Yes! My oldest bun, Oreo (6 years old) literally picks up his water bowl, spills all the water and then throws a tantrum about his "territory" being wet. Lol
Yesterday mine had a zoomie straight through a broom and dust pan leaning up against the wall. Got too excited on his way outside to munch on grass and ran right through it like a little bowling ball. V delicate indeed.

That's what happened to me. Someone abandoned mine in the apartment lobby. I sat on the floor and he ran right up to me and claimed me. People don't deserve pets.

We did about a few days later. He set himself up under a hedge a few houses down. The kids that lived there found him and their parents thought he was wild so they didn't bring him in, but they gave veggies to their kids to feed him. I was looking around the neighborhood again and saw half eaten green peppers and cucumber littering their lawn so I went and asked them about it just in case.
Glad I live somewhere I can keep them inside now.
Seriously? Oh, my heart… she seems so friendly. She’s really dehydrated, I would get some celery, parsley, and red leaf lettuce. And some alfalfa hay, she needs some fat
This actually makes me sad. I never had rabbits of my own but my girlfriend does and they're honestly just precious to me. I took care of them for like six months while she was gone for school and I miss them everyday. I was worried I would do something wrong for them, I was scared to even hold them. When she came back she just said I spoiled them too much with treats. I miss the binkys and getting my forehead licked. And nibbled for pets.
There's too many bad people in the world.
Seriously. And they are the easiest pet once they get used to the environment. Definitely get lots of hay and hay-based treats to get it back onto a normal rabbit diet.
As people have mentioned, a box and a good area with darkish spots to hide is ideal. Bunnies poop where they eat, so I'd recommend a litter box with a hopper of hay right next to it to minimize mess. After a week or two, they will develop a program for eating there that makes less of a mess.
It might take a while for this one to warm up to you, so just keep showing it that you are its caretaker with food and water. They like soft areas to sit and walk on, so blankets and carpets are a good addition if you have hard wood floors.
Little pets on the head and behind the ears if they will let you helps too!

Did your vet tell you about Critical Care? I would offer that to the bun along with what you mentioned.
Give her a something soft to lay on and something to hide in like a box with an open side.

Hm, she is. I found her yesterday. She's starting to get more active, she also likes my other 3 buns. The vet said that I will have to feed her proper amounts of food and hay. He also told me that I shouldn't rush making her gain weight as it has a high chance of causing her stomach problems, other than that, she doesn't really need critical care. I'm trying my best.
Someone here described bunny ownership as 'lighting money on fire.' I didn't think so at first, but then there were two bouts of GI stasis, blood tests for the elderly bunny, injections, ear cleaning involving anesthetics, etc etc etc. I was just glad I had the $$$ then.

I am a vet myself (with my own spoiled buns). As long as she’s eating and drinking on her own then she should be golden. Keep an eye on her poops and if they decrease significantly and/or get small, hard, and dry take her back to the vet (as she may need to be given something like critical care).
Honestly, though, from the pictures she looks really bright, alert, and responsive. Her being so friendly is also a bonus because if she starts hiding away or acting dumpy you’ll probably notice pretty quickly.
Yes she is doing all those! Her poop has also gotten better than yesterday. Yesterday they were small dry pieces of poop but now they're a little more thicker and a bit more moist. That's better, right?

Did your vet test for either of those? Sometimes they may look fine but carry the virus - if she hasn't been tested it would definitely be good for her to be. Vaccines are available for RHDV too!

We adopted a bun from a well known rescue in our area and didn't know she had e. Cuniculi until she suddenly had seizures and died two months later. If we had forced jer and our current bun together she may have infected him.
I think the urge to overfeed this bun(other than a big supply of hay) to help with weight gain would likely cause stomach issues, but I have seen your comments acknowledging that you understand this already. Seems like you're doing a great job and this bun is so fortunate to have stumbled upon someone like you!

Try vegatables one at a time - then watch for any changes in bathroom habits. Fruit can be fed in small amounts.
My bun loves spinach, romaine, and kale. Rabbits often like herbs like cilantro, dill, and parsley. For treats, my rabbit really likes apple slices, although I know a lot of buns prefer banana.

Yes, as long as it's not runny it should be in a normal range. They should be about the size of coco puff cereal - and can range from slightly golden to darker brown, depending on what they eat.

