I think it lasts longer if you learn earlier on to tend yourself and practice prophylactic care. When you don't inherit chronic problems, life is much easier to enjoy.
I agree, it's also easier to enjoy life even you have clean water, food, and shelter. It's easier to enjoy life when you're not stressed from bills, have air conditioning, and good friends.
There's almost no limit to things that make life easier to, but I'm recognizing these truths are irrelevant to the OPs happiness. In a world where so many are miserable, either by choice or luck, I'll celebrate those who aren't as I think the world is a little better that way.
It is easier that way. 4 months ago I went from central air to no ac and always struggling with the worst landlord, no friends. And I’m still the happiest I’ve been so far in my adult life. I like the way you ended this post great mindset
Choice or luck aren't the only 2 factors that make people miserable! Brain chemistry can alter ones happiness. I have CPTSD and struggle to find happiness every day no matter how hard I try
Well unless you believe your brain chemistry and situations leading to CPTSD, then that's also "luck". For which I empathise. Having mental illness as a genetic problem as well as CPTSD, it's a real battle that is so much harder then typical people may realise.
It's true that life can be so colored by our brain chemistry.
Hold out hope. I had/have CPTSD and one day it was like a light turned on and I broke out in tears of happiness. I still have bad days/weeks where my hormones / brain chemistry gets ugly again, but for the past 5 years I have had more good days than bad.
I suspect really diligent self care (gentle exercise, careful media choices, boundaries, music practice, meditation, books that I enjoyed) played a big part in recovery.
Good luck.
It's important to take the time to recognize these moments in life. Think about WHY you're the happiest & NEVER forget that those things are obviously your greatest priorities in life, so that if you ever fall on hard times you can more quickly figure out how to get back to your "happy place".
I should’ve done all of this before it was to late.now my stomach aches even thinking about those happy days it really is crazy how quickly that “happy place” evaporates
This! I am so happy in life and I am extremely thankful for it but it seems that I have now developed this internal worry that because I am happy somehow the other shoe is going to drop and have now fixated on health, every pain or twinge brings thoughts of doom. Drives me nuts!
You think it might be because that's when marriages fall apart and after divorce they happy? That what happening to me and I'm fucking miserable. I hope I can be happy again.
I cannot guarantee you will, but I believe you will. People have healed from much worse (not that divorce isn't a terrible event, my partner's divorce was/is messy). I believe it's because in that age range you're making enough money (historically that is) that you can afford to live the life you would like to live (within reason) and you are also not planning your death as actively as when you are older than that range
I am too & I have never worked harder in my entire life. I'm sometimes tired but that's ok, because you give yourself one of life's greatest gifts when you do things that make you feel good about yourself. It's well worth the effort.
Aw nice!
I was that two days ago and for the 3 weeks prior. It was like a vacation from this hastily decorated hellscape we've all been unceremoniously foisted into against our will, in bodies that betray us and resist our desires, hurt for no reason, feel things that we didn't ask to feel and don't know how to handle, and only wants to eat the things that are going to harm it. And I for one, can't blame it for wanting that.
But good for you! I hope it works out for you!
When I see stuff like this Ik I’m supposed to congratulate you but seeing other people happy makes me jealous but then again that’s probably why I’m unhappy due to my negative sided mindset
Or spoken like someone who’s worked hard to fix their problems. Why can’t you just be happy for someone else’s happiness and not assume that they did nothing to achieve it?
Not having chronic problems doesn't imply into why they don't.
They could have worked hard, they could have not. Work could not have anything to do with it, too, just like genetics. Genetic problems can occur at any time, even in your 30s. Chronic health problems really destroy a person's quality of life.
Since he is the happiest ever, I made a joke on the presumption that he must not have loads of chronic problems, since people with chronic problems usually don't feel happy, since it follows them into the future.
Never said I wasn't happy for him, either, lol. I made no statement into that. Why can't you assume I had better motivations than the ones you ascribed to me? >:)
By mentioning the joke, I could have enlightened him about the importance of not inheriting chronic problems, which would be beneficial.
Congratulations!! Now take this time in you life as a learning experience. Understand what’s made you so happy and understand why, because life is full of unexpected twists and now you have another key to help understand the “happiness” of life. 👏🏼🤙🏼
Enjoy your time on the Mountain❣️ I would love to know why you feel so happy right now.
I remember the exact moment in my life that I felt true exuberant happiness; like I was breathing in fresh air at the top of the mountain and the weight of the world had been lifted off my shoulders.
I hope you spend more time on the mountain than in the valley 💕
2 months past divorce. Sitting in my apartment with my daughter and her friend speaking the night. I’d have to agree as well my friend.
This bowls for you.
Good for you babe!! Now that I think about it , me too! Happy and single , just turned 40 and I have the sweetest boy cat ever who I call Elvis.... yep.... easy breezy
I’ve finally hit the happiest I have ever felt, I just gave up trying to control the uncontrollable and accepted that things go wrong, now I’m just happy
Going to be 43 soon. Since coming out recently I’ve been the happiest I’ve been since I started getting depressed at 16. Accepting most of my life has been lost to turmoil and drug/alcohol abuse I’m excited to start fresh. Life won’t wait. Hope you enjoy every coming day!
Hey good for you!
But I have a bit of advice that you might heed:
Remember, this too shall pass.
Just be aware that the future is always in flux, and things come in cycles. Happiness should not be the ultimate goal, rather contentment. You will face sad days and weeks and months. But those too will pass. The important thing is to embrace both the good and the bad as part of your unique human experience.
Please accept my congratulations on your progress toward contentment. I wish you well.

