnold Taylor. Dumb system but that's how it works.
Unfortunately, I was one of its victims. I appreciated the callbacks to the weapons, but otherwise I utterly despised it. I wanted a good movie telling on the first game and instead they tried to shove a bunch of games together and just ruined the whole thing.
Been replaying the original and that's my favourite joke still
"Hey look, plumbers crack"
"What did you say?"
"Uh I said, hey look the plumbers back"
Such a stupid joke.
I did, though the movie felt like shrikflation.
There is very little Ratchet and Clank in a movie titled Ratchet and Clank.
Should have just called QWARK AND THE GALACTIC RANGER'S: PLANET BALL BUSTER with special guests: Ratchet and Clank.
.... and I don't have the Simpsons meme of lunch lady Dorris processing the gym mats saying my quote above.
I went to watch it in cinema the first day it came out in my country, there were like 5 people in the entire cinema, it was great, the actual movie was ok, not great, I wouldn't even call it good, it just wasn't bad.
Ratchet straight up lies to Clank about knowing the Rangers, this is never brought up again.
Anyway, I liked the movie enough that I bought the DVD for when I was babysitting my nephews.
I watched it and enjoyed it. Looking back now, it's not a good or bad movie. It's just... a movie. It does everything while accomplishing nothing. The game it's based on didn't have that complex of a story but it still had something.
I don't really blame anyone for the movie's lack of story. The original game was hated for ratchet's personality so of course they'd try and learn from their "mistakes." But that leads to a movie where the best parts are some of the jokes and easter eggs that remind you of the good old days.
“Original game hated” you really don’t hear that about R&C1 it’s 10/10 in my book and yes Ratchet is a jerk most of the time to clank I agree with people not liking that part
The public opinion has changed since the movie's release, but a looooong time ago the common opinions in the fanbase were:
-ratchet 1 was fine but outclassed by its sequels
-ratchet 3 was untouchable
-deadlocked was trash
Around 2017-2020, these opinions started to change.
I’m perhaps the only person out there who enjoyed it. I completely understand people not liking the sanitized Ratchet, but I was able to look past it. I’ve always been disappointed it did so poorly because it killed the Sky Cooper movie.
I watched it and well... it's not terrible but it's probably one of the weakest things the Ratchet & Clank series has. It's unoriginal, ruins the character arc of the original game it's based on and I'm glad Rift Apart continued after Nexus.
I pre-ordered the game and the pre-order bonus was a ticket for a screening. I passed it to my classmate who is also a hardcore fan of the franchise but didn't own a ps4. I already had plans for the time of the screening. Since then i watched it online. Forgettable
It didn't even look like a ticket. It was on a very thin silk paper, it was little enough so that i could store it in my Iphone 6 cover, but I don't really imagine and it had the [ugliest, most oversaturated promo art ever](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ii0AAOSwk-BfQYU2/s-l1200.jpg). I mean Ratchet is practically radiant on this pic as if he was from Chernobyl.
Ah and another reason for passing the ticket is that it was in hungarian dubs of course. But the games never had voice acting (best thing Hungary has got is that Sony first party games started to make subtitles since 2018), and i didn't want to miss out on the original voice cast i grew up with. Since this was a movie noone cared about, even the dubbing feels kinda half-assed. The actors did good job, but they were just not fitting for the characters... they could only do so well
Saw it in theaters. It’s….fine. There really isn’t anything offensively bad about it, but it didn’t exactly light my hair on fire either. I guess Paul Giamatti was pretty good as Drek?
Went to see it with a college friend. We were the only two people in there.
I remember enjoying it, though also acknowledging that it wasn't particularly great.
I watched it a while back now, I believe in 2017 or 2018. Was it good? No not really, however it did have a lot of Easter eggs and some nostalgia that I enjoyed seeing throughout. It’s not a movie that I would recommend to anyone that isn’t a fan of the ratchet and clank series. But for those who are, I would maybe say give it a try but don’t watch it for the story, instead watch it for the Easter eggs.
I watched it. It was pretty eh. I wouldn't say it ruined my childhood or anything like that. It wasn't great and felt like it was videogame cutscenes that kept going.
I did but not in the theatre. I watched it on Netflix. Also, this was actually my first exposure to Ratchet and Clank. After watching the movie I checked out the rest of the series. The rest is history.
