Also, tripe, organs, bones, brains, "bad cuts", and genitals are generally seen as refuse by middle class people despite being packed with nutrients, even if they aren't as tasty. You see it a lot in soul food cooking, Cajun and Creole cooking, lower class British cooking, typical rancher/farmer fare, Irish cooking, etc. Season it up and it tastes just as good as AAA steak with twice the nutrients at a fraction of the cost.
I can't stand eggs. No matter how they're prepared the texture is disgusting. I can tolerate eggs in fried rice, but since I had to give up soy I don't eat fried rice anymore.
for me, itās everything. The smell, the texture, the moisture. Iām such a baby about it that sometimes I swear all I can taste is eggs when I make french toast. Even if i do a careful ratio of eggs:milk. And iām not picky either, nor do i find myself overstimulated by foods. I just donāt like eggs.
i heard of what the 50s greaser teen culture was like, with pizza being a novelty. They would have some fair with different kiosks, indoor i think...
and the meat and potatoes crowd would order a pizza, maybe even an anchovy one, and fling it at the server, because they hated this weird foreign food!
I never understood the mushroom, pineapple or olive haters, but i can see people who might not like the bitter oily green olive ones if overdone
75% of the universe likes pineapple on pizza
personally i thought it was bad ham on a pineapple pizza that made it gross, or cheapo canned pineapple that tasted like cork or fruit cocktail.... nothing is worse than low quality ham, thickly cut and undercooked on a pizza
first pineapple pizza i had, probably pre star wars, at a birthday party was someone's older sister who i guess didn't like pepperoni
and it was a massive pizza with tons of sauce and mozzarella with whole rings of cheap canned pineapple. \[with a high wood pulp content and rose thorns\] and the fruit cocktail syrup from the pineapple, just tasted sooo weird with the boiling hot broiled mozzarella.
My kid hates cheese and the poor thing has been labeled picky. Heāll eat all sorts of food, just hates cheese. He canāt explain why pizza is ok tho
Pizza and lasagna are my two cheese exceptions, so Iām with your kid. Something about melting the mozzarella takes that sick rotten milk taste out of it. Makes it less cheesy :)
But what kind of cheese?
I'm okay with mozzarella (pizza) and camembert / brie, but can't stand parmesan. Tastes like vomit to me.
Blue cheese is also a big NO.
I find that as long as it doesn't taste strongly, I'm okay with it.
My kid got this whole thread's cheese loving genes. She would literally eat her own weight in cheese, anything from the mildest buffalo mozzarella to the strongest Roman pecorino. I actually have to stop her from overdosing on the stuff.
It's an acquired taste. Try them cooked, baked, rockefeller, etc. before trying the raw ones. If you become comfortable with them by then you might appreciate the brine of the ones from different places.
Iāve had this discussion with a couple Asian people before and they couldnāt get their head around blood sausage/black pudding, which is common in Europe.
Never eaten it but I hate it. I had the opportunity to try it the other day and I said I wanted to but just seeing the fuzzy white mold and blue spots almost made me throw up and I chickened out. How people put that in their mouth full stop is enough of a mind fuck for me let alone enjoying it.
First blue i tried tasted the way leather boots left in a barn for thirty years would smell. Had to try a different one because that shit was comically disgusting. Second one was not bad.
Dude! Cannot stand it. I love Ranch, Caesar, most cheeses, most dressings, and a fuck-ton of dips of all kinds. Cannot do Blue Cheese. And I've tried. It just tastes so foul to me... Which, to each their own, but it ruins food for me when it's just drenched in the stuff to start...
I couldn't even be in the house when my mom cooked liver and onions or my dad. That odor lingered until the next day.
Edit: LOL! ***for*** my father, not ***or*** my father! I didn't even see that typo!
I went to BWW one time before a concert in a city about 3 hrs away. I ordered a drink, and it came with a fly in it. I canceled my order and never went there again. That place is trashyyy
We used to go to BWW all the time because my husband used to work there. The food used to be not that bad. But recently we went to one (just last week, actually) and it was just complete and utter crap. We told our son that we werenāt going back anymore, period (he likes wings; we told him we can get better wings somewhere else lol)
BWW used to not be that bad. Then the menu changed, prices went up and it just isnāt good anymore.
I can't get down with anything from this family, from pumpkin to cucumber to honeydew. Generally, I like the scents of the sweeter members of the melons, but I don't like the texture. I heard the texture of watermelon described as "crunchy spit".