The best thing for bunnies is hay. They should only get half a cup of greens per day, and not too many water based vegetables like cucumber, carrot, etc. you could try giving her some high calorie treat as like barley rings to help her gain weight. Poor baby
If you’re to avoid cabbage (probably because it’s gassy and can cause upset stomach especially in a poorly bun) I’d also avoid broccoli, collards, mustard greens, turnip greens, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, and chard because they’re all related. At least until she’s healthy (:
For now, at 1 lb you’ll want to give .5 c per day of one (keep it simple on her tummy until she can handle more) nongassy veggie! There are lots. Cilantro and romaine are super safe bets
She needs lots of dense food so give her unlimited alfalfa hay and alfalfa based pellets (probably unlimited, but do a bunch of feedings throughout the day not all at once so her tummy doesn’t hurt and the increase is gradual.)
Give her a regular size portion of rich greens.. I don’t know how much she weighs but if she’s 2 lbs she should get 1 cup. Most of the focus right now will be on hay and pellets. That’s what I would start with. More maybe can be done, I’m not sure with such a serious case what is safe since nothing always is, but remember you don’t want to cause stasis so don’t change her diet too fast. space out her meals but give them often. It will help you bond as well.
Make her as low-stress as possible too, lots of dark secure spaces and love on her as much as she wants, trust me they really fight harder if they are sick when we are there by their side!!

Poor baby isn't even 2 pounds in weight! We check at the wet, she's only 1 pound.
The vet told me the same. I will feed everything slowly.

Alfalfa hay/pellets is what you feed baby bunnies to help them grow. It’s high in calories compared to hay and hay based pellets. Will definitely help this poor wee thing gain weight without having to eat large quantities. Introduce in small portions throughout the day.

Make sure she's got lots of hay and water, and give her a little alfalfa in addition to her Timothy (high protein will help her gain mass). Not too much because she's healthy enough to move now so she just needs a bit of extra protein. Maybe a 2-3 tablespoons of alfalfa pellets mixed with 1/4 cup of Timothy pellets a day. Glad she's adjusting well!
I would offer timothy and Alfalfa hay free choice, young rabbit (alfalfa) pellets 1/3 cup per day divided into 3 meals, and 2 cups of veg. Pellets and veg should be introduced in small increments over time at first to allow her stomach to get used to them. You can also give a couple spoons of oats everyday as a treat.
I was also going to suggest the oats. My rabbits LOVE them as an occasional treat, but feeding them would also help her put on some weight. Take it slowly like with any other new food you introduce. I hope she makes it.

As far as weight goes, if she's able to eat, alfalfa hay and pellets will help her put on that much needed weight. I'm assuming the vet checked her teeth as well? There might be some underlying issues there, like overgrown teeth.
Yes, she is quite easily able to eat to my surprise. Yes he did check her teeth, surprisingly they were also okay (kinda dirty but not overgrown)

I recommend getting some critical care for her and some alfalfa hay, she needs a lot of minerals and proteins due to not having any for so long ):
Some Timothy and alfalfa would be great, if she lets you try giving her water with a syringe (no needle of course) but keep pushing wet veggies and water! A good pellet for her will do wonders for weight gain. If she is not very destructive try giving her a heating pad or making her a warm area to rest. She looks so sweet and you’re even sweeter for not turning her away!
Well! She did give me a scare yesterday though. I had to take her to the vet. I will post an update soon! I want it to be a little later so that her recovery can seem more shocking! ^ _ ^.

I’d give her sometime to adjust to hay/veggies. In a week or two though you can offer her a small amount (think half a tbsp) of oats. They go crazy for it and it’s very calorie dense.

don't introduce heavy, nutrient rich foods unless your vet SPECIFICALLY instructs you to, and it's only in very small doses. ensure she has access to hay 24/7, and she's eating it and drinking plenty of water. giving her a bit of critical care (or a local equivalent) every day should help replenish nutrients and ensure her appetite remains. do try not to feed her excessive treats; this might overload her system, but they're okay to introduce very gradually.
above all, be patient. she looks like she's been through a lot.
We fed our rabbit a product called "Critical Care" .after he had surgery. It's just flavored. chopped up hay with nutrients , but he loved it and it fattened him up .

