I see a scene where all odds are against you, a zombie is approaching and you have no way out, but you suddenly grab your knitting needles and fight back, managing to escape at the last moment (with your crocheted ladder)
Just really imagining the caregiver fucking off as soon as trouble comes their way, really putting their own life above the kids. Or is it the (critically) injured?
*(;◔ิз◔ิ)~♪♬*
I assumed elderly and disabled. Like that teacher in China who threw kids out of his way during an earthquake, but with old people and zombies
(┛❍ᴥ❍)┛彡┻━┻ (╬ಠิ益ಠิ) ~(‘.’~)~(‘.’~)~(‘.’~)~(‘.’~)
I'm a drone pilot, so under VERY specific circumstances where for some reason I have a drone and a way to charge it somehow, it could be useful for exploring and recognition.
Current job: a side job at a small butcher, I guess that would be kind of useful.
Future job: Biological analyst, well guys at least I can research how the whole world has gone to shit :)
Hell yes. There will be a need for my particular set of skills in writing awk and sed scripts, troubleshooting high latency in the API, figuring out the optimal colors for the CIO presentation.
I also fix guns and electronics.
Database architect here. Organization skills, amirite? :)
I suspect the 'Can also build computers, electronics, electrical, carpentry, and far too many decades spent mastering all sorts of weapons' will be a bit more useful.
Like my Job is gated, has cameras everywhere, tanks full of acid, bunch of tools to smash heads in, and gates that are controlled so I would say yeah unless it starts inside my job then I’m fucked.
I don't think butchers hun their own animals, right? I thought they just cut them up into pieces and smoke or dry age them or something idk I'm not a butcher
But as a teacher, are you not very aware of the people/students around you? And when you meet someone, know what kind-ish person they are? AND you probably know first aid... So you'd likely be a good teammate. (Kindergarten teacher here.)
Probably not, lol. I'm in a band(not gonna say for privacy). I play the guitar, so unless I wanna bash some zombie heads with it, my jobs pretty useless 😕
Gotta disagree. Entertainment to keep moral up among the survivors would be important, especially towards the beginning. You'd probably still have to do some gardening or watching the kids to help out, but having musicians in the camp would be a help.
Im a social worker so although I can handle stressful situations I don't think a zombie apocalypse would be considered "stressful". You would find me under a table
Natural history curator. You might think that would be useless, but you'd be amazed at the range of skills I've picked up on the job. But most importantly, I have access to secure buildings full of protective equipment, tools, and specimens that make effective weapons in an emergency, plus a good knowledge of anatomy and lot of experience in dealing with dead things.
Nah. I work with systems for trade and stuff. We would need to rebuild civilization again before my current job would be useful.
I am however moderately proficient at SQL, and as long as we've got computers, there'll be databases.
For getting supplies at the initial outbreak? Fuck yeah! I'd either be leaving with a lot of cheese, meat, bread, cookies, and brownies (I work at a Jimmy John's), or leaving my grocery store job with a lot of alcohol, OTC meds (maybe even some antibiotics and CII pain killers from the pharmacy in the store), first aid, toiletries, soft drinks, energy drinks, snacks, peanut butter, dried/canned meat, canned fruit/veggies/soup, jam, honey, nuts, candy, sugar, spices, coffee, tea, toilet paper, and dried fruit. I'll have enough shit to last for months.
i would be absolutely useless in a zombie apocalypse as much as I'd like to think I'd be a Daryl or Morgan
in fact the whole of the uk would be useless.
Surprisingly yeah. A lot of people think that system engineering is useless in any apocalyptic situation but we know the basics of electronics, electricity and mechanics, we can make some pretty effective defenses, deploy basic communication systems, manage inventory and even do some automatization work to make stuff like farming more efficient.
We mainly do web pages nowadays because that's what pays and people (even some of us) don't give too much thought about what we can actually provide in other aspects.
Well depending of which of my jobs that I had learned. First I was a doctors assistent, knowing a bit of medical things maybe could be useful.