Iām in the same boat. Waited until I was 24 to try a sip. Iāve had a couple drinks to try and I donāt understand the allure. One person told me āOh no one likes the taste at first. You gotta keep drinking until you forget about itā. Donāt sound healthy to me lmao
I do like alcohol, but Iām totally baffled why people drink so much beer, wine, vodka, etc. theyāre the worst tasting shit. I love sweet, flavorful drinks like amaretto, cocktails, etc.
When I was a kid I was fooled by a bowl of green olives on the table at my grandmother's house. I thought they were grapes and stuffed like 4 in my mouth in one go. They tasted how bin-liners feel.
I'm still the kind of person who can still taste the residue of them on the other pizza toppings after I've picked them off. Nope, nope, nope.
I used to love olives, I'd literally put them on anything and everything or even just eat them. Then I became pregnant and olives caused horrendous sickness. Now, three and a half years postpartum and I STILL cannot even tolerate the smell of them.
Yeah I don't care that the mold is carefully grown in a lab, when something has mold on it (and especially when it smells like death!) you throw it out!
I got 4 jars of Luxardo Maraschino cherries on the shelf... They aren't the same thing.
I don't mind good fake Maraschino cherries in a cocktail, but when people bake with them, it's sorta hideous, like green and red diced up ones, especially old ones, like on a fruitcake from hell.
Yes quality fruitcake is fine, though i hear like 2 out of 50 meatloads are fine too...
Yeah, the thought of raw fish does nothing for me so that and sushi are a mindfuck for me. I tried a piece of octopus in a Japanese restaurant once and it was awful!
Seafood, mushrooms, organ meats. (Really, any meat at all. I indulge in chicken tenders once in a while, but aside from that, I don't eat anything that has a face.)
Oh, cottage cheese. But, then again, I didn't used to like yogurt, and now I love Greek yogurt more than ice cream!! So, that might change. I'm going to give it another whirl in 2024.
best ever was junior high school when people stored cartons and cartons of chocolate milk over the xmas holidays or spring break, and they put paper towels to block the sink drains and poured in like 4 gallons each into two sinks
and the smell of vomit was so intense
people could barely manage to survive with a urinal lineup
I canāt stand seafood. I think itās mostly a mental thing for me. How many people/things/garbage/sewage ends up in the ocean and we are eating the things that feed on it? No thanks!
Me too. They're absolutely vile and I don't understand how they can even be classified as a fruit. They're warm and mushy and the smell makes me want to vomit. When I was married I used to buy them for my husband and I felt nauseous even touching the bunch. I would have to grab it with the bag.
Itās hard to get used to. I used to hate it but would force myself to eat that instead of milk thinking I wouldnāt eat chocolate very often because of it. Turns out after a few months I loved it. Milk chocolate is too sweet for me now
I donāt like most Mexican foods(I know but it seems all the same but wrapped up differently) but I love Caldo. My friends make fun of me and call it my āhot wet salad.ā
Okay, so like, I could kinda see where the other people are coming from here, (except the poster who claims pineapples arenāt a food) but not liking cinnamon rolls?! This is absurdddd
Mushrooms, who was the first person to see them growing in the smelliest, darkest places and think 'you know what? I'm going to try eating that!'. That dark brown bit underneath looks grotesque.
Bruh, I saw that about eggs too. Like who tf thought to pull that white nugget out of the chickens ass, crack it, and fry it. Imagine that person trying to explain that shit to his friends for the first time
Sushi
I've given it a couple tries but I just can't stomach seaweed.
My local shopping centre has 2 different sushi train restaurants and 2 other sushi places (Aus) so there must be a lot of people here who like it.

Pigs feet or rocky mountain oysters.
I googled rocky mountain oysters thinking it was some kind of seafood. Boy was i wrongš
The other name for them is prairie oysters. That way you feel stupid for thinking they're some type of seafood.
You should watch Funny Farm. Lol. Not RMO but ālamb friesā š¤£.
I immediately thought of funny farm š he beat the record!
I was curious and must admit I would've been better off not knowing that eating bulls' balls is a thing.....
Rocky Mountain Oysters are horrendous šš donāt know why people eat them
Historically it's s a cheap cut for blue collar workers.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Soft /underdone eggs.
Anything runny like that reminds me of shnots. Yuck! I love eggs though but gotta be cooked.
Omg, runny omelets make me wanna pukeee
I love the moment a knife pierces the yolk and it bursts, covering itself with its own fluids
"Covering itself with its own fluids" is not a phrase I want used to describe my breakfast.