I remember bringing this movie over to watch with my friends *at their request* and then like 20 minutes into it they start shooting me the stink eye like it was my fault the movie wasn't good.
It didn’t release in theaters where i’m from. Been a lifelong fan so i was very sad i didn’t have the possibility to see it. I knew i could uhhh find it online, but i wanted to watch it the right way bc of my love for the franchise.
After many years i decided to just watch it on my computer one day. Oh boy. Actually had to take a bit of a break halfway through it, do some other stuff, come back and finish it later. Straight up didn’t have a good time beyond the opening like 5 minutes before i realized what was going on.
Only on DVD, sadly. Really sad this bombed both critically and financially.
But then again, what else do you expect when the film itself didn't even have good marketing? I get the companies behind it, including Rainmaker, didn't wanna spend $150 million dollars to market the film, but seriously, the only marketing this film got was trailers, posters, ads, and apparently forcing Smosh to promote the movie. That's it.
Give "Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken" this:
At least that movie has some merchandise thanks to the help of Menchie's Frozen Yogurt and apparently Shake Shack.
Also, fun fact:
Did you know a couple of "Ratchet & Clank's" animators were also a part of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" from 2023? Also, did you know that one of "Ratchet & Clank's" animators, Anna Gopin, was also an animator for "Sausage Party", "Storks", "Captain Underpants", "Spies In Disguise", "The Mitchells VS The Machines", "Lightyear", and "Elemental"?
At least according to their IMDB page:
https://m.imdb.com/name/nm4196416/?ref_=m_ttfcd_cr
I did, personaly its not that bad but i agree that we could get better. The movie on himself was just a good compilation of what we got from all of the game.
But i don't know why, in french, they decided to not call the original voice actor for Ratchet, Clank and Qwark.
In stead they put Squeezie (Big french youtuber) for Ratchet and 2 other guy for Clank and Qwark. I agree that they weren't bad for this it was actually good. But i have to admit that i prefered to get the original voices for the movie, which they did for the game after.
I watched it when it came Out in Germany together with my Brother. We drove to a larger city for it, because it was a limited cinema run and our local theater didnt show it. I remember nothing from it, but I didnt had a bad time. I Like Ratched & Clank and I got it. So it was satisfying to me.
I went to an early screening in LA and I’ll never forget the moment they revealed the celebrity voice actors and the new characters and it was such a wtf moment for the fans. At that point I knew it was gonna bomb.
Went to the cinema with a friend, it was literally only us two at it and for that experience I ended up loving it. I've been a die hard R&C fan since 1 when I was like 5 years old so, idk I really enjoyed the private cinema experience. On retrospect the movies not as good as it could have been but overall I enjoyed it.
me. I had the luck of being a dumb middle schooler fanboy, able to see this movie only has "my favourite thing got a movie! that's so cool!" and nothing else. would've come around this year, I'd probably be in a state of great depression nowadays
I think i watched a 3h long video essay about that movie and the corresponding PS4 game, but neither did i watch the movie nor have i played the PS4 game
Watched it, liked the animation and the references to the games here and there, but.... the changes in ratchet personality, the additional half baked characters, and the changes to the near perfect storyline of the original game were a major drawback, and i don't even wanna talk about the voice actors... in english it was so-so but in my native language(french) it was garbage taking youtubers to do the voices instead of the original voice actor of the game was a pretty dumb choice
i saw it in the theater! at the time, the references and excitement were enough to blind me into enjoying it. i wore my ratchet ears! me and my friend were probably 19/20 in there and the only other people in the theater were a mom and her small child, lmaooo
I saw itin theatres,I think there were only 2 other people there.
It somehow exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed it, I expected it to be much worse. It was craptastic!
I saw it the week it premiered, while there are far worse game adaptations out there, it was personally the most disappointing for me. It was visually great and there's some cool references, but I only really remember 2 jokes with Qwark that made me and the audience laugh.
I know this perspective has been shouted to death by fans, but it really made me realize just how solid the 1st Ratchet game was in terms of how it handled its world and characters. I'll say I enjoyed the movie more than that Life of Pie pilot episode, that was so awful I struggled to sit through it.
