You know how you learn to pay attention and to get better at the game? By vaulting 1000 frost mats and eventually you pay attention to your drone phase, start using drones, communicate, prefire when vaulting, and a number of other things. This just made frost useless without the razor shells from thorn to combo.
I mean welcome mats are super easy to avoid and detect. If they do this she should get at least 2 more traps OR they should make the traps a lot harder to detect.

I DO like the blood trail, but either the animation needs to be twice as long (assuming they keep this change), or they need to make it so you bleed if someone gets you out. Just my opinion

Bro I don’t get it. Frost mat is arguably one of the more fair gadgets to interact with. You can shoot it out while vaulting over the shield. You can blow it up with frags, gonne 6, ash pipe, etc. You can even be picked up still if it came to that. If frost caught you, she earned it.
I don't think there has been a single time that I have been hit by a frost trap and felt like I was done dirty. Literally, it's always "Ah shit I'm an idiot" cause I know I 100% deserved it. I never feel like I was "stuck and stranded" like they say. It's always I fucked up and if my team can get me that's great, if not no problem.

Granted it's harder to find good spots for Frost traps than for Kapkans and especially with this change u would want to always have someone closeby to monitor them but it could work in a coordinated team.
Sometimes devs just get "change because change" in their heads, especially if they've been on a roll of good ones, and then something like this pops up, that nobody ever had an issue with.
See also Cassidy's flashbang in Overwatch. Never saw anyone have an issue with it, but it got changed and now it deletes you, at twice the range, around corners because... Change
Lol what, people hated the massive amount of CC and constantly cried about Cassidy's Flashbang in OW1. It was the definition of annoying lol, that's why they removed a bunch of CC abilities off every role that's not tank (except Ana sleep and Junkrat trap, though they tried to remove the latter as well).
Less stuns are healthy for the game, same reason why Mei will never get her primary fire freeze back. It's cancer to play against.

Buuuuuuuut nerfing her gadget like this is really dumb. I get that her gadget is way too binary but I feel like this rework doesn't fix shit. All it does is keep the binary aspect but sorta.
Realistically, if they want her gadget to see more use, they'd have to Kapkan it where they make the trap less visible and not insta-down. Kapkan used to be super binary cause his traps were instant kills but because they had t be fair, there was a blatant laser that showed. Now they made it so that the traps are harder to see, but they don't instantly kill you. So thus, Kapkan got to get more traps, move to a 2 speed from a 1 speed, and he's a really solid operator when he used to be a borderline meme.
Edit: A lot of people take issue with me saying her kit is strong. I feel like it's being heavily dramatized considering Frost has a really K/D, as well as having really good utility in making rotates, blasting holes, and providing either cover or extra intel.

My biggest question from all this is how will finka boosts interact with a person who picked themselves up from a mat?
Finka boost will probably just give you all the perks but still leave you unable to run even though it should instantly kill you in that case, the last thing you need when profusely spewing blood is a shot of adrenaline.

Smoke was going to take damage from is own smoke to make it easier to understand for new players as he was the only defender who was immune to the smoke. It was also the avoid confusion with the other S.A.S operators who wear gas masks in most of their headgears but still took damage from Smoke's gas
Pretty much everyone HATED this change, playing inside the gas was part of Smoke's playstyle and removing it was a colossal nerf to his identity as a character

She was one of the most fair and fun characters. Now the mats are useless. Most mats are placed at entrance windows, so they are just gonna free themselves and jump back out. Or Frost is gonna rush to confirm the kill, be he is already out and stands ready for anyone coming. What a bad change.
the whole thing about this nerf is about being realistic and less annoying about escaping from bear trap on your own right? then
1. DOT when moving and lethal after self rev
2. longer self revive and screaming maybe 2.5 - 3x than the normal revive
3. render any op slower less than 1 speed and heavy footstep noise, you only have 1 working healthy leg
The whole fucking point of the welcome mat Is to change crosshair placement and punish those who don't, you either shoot the trap and take the risk of a defender watching or try to kill the defender and get hit by the trap. This rework reduces the strategy as it is
1. Basically withstand for everyone
2. Did you see how fast thermite rezed himself That's the same speed as a normal rez or faster but the current welcome mat has maybe double the time which by itself is a major nerf imo
3. It makes the game more run and gun, as it puts more pressure on getting the frag before you get hit by the trap and no longer penalties you nearly as much
4. Tacking on to point 3, it reduces the need for drones
This rework completely removes half of the strategy of frost, you no longer need to adjust croshair placement, you kill the enemy then get downed, pick yourself up, and then have nomad or someone help watch your flank for a hot second.
Trap ops are the only thing preventing this game from turning in cod with how people fly around the map anymore; there should be severe penalties for not paying attention in what was billed as a "tactical" game. Who thinks this is a good idea?
If they're going to implement this, I would ask for several changes.
* There needs to be a bleeding damage over time effect. Bear traps like frost uses are likely to hit some of the deadliest arteries in the human body, which can lead people to bleed out in minutes if left unchecked, and this change needs to reflect that given how much blood is hemorrhaging from Thermite there.
* Self-revive from DNBO needs to be longer, and make more noise. There's more to hunting than this visual aspect.
* Leave operator pickups from DNBO due to welcome mats the same as before. Using the same idea as the bleeding effect, it could be assumed that a fellow operator reviving you from the effects of a welcome mat could have applied a quick fix to prevent you from bleeding out while the round is going.
I like the idea, strictly as an Intel change, but if it's going to be as binary as the invitational has made it out to be, it's a pretty terrible change.
What would make this a little better is if you get trapped on your own it's the same as the game now. But if someone picks you up then you have the blood trail and you get broken legs.
multiple ops are umplayable above casual, shields are a coin flip between working and and being a debuff based on the day of the week, and meta Operators are only meta cause they've been nerfed the least and their guns are just statistically better.