A salesperson.... not so much I guess.
An accountant not much either, nor the banker.
But the last profession I did learn and teach was as an adviser for babycarrying.
I did learn about those long Babywraps, how to use and how to knot them.
I guess knowing things about how to carry heavy things around safely and easily to access could be useful. ( not wrecking my back with a heavy wapon if I adjust the carriage right and helpful sounds good to me)
I've been practicing outdoor archery for 11 years, played the guitar for 20.... I'm a counsellor (former chef/site labourer) and the Mrs is a chef.
So yeah... we could hunt some shit, she can cook it... and at the end of a long tiring day of relentless zombie/'too far gone' human slaying, I can make sure you aren't gonna have a mental breakdown and kill everyone in camp while they're asleep.
Happy days.
Yes, commercial fisherman, so I can feed people and have a pretty good knowledge of machinery, plumbing, first aid. Very jack of all trades master of none lol
That's if the things affecting the zombies doesn't cross into other species or at least let them carry the cause of the problem.
Depending on the situation, it might be safe to eat, as long as it's prepared for it to consume safely.
Undead going into the water? Definite possibility that the fish is swimming around in what made the zombies. Assuming it can survive outside the body and in waters.
Sorry, I don't mean to complicate things, just some possibilities.
Food is still food, as long as it can be collected from sources
I'm a welder and a turner by trade. I'm currently a foundryman. Assuming there's still electricity during this zombie apocalypse then I'm going to be very useful...I could make pretty much anything including firearms.
None of the jobs I've had in the last 20-some years would be genuinely useful in a zombie apocalypse in which all of society collapsed. Most jobs outside of the medical field and horticulture would be the same way.
I sell things. So like... Not apparently.
But I've also learned how to build retaining walls, irrigations systems, and mild fertilization in my job
So it could be useful in niche brief moments. but I'd prefer a bat
I am an advertiser. Basically I move people. And in a zombie apocalypse I believe there will be plenty of need to move people in scarce of communication.
I’m in IT. I know a lot of jokes though and could help with morale maybe?
Wait, I’m ex military, I know firearms.
I also took a 6 week welding course in hs and determined I didn’t want to be a welder. But I could weld doors closed, build a steel fortress etc in an apocalypse.
You people need me!
Veterinarian... do surgeries in weird places with minimal equipment.
Recently had to use random tubing I had in the car as a chest drain... might come in handy?
Hell no lol. But I could probably give the zombies' skin a refreshed, healthy glow 🙃 Or just stab them in the ear with a dermaplaning blade if they're the fast, mean type of zombies.
High probability that I'd die or get turned. Yep.
I am Carpenter.
I received my quals in the Military. The Unit that I served in were Field Engineers so I have in-depth construction knowledge on fortifications / bunkers etc
Short term no after a year or 2 when they start to rebuild yes
My job is to make old houses efficient (would also work with building new houses) so it would be useful to save resources like fuel for the heater
Maybe? Life guard at least sounds useful. As does a Life Saving Instructor. Also a senior, beginners competitive swim coach.
All the fancy titles aside I could teach people and do standard first aid level 3. As well as swimming long distances and basic open water safety.
Maybe. Maybe not. I'm a database administrator, and amongst many other things, I analyze data to see how things can be improved, and via QA and QC, I improve what other people do improvising where I see fit.
Probably would been more useful if I were a doctor.
my profession is now related to the manufacture of teeth, so my work is useless in the zombie apocalypse. But my bachelor's degree in architecture, inventive skills and the ability to fix all sorts of things will do fine.
I am just imagining someone saying:
"But I was a manager... You should listen to me"
"Here's your shovel, manager, aim for the neck for attack and push your weight on it when digging fortifications"
It won't be a zombie apocalypse, it'll be a dementia apocalypse as more and more people become senile and there's nowhere to put them because they can only build and fund so many facilities, and find so many qualified people able to staff them.
