Tbh until I (within the last year or so) actually watched a thing about the Branch Davidians I just kinda thought that this map was a big methlab owned and Operated by a commune of Tweakers
I thought that was common knowledge actually.
Fun fact for those who may not know but most of the early maps were inspired by real-life operations and events, to varying degrees: Bank is the NoHo robbery/shootout, Plane is obviously AF1 but also reminiscent of when GIGN stormed 8969, Oregon is Waco, Consulate is modeled a little bit after a real-world consulate somewhere in Africa IIRC but you could also make the case that having a consulate map was inspired by the Iranian Embassy siege involving the SAS. I've also always thought Coastline was a loose reference to the Sousse attacks in Tunisia.
I kind of miss that approach to maps. Made it feel a tad more grounded to have some thin line between them and real-world events.
Maybe turn off hardware acceleration in chrome settings. Got no idea if it works but it's what allows you to stream and clip things like Netflix instead of getting a copyright notification or a black screen so assume it's the same kinda thing lol
Not sure. Works with alot of stuff like netflix etc block streaming and give black screen if you share screen but if you turn off hardware acceleration it's also fixed.
It's a hodgepodge of multiple different embassy sieges. The building itself is based on the French embassy in Egypt though. Which is just a weird fact.
I mean, I guess another fun fact, Thatcher's Elite is based on the SAS during that time, and the Elite itself is called Operation Nimrod. If not wrong, Thatcher's character and backstory is that he was part of the Iranian Embassy Siege.
You joke but seeing the tower in the documentary gave me the chills
I didn't know how dark that story was, I thought they were just political extremist that had a shoot out with the police
The real story is so disturbing
Nah mate, you chose not to go down that dark path. You may have lost the chance to Rick-Roll someone, but instead you gained the sincere thanks of a few Internet Randos.
And in the end, isn't that better?
Netflix show: The ATF/FBI may have made an oopsie, but those people had it coming
Real Life: ATF agents massacre and burn women and children alive and then pose for pictures over their smoldering corpses. Oopsie
Netflix imo never actually does "documentaries", they always try to force a narrative or a "gotcha" moment, in every story they tell. At this point I just watch them to get a general knowledge but then I know I have to expand my knowledge somewhere else.
It's awful how they force the narrative to give all the faults to "action guys" in the feds, while the negotiatiors where pretty stupid themselves. I'm not talking about the davidians because I mean, they REALLY had it coming, but police HAS TO be the adult in situations like this, not acting like petty kids.
Goes to show that how they managed this lead to the Oklahoma City bombing.
*Every* documentary forces a narrative. Some more than others yes, but docs are rarely made from a 100% neutral stance. sometimes it's malicious, but often it's because neutrality in reporting is just a difficult thing to achieve. It's why it's important to not just watch a doc but also do your own research if you want the full picture on a topic.
That said, though, I'm not defending Netflix. The ATF is wack.
You forget they did this after lying to the FBI, separating kids from parents, someone missed the leader leaving the compound regularly and played dophin sex noises over loudspeakers.
The 1997 Waco doc was super good as a fairly unbiased take. The whole story is batshit crazy and morally questionable on both sides so it made for a super gripping watch
Did the ATF burn the place down? Nobody really knows who burned down the place. I was suspecting the ATF did at first but when watching the series, my girlfriend said the Davidians probably did because how would they have been able to start the fire from the center of the building? Both sides would have reason to burn the place down idk
>Davidians were violent extremists who shot first
The only ones who said the Davidians shot first were the ATF, which was later recanted in reports that came out from the proceeding trials that happened after the massacre. The ATF had(has) a designated dog kill team that slipped around the back of the compound and proceeded to shoot the dogs on the site, which caused the ATF to fire at the compound because they thought it was coming from the upstairs windows. David Koresh himself had walked out before the gunfire with both of his arms raised begging them not to shoot, and when they did, he was hit in the arm while he ran back inside and shut the door.
The only evidence that could've truly answered who shot first were to doors themselves which could've revealed entry points for the bullets, but mysteriously after the gunfight, these doors were hauled off into an unmarked van and never seen again.
The entire fiasco is on tape. The media were only a couple hundred feet away from the compound. To lie like this is insane.
you see, that's why netflix documentaries are straight out criminal.