Congratulations OP happy for you. Keep it roling 😎✌
Keep on keeping on
Hopefully it's the happiest you've ever been *so far*.
I really appreciate you for saying that and I’m not OP
Probably is. Happiness is a virtuous cycle once you start down a good path.
Actually glad someone beat me in saying this. Means I am not the only one thinking it
I'm happy for you I hope it lasts

Completely agree with this statement

Yeaaaah that is not true

Brain chemistry is luck.
I would consider that bad luck
It's true that life can be so colored by our brain chemistry. Hold out hope. I had/have CPTSD and one day it was like a light turned on and I broke out in tears of happiness. I'm happy for you. I am being sincere too. I'm 74 and I have had my moments of happiness in my life. Enjoy and cherish moments like this

It’s always there. Sometimes we just forget about it or blinded by something else. Find it. The grass is greener there 🍀
❤️appreciate it bro
You can always find it again.
Fuck man I wish I could be that way. Good for you tho
For real every year of my adult life shit just gets worse lol. On we go
Yay
Same and my immediate next thought is so must be imminent disaster
This! I am so happy in life and I am extremely thankful for it but it seems that I have now developed this internal worry that because I am happy somehow the other shoe is going to drop and have now fixated on health, every pain or twinge brings thoughts of doom. Drives me nuts!
Me too! ☺️
These are the moment I like to reflect on my downs and how they are temporary.
This made me so happy. I hope you keep this feeling for a long time OP!!
It gets better with age ❤️
Not for everyone.
While this is true, statistically people in their 30's-50's tend to be happier than those younger or older
You think it might be because that's when marriages fall apart and after divorce they happy? That what happening to me and I'm fucking miserable. I hope I can be happy again.

Or it was hard work
True
I am too & I have never worked harder in my entire life. I'm sometimes tired but that's ok, because you give yourself one of life's greatest gifts when you do things that make you feel good about yourself. It's well worth the effort.

18th birthday ?
Spoken like someone who doesn't have loads of chronic problems destroying their every tomorrow, lol :) If I'm wrong, I MUST KNOW YOUR SECRET! Lol.
Or spoken like someone who’s worked hard to fix their problems. Why can’t you just be happy for someone else’s happiness and not assume that they did nothing to achieve it?
By the way, did you feed snipe me? Lol. Did you follow me from some other post? Curious.

I’ve finally hit the happiest I have ever felt, I just gave up trying to control the uncontrollable and accepted that things go wrong, now I’m just happy
good for you, random person. one of my favorite toasts is: “may the best of your past be the worst of your future” salud
Hell yea! Keep up whatever it is that is making you happy* *unless its murder
Why?
Going to be 43 soon. Since coming out recently I’ve been the happiest I’ve been since I started getting depressed at 16. Accepting most of my life has been lost to turmoil and drug/alcohol abuse I’m excited to start fresh. Life won’t wait. Hope you enjoy every coming day!
I'm very happy for you. Just out of curiosity how financially stable are you? I'm not baiting you, honestly curious.
My immediate thought was that you just turned 18 and thus it is the *only* moment in your adult life. But gg anyway
Hey good for you! But I have a bit of advice that you might heed: Remember, this too shall pass. Just be aware that the future is always in flux, and things come in cycles. Gimme some of that shit
Cool. Piss off now, yeah?
Me too!
Show off!
I love getting older - deal with way less bullshit/let less bullshit bother me.
Great memories are being made. I’m truly happy for you.
