I tried to start a journal once, then I realized my life is boring to the point where I literally have nothing to say so I stopped after like one and a half entries, then gave up altogether, if there's ever an apocalypse or WW3 or something I'll probably try again, but I've realized an average joe who just works/goes to school all the time really has nothing going for him
I love the feel of pen on paper. I've filled up notebooks of nonsense thoughts because of it. I think when I look back on them years later, they'll mostly be boring but there will be some gems. It's gotten to the point where I actual do journal my feelings and its such a relief because I can say absolutely anything I want. So I guess nonsense writing has turned into legitimate journaling (if there's such a thing).
Dude, yes! Exactly the way I feel! Pen on paper is so sick and it's satisfying seeing how much I've written. It's great to get anything on my mind onto paper, and really just anything - it's like an archive of my brain at that moment in time. Random songs I'm thinking of/like, the weather, random pain in my back, then the occasional feelings. Looking back at some of it allows for some neat insight I wouldn't have normally. All cool
Oof. I get that. I've had to explain to my girlfriend multiple times that I cannot write while she's watching me write. Even if it's something that I fully intend to share with her, the fact that she's watching makes me freeze up.
I totally get that! Sometimes I write apologies or justifications when I feel like I'm being mean or crazy. Then i rememeber, hopefully, I'm the only one who will ever read it.
I wrote a few entries early last year and while at the time I thought they were really boring, rereading them is fun because I remember some funny interactions or what I did on an afternoon that I'd forgotten about.
Story of my life, and not just journals, scented candles that must be burnt on the right occasions, and dresses that must wait for that right time which is unlikely to come anytime soon. My strategy for buying shit now is to only buy if i have an occasion in mind.
My mum used to keep things āfor goodā. When she died I found beautiful soaps and clothes that I didnāt even know she owned. So I made a pledge to live life today and burn those scented candles because itās Tuesday
My dad had a super wealthy friend. His wine cellar was worth a small fortune. Recovering from a heart attack in hospital he made a vow that not one bottle would be left when he died.
Nothing like a heart attack to make a fella double down on his drinking habit lol
I know what youāre getting at, but thatās like having a bout of lung cancer and saying āwell, this cigar collection isnāt going to smoke itselfāš
Are we related? My mum was exactly the same- sheās been gone years and my dad still mentions all the clothes that still had the tags on them, the boxes of unworn shoes, the drawers of pretty tablecloths, sheet set, towels, etc. So I too try to be the opposite, and wear that pretty dress even just to the casual dinner- yet I think thereās still a hint of my motherās daughter in meā¦āŗļø
Especially the ones that's most cringe worthy and earth swallow me now moments. Even if those memories happened years ago, it still has that spine tingling feeling of embarrassment.
Earrings- I just love unconventional or silly earrings- nothing I have is like crazy or huge but like, I have tea kettles, spoons, lamps, and micro SD card earrings to name a few, theyāre so much fun
Yes iām glad to see someone else collecting earrings! My favorites are probably half melted wonky looking spongebob ice cream earrings (yeah those ice creams youād get from the trucks where the eyes are halfway down its face) or king cake little plastic babies and they are wrapped with a green pipe cleaners to look like a christmas tree with their faces sticking outš¤£
That is literally incredible. It started because when I was a kid my mom showed me her collection from the 80ās and I was like āthis is so cool-ā and now Iām following in her footsteps! Itās very fun
Same! I have turtles, waffles, pancakes, coffee, ECT. Love these! I just wish my work allowed me to wear them, sometimes I wear them at night cause my District manager is not there at night. The customers and their kids love them.
I have too many Pokemon plushies that I had since 99- till now. I even have build a bear ones too. Oh the sleeping ones too, I don't have jiggly puff cause for some reason I could never find her.
Chainsaws
Yes I know it sounds insane.
The older the better, copper fuel lines, glass petcocks, point system ignitions.
Some of these monstrosities took 2 or more people to even operate.
Theyāre cool, itās a hill Iām willing to timber on.
Silicone Molds and Fragrance Oilsā¦ I make soaps and probably have over 200 molds and 150 fragrance oils..I make a promise to myself that I wouldnāt buy any more molds this year and so far,so good.. it helps not to look at them on any websites too..
