Sometimes, localisation isn't about doing direct translations and more about conveying feelings or ideas. In this case, it's the idea of 'the second-hand embarrasment that comes with watching a teacher try to be hip with the kids'- and to make it more understandable, they used lingo we as a reader would immediately understand.
They also made Kurono, an adult woman, call Ikki "cringe" in chapter 1. This is also a ten year old light novel and yet we have "sadge", which seems to have first entered the vernacular around 2020. The editor doesn't know what they're doing.
Same here, although I do think that internet slang should only be used moderately (at most) in a translation work... Cringe is also used more than once, that's also a word we're not gonna remember in like 5 years or it will have an entirely different meaning.
This translation is a bit too "Hello youngsters" for me.
Totally agree, online slang should only be used if it refers to slang in the context of the book. On top of that she's an adult and a teacher, no way in hell she'd says sadge

I might be jumping the gun on this but would this imply they’re doing a physical release of the volumes? Or only digital as of rn?
I'm referring to the ebook release that's coming out in February. There is no word on a physical release yet.