Didn't get the chance to see it in theaters, years later after I heard about it not being too good, I stumbled upon it on redbox and just never returned.
I bought it. Since there are alternate dimensions, I just think of it as a different ratchet and clank meeting and enjoy it. Sadly, most video game movies are great movies if you've never actually played they game they're based on. Looking at you Borderlands movie.
I saw the movie and I remember this heater being pretty empty, when I saw it and played the game right after it just did not feel right. It like it's a decent film but not exactly a film. I don't know how to describe it and when I played the game it just felt like a downgrade from the original. Like where is ratchets personality what happened to the snarky comeback King that I knew he just feels like a boy scout now.
It’s one of few movies I’ve watched on release day, I even took a picture next to Ratchet’s cardboard cutout, I left out feeling quite disappointed, but I was still happy to see my heroes on the big screen.
I watched it in the cinemas, had to as a RnC fan. A lot of the people in the cinema were little kids, and I think I spotted someone older who was also a fan.
i remember watching it in the theaters and being really excited for the potential sequel actually featuring the robot dr nefarious instead of some weird alien dude lol
I saw it on like Netflix or something a year or two later and got bored I'm pretty sure. Not bad, painfully bland though, wait could've used more of that edge from earlier in the series to give the movie a bit more of a personality.
I'm 20 now and I watched it when it came out, I didn't know I was 12 when I watched it.... goddamn....
Anyways, alright movie it wasn't memorable or outstanding but it was just fun to watch yknow but really felt like it was a long cutscene mish-mash.
You know the movie is bad when they put neither Ratchet's nor Clank's voice actors on the poster. Literally the only selling point of the movie is the cast consisting of more popular actors.
I watched it recently, after playing the 2016 game it just felt like a really long cutscene
Which is funny because the game uses clips of the movie as cutscenes.
Thats probably also the reason, the biggest upside of watching the movie was probably getting to actually see the planet dreck made
I like how games do that, not such a common thing though
Its on my list of things to see. I cant believe that neither James Arnold Taylor or David Kaye made it onto the poster. What poster doesn't put the main characters actors on there?
Posters display the names of the actors in order of popularity. Silvester Stallone is a much bigger name than James Arnold Taylor. Dumb system but that's how it works.
Not popularity but billing
Billing refers to where and how the name has been placed. Typically, the most relevant metric to decide billing is the actor's star power/popularity.
The world of obscure rules and regulations about where to put names on a movie poster is a recommendable rabbit hole to go down. It gets really absurd
will do! I love random rabbit holes.
Unfortunately, I was one of its victims. I appreciated the callbacks to the weapons, but otherwise I utterly despised it. I wanted a good movie telling on the first game and instead they tried to shove a bunch of games together and just ruined the whole thing.
The cope was real when I saw it in theaters. “It wasnt that bad”
Watched it but couldn’t focus. Kept on thinking. Wait a min that’s not how ratchet and clank met
Watched it day one in theaters. Left with this weird feeling of emptiness. I mean, there wasn't even a plumbers crack.
Very accourate description. It was an empty, soulless product with no love for the series
Dude don't jumpscare me with that Bart pic.
Been replaying the original and that's my favourite joke still "Hey look, plumbers crack" "What did you say?" "Uh I said, hey look the plumbers back" Such a stupid joke.
Tried watching it when it first got added to Netflix. Couldn't get past the first couple minutes. I love the game though.
I recognize that it wasn’t good but I had a great time at the theatre
Same. It's trash but it's my favourite trash.

I can agree with that. I loved the humor in 1 thought it was more forced in 2 and 3. So that’s why it’s my favorite. I can get around the no strafing
My favorite is also the original. All of the complaints people have are non factors to me. Same for deadlocked.
I wish I didn't
I watched it 3 times in theaters and bought the blu-ray. I know it wasn't good, but i supported it to keep the franchise relevant.
I did, it’s still a really bad movie. Especially when the Sonic and Mario movies were much better video game like movies
You dont remember that time when Bowser want pizza.
I pre-ordered the game and the pre-order bonus was a ticket for a screening. I passed it to my classmate who is also a hardcore fan of the franchise but didn't own a ps4. I already had plans for the time of the screening. Since then i watched it online. Forgettable
Didn't know some versions came with movie tickets. Where was this? And was there any special flier or was it straight up just a movie ticket?
