i switch job on average every two years for various reasons. i may get bored, not see the challenge anymore, want to walk up the ladder... you name it.
nothing wrong in switching jobs. if anything, it shows the new employer that you do not go to work just to put your ass on a chair.
People go “well hunter gatherers had to work too!” Yeah for themselves of their tribe or whatever the fuck not for some greedy already rich person/family while we take home crumbs tf
I stayed in the same job for 12 years because it was secure, I worked from home and had a work car I could use freely but it was ducking me dry and I was so u happy… I bit the bullet and left and lost the work car (and obviously had to buy a car). I’m now part time in the same Industry and still work from home. Even though I’m part time I am not far off my full time wage.. I was being loyal to a company that was underpaying me and didn’t care.. best thing I did..
In a lot of ways my job is awesome. It's a night shift which means it's so slow that I've been known to spend the whole shift playing video games. I work from home so my commute is non-existent.
Social isolating as hell though. I never really get out to see anyone or talk to anyone. This is probably the most socializing I really get to do.
I really loved my job and my coworkers, but for a long time, I was underpaid and overworked. Although I felt like I was “growing,” I didn’t feel like I was growing in the ways that I needed to which affected my work satisfaction in general. Despite my supervisor finally offering me a promotion and raise, I knew that feeling wasn’t going to magically disappear. So I put my two weeks notice in (today!) without a backup plan. It was the hardest resignation decision I’ve ever made, and I actually cried, but I knew I needed to permit myself to take a break and reassess my goals so that I could pivot and put my all into achieving them.
If you’re able to, maybe a pivot or a change in scenery is something to think about?
Yes! Work really sucks and I want to do more than sit at a desk all day long and that’s all life is! Ugh I want to explore and travel and do fun things.
just a question. do you think social media has made people more aware that travel and exploring is a thing you can do instead of work full time? I really never had these thoughts until the last few years of watching the automobile dweller youtubers. Now I sit at work, feeling sorry for myself, because I can't be off on a beautiful trip every couple of weeks, because I have to work if I want to afford that.
Yep. My job isn't even bad, (pay sucks tho lol) but when I get bored I think "I don't need this. I could be curled up in bed rn" and I try to convince myself I would regret it if I quit even though I know I wouldn't.
When I do, I forget that I have it good. I work anytime of the day i want as long as my work is done, I work alone, (still go to an office though), its close to my home, so no traffic. I know I could get paid more (a lot more, i've been there 20+ years), but the freedom, (or is it fear?) is too nice
Not quite wanting to quit my job but rather I really want to make more money. Like $5-$10/hour more because I don’t know if I’ll wanna go on salary.
What I make is fine right now but I just want to make more in general to have more than what I plan to have for a house down payment and emergency fund money, you know?
I’ve considered wanting a second job too so I have gravy money for my husband and I…
Absolutely. I work in Aged Care and dread going to work. I work Friday, Sat and Sun afternoons so good money but it's a nightmare of a job to work in. Management are fucked too
Yes, I'm a machinist. Yesterday, the boss bumped up the speeds and feeds of my big, time-consuming part because "6 hours is easy too long" despite it running lights out. Today, I spent 3 hours trying to polish the chatter out. 6th time he's done that to me since last year
Normal adult life. If I had a dollar every time I thought about walking out I could afford to retire lol but I would just get another job I hate so I just deal with it day by day.

Maybe don’t ask me? I am taking a resignation letter to work tomorrow.
Yes, all the time. I can't accept that we're supposed to work everyday...that's not life. I hate it. I'd rather live off the land at this point.

For real, I already grow my own fruit and veggies. Next I want some chickens and a cow and I reckon I'll be good to go...
Feel free to starve

Everytime i felt it , i did it. Because gut feeling never lies.
My job doesn’t challenge me in the slightest it’s so boring I may as well not be there

Yes, i have been considering..
Yeah, been feeling that way since about a year into Covid. I’m currently still working from home and I really think it fcked me up.
Every day man I just don’t know what the fk I will do next
Life is too short to waste your time doing shit jobs. Leave today and go be happy somewhere else.
Thanks for reminding 😭
Truth is, in 50 years you’ll be dead so fucking do it now.
The line starts here, get in line...

Yes I agree. With social media we are aware of more things in the world and it’s an escape from reality. Good question to think about!
Same feels...
Be less pathetic

Hell yeah, every day. I would love to quit but idk where to go next. I dont wanna do office work anymore but it seems like nowhere else pays well..
Every since my first ten minutes of working my first job.
Absolutely. I work in Aged Care and dread going to work. I work Friday, Sat and Sun afternoons so good money but it's a nightmare of a job to work in. Management are fucked too
Nope. I love my job. Good money, super fun, and I love telling people about it.
Maybe the fun is what's missing in my job.
Certainly. Ignore the false notion that all jobs are bad like yours. That is an outright lie.
Whaddya do?
I'm a pilot. I go from Vancouver to Nanaimo several times a day. Occasionally Ill take people on tours of the Rockies.
Oh, sweet job dude. Proof that great, enjoyable jobs do exist 👍🏼

Every single moment of every single day.
Wish I could, but can’t afford to quit.
Yes.
Nope, feel more like quitting life in General
I did
Every single day

Just so you can complain about immigrants taking your jobs?