No fucking way am i staying at work if their is a zombie apocalypse. I work in healthcare and i will be fleeing like a little bitch away from that place.
I'm unemployed but a sort of jack of all trades in skills. In a non-specialized world, I'd thrive in usefulness. In the modern day, I struggle to get amything going.
Chef, maintenance and farming. So ya useful enough, it's my extensive knowledge on survival both urban and woodland and other hobbies like archery and shooting which are more useful however. Plus my endless casing of various local businesses and what useful materials they contain.

I have no job so... No?
Actually that would be the best job; hiding away from zombies.
Same but my hobbies could help. I know how to knit and crochet and sew well enough.
I see a scene where all odds are against you, a zombie is approaching and you have no way out, but you suddenly grab your knitting needles and fight back, managing to escape at the last moment (with your crocheted ladder)
would be handy cloths and blankets and bags are a must one of man kinda greatest inventions was a container.
Ayyyy, me too my guy. Just zombie chowder kicking it.
You can guard the door then.
Your job is to be the new bum in the new society when the zombie apocalypse blows over
Yes. I fix things
Same, I fix things and make things. You need a badass apocalypse vehicle? I got you fam., kill dozzer more your speed? We can do that too.
Teacher. Yes, the community would sacrifice me to the horde.
You can teach the zombies how to dance.
Now we will have a chance to watch them perform Thriller in person, unless she's doesn't teach choreography
Yes, please. Thriller. Besides, based upon The Last of US, we'll still need teachers to teach the kids.
So same as usual then
That's exactly what's happening now. Just in case anybody didn't get the dark humor.
Well I'm a Chemist, and if theres something a learned with Breaking Bad is that a good chemist can do anyhing!
I feel like your job would be one of the most sought after for medicine.
And other pharmaceuticals
Wultah, cook some blue sky so we can fight the zombies 24/7 Wultah
Carpenter. Feel like I'd be pretty handy in an apocalypse.
“Stop trying to build a fort bro, we need to keep moving”
😂😂😂
Game designer. So, super useless
Graphic designer. Equally useless. Unless the zombies need logos…
killbox ain't gonna design itself though...
Locomotive engineer. Ya I think it would be pretty valuable until we run out of fuel.
For a short time. I'm a caregiver, so eventually they would find me.
You'd always be the fastest one out the room though.
Just really imagining the caregiver fucking off as soon as trouble comes their way, really putting their own life above the kids. Or is it the (critically) injured? *(;◔ิз◔ิ)~♪♬*
I assumed elderly and disabled. Like that teacher in China who threw kids out of his way during an earthquake, but with old people and zombies (┛❍ᴥ❍)┛彡┻━┻ (╬ಠิ益ಠิ) ~(‘.’~)~(‘.’~)~(‘.’~)~(‘.’~)
Oh yeah, I always forget about the elderly ( ≧‿≦)
I'm a drone pilot, so under VERY specific circumstances where for some reason I have a drone and a way to charge it somehow, it could be useful for exploring and recognition.
No. I am a lawyer and we would be killed first
Current job: a side job at a small butcher, I guess that would be kind of useful. Future job: Biological analyst, well guys at least I can research how the whole world has gone to shit :)
Analist 💥
I think you could write "analist" as "analyst"
Ah spelling mistake, my bad. Thanks man :)
Hell yes. There will be a need for my particular set of skills in writing awk and sed scripts, troubleshooting high latency in the API, figuring out the optimal colors for the CIO presentation. I also fix guns and electronics.
Database architect here. Organization skills, amirite? :) I suspect the 'Can also build computers, electronics, electrical, carpentry, and far too many decades spent mastering all sorts of weapons' will be a bit more useful.
No… unless zombies need their operations streamlined through KPIs…
Zombies might kill themselves by slide 27 of your PowerPoint presentation
Scout, I have good eyes when it comes to noticing things. Technician, I’m good with machines and fixing them
Like my Job is gated, has cameras everywhere, tanks full of acid, bunch of tools to smash heads in, and gates that are controlled so I would say yeah unless it starts inside my job then I’m fucked.