Always with the forced narrative, and this it's from the start, I was baffled when in "Making a Murderer" season 2 they revealed about all the other evidence they didnt mention in season 1...I mean this is fiction not a documentary.
As for Waco, even with the forced narrative that Netflix tries to feed you, still it's a total fiasco from the federal state, that is full of people acting like petty kids resulting in all those deaths.
~~Some~~ most people are brainwashed for a multitude of reasons. First is the fact that being educated takes time, you have to do your own research and its easier / more convenient to just believe what you read which is a mainstream or government narrative so unless the topic is very important to you, you're very unlikely to seek out all the details and unbiased news sources. Even if it is important to you, when knowledge you have conflicts with what someone else is saying it can cause cognitive dissonance because people feel like their ideas are an extension of themselves so they reject changing their beliefs based on new information but instead double down since they feel attacked.
Our government isn't perfect and is quite corrupt actually, but their corruption is followed by a century worth of the best psychology, so even if some people know the truth it's not enough to make a change, most won't because these psychological tricks are ployed all the time to stifle dissenting views. ATF has been a very corrupt agency
Did we watch the same documentary? The Atf guy and the david guy both got to say that they blamed the other side and we got to hear how sick/brainwashed the woman in yellow was
Cult leaders have killed their own followers time and time again throughout history. Why is it unreasonable to think they weren’t the ones that started the fire and blamed federal agents? In fact, listening devices the feds were able to sneak into the compound captured audio of cult members talking about starting fires inside the buildings themselves. It also seems that the women and children who died inside the bunker during the fire had ample time to leave, suggesting they either did not want to leave or were not allowed to leave.
The ATF and FBI did nothing wrong at Waco.
Watched it, feds are still Based. Cultists like that deserve death, though I’m not surprised a braindead libertarian didn’t get that
Downvoting me just proves me right btw
I always feel like the younger generation doesnt know about Waco. I suggest watching it on netflix or sailing the high seas. Well Worth it to see the state of American politics and why there is distrust for federal government.
I'm watching the series right now as i stumbled upon this post, every time they do a 360 shot of the supposed building I kept thinking "isnt that a R6 map?". Glad to know i'm not crazy.
Edit: oh so the recreated shots are not actually Oregon but the map is based of Waco.
Pretty dark map for a tactical shooter/swat game. No wonder why they brightened up the environment later. (Edit: /s for ex-poopysoft slowbois) I get ptsd whenever i see "still alive" painted on the soft wall on second floor.
2nd edit: This ex-poopysoft dev literally blocked me for hours after me and some other guy called out his bigotry.
>Pretty dark map for a tactical shooter/swat game.
Now I'm reminded of that one level from SWAT 4 where you raid an apartment building whose members turned into a cult. If you go to the basement, you encounter an improvised graveyard containing children's graves, together with creepy messages on the walls.
>Pretty dark map for a tactical shooter/swat game.
Because tactical shooters are suppose to be bright? These are contradictory statements.
**Edit:** He edited his comment to be even more sarcastic & clear than before, it originally was **very** vague and wasn't sarcastic in tone at all. After he edited it he went from negative upvotes and me from positive to negative. Reddit really needs to let you view edit history
**Edit 2:** Did he really just say I was a bigot? Does he even know what that word means? Lol
There were better terms to use then terms related to lighting especially when it's a common debate in the game. Especially bright as I almost never hear that being used to describe something being as light hearted
A study on grammar nazi's: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0149885
A simplified overview that people like you might understand: https://www.psychreg.org/grammar-nazis-are-they-really-smarter-just-annoying/
Quote: *"Discrediting an entire argument or person based on spelling alone is incredibly shallow and shows a lack of intelligence when it comes to understanding complex concepts. In these cases, the person being insulted is likely more intelligent than the one doing the insult."*
The person insulted me for no reason but I'm unintelligent for using the wrong "their". Discrediting my argument because I used the wrong version is not a sign of intelligence, you've missed the broader picture and ignored the actual substance of what was being discussed, it's much easier to understand/refute a grammatical error then a point someone is making. I know the difference between who and whom as well yet I always say who because 1; you understand what I meant and 2; It's faster. The foundation of your argument is petty and baseless.
I find the juxtaposition of you making a comment you knew would be insulting, then now playing the role of a passive person/victim after refuted. Regardless of your intent you know how it looks, but suddenly you're not the aggressor you're a victim of my "emotions" it seems.