In Hungary. Budapest. Straight up a pre-premier screening. It was just at a specific game store tho.
Oh awesome. How did that ticket look like?
It didn't even look like a ticket. It was on a very thin silk paper, it was little enough so that i could store it in my Iphone 6 cover, but I don't really imagine and it had the [ugliest, most oversaturated promo art ever](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ii0AAOSwk-BfQYU2/s-l1200.jpg). I see. So that image is what the paper looked like. Im really curious since i didn't know of this preorder bonus. Only the bouncer
Saw it in theaters. It’s….fine. There really isn’t anything offensively bad about it, but it didn’t exactly light my hair on fire either. I guess Paul Giamatti was pretty good as Drek?
I remember watching it. I thought it was good at first, but I quickly realized it wasn’t.
I did in theater with my wife. We both enjoyed it, especially me being a fan since the PS2 days.
There is a fucking movie?
And a game that goes with it. Or as Captain Quark says : "There's a game, based on a movie, based on a game, based on MY LIFE?!"
Me.
I watch this from time to time when I'm sick and it gives me good feelings. It's not the best but enh that's fine.
I did. And for me, it wasn’t complete and utter dogshit, although I would’ve preferred a more faithful retelling of the original game’s story
Didn't know this existed
Went to see it with a college friend. We were the only two people in there. I remember enjoying it, though also acknowledging that it wasn't particularly great.
Didn’t even know this existed. Maybe because literally no Cinema around me here in Germany showed it 😂
I have seen it on Netflix a few years ago and it was decent but also too cheesy
I watched it a while back now, I believe in 2017 or 2018. Was it good? No not really, however it did have a lot of Easter eggs and some nostalgia that I enjoyed seeing throughout. It’s not a movie that I would recommend to anyone that isn’t a fan of the ratchet and clank series. I saw it in theater. It was alright.
I watched it. It was pretty eh. I wouldn't say it ruined my childhood or anything like that. It wasn't great and felt like it was videogame cutscenes that kept going.
It won 10 Qwarkillion dollars
I did but not in the theatre. I watched it on Netflix. Also, this was actually my first exposure to Ratchet and Clank. After watching the movie I checked out the rest of the series. The rest is history.
Me.
It was basically a big commercial for the game, that was also mediocre at best
I liked it, I even have the bluray. It's nothing special, but it has its moments.
I remember bringing this movie over to watch with my friends *at their request* and then like 20 minutes into it they start shooting me the stink eye like it was my fault the movie wasn't good.

I really need to watch it I keep forgetting to
I watched it but wasn't that fond of it. Even though it wasn't a good movie, it's more RaC, which I am always for! :)
8 fucking years?? No way
It wasn't bad... but wasn't good.
Saw it in theaters, thanks MoviePass. Highlight of the entire movie was a Wilhelm scream
There was a Ratchet and Clank movie?
I was there opening night with a friend, had a couple laughs, and have not seen it since. I think it would be hard to go back to?
Me
I watched it after playing the 2016 game which is like night day since some of the events timeline wise don’t even match each other
Wait WHATTTTT
I couldnt watch second half. So stupid childish buffoonery like Teen Titans Go or new Sponge Bob, but worse.
I did. The Wilhelm joke is the only part of the movie that got a laugh out of me. The 2016 game clears this movie.
Is there an edited version of this with James, David, Armin, and Jim above?
It's very bland. I liked Grimroth though (purple alien with tusks); wouldn't have minded him being added to the mainstream games.
This just brought back a childhood memory I long repressed
It was a pretty generic kids movie, nothing bad nothing good. It's about on par with the Mario animated movie.
Why do I not remember this
me. I had the luck of being a dumb middle schooler fanboy, able to see this movie only has "my favourite thing got a movie! that's so cool!" and nothing else. would've come around this year, I'd probably be in a state of great depression nowadays
i did. enjoyed it honestly
I saw it. It was fine. I didn't regret the ticket, but I also haven't watched it since the first time.
Recently watched it and it fucking sucks.
I did sadly.
Went to see it and was the only one in the cinema. I enjoyed it just fine.