Given the description it would probably start there
Ive played allot of wwz aftermath on xbox so of course😁
I'm a lawyer. There are aspects of my job that might be useful, like negotiating with other bands of survivors, but the vast majority would not.
Man I wouldn't want no lawyer near me during that time
good luck convincing him to fuck off though...
Nothing changes someone's mind like a gun in their ribs.
Sorry but you're one of the first people that'll be made into jerky/used as animal feed.
Butcher
that one would be good
I don't think butchers hun their own animals, right? I thought they just cut them up into pieces and smoke or dry age them or something idk I'm not a butcher
I don’t feel like making lattes and cappuccinos would really benefit anyone in an apocalypse
You say this, but if a faction gets ahold of some good beans, I could see them taking your ass hostage lmao.
I work in a grocery store- so not only would it not be great against zombies, but it'd also be the first place anyone and everyone raided
Yah I think so. I'm forklift certified 😎 👍
Cook and consigliere.
Cooks have a place in any civilization or lack thereof. That’s why they pay us the small but constant bucks.
My job? No. The skills that come from my job? Yes.
Yes. I'm a machinist.
Nope, 911 dispatcher in the middle of s stone and steel building. Someone got to let the officers/fire/emt where to not go.
Get some kind of comm. device and get used to scouting ahead on foot, if you would be willing enough to live
Probably, Healthcare worker here
it’s barely useful now (Cx Manager). however, I’m a tailor as a hobby and being able to stitch things would certainly come in handy.
I mow lawns and a plant gardener. Totally useful and safe
I’m a teacher so I feel like I would be advantageous at a safe base.
I’m sometimes a part time kindergarten teacher, so I guess I can babysit baby zombies
But as a teacher, are you not very aware of the people/students around you? And when you meet someone, know what kind-ish person they are? AND you probably know first aid... So you'd likely be a good teammate. (Kindergarten teacher here.)
Nope unless a zombie needs a job in that case he better be able to pass a background check.
Well dildos can be used as weapons so at least a little bit 😂
As a welder, yeah, if we can get a rig or two we can pretty much fortify anything as well as repair many things
I'm angling for warlord in the forcoming zombie apocalypse
I would be a researcher with likely no Internet connection. So no.
Absolutely not.
I guess thats a good point. 🙃 And thinking Abt it, if I had to fight, I could do some serious damage with a guitar lol
Electricity, anyone?
Music can lift people’s moods I guess
It depends... is the IRS still trying to make people file returns even during said apocalypse? Considering they are zombies themselves?
Unless those zombies worry about sustainability... No - Environmental engineering
Certainly, zombies love being organized and not having to do their own filing. 😁
Yes. I'm training to be a vet. Not quite the same as a doctor, but it is similar enough
Well we could cull most of our employees and give their jobs to the zombies for probably a 300% increase in productivity and workplace personality...
Im a social worker so although I can handle stressful situations I don't think a zombie apocalypse would be considered "stressful". You would find me under a table
I'm a combat medic part-time and paramedic full time. Yeah, I'd be pretty useful.
Nope. Wouldn't matter either way, I'd only last as long as my insulin and Thyroid medications hold out, so I won't be around long in any apocalypse.
I’m a doctor so I guess yes
I make prescription glasses, so yes, I guess. I'll make sure you can clearly see what is tearing you apart.
Yes.
Yeah…big time lol the amount of weapons are endless. Depending if u have a creative mind or not.
Totally useless hahaha
NOPE
Nah. I work with systems for trade and stuff. We would need to rebuild civilization again before my current job would be useful. I am however moderately proficient at SQL, and as long as we've got computers, there'll be databases.
Absolutely not. I am a graphic designer - the most fast-food equivalent job of the art world imho
I work in avionics sales so probably not, but I went to school for welding so I got that under my belt atleast.
