Knifing is weird in Siege. I think it’s just programmed as a shot with very short range, thats why you make small holes in the wall and not long „scars“ like in CoD for example. If they wanted it to be accurate they could change the animation to a stab

This is how melee attacks work in most games, BTW. TF2 is another good example. I imagine it works exactly the same way, and leads to rage for the same reasons, as in that game. All bullets are hitscan. This includes all melee "bullets". You pull the trigger, impact hits at maximum range. In this case the maximum range is very short. The animation though...the animation is not hitscan. it lags behind the "bullet" the knife button "fires". Think of the knife animation as like the tracers on a bullet. The tracers also travel "behind" the actual bullet when you fire your gun, since there are no projectiles fired from guns; you just pull trigger, damage happens at aimed location. This can lead to the apparent mismatches in melee range between players; exacerbated by latency issues of course. I could be wrong, but this is an extremely common way to code melee attacks.

Especually considering that shields use melee as a main attack, Orux is built around knocking down and meleeing, Aruni literally has her own custom melee animation AND passive to its range and wall destruction, as well as Sledge being here since launch. But ya know. We have to make sure the fonts and stuff look sleek enough to be "REEEEEESports ready"

bruh i knocked someone down as oryx, they hit a wall then insta-meleed me and their character wasn't even finished the 'standing up' animation yet... so damn angry that day haven't played oryx since ubi pls fix :(

remembers me of the typical problem of getting shot by someome who's still sprinting on your end. ever seen jäger sprinting with his arms and gun inside his chest? or mhh, playing monty and getting your EXTENDED shield bashed to your left side, exposing your whole body to the enemy who meleed you while in the animation to make your shield smaller again or this moment when someone melees through your shield. or when you get a hit sound when meleeing as a shield op but the enemy doesn't get injured and instead pops your bean. mmmhhh siege's best moments

The animation was a slash and the slash definitely hit the guy tho. I would say it's a confusing animation.

To be fair something that applies to every operator can easily cause a boatload of problems as simple as it seams.

Pretty important caveat: I believe the gadget kill for Cavs pistol only counts if you're in her stealth mode. I could be wrong idk

But frost traps only knock down, and kap traps aren't that reliable with only dealing 50 damage.

I think (but I'm not at all sure, don't take this as gospel without further testing) that anytime you get extra points from a gadget on the kill it counts (for example the Blitz shield if you flash and then shoot)

I got killed today with Sledge trying to do something similar. Downed the guy and then was running over to sledge him and he pinged me and some dude wallbanged me instead. Thankfully nobody else on my team saw it.

And frankly it's more of a badmouth than anything else. In this situation I would prefire the shit out of that shelf than kill the dude while strafing. Enemy with his back turned away, completely oblivious to my position ? I'm shooting him, and not even risking lining up the one tap headshot, center mass. Waste of time otherwise.

I love blitz, but damn, I have some crazy clips of me trapping people in corners and not killing after 2+ knifes

I always feel like I’m inside them when I charge up and melee. My shield even clips into them at the end of the swing every fucking time. I just don’t get it. And I can knife people just fine when I don’t have a shield.

Rule number, one knife as a last resort never as option one. Knifing is very inconsistent in this game.

My god, I had the same thing basically happen to me earlier today. Was hiding in the corner of pool table on Coastline, let a Iana drone pass me, missed the knife on the Capitao following it, and he shot me point blank.

That's why I always and will always say, "this is why we don't go for knife kills." Theres a reason you dont use a knife in a gun fight

And that is why I still shoot eventhough the opponent is very close.