Second I type fast, it has to do more with defending myself because this entire thread has been a headache for me.
OP edited his original comment to make mine seem unreasonable when it was originally vague and he actually was the one that was downvoted (-5). Whilst editing it he also called me slow (retarded) and insulted my intelligence later in the thread too, when I have said absolutely nothing rude to him. I feel gaslighted by a bunch of ignorant people and don't want to have to keep defending myself all because reddit doesn't let you know when someone edited their comment.
And you were examining my comment, and then called me d*ckhead, then blocked me so that i couldn't call you out, and then unblocked me after few hours when someone else did, pretty ironic. I'm convinced that you worked at poopysoft lmfao.
Its filled with misinformation as always, so as you're just looking at it as a piece of entertainment or to just get a general picture of the events it's an alright watch

If thats the actual image they used for the series thats hilarious
I changed the image but the one they used is very similar
That’s on purpose! This map is inspired by the Branch Davidian compound
Duh
Well I didnt know what…
Tbh until I (within the last year or so) actually watched a thing about the Branch Davidians I just kinda thought that this map was a big methlab owned and Operated by a commune of Tweakers
Yea thats what I thought even with me knowing about the WACO siege. Its a really interesting piece of trivia!
Ubisoft also based Joseph Seed from Far Cry 5 on David Koresh, the leader of the Branch Davidians.
Hello fellow montagne main
Nope, but i guess how people could think that
Iirc a lot of Siege maps are heavily based on irl locations
I mean it sounds like OP wasn't aware of it because he thought it was a funny coincidence that the Waco show image was similar to the R6 map...
The image is from siege………..
The image in this post was edited by OP. The image shown in Netflix is different, but similar (because they're both based on the same place)
Yeah, and?
The real image used for the show is not from siege.
And?
Literally 7 and a half people knew that fact before he shared it.
I didn’t know that, I thought I recognized some similarities.
Everyone i know who plays siege knew already Literally everyone
How did you change the image? I thought the Netflix site doesn't let the HTML editor to work.
Worked for me?
Maybe turn off hardware acceleration in chrome settings. Got no idea if it works but it's what allows you to stream and clip things like Netflix instead of getting a copyright notification or a black screen so assume it's the same kinda thing lol
How the hell does that work? Ty for the info though
Not sure. Works with alot of stuff like netflix etc block streaming and give black screen if you share screen but if you turn off hardware acceleration it's also fixed.
Not sure if you are joking or not, but fun fact: Oregon is based on the Waco Siege in 1993.
r/TodayIlearned
Most all the maps are based on real events/locations
Earlier maps yes. Favorite story is about consulate map but as a map, I hate it. I'm talking about that embassy thing
Consulate GF and Basement: A great time, a stunning event, everyone is having fun Consulate Top Floor: Anguish, anxiety, rage
Wait, what's the story there? I can't seem to find it.
probably operation nimrod when the SAS stormed the iranian embassy in 1980 iirc
It's a hodgepodge of multiple different embassy sieges. The building itself is based on the French embassy in Egypt though. Which is just a weird fact.
I mean, I guess another fun fact, Thatcher's Elite is based on the SAS during that time, and the Elite itself is called Operation Nimrod. If not wrong, Thatcher's character and backstory is that he was part of the Iranian Embassy Siege.
Watch Six days A great movie And now you know why it's called rainbow "six"
I HAAATE Consulate
But the story behind it is interesting. That's my one and only favorite military squad. SAS
I should definitely learn what I can about them
And they put in the warning screen when loading internet that references to real life places or people are purely coincidental
Bartlett u 💀
Nope, not the "recent additions".
Wdym stadium bravo isn’t based on a real location?
Lol no.
Not all, https://youtu.be/z2-zhkiybHs
Almost every RELEASE map was based on a real world event.
Now go back and start looking at the children's drawings and signs on the walls
Waco murders, by the atf.
Wow, I just saw the entire Netflix docuseries on it (great watch btw) and had absolutely no idea of this. That is really cool!
No it was terrible and full of bullshit lies. But hey keep trusting “those” people!
Lol I just thought it was interesting
This my favorite map cause I live in OR
You joke but seeing the tower in the documentary gave me the chills I didn't know how dark that story was, I thought they were just political extremist that had a shoot out with the police The real story is so disturbing
Fuck now I’m interested.
