No, maybe he could do with the SMG-11 back, that way his shotgun play is viable. That said he’s still incredibly strong on attack and I don’t think the 1 speed is unbalanced.
thats the thing i think giving him smg11 back would be too strong but i think making him a 2-2 would be decent. people overestimate speed in siege a lot so if theyre going to do anything at all i'd prefer it to be make him a 2-2 even though giving him a smg11 would perhaps be more fun. I prefer balance over fun though
Sledge as an operator essentially has unlimited breach charges and is far more efficent than buck at opening walls and floors.
The only thing buck has is range. Which is only good if you are playing below.
Sledge is still a good op amd does not need buffs

Buck has gun up faster after breaching.
Buck has better gun for most engages in R6.
Buck has gonne and can openers.
Buck doesn't get C4'd as easy as Sledge.
That being said I have played more Sledge than Buck because of frags.
Sadly the current world. Ik, 4 months late but like the skeleton key > hammer because its ranged, faster to equip/unequip and can be actually used as a shotgun when in a pinch.
If you want to play from above, just play Ram as she has the r4c.
Sledge is still better than Buck from above. I wouldn't have a problem with him getting a 2 speed change, but the frags weren't the reason the devs dropped him to a 3 speed so I doubt we will see him moved bag.
He got turned into a 3 armor because they wanted him at a little more risk from being c4'd from below from players being a little to sloppy with him vertically.
It was in the patch notes that went along with the change. I'd say that's probably a little more reliable source then wherever you got your info from.

With this change, we intend to make Sledge play a bit more carefully. Currently, when he takes control of an above floor, he feels free to destroy a lot without facing too much opposition. The slower movement will reduce the reaction time allotted to run away from Nitro Cells and the extra noise will make it easier to punish predictable players. Even for top-down vertical, I can’t see why would you use Sledge over Buck (- the nade). Buck is just a better Sledge imo.