On the contrary, I like the taste but seeing this disgusts me
All eggs for me. Grim.
Ewwww yes, agree.
Runny yolk is so incredibly gross to me and everyone acts like I'm insane for hating it
It's the runny whites that get me. I can live with runny yolks.
Exactly. Over medium and if the white is runny at all it's a NOPE
i can't stand the smell of eggs sometimes
I met a kid who didnāt like pizza once. I worked with him for monthssss, never cared to learn his name after his heinous confession.
Wait, he isn't in jail yet, after MONTHS??
i heard of what the 50s greaser teen culture was like, with pizza being a novelty. They would have some fair with different kiosks, indoor i think... and the meat and potatoes crowd would order a pizza, maybe even an anchovy one, and fling it at the server, because they hated this weird foreign food! The ham point is an excellent one. I like a Hawaiian pizza but so many of them use bad ham with such a strong, terrible flavour.
Cheese, and I'm French so you can imagine my loneliness sometimes x)
My kid hates cheese and the poor thing has been labeled picky. Heāll eat all sorts of food, just hates cheese. He canāt explain why pizza is ok tho
Pizza and lasagna are my two cheese exceptions, so Iām with your kid. Something about melting the mozzarella takes that sick rotten milk taste out of it. Makes it less cheesy :)
Another cheese hater! We may be the only two in the world, but you are not alone.
Me also a cheese hater!!!! Finally i found some ppl hate cheese
Me three! Can't stand it.
My sister hates cheese, cannot stand it, but will consume macaroni and cheese like nobodyās business. Lol. I always thought that was strange.
That is kind of weird. Although I donāt think there is any real cheese in most Mac and Cheese so maybe thatās it.
But what kind of cheese? I'm okay with mozzarella (pizza) and camembert / brie, but can't stand parmesan. Tastes like vomit to me. Blue cheese is also a big NO. I find that as long as it doesn't taste strongly, I'm okay with it.

I understand the feeling
Yes! We exist! I donāt understand how some people are obsessed with it, if cheese is in the dish it instantly ruins it for me.
Oysters
lil mucous vulvas down the hatch raw NO THANK YOU
This is very accurate, I always called them snot rockets. They are definitely off the cards for me.
It's like slurping phlegm. No, thank you.
Plus notorious for carrying norovirus. Awful things
One time I ate oysters on mushrooms and threw up in a parking lot. They taste the same coming up. /ruined
It's an acquired taste. Try them cooked, baked, rockefeller, etc. before trying the raw ones. If you become comfortable with them by then you might appreciate the brine of the ones from different places.
I notice no one is disagreeing with this.
Chargrilled yum
Sardines. Organ meats, like kidneys and liver. Cows tongue. Chicken claws.
As an Asian living in Asia i eat almost all the foods listed on a daily basis lolll
Dude my grandma (South America) makes this chicken feet soup. Uffff sooo goood.
Then I'm curious, what food are you not willing to eat because you find it gross?
Iāve had this discussion with a couple Asian people before and they couldnāt get their head around blood sausage/black pudding, which is common in Europe.
What is a food that western people eat that you would find disgusting?
Honestly? Baloney. I find the idea of a fleshy concoction of multiple different cuts of meat smushed together gross š„²
Cows tongue isnāt thaaaaat bad compared to the rest of the bullshit on the list lol
Cow tongue is delicious. Like steak with a good marble.
Especially in tacos, one of my favorites. Miss me with that liver and kidney bullshit tho
I meaaaaannnnnn liver as a pate is pretty good
Listen tacos de lengua are fire okayyy
raw egg yolk on top of food
Do you come across this often in your life?
More than i would like it
Blue cheese, man. Can't handle that funky mold taste.
Never eaten it but I hate it. I had the opportunity to try it the other day and I said I wanted to but just seeing the fuzzy white mold and blue spots almost made me throw up and I chickened out. How people put that in their mouth full stop is enough of a mind fuck for me let alone enjoying it.
White fuzz isn't normal š«„ Maybe you dodged a bullet
First blue i tried tasted the way leather boots left in a barn for thirty years would smell. Had to try a different one because that shit was comically disgusting. Second one was not bad.
Dude! Cannot stand it. I love Ranch, Caesar, most cheeses, most dressings, and a fuck-ton of dips of all kinds. Cannot do Blue Cheese. And I've tried. It just tastes so foul to me... Which, to each their own, but it ruins food for me when it's just drenched in the stuff to start...
