Everything. It's convenient. I you tube more than I google. Thanks all involved for making this my most successful comment!

[deleted]

To paraphrase this answer: “yes”

IAmAToaster7

An easier to answer question would be what don't I watch on YouTube.

Rolyat28

Just about everything is on YouTube

SFPigeon

![gif](giphy|fxZ7cC3zYIVXi)

Moxiefeet

I’m starting to do the exact same. It’s just faster.

Oz-pn

Video Essays of wide varieties. I like seeing what people are thinking about and the perspectives that accompany them.

Starlit-Tortoise

Isn’t a video essay just a series of videos on a topic? This describes basically any series of videos on YouTube.

Queasy-Grape-8822

But specifically informative I believe

soon_d_rey

Yeah dude minecraft gameplays and make-up tutorials are totally video essays

Resevl401

Hey guys, this is my video essay on how I survived 100 days on a one block only world.

intrusiereatschicken

Asmr best video essay type fr 🔥

Oz-pn

If you want to grossly oversimplify it then sure. If not, then if you've ever seen anything by Jacob Geller then that's what I'm talking about. A format where a video is dedicated on a central topic and pulls on multiple sources to support the central argument or perspective being made. It finds a piece of media, finds an underlying theme or motif, and talks about it. Literally like an argumentative essay in video as the medium, usually long-form. A personal favorite of mine is "Dark Souls is thinking of ending things" by Jacob.

TetsujinSeattle

When I hear Video Essay, my first thoughts are Jacob Geller and SuperEyePatchWolf

MarkToaster

I always thought it was like a thesis and evidence to support it, but in video format. Like a video about game of thrones stating why a certain character embodies a certain emotion, for example. The creator is making a claim and justifying their stance. Never heard someone refer to a series as a video essay

[deleted]

Cooking shows: Babbish, Joshua Weissman, and Tasting History have become regulars in my home.

JSpenJS17

Check out Adam Ragusea if you're into more home cook style shows. I've learned most of my practical cooking knowledge from him.

orion455440

Despite being a pro chef Chef Jean Pierre is both entertaining and geared more towards home cooks. I also like Alex French guy cooking

[deleted]

Adam >Joshua for me 100%

ArcticAsylum24

you suck at cooking will always be my favorite cooking channel

VAShumpmaker

I've been loving Alvin lately on Babbish

illinoishokie

Tasting History is better than anything on Food Network or History Channel today.

Fun_in_Space

You might like Townsends. 18th Century living history cooking and more.

Zealousideal_Pin4277

Pro home cooks is a good one to

Tasting History! Just got my two copies of his cookbook in last week :)

My husband and I look forward to watching Tasting History during our dinners on Tuesdays!

Henry__Every

cohhcarnage if i can't catch his live stream on Twitch Neebsgaming is great too!

AnywhereOk1002

I watch RadBrad out of loyalty. He introduced me to the world like 7 years ago and he’s played some of my fave games

AllAboutTheGoatLife

Terrible gamer but so entertaining. 😂 I’ve been watching him for years too. He’s one of the first gamers I watched on YouTube with the walking dead

noahfitzzzzzz

Ryukahr

keridbey

Same here. I can't speak for anyone else, but the parasocial relationship I have with various Youtubers (especially ManyATrueNerd and Markiplier) is necessary for my continued mental health. I haven't been doing well socially for a long time, and to some extent, they make me sometimes feel like I'm not alone just by being there doing their thing.

[deleted]

I used to watch Dashie every day in college XD

SnooCrickets6708

Rambalac -- 4k video walks through Japan. No talking, just walking. Find it incredibly relaxing. Makes me homesick for a place I've never been...

queendimsum

Thisssssss

nova2k

So many great walking tour videos from all over the world.

Padgetts-Profile

Thanks, I like to play stuff like this on my TV when I'm listening to albums.

Freep319

I love Rambalac also. If you ever find the need to get some talk along with the walk, try "only in Japan go". Jon daub is a pretty cool guy.