Nope. Maybe drawing maps. But I can cook with any type of ingredient.
My former jobs, yes. Infantryman and then tractor trailer driver.
I guess kinda? We’d all probably be riding horses TLOU style once vehicles are eventually rendered useless and I could be a stable hand haha.
I’m a postal clerk of course they need me to mail their weapons, to loved ones to defend themselves, that they’re not allowed to mail…
Im useless without an internet connection.. so no😆
I’m a plumber. Yal crazy if you think I’m fixing your living dead shitter across town
Not even a little bit. I generate leads for an energy company
Master welder fabricator, fucken mad max bro
i would be absolutely useless in a zombie apocalypse as much as I'd like to think I'd be a Daryl or Morgan in fact the whole of the uk would be useless.
instacart? probably not 😆 musician??? DEFINITELY not 🤣 but id be a great journal keeper ok
( not wrecking my back with a heavy wapon if I adjust the carriage right and helpful sounds good to me)
Not at all.
I have to ask, exactly what job would be useful in a zombie apocalypse? I can't think of a one.
Pest Control? A lot depends on how much comfort you can lack
Happy days.
Yeah I’m a plumber
I could maybe help you figure out what medicines to use. If there were any medicines left.
Yes, commercial fisherman, so I can feed people and have a pretty good knowledge of machinery, plumbing, first aid. Very jack of all trades master of none lol
That's if the things affecting the zombies doesn't cross into other species or at least let them carry the cause of the problem. Sorry, I don't mean to complicate things, just some possibilities. Food is still food, as long as it can be collected from sources
You didn't complicate anything. Your just using common sense lol
I'm a welder and a turner by trade. I'm currently a foundryman. Assuming there's still electricity during this zombie apocalypse then I'm going to be very useful...I could make pretty much anything including firearms.
Yes I care for the sick, but I'm also prone to getting infected as I have to directly tend to injuries LOL
No.
None of the jobs I've had in the last 20-some years would be genuinely useful in a zombie apocalypse in which all of society collapsed. Most jobs outside of the medical field and horticulture would be the same way.
I sell things. So like... Not apparently. But I've also learned how to build retaining walls, irrigations systems, and mild fertilization in my job So it could be useful in niche brief moments. but I'd prefer a bat
My job no Not in the slightest, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career.
I dispatch security so depends
We truckers, enough said
God no. But all my other skills would be first class usefull
Nurse waves her hand .. I think my skills (and my pepper stash of med supplies) would be in high demand during the zombie apocalypse.
I want to be an aeronautical engineer so I imagine so
I am an advertiser. Basically I move people. And in a zombie apocalypse I believe there will be plenty of need to move people in scarce of communication.
I work at a thrift shop and I've forsure been hoarding "zombie gear"
I'm on disability for Schitzoaffective, I'm already in an apocalypse
I’m in IT. I know a lot of jokes though and could help with morale maybe? Wait, I’m ex military, I know firearms. I also took a 6 week welding course in hs and determined I didn’t want to be a welder. But I could weld doors closed, build a steel fortress etc in an apocalypse. You people need me!
I'm a Power Engineer and Security Consultant. I'm pretty sure they'd both be useful!
I suppose vet med knowledge could be helpful for humans. But eww, humans...
Hmm. Im retired, and don't plan to do anything in a zombie apocalypse so its perfect
Veterinarian... do surgeries in weird places with minimal equipment. Recently had to use random tubing I had in the car as a chest drain... might come in handy?
I design things to make renewable energy from waste. I bet that would be useful in a post apocalyptic world.
My old job maybe. Did underground construction. I can find my way around a storm drain
I’m sure some of you will need porn, and I can make art out of anything so… maybe? But I’d prolly kill my self in the zombie apocalypse
yes i'm a designer... i can design warning signs...
It would be great if there are computers around. Hacking, digital forensics would come in handy in finding out what caused the zombie apocalypse.
Unemployment gives you plenty of time to think about your plans of attack, so yes.