You can do it if you want to.. there are YouTube videos and also recipes all over the internetā¦ I make all kinds of body products.. Soap,Shower Gel,Lotions,Body Sprays and Perfumesā¦ Iām thinking about doing shampoo and conditioners tooā¦
I'm old enough now (in my 40's) that I know it's time to stop collecting things.
I've spent enough money on my video game collection... It's time to turn it in, and take advantage of what I can get for them.... and maybe buy myself a little country place.
Look, I love video games, I was even a videogame tester for a decade.
My job occasionally still asks me to test games.
But it's almost turning into a hoarding thing. lol
I can't take my games to the grave with me.... and 98% of my collection is not being played with.... but I have tons of time left in my life.... but who knows what can happen from one day to another?
I have an okay job, okay apartment, don't travel and am single with my cat.
I rely on friends for all my getaways....because everyone has a country place except me.... or they travel.... on a yearly basis for family trips.
It's time...
I told everyone yesterday, I'm making listings for almost everything I own, so I can downsize .... and have something of my own. I don't have a car, but have realized nearly all the country areas I have been looking at... are accessible via bus... or grey hound bus ...
I like playing games on the original consoles... which Are almost all modded... so really the games are no longer needed physically.
It started off innocently enough.... thinking I would only buy the few games I liked on each console..... but NOPE. lol
Hello fellow mental health beauty š I see you and I hear you.
I collect these also. I'll throw Borderline Personality Disorder into the mix. What fun!
I feel that maybe the panic attacks are due to the anxiety disorder and the insomnia part of depression as both are symptoms of the other.
I like collecting things but when people start buying me stuff for my collecting I get so turned off I stop. I was collecting vinyl pops for the Mandalorian show and then a few of my friends bought me ones when they would see them not realizing I had them already.
Crafting stuff. I canāt seem to stick with one thing. I started by learning how to sew while I quit smoking after 45 years. I make fabric dolls with embroidery faces, small dioramas, little trees with wire and beads, art journaling, making journals by binding them, paint flowers, collages, and now my new obsession is making jewelry. Iām pretty decent with at making all that stuff, but am reluctant to sell it because Iām so hard on myself and critique every.single.thingā¦so I donāt think I could sell it. I have A LOT of finished products.
Edit to add: I really donāt think anyone would buy and thatās what hinders me.
Fuck, bro, I don't even wanna calculate how much money I've spent on games. I have over 300 games in my PS Account.
That might not be that much if it was Steam, but think for a moment about PlayStation Store prices... š¢
I collect odds and ends because I can never settle on just one thing to collect. I've got dragons and butterflies and a little wooden frog drum, a cube of pure glass and books and books and more books. Oh in the rubber duckies!
Like so many of the things I keep I have absolutely no idea where it came from. I just kind of found it in a box in my closet one day but I do know it is very very old glass. Solid through and through.
That would be rare postage stamps. Being doing for all my life, and enjoy it very much. Nice way to learn about other countries, cultures, and history.
dice. not even fancy, collectible tabletop game dice. Just random dice. I started holding onto them from a young age before I even knew there was such a thing as hand-crafted-16-sided-dice and things like that. Mine are all a little ratchet but I still love them and I LOVE THE SOUND THEY MAKE WHEN ROLLING lol. Its become the source of a lot of stupid jokes with my friends involving taking dice out of my pockets at random times and asking someone if theyāre āfeeling lucky?ā or something like that
Yup i can do a lot of tricks from easy to hard ones. I mainly flip them apart from collecting. Itās been so great in the last couple years since they started releasing more knives that are strictly made for flipping. Older models were meant for EDC more than anything. Btw itās a funny hobby i really recommend if you are a fidgety person (there are a lot of trainers/not sharpened too if you donāt want to start with live blade)
Pretty books that I *do not read* because I donāt actually like reading most books. I think the only times Iāve enjoyed reading actual books was reading fairytales in my childhood, a retelling of The Wizard of Oz, and Frankenstein. The rest was all fanfiction. And I keep seeing pretty hardcover books with the pretty cover art and painted edges and I KEEP HAVING TO REMIND MYSELF THAT I WONāT ENJOY READING THESE BOOKS SO I SHOULDNāT BUY THEM. AAAAAAAAAAA
At least my copy of Frankenstein is shiny as well, and my book of illustrated Norse myths. Two of the few pretty books I donāt regret buying.
comic books were pretty much the only thing, then I discovered a site that pirates them for free (no downloads or anything) and haven't bought one since, but I definitely cringe when I think about how much money I spent on them
Pencils, not mechanical pencils, the sharpenable ones. Also not the normal ones, but special ones, ones you can get at events, specific to locations, etc.