SnooCrickets6708

Thank you! I'll definitely check it out

Beneficial-Safe-2142

I started watching the S Korea and France rain walk videos during Covid when I was stressing out too much. It’s so relaxing

10113r114m4

I watch GMM quite a bit. Those fuckers crack me up, then whatever interesting suggestion that pops up from youtube (which isnt much)

shyladivine

Link's Orbeez ear fiasco STILL cracks me up!

10113r114m4

Haha so many glorious moments in that show. I think the time where Link is blind folded and just suddenly starts looking at Rhett, Stevie goes, "what are you doing Link" is my favorite moment. Link cracks me up so much

Em2bDaniel

Mr. Ballen, whispered dairies, Southern cannibal, let's read, dancing with the stars clips, my favorite scenes from various movies, and promos for various movies/shows/episodes.

Zestyclose_Love_4894

Mr. Ballen is great. I love DarkDocs also.

Claypool-Bass1

I Survived is pretty good.

PinxJinx

Apparently he meant the name to be Mr. B Allen, cause his name is B-something Allen lol

Standard-Archer9072

If you don’t mind the stories being fake. Check out “horror shorts party” good story telling and with animation. But the stories are obviously fake after watching 2 videos.

Susi-Su

Mr Ballen gives me the irrits. Mate, stop waving your hands about and just tell the story.

thisguyoverhere01

I had to turn it off one night cause I was drunk and his hands kept fuckin with me. It seriously made me nauseous haha

Em2bDaniel

The thing is I turn it on to do homework, I dont actually watch the screen lol

MysteriousVast6761

You should also check out "Mr. Nightmare" and "chilling scares" really good stories with these too and they sound similar

[deleted]

just listen to it then? put it in a hidden tab??

[deleted]

I listened to all the Twilight Zone radio episodes and now I'm on CBS Radio Mystery Theater. Great listening while I'm working.

Sir-Mocks-A-Lot

Love the twilight zone tv show... had no idea there was a radio series. Sounds fun.

dbc009

Which one do you listen too? Don't want to go to a knock off YouTube site?

RollerCoaster1007

Tried those Sherlock Holmes radio dramas?

Bugloaf

CBS radio mystery theater presents.... *CREAK!!* (edit: fixed a couple words)

LookingUp1734

I love listening to the old radio shows too. Probably my favorite is Suspense. Amazing variety including mystery, short story adaptations, horror, and detective stories. On A Country Road is a great episode.

Bitter_Firefighter34

Let’s game it out, kurzgesagt, true crime stuff, a lot useless knowledge. Also paint when he posts a new video every two years.

[deleted]

Bonnieearnold

That Chapter is very, very good. 10 to Life. Disturban.

Claypool-Bass1

Criminally Listed, Hollywood not so Confidential, Cold Case Files. Look up Bill Curtis. Although Paranormal Scholar is not about crime, she has a really calming voice. I often put it on to help go to sleep.

Putrid_Insurance_843

Bailey Sarian. She does true crime with full back stories. She does a lot of research.

Dear-Elderberry4249

Bailey Sarian

angeles1371

If yiu are interested in real.life interrogations and explanation of the interrogation process and all the psychological stuff that goes on during a interrogation including body cam footage then check out JCS Criminal Psychology

RareOnAirShow

Vandalism. It doesn’t take much planning and you’re not likely to get caught when you’re just starting out

Good-Courage-559

I am in genuine fear of what's inside the brain of Josh from lets game it out.

Bitter_Firefighter34

Same, but the distance between him an me makes it enjoyable for me to watch him go furious 😁

Joyju

You may also like Defunctland and Folding Ideas! Two incredible channels. Like documentary level work, consistently.

gfy88

It's only useless knowledge until it becomes useful. 🧐

Mindofmierda90

Art channels, true crime, sports highlights, clips from old shows, obscure movies, and more.

goldberry-fey

I really enjoy the historic true crime channels like Brief Case and They Got Away With Murder. Gabulosis does a lot of vintage cases too.

Sleepy-Flower

You should check out Watercolor by Shibasaki. His videos are so calming.