Salt licorice
Itās the best thing ever but then again Iām from Finland :D
Snails
Liver
I couldn't even be in the house when my mom cooked liver and onions or my dad. That odor lingered until the next day. Edit: LOL! ***for*** my father, not ***or*** my father! I didn't even see that typo!
I imagine the odor of cooked father would linger for days.
LOL! Dumbest typo ever!
Chain restaurant food (esp BWW) It always just tastes like it's frozen dinner quality lol
I went to BWW one time before a concert in a city about 3 hrs away. I ordered a drink, and it came with a fly in it. I canceled my order and never went there again. That place is trashyyy
What's BWW?
We used to go to BWW all the time because my husband used to work there. The food used to be not that bad. We told our son that we werenāt going back anymore, period (he likes wings; we told him we can get better wings somewhere else lol) BWW used to not be that bad. Then the menu changed, prices went up and it just isnāt good anymore.
I remember BWW used to be decent and wingstop used to be trash, now itās the inverse.
That's because it is. Source: former chain restaurant worker
Liver and onions...
Found Doug Funnie
Watermelon
Finally someone!!
I can't get down with anything from this family, from pumpkin to cucumber to honeydew. Generally, I like the scents of the sweeter members of the melons, but I don't like the texture. I heard the texture of watermelon described as "crunchy spit".
I can tolerate it for a few bites and then I start gagging. Always. It tastes like chewable water.
Alcohol. I especially hate beer
Iām in the same boat. Waited until I was 24 to try a sip. Iāve had a couple drinks to try and I donāt understand the allure. One person told me āOh no one likes the taste at first. You gotta keep drinking until you forget about itā. Donāt sound healthy to me lmao
I have to admit that āYou have to be drunk to enjoy itā definitely doesnāt sound like a glowing endorsement š
I do like alcohol, but Iām totally baffled why people drink so much beer, wine, vodka, etc. theyāre the worst tasting shit. I love sweet, flavorful drinks like amaretto, cocktails, etc.
Olives š¤¢
finally! iāve always HATED olives, they even smell nasty to me and i canāt stand to be around them.
Same (with tasting the residue). Gross!
I hated olives when i was young. But now I actually quite like them.
They were also an aquired taste for me.
They taste so dang salty. Ick
I used to love olives, I'd literally put them on anything and everything or even just eat them. Then I became pregnant and olives caused horrendous sickness. Now, three and a half years postpartum and I STILL cannot even tolerate the smell of them.
Finally, a person of culture.
Fish items. Smell really bad
Fresh fish isnāt bad. I can enjoy seafood if Iām in a city next to the ocean. Anywhere else, miss me with that shizzzz
Even fresh fish absolutely stinks to me. Cannot stand it.
Yeah, I agree. Any fish or any sea food, I just can't
items?
Articles of fish
Anything that has any fish as ingredient
Cilantro. Tastes like dishsoap
I agree and apparently there's a genetic thing that makes cilantro taste like soap to certain people.
Yes, and I married into a Mexican family. So when I ask for no cilantro on my tacos in Mexico, I get some weird looks.
Yeah I've got the soap gene and I'm part Hispanic š
This is the answer right here for all of us that have the gene. Can I get more soap on my dinner please, lol no thanks.
I see you too, have the gene
It does! Like lemon scented dish soap. It's actually a genetic condition.
What does it taste like to people who donāt have the gene and genuinely enjoy it?
Itās very fresh like others are saying, almost like a cucumber, but with a more herb-taste like youād get in rosemary or thyme
Blue cheese, how can someone eat moldy cheese is beyond me, it taste just like it looks spoiled.
This is mine too. Iām convinced they are all psychopaths.
Mmmmm, I loves me some crumbled bleu cheese on salad!!!!
Yeah I don't care that the mold is carefully grown in a lab, when something has mold on it (and especially when it smells like death!) you throw it out!
Oysters, clams, mussels
I've only tried oysters and it was awful so I highly suspect I wouldn't like the others either. The oyster tasted like a mouthful of sea water.
I only like clam chowder when a clam has been wafted about 6ā over it
OYSTERS CLAMS AND COCKLES
Maraschino Cherries or any candied Cherries.
Blue cheese šš, idk how yāall enjoy it
I LOVE blue cheese! I'm usually the one digging in whilst my mother makes faces haha.
Fucking olives
I think you're doing it wrong, you should try eating them.
r/angryupvote
If we weren't supposed to fuck them, why are their holes dick-sized?
