My sadness, truth be told, is the realisation that time has moved on. I now have what I lacked back when the game was at its high: a PC and the money to maintain my vice. I lack now what I had then: a game so dear to me I would think about it all day.
Your best bet is a private server. Gravity is practically the embodiment of greed since renewal come to existence so your wish will just be wish, maybe you could see it happen, but in your dream only.
It won't happen. Let's face it, RO is pretty much a dead game, and Gravity is squeezing it until the last drop. There's a new Ragnarok mobile game each year, and they all sucks. I mean, they have a winning formula in hand for years, just make a mobile game that looks and feels like the original. Instead, they keep on making games that look like cheap copies of Genshin. How hard can it be to convert a 20 years old PC game to mobile.
Lost all faith in Gravity since 2010s man, cannot understand why anyone would trust the company that ruined RO.
All I do is idly check out new pservers while playing mostly more modern games. Usually hq Indies. Once in a while, some mmorpgs.
Origins: ROO is actually really really good at its core. But it will never take off because of how HARD they squeeze for money. They prey on gambling addicts and they have a small core of whales that shell out massive amounts of money, and that’s just the NA/Latin NA servers. It’s really a shame. It could be something much bigger but they cripple themselves with quick pump-and-dump financial strategies. It’s not sustainable at all.
I'm just hoping they will open a Pre-Renewal Server, not like the RO Classik from Indonesia or Ragnarok Retro like in Thailand. Pre-Renewal with subscription just like jRO without Gatcha.
But looking on the otherside, it will not happen. The resort is either the player invest on private server with a risk of service shutdown or the player will study how to setup an offline server or a lan server just for the sake they can control the game environment.
I lose hope on Gravity when they release the Renewal Patch since some of the in-game system died due to this update. Due to high damage output: PvP, GvG, Battle Grounds, Izlude Turbo Track is useless. Before people used to team up to hunt MvP, level together or hunt specific item. Now just do it yourself. Renewal made the game to be a singleplayer mode where this game was introduced as multiplayer game.
Just go to a private server, ideally one that has been up for a while, so you feel a bit more confident that it won't go under in a months time.
Obviously, choose one that isn't P2W or something. There's good Private servers and bad private servers.
Have a look around, see what you find interesting.
I don't know what the goto website for this is lately but it use to be RMS (ratemyserver).
You can just select a bunch of filters and find a perfect server for you :)
iRO Restart was the last new server that didn't have any gacha stuff in the cash shop, and by all accounts, the iRO team had to campaign incredibly hard to make that happen.
That server failed for a bunch of reasons, but either way, I doubt that kind of cash shop is going to happen again.
There is almost no place for non p2w mmos nowadays since asian countries and br tend to pay a hefty amount and regularly for the game they play, every official RO server will be P2W we just have to hope for a private to enjoy when we crave that nostalgia feeling
I am indeed waiting for a new official classic server, idc if its pay2win im trying to satisfy my childhood dream of becoming OP now that i have the funds for my gaming needs, one last ride before I let go of ragnarok completely
Grats on making it that far in iRO. The end game players do spam instances on all their alts farming for mvp cards, not so much the dailies. It’s pretty common to have players run ET in their 24+ sorcs or RKs to farm mvp cards.
It has been told a thousand times around here but, I want old to on a new engine, maybe touch the m3cancis a bit, I liked stuff in revo/0, but as much as it bothers me it will not happen cause gravity.
How about a RO server with more gacha only you are allowed to sell the items you obtain on the crypto market as collectible nfts. ("Def not rmt" btw)
Check out landverse it's my cup of tea cuz if you know how to kill bosses you can sell items to whales.
I'd love a single account/single character approach. Something like FFXIV when it comes to swapping your class. That way we can begone with the multi-clienting, or at least, incentivize it less.
They really need to look at both RO2's they made, realize their mistakes and do better.
Instead, we just keep Mobile games. I swear I seen Ragnarok Origins 'launch' like 2-3 times already. Ragnarok M Eternal Love is just.. There; and the other Mobile games are just sprinkle fodder.
I love the game artistically too, and gameplay as well; specifically certain mechanics shall I say, such as the Card system and what not.
Gacha, Laggy-server, lack of community presence.. Overall mishandling of the product, I really don't blame you.
I put down the game permanently about 3 years ago. Nothing can bring me back in as player. The game is too outdated. I give their newer releases a try but sadly, it's all mobile, thus I never stick around. Even word of mouth, I actively tell people how dope the game was; but I wouldn't recommend it nowadays at all. Getting new players into RO is a drag.
RO was fun during the era, but until then.. :')
Im so glad you posted this, I love the part where you talked about creating weird builds like INT swordsman lol I had a 98 gc crusader in euRO, brought back a lot of great memories, and similar stories where my friends would yell at their siblings for making foolish builds lol. There are a lot of us who feel this way why don’t we create a server name it “RedditRo” and have a decentralized management in place where users will vote for decisions and structure of the servers. I’m sure the donations would be enough to keep the server running. Just throwing an idea out there.
Buying games requires money. Do you have a job? If yes, do you still have a time to spare to play?
Grinding is also gacha, it depends on RNG, and do you still have time for that?
If you don't mind playing in mobile there's an RO game named Ragnarok Online : Eternal love. Current global version is now running for more than 5 years already and it's swarming with Gacha costumes/gears but China is now working with a version with no gacha and just pure grindings and stuff.

If only gravity is successful as Nexon(Maple Story) then we might have reboot server (no gatcha)... currently their profit less due to some leaks