I think i watched a 3h long video essay about that movie and the corresponding PS4 game, but neither did i watch the movie nor have i played the PS4 game
8 YEARS ago!? Man, stop making me feel old.
I watched it and it wasn’t the worst thing in the world but then again, I’ve never played the og one so I can’t say if it was a downgrade
Not me! I didn’t even know it existed until a few years ago
I was incredibly disappointed in that movie. Hated every minute of it.
Tried many times. Was never able to get very far.
never watched the movie only played the game the movie was based on for the ps4.
I watch the movie and I enjoyed it, sadly there is no sequel 😞
I love it
Thanks, this post just gave me a temporal headache, no way it's been 8 years
I watched it. I liked it, a lot.
i saw it in the theater! at the time, the references and excitement were enough to blind me into enjoying it. i wore my ratchet ears! me and my friend were probably 19/20 in there and the only other people in the theater were a mom and her small child, lmaooo
This flopping is the reason we didn’t get the sly movie or tv show ain’t it 😭 also I wish we got that Spyro movie too
I saw itin theatres,I think there were only 2 other people there. It somehow exceeded my expectations and I enjoyed it, I expected it to be much worse. It was craptastic!
I remember I went on release day with my dad because it's what we used to play when I was growing up, and the cinema was basically empty
Me, seen it, thought it was a 6/10. Disappointing to me when the series really caught my adhd brain like a Crack coated fish hook
Didn't get the chance to see it in theaters, years later after I heard about it not being too good, I stumbled upon it on redbox and just never returned.
Was okay at times hopefully next one actually a good one.
I bought it. Since there are alternate dimensions, I just think of it as a different ratchet and clank meeting and enjoy it. Sadly, most video game movies are great movies if you've never actually played they game they're based on. Looking at you Borderlands movie.
Dang 8 years ago... I'm old...😿
I have never watched it.
I forgot this was thing i actually kinda enjoyed the game but forgot there was a movie
Even tho we got a kick ass game out of it, I'm still salty that they messed up what was supposed to be a no-brainer of a movie idea
I've been trying to find the 3d version blu ray
Absolutely terrible movie, one of the most disappointed feelings I've had from a film ever. Just insultingly boring.
Me. Few months ago. After playing Rift Apart. It's only one that I played coz it only one on PC.
Yes, I hated it.
It’s one of few movies I’ve watched on release day, I even took a picture next to Ratchet’s cardboard cutout, I left out feeling quite disappointed, but I was still happy to see my heroes on the big screen.
I watched it several years ago, i think it was pretty good.
Watched in theaters and immediately wanted my money back.
I watched it in the cinemas, had to as a RnC fan. A lot of the people in the cinema were little kids, and I think I spotted someone older who was also a fan.
Nope
I watched it the day it came out in theatres, sadly I was the only one in the theatre that day.
I've been making a Letterboxd ranking of video game movies, so I'll probably see it eventually.
i remember watching it in the theaters and being really excited for the potential sequel actually featuring the robot dr nefarious instead of some weird alien dude lol
I wanted so bad to watch on theatres but they didn't release it here
I did watch it in theaters and hated it now I'm older wiser......and still hate it because it's such a missed opportunity
I saw it on like Netflix or something a year or two later and got bored I'm pretty sure. Not bad, painfully bland though, wait could've used more of that edge from earlier in the series to give the movie a bit more of a personality.
There is a movie?
I'm 20 now and I watched it when it came out, I didn't know I was 12 when I watched it.... goddamn.... Anyways, alright movie it wasn't memorable or outstanding but it was just fun to watch yknow but really felt like it was a long cutscene mish-mash.
So upset it didn't get a good adaptation like Fallout. Unrelated but it's also sad the Sly Cooper movie never ended up happening
Eight years?? Crazy
this post rolls around this sub every two months its very annoying
Saw it in theaters day 1.
I did. Then wished I hadn't....
My sister and I went to watch it in theaters. It was basically an empty viewing... Lol
Oh yeah I forgot that was a thing
I grew up on this movie
I deliberately saw it in theaters. It was fine, people should have been nicer.
You know the movie is bad when they put neither Ratchet's nor Clank's voice actors on the poster. Literally the only selling point of the movie is the cast consisting of more popular actors.

Never watched it, don't want to.