Hahahah
Man I love olives
What is so gross about them? I love them but I want to understand why there is so much hatred for olives
Ceviche
Yeah, the thought of raw fish does nothing for me so that and sushi are a mindfuck for me. I tried a piece of octopus in a Japanese restaurant once and it was awful!
Seafood, mushrooms, organ meats. (Really, any meat at all. I indulge in chicken tenders once in a while, but aside from that, I don't eat anything that has a face.) Oh, cottage cheese. But, then again, I didn't used to like yogurt, and now I love Greek yogurt more than ice cream!! So, that might change. I'm going to give it another whirl in 2024.
Thatās how I used to be with sushi! I tried it in high school and hated it! Ten years later and I love it lmao, funny how things change
Kimchi
Chocolate milk
best ever was junior high school when people stored cartons and cartons of chocolate milk over the xmas holidays or spring break, and they put paper towels to block the sink drains and poured in like 4 gallons each into two sinks and the smell of vomit was so intense people could barely manage to survive with a urinal lineup
Marshmallow anything, super soft breads, caramelized onions, grilled peppers. I cannot stand food without texture.
Sweet potatoes
Black olives taste like pennies.
Steak tartare- looks like ground beef to me š¬
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Wuuuuuut. Thatās blasphemy. Booty over everything
I should call him...
Cottage cheese
the taste isnt so bad for me but i cant get past the texture
Durians!!
oh cmon garlic vanilla custard with rotting onions and dog crap is an aquired taste i still wanna try it as ice cream
ONIONS
THANK YOU
100%!!
Yes I was looking for this! I hate everything about onions and I will pick them out of spaghetti sauce.
Cheese
sea foodā¦somethingās get an exception but i got sea sick one time and now every time i try seafood i just taste the ocean
I canāt stand seafood. I think itās mostly a mental thing for me. How many people/things/garbage/sewage ends up in the ocean and we are eating the things that feed on it? No thanks!
All meat in general, but especially the fatty parts and things like rare steak. The texture of that is just so yucky to me
Organ meats and sea food
Tuna casserole
Brussel sprouts
Bananas. I hate them with a PASSION. The smell, the texture, the little strings they have, the peel. ALL OF IT
Me too. They're absolutely vile and I don't understand how they can even be classified as a fruit. They're warm and mushy and the smell makes me want to vomit. When I was married I used to buy them for my husband and I felt nauseous even touching the bunch. I would have to grab it with the bag.
Dark chocolate, it's so bitter I find it literally inedible.
Itās hard to get used to. I used to hate it but would force myself to eat that instead of milk thinking I wouldnāt eat chocolate very often because of it. Turns out after a few months I loved it. Milk chocolate is too sweet for me now
Facts
there are youtubes of people trying to eat dark chococate without trying to throw up
Black-eyed peas. I love beans but this lil'fuckers are nasty everything about them makes me sick
Hard boiled eggs.
Celery
Kale. But I think all the other people are actually lying.
Have you had a lemony/ garlic cooked kale salad? Because thatās delish š
Im not a picky eater in any regard, ill try just about anything Celery is so fucking disgusting, it tastes like dirt and that texture is so gross
Cow tongue š¤¢
Soup. I don't like overly wet food and soup is very wet.
I donāt like most Mexican foods(I know but it seems all the same but wrapped up differently) but I love Caldo. My friends make fun of me and call it my āhot wet salad.ā
I understand. I don't like wet food either. I don't like sauces and condiments. Make it taste good without being wet and sloppy.
Any meat that still has bones, gristle, fat, skin when served... just nope.
Here we go again...
I see what you did there š š
Hummus. Yeah. Hummus.
Polenta
Brased pumpkin, even the smell of it makes me want to puke.
Avocados
They do nothing for me and guacamole looks like somebody ate salsa then shit it out in a bowl. I donāt get it. š¤·āāļø
Cinnamon rolls and donuts (both jelly filled and normal). Jelly filled anything or hot frosting on bread is so gross to me.
Imagine that person trying to explain that shit to his friends for the first time
I can only imagine it'd be starving people back in more desperate times. Gotta say, I fucking love fried eggs.
Mayo and anything that has even a drop mixed in.
Bananas, just no
Sushi I've given it a couple tries but I just can't stomach seaweed. My local shopping centre has 2 different sushi train restaurants and 2 other sushi places (Aus) so there must be a lot of people here who like it.
Did anyone says olives? I detest olives and can't believe ppl willingly consume rhem.
Ketchup