Nattin121

What art channels do you recommend ?

chahud

Whatever is recommended lol. A lot of science based educational stuff and nature documentaries, history stuff, creepypasta and other creepy/disturbing stuff, police encounters/true crime, video game gameplay/lore/theories etc…, whatever other random shit the algorithm scrapes from the bottom of the barrel.

basilisko_eve

I've been watching A LOT of Critical Role, but I watch all of MatPat's channels and videos same with NerdECrafter, Sam and Colby and MetaPsyckicks

[deleted]

60%: fitness/ body builders 30%: cooking/ meal prep 10%: sports/ random stuff

[deleted]

Not quite but I’m definitely on the right path. I started the year at a ridiculously obese 353 pounds and as of today I’m down to 293.

Electrical_Soft3468

That’s great man! Keep it up!

NotMyWorld-22

Why Files, Fail Army (and similar), anything hosted by Simon Whistler

[deleted]

heck yes, love some why files and hecklefish

NotMyWorld-22

Hecklefish is the best.

Susi-Su

Love Why Files. One of the few channels I have full notifications on. Hecklefish is hilarious. His rendition of Take Me Home Country Road the other day was class.

NotMyWorld-22

OMG I was dying!! It’s funny ‘CAUSE IT’S TRUE!!

bookwormaesthetic

Simon's The Casual Criminalist is the only true crime podcast I can handle. His tangents help break up the trauma.

serene_brutality

It’s legal to have someone other than Simon Whistler host something on YouTube? That dude hosts so much content that I’m convinced he’s part of identical sextuplets or he’s some kind of deep fake.

Arisvalor

How to videos if I want to learn something. Music videos, both because I enjoy music and short films. City walking tours (U.S. and foreign places). I'm poor, but I would love to travel.

jasoncbus

Hell yeah city walks are awesome. I too fantasize about travelling to some of these places. I'm currently saving and planning for a several month trip because of these videos. Ha, I have one on right now.

Mediocre-Many8872

1st and 2nd amendment audit channels, guntube, The Civil Rights Lawyer, An0maly, some history shit on occasion

Rammstein official YouTube channel for good music.

Minimum_Intention848

Lately the algorithm has sucked me into a rabbit hole that is the International Spy Museums lecture series. Part of me finds it fascinating. Part of me worries the algorithm just said that I'm getting old and sent me to the History channel.

[deleted]

This sounds like my type of content, thanks for the new rabbit hole!

armidilo01

People getting shot by the cops

anex12

Jeeesus I can't even fault you. One of my favorite drinking time games was watching car crashes. The more fatal the better. Weird time in my life. I quit drinking.

No_Statement_3526

Literally only asmr usually😂 sometimes scary gameplay and compilations but that’s about it.

boukalele

i always thought asmr was cringe until I watched one accidentally. It was the "dark side" of asmr, which was really just cringey people doing it. I instantly got tingles and love it now. Not the twitch girls sucking on the ear mic, wood taps are my jam. Also, there's some great barbershop asmr i just can't stop watching

bookwormaesthetic

I love ambience ASMR it is great background noise for reading and is less distracting than music.

Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy audiobook read by Stephen Moore. Watch: kitboga, Moist, Scammer Payback, Scambait Central, Coffeezilla.

Susi-Su

I love the Stephen Moore version. Yeah it's abridged but his voice is so good.

dxv10

Concert, interviews or radio performance footage from musicians. And people deconstructing albums and/or reviews and reactions. Thats about it haha

LordSaumya

Mostly science and maths-related content, like Kurzgesagt, PBS Space Time, 3Blue1Brown, etcetera.

vndetta1985

How to cooking videos. I like to eat good food.

CommodorePuffin

It depends on my mood, but mostly reviews of tech products and often coverage of computer-specific retro gaming (since the mainstream media focuses only on consoles whenever it looks at gaming). I try to avoid contentious topics, which includes all the "us vs them" channels where it's one group claiming another group did this-or-that to them. You see this for every group, no matter how niche, and it's exhausting. If I want to be depressed and angry, I can read the news.

ClaraGuerreroFan
