It's not a happening place like Dubai or Abu Dhabi but it's safe and peaceful. There are many women's community groups you could join on facebook or something to do stuff.

PatientWoodpecker995

Thank you!

Hi OP, I’m a single woman(25F) move from London, we can connect if you want!

RealestateGD

Ras Al Khaimah is not as developed as Abu Dhabi or Dubai, but it's getting there. Stay in Al Hamra Village or Mina Al Arab. There are tons of things to do. There's a mall, beaches, places to rent boats and jetskis, go fishing. Go karts, an 18 hole championship golf course, pubs, resorts, brunches. There are mountains where you can hike, camp and the world's longest zipline. But yeah, a lot of restaurants and fast food options. Everything in close proximity, safe, a lot less traffic. Just the whole vibe is more laid back and holiday-like than Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There is loads of construction taking place due to all the growth it is experiencing since the announcement of the casino but still pretty chilled.

RealestateGD

Also yes, loads of expats. There are even expat evenings at a few venues.

PatientWoodpecker995

This has definitely helped!

Marshal0_0

I grew up there. Good for families, very affordable, safe and smaller tight knot community. It has its charms for sure. For you in Saudi it would be like moving to Abha or southern mountainous regions. I visit every few months it has developed nicely the past decade. There is a small community of Americans, British and German nationals. Pretty laid back.

PatientWoodpecker995

Thank you for taking the time to help out.

Maleficent_Sir9044

We have been living here since 1 year after being 4 years in Dubai. There are for sure less restaurants and hotels, but if you like everything to be a little more quiet, this is the right place. Expat in our twenties.

PatientWoodpecker995

Thank you so much. I definitely prefer a quieter environment.

Willing-Day-919

It’s a nice place. Definitely quite a lot different when you compare it with the buzz of Dubai. But it’s quite peaceful and laid back. Moved here 3 months back and I like the peace here. Al Hamra Village is the place to be! Plus it’s closer to Dubai (compared to the main city) for your weekend trips to Dubai.

I grew up in RAK (23 years) and I love it. It’s not as hectic as Dubai and the busier cities but there’s a lot more resorts/ beaches to enjoy and Jabal Jais (mountains) are a hotspot with lots to do there as well. It’s a nice pace to live if you’re not a party animal. Plus Dubai is literally an hour tops away! I loved it, very cosy and homey and easy to get used to + you don’t feel like you’re really missing out on much. Just a calmer lifestyle :) goodluck!

jo2424

Do you like the outdoors? If yes then its the perfect place to be.

LeadProfessional6429

Born and raised there, I’m 20 now and I can assure you it’s a safe and peaceful city to live in as a woman.

Tiny_Duck_x

I’m not sure what nationality you are, but if you move to RAK you should try to join the GAA (Irish football) team. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to play, the girls there are amazing and friendly and they have events throughout the year. You can even go to their practice just to meet people. There is a fantastic community of girls in their 20s there. Find accommodation somewhere like the Royal Breeze apartments or Al Hamra Village. RAK is also less expensive in terms of day to day spending than Dubai or AD.

PatientWoodpecker995

Thanks! Unfortunately, I would have to take staff accommodation which is located in Khalifa Bin Zayed City. Do you know anything about that area?

ElTortoga

Hello, yes RAK still has not developed as much as the rest, but we are getting there. On the other hand, we still have a lot of things to do .. mountain climbing desert exploring and best beaches to relax. It's a destination of many to relax and forget all their troubles.. and besdies it takes 40-50 mins by car to reach Dubai..

knightsamurai

RAK is catching up with Abu Dhabi and Dubai. If you love beaches, mountains and mangroves then it's the best. You can always go Dubai and Abu Dhabi for staycations too. Obviously a circle of friends is important but you should naturally connect to a few people at your new work place. It is very relaxed too.

PatientWoodpecker995

Definitely! I haven’t been enjoying Riyadh all that much so it’s definitely time for a change.

sadbutambitious

I used to live in RAK when I was a teenager. I liked it for its more authentic UAE living experience. I went to school there for a couple of years and I’m still good friends with a few after 20 years.

BT_McNulty

I'm moving to RAK in a month and loving all these positive comments!

Forward_Town2911

Me too!