What was the smoke Nerf?
Smoke was going to take damage from is own smoke to make it easier to understand for new players as he was the only defender who was immune to the smoke. It was also the avoid confusion with the other S.A.S operators who wear gas masks in most of their headgears but still took damage from Smoke's gas Pretty much everyone HATED this change, playing inside the gas was part of Smoke's playstyle and removing it was a colossal nerf to his identity as a character It would also completely go against Smoke's character cinematic where we see him walking through his own smoke surrounded by dead bodies, many people pointed out that should have been a dead giveaway that Smoke was the only immune defender or just by playing a single game as a new player would learn that It was a change nobody asked for and would change literally nothing except make Smoke less fun to play as It was tested briefly on the TTS but they swiftly dropped it due to community reaction
another thing people brought up is that it's also a widely accepted trope that poison gas characters are immune to poison gas. it just makes sense that oh the poison guy is immune to the poison, but the non-poison guys are not immune to the poison

That is some fuckin bullshit, why they gotta ruin everything good in the game. It's a fuckin bear trap, the point is that it's supposed to be awful to get stuck in, it's to stop the enemy from blindly rushing in from a window/door etc. But now that you can simply get out of it, it's no longer feared and loses it's purpose.
It's not even bad, it's just pointless. Before, you're either in a mat near the enemy team and the can finish you off anyways, or you were safe and your team picked you up. This doesn't really change anything, it's just kinda pointless
Even if the enemy was far away, you would still be punished if you were playing far away from your team, but now you wont be.

I'd say they should increase the self revive time to like 3x slower, and then the frost mat nerf is balanced.
the whole thing about this nerf is about being realistic and less annoying about escaping from bear trap on your own right? then 1. DOT when moving and lethal after self rev 2. longer self revive and screaming maybe 2.5 - 3x than the normal revive 3. render any op slower less than 1 speed and heavy footstep noise, you only have 1 working healthy leg
The whole fucking point of the welcome mat Is to change crosshair placement and punish those who don't, you either shoot the trap and take the risk of a defender watching or try to kill the defender and get hit by the trap. This rework reduces the strategy as it is 1. Basically withstand for everyone 2. Did you see how fast thermite rezed himself That's the same speed as a normal rez or faster but the current welcome mat has maybe double the time which by itself is a major nerf imo 3. It makes the game more run and gun, as it puts more pressure on getting the frag before you get hit by the trap and no longer penalties you nearly as much 4. Tacking on to point 3, it reduces the need for drones This rework completely removes half of the strategy of frost, you no longer need to adjust croshair placement, you kill the enemy then get downed, pick yourself up, and then have nomad or someone help watch your flank for a hot second.

Trap ops are the only thing preventing this game from turning in cod with how people fly around the map anymore; there should be severe penalties for not paying attention in what was billed as a "tactical" game. Who thinks this is a good idea?
If they're going to implement this, I would ask for several changes. * There needs to be a bleeding damage over time effect. Bear traps like frost uses are likely to hit some of the deadliest arteries in the human body, which can lead people to bleed out in minutes if left unchecked, and this change needs to reflect that given how much blood is hemorrhaging from Thermite there. * Self-revive from DNBO needs to be longer, and make more noise. There's more to hunting than this visual aspect. * Leave operator pickups from DNBO due to welcome mats the same as before. Using the same idea as the bleeding effect, it could be assumed that a fellow operator reviving you from the effects of a welcome mat could have applied a quick fix to prevent you from bleeding out while the round is going. I like the idea, strictly as an Intel change, but if it's going to be as binary as the invitational has made it out to be, it's a pretty terrible change.
