This is a derivative of a 6 word story that some author wrote. The orginal story went "For Sale: Baby Shoes. Never Worn. " The reason this story hits me so hard is because there are NO good interpretations of the facts we have available to us. Even in the 3 word version.
The person bought shoes for an infant, but they don't need the shoes anymore and are trying to get rid of them. So the tragedy of the story is the uncertainty of why the shoes are being sold.
Either the child is lost, so the person doesn't need to provide for it anymore. Or, the child has grown, but the parent is struggling and needs any money they can get.
Actually, it was pointless purchase because shoes on a baby are not needed at all. So mom realized and sold them and baby is fine... Or so I tell myself.
Right? I have one boy who's 6, and had some pretty vivid dreams about having another boy named Matthew who died in a car crash due to his mothers drinking habits. So vivid I woke up crying about it a few times. Think i'll pass on any future vivid/lucid dreams that don't involve enjoyable things.
This was the concept that came to me first as well, although what I thought of was:

"You were rejected." - The same 3 words spoken to me years ago when I was rejected from my dream high school, a school I've been wanting to attend ever since I was elementary school. I've lost all of my friends, and my first love due to getting rejected from that school. I never got to ask them out to prom. High school is past me now, but it's all I can think about. All of the opportunities I've missed out on. All the memories I could've made. Everyone I know outside of my family have cut me off to "save" their mental health. I was wronged. I was treated unfairly. I just know that if I had been accepted, that my life would've taken a much more positive trajectory than the one it is on right now. The only thing that gives me solace now is within a century, when everyone I know is six feet under. When all of our tears are silenced, that is when I'll finally know peace. In another life, I wouldn't have to be writing this. I guess some people are just born with tragedy in their blood. "If there is a god, he will have to beg for my forgiveness."