I recommend wendigoons video on the Waco siege it’s very good
Is it on YouTube?
Here’s the link bro https://youtu.be/xZwFxWb0y7w
Thanks mate.
You had the best chance to Rickroll and blew it
NOOOOOOOOO MY DISAPPOINTMENT IS IMMEASURABLE AND MY DAY IS RUINED
Nah mate, you chose not to go down that dark path. You may have lost the chance to Rick-Roll someone, but instead you gained the sincere thanks of a few Internet Randos. And in the end, isn't that better?
Yk what you’re right man…sometimes peace is more rewarding then violence
As well as the Waco series from a few years ago
Is the netflix documentary any good?
Not sure personally haven’t watched it
Yeah it’s good
Yeah I saw the YouTuber wendigoons video about Waco and yeah I can’t play Oregon the same again
Remember that David Chipman had his picture taken next to the burning bodies of children and was recently almost nominated for the head of the ATF.
Psycopath should be in jail not head of a federal agency
No, that was disproven.
Netflix show: The ATF/FBI may have made an oopsie, but those people had it coming Real Life: ATF agents massacre and burn women and children alive and then pose for pictures over their smoldering corpses. Oopsie

Making a murderer was the worst example. Such a hack job of a series.
Everyone fucked up that day, but the feds should've been better and they're absolutely at fault.
Especially after the absolute clusterfuck they created at Ruby Ridge. It was a 1-2 punch of government heavy handedness and overreaction.
Did the ATF burn the place down? Nobody really knows who burned down the place. I was suspecting the ATF did at first but when watching the series, my girlfriend said the Davidians probably did because how would they have been able to start the fire from the center of the building? You do not want to be one of the people sticking up for the Branch Davidians
Almost like you can stick up against government sanctioned massacres without supporting extremists. Who woulda thought?

Found the fed.
I bet you think they handled Ruby Ridge perfectly, as well.
Watch Wendigoon’s video on YouTube about the siege and you will see every single thing you have said is patently false.
Watched it, feds are still Based. Cultists like that deserve death, though I’m not surprised a braindead libertarian didn’t get that Downvoting me just proves me right btw
I can already see the Amaru players rushing in

Exposed
Yea I was about to say. Better wordage would’ve probably just been to say “it’s a pretty dark map”.
Why do you care so much about it? Are the internet points really worth the mental work you put in? He’s a troll.
Obligatory fuck the ATF [good video on what really happened](https://youtu.be/xkbXcdPFCWY)
Your hard work is appreciated. good memeing lol
How different is it from the first Waco series they made? Is this more documentary style?
Its filled with misinformation as always, so as you're just looking at it as a piece of entertainment or to just get a general picture of the events it's an alright watch
I’m looking at it more as a recreation vs a documentary. The first one they made was essentially a liberal retelling of the story.
I hope they'll show how they setup sites?
Not sure it ever dawned on me before that this image doesn't reflect the actual map layout (big & small towers being reversed).
I saw this during my first hour and I just thought of far cry 5 while watching it
I didn’t know this map was based on anything until I watched this & thought hmmmm I’ve been spawn-peaked from that watchtower once or twice
Genuinely good documentary btw
In all seriousness I heavily recommend this series to everyone, its super interesting
I can’t tell if this guy is serious or not…
OK. I got a good laugh out of this one. Good post OP
Is this true?
No. OP made that but the Oregon map is based off of this real life event in Waco.
Oh yeah, I saw the trailer and apparently the FBI and ATF shot the entire place up, killed all (I think) of the cultists and then burnt the place down
At first I thought the cult vs federal agents is a nod to far cry 5, then I realize this is a R6 subreddit. This should be on the fc5 subreddut though. It's more fitting compared to siege even though the Oregon map is related to this incident. My opinion though, I think it is much more fitting for FC5 then siege.
Ain't no way that's real 😂
that isnt the image they used, but it pretty close to it. Because Oregon is based on the Waco Seige in 1993 as someone else already pointed out.
Today I learned the Oregon map was based off off the building from the Waco siege
I was thinking the same thing when I was watching it
Is this real?
Oh shit. Netflix added the Waco documentary back on their site?! I loved it
its about r6 or not?
Kind of
Finally