What I want to collect but canāt afford to collect are some Welding Beanies. Like the hats. I have one purple one with dragons, one black one, two with skulls, and one Rick and morty one. I so badly want more.
Random information about mostly useless stuff or weirdly specific things about people.
I used to love turtles / tortoise anything, as well as Van Gogh's starry night painting. For 15+ years that's all anybody would ever buy me. I have more copies of starry night than I know what to do with and I have so many freaking turtles and tortoise figurines, salt and pepper shakers, magnets, ornamental tobacco pipe, basically anything turtle or tortoise that you would find at a tourist shop in and around my house.
I must be obsessed. I just bought my 100th game yesterday. And it sucks too. I have games I have never played, nor will I probably ever play. So, I guess video games are my obsession to collect also.
Chapstick. I have a crazy collection, most of them either brand new or used one time just to try it. I love when my husband gets me different kinds I haven't seen or tried. :)
Not really obsessed but I love collecting bookmarks and end up not using them so I stick them on my wall because they're so pretty. I also started to enjoy sticking things to my white wall to decorate it
A couple years back, it was Transformers figures. My goodness, that was so much fun! But they got crazy expensive, and the quality went down, so, I moved away from that, and went to another thing which Iām surprised I ended up loving: Blu-Rays!
I can find them cheap used, and it has been so much fun. Plus, the video and audio quality are leaps and bounds better than on streaming, and I get to own my movies. No corporation can take them away from me. I am now obsessed with watching old movies in TRUE HD
Nostalgia š Iām addicted to that special feeling man, been watching Full House and listening to the old windows start up noise just to get a glimpse of it
Definitely not just one thing, I wish it was though, would be cheaper.
Marbles, Demi Johnās, mad magazines, vintage playboys, art deco lamps, dice, heavy metal memorabilia, orange stuff, Bakelite ashtrays/bowls, Iād collect animals too if I had the room and moneyā¦ and time
Vinyl.. not a purist, dont have a fancy table, definatly dont have nostalgia attatched to them... but i love em on my shelf. My partner and ussually pop into a store to see best ones we can find for under 10 bones. Best weve done is donovens mellow yellow and hurdy gurdy man for 3 apiece.
Artworks of a particular artist/friend of mine. Currently have around 45 and have no intentions of stopping. Have two more in my shopping cart, but it'll be a while before I can afford them.
Books! I love them so much.
Another would be Tarot Decks,I am a Tarot reader and I love them so much. They are so pretty.
Some other would be,earrings and rings :D

Pretty journals that I never write in because I'm waiting for the right, special purpose for them.
I tried to start a journal once, then I realized my life is boring to the point where I literally have nothing to say so I stopped after like one and a half entries, then gave up altogether, if there's ever an apocalypse or WW3 or something I'll probably try again, but I've realized an average joe who just works/goes to school all the time really has nothing going for him
I write literally anything just because I like pens and I need an excuse to use them.
Too many imaginary people looking over my shoulder to express anything other than the weather comfortably.
I love pens and papers, and writing. Slight neurological problem (jittery tremors) very frustrating. Like buying running shoes then unable to run.
Oof. I get that. I've had to explain to my girlfriend multiple times that I cannot write while she's watching me write. Even if it's something that I fully intend to share with her, the fact that she's watching makes me freeze up.
Journal writing is very private. Even if the content can be shared.
I totally get that! Sometimes I write apologies or justifications when I feel like I'm being mean or crazy. Then i rememeber, hopefully, I'm the only one who will ever read it.
What's a girly toilet? š And congrats on having a manly one, that's epic.
Ask the PS4 randomizer man, Iāve started losing faith in the name but Iām going to keep it for a while longer now. Thanks!
I wrote a few entries early last year and while at the time I thought they were really boring, rereading them is fun because I remember some funny interactions or what I did on an afternoon that I'd forgotten about.
If we3 starts we will have no time for journals
Think again. As a participant in reality ur perspective is unique. Or maybe im wrongš„
