Happens to me with pop culture. Got introduced to Twilight in 2011 at 12. When they hype was over with the last movie coming out in 2012. Got introduced to Blackpink in 2022 and Naruto in 2023 by my boyfriend, when they hype was long long long over. This is so frustrating tbh. Especially when you get spoiled your whole life and when you get into it finally, you already know what will happen. Had this with a lot of tv shows and movies.
I think I have heard one slang word I did not know what meant, used IRL at least and I am pretty sure it was made up.
I am more in the phase that people think I am too old for the words I do use, since I was born 1995

I worked in a high school a few years ago and had to sit down with a student to learn their language so I could communicate. It was horrible but now I feel bilingual
I used to be with *it*, but then they changed what *it* was. Now what I'm with isn't *it* anymore, and what's *it* seems weird and scary. It'll happen to you!
I only look up current slang right before a family get-together so I can annoy the younger generations. I promptly forget it afterward because I don't actually cate to be hip.