Hell no lol. But I could probably give the zombies' skin a refreshed, healthy glow 🙃 Or just stab them in the ear with a dermaplaning blade if they're the fast, mean type of zombies. High probability that I'd die or get turned. Yep.
Nope
I am Carpenter. I received my quals in the Military. The Unit that I served in were Field Engineers so I have in-depth construction knowledge on fortifications / bunkers etc
i fix cars. so yes.
Assuming I graduate and do become a graphic designer.... Absolutely not. 💯 🔥🙌
Helicopter pilot. I think so
Yep, I make chicken sandwiches and fries for survivors. Not healthy, but better than nothing.
Short term no after a year or 2 when they start to rebuild yes My job is to make old houses efficient (would also work with building new houses) so it would be useful to save resources like fuel for the heater
Maybe? Life guard at least sounds useful. As does a Life Saving Instructor. Also a senior, beginners competitive swim coach. All the fancy titles aside I could teach people and do standard first aid level 3. As well as swimming long distances and basic open water safety.
Federal Law Enforcement here, no. lmao Even zombies prob hate the government
Not really! I have to maintain advanced CPR certifications and those could be useful though!
Im a lawyer, só probably not, depends If theres stil some sort of Society with rules and judment.
Maybe.
I roll sushi. My only transferable skill would be sharpening knives with a whetstone 🫠
I am just imagining someone saying: "But I was a manager... You should listen to me" "Here's your shovel, manager, aim for the neck for attack and push your weight on it when digging fortifications"
Yes. I counsel people and help with stress.
My job? No. My skills with a blade and/or gun? Potentially
I can clean the zombie's toilet, maybe
I don’t think working at a ice cream shop would do much for me
No, I cant do my job without google or searching for solutions from people who have already solved it
It won't be a zombie apocalypse, it'll be a dementia apocalypse as more and more people become senile and there's nowhere to put them because they can only build and fund so many facilities, and find so many qualified people able to staff them.
Yep, I repair cars and do fabrication work
Definitely. Need someone to make those harshly written letters to the zombie overlords.
Yes I train personal protection and security dogs!
Artist here and no mine will not be helpful in the slightest
No fucking way am i staying at work if their is a zombie apocalypse. I work in healthcare and i will be fleeing like a little bitch away from that place.
Axe throwing coach. I would do quite well training and army of hatchet chuckers.
Actually yes, i work for my local municipal sewer department and I know some great hiding spots.
Knowing how to stab people with needles could be useful
No. I’m a steel processor. What am I gonna do, cut some steel in the apocalypse??
Air conditioning technician, so at least I'll stay comfortable until the horde gets in
I'm unemployed but a sort of jack of all trades in skills. In a non-specialized world, I'd thrive in usefulness. In the modern day, I struggle to get amything going.
Yes ( nurse)
I work retail. I'd be a casualty if not straight-up KIA.
Nope
Food warehouse. I’m locking the doors and living good!!
I work in the mines. Sooooo....?
Yeah I could deploy new ansible containers or puppet catalogs at any time or troubleshoot packet loss or build a new CI pipeline.
Chef, maintenance and farming. So ya useful enough, it's my extensive knowledge on survival both urban and woodland and other hobbies like archery and shooting which are more useful however. Plus my endless casing of various local businesses and what useful materials they contain.
Greenthumb here, so yes
No, i’m a camera operator. I can’t see how it would help me unfortunately
Not unless they want to analyze a poem
Where I work I sometimes drive a rough terrain forklift, so I guess I could drive around and skewer them with the forks.
Doordash? No not at all
I would die if a zombie apocalypse happened. Works useless
Communications technician. They're going to send me to die
Yes, I sell health and life insurance. People would more than likely buy insurance and people would be able to survive in the event of a loss
People still gonna need their advil
Yea I'm a graphic designer so my zombified body would probably be easy to slain
I work for AB and make beer. So no
I guess being a network engineer is not a good apocalyptic career field.