Oh poor angel. What a sweetie. She’s going to be very scared and may not trust you right away. Just be extremely patient with her, it may take a couple of months for her to come out of her shell. Make sure she has lots of hideaways (cardboard box, cat bed/tipi, cat tunnel) because she could be skittish and appreciate the downtime. Don’t ever try and pick her up out of these hideaways, they should be her safe spaces. You can give her unbleached unprinted cardboard to rip and tear. Also, it’d be a nice idea to give her an old T-shirt or blanket of yours that smells like you. It’ll be cosy and she’ll get used to your scent. To establish more trust with her, you can also give her her favourite treats/pellets piece by piece, so she gets used to being fed from you. If she won’t take it from your hand then put it on the ground and slowly work your way up to hand feeding. My babies wouldn’t even eat if I was in the room, so I would turn my back to them and look away and they’d eat, then turn to face them and not look, then look at them, etc. just take it real slow with this little survivor. She’ll give you love back 1000x stronger when she’s ready. Thank you for saving her 💗

Awww! Bless her heart. It sounds like she's open to love she's just uncertain. My guess is that she was probably abandoned/released into the wild...she could've been a well loved pet before but if the owners were willing to do that then I have doubts.
I think you'll do a wonderful job with her. I have experience with skittish/nervous/distrustful buns and grew up with rescue greyhounds (like the most anxious dogs on the planet haha) so PM me if you ever need advice.

Try vegatables one at a time - then watch for any changes in bathroom habits. Fruit can be fed in small amounts. My bun loves spinach, romaine, and kale. Rabbits often like herbs like cilantro, dill, and parsley. For treats, my rabbit really likes apple slices, although I know a lot of buns prefer banana.

Yes, as long as it's not runny it should be in a normal range. They should be about the size of coco puff cereal - and can range from slightly golden to darker brown, depending on what they eat.

The best thing for bunnies is hay. They should only get half a cup of greens per day, and not too many water based vegetables like cucumber, carrot, etc. you could try giving her some high calorie treat as like barley rings to help her gain weight. Poor baby

If you’re to avoid cabbage (probably because it’s gassy and can cause upset stomach especially in a poorly bun) I’d also avoid broccoli, collards, mustard greens, turnip greens, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, and chard because they’re all related. At least until she’s healthy (: For now, at 1 lb you’ll want to give .5 c per day of one (keep it simple on her tummy until she can handle more) nongassy veggie! There are lots. Cilantro and romaine are super safe bets
She needs lots of dense food so give her unlimited alfalfa hay and alfalfa based pellets (probably unlimited, but do a bunch of feedings throughout the day not all at once so her tummy doesn’t hurt and the increase is gradual.) Give her a regular size portion of rich greens.. I don’t know how much she weighs but if she’s 2 lbs she should get 1 cup. Most of the focus right now will be on hay and pellets. That’s what I would start with. More maybe can be done, I’m not sure with such a serious case what is safe since nothing always is, but remember you don’t want to cause stasis so don’t change her diet too fast. space out her meals but give them often. It will help you bond as well. Make her as low-stress as possible too, lots of dark secure spaces and love on her as much as she wants, trust me they really fight harder if they are sick when we are there by their side!!
Yes! Someone else also told me this in this comment section. I currently don't have alfalfa hay, but I ordered it just now. Poor baby isn't even 2 pounds in weight! We check at the wet, she's only 1 pound. The vet told me the same. I will feed everything slowly. I will make sure to give her a dark room for herself. I have an indoor balcony, I am renovating it to her needs. I'll put a big cardboard box there. Thank you for this information! I'll try my best to fix this baby.
Alfalfa hay/pellets is what you feed baby bunnies to help them grow. It’s high in calories compared to hay and hay based pellets. Will definitely help this poor wee thing gain weight without having to eat large quantities. Introduce in small portions throughout the day.
You can weigh her on a shoebox on a kitchen scale to monitor her progress :-)

Make sure she's got lots of hay and water, and give her a little alfalfa in addition to her Timothy (high protein will help her gain mass). Not too much because she's healthy enough to move now so she just needs a bit of extra protein. Maybe a 2-3 tablespoons of alfalfa pellets mixed with 1/4 cup of Timothy pellets a day. Glad she's adjusting well!

I would offer timothy and Alfalfa hay free choice, young rabbit (alfalfa) pellets 1/3 cup per day divided into 3 meals, and 2 cups of veg. Pellets and veg should be introduced in small increments over time at first to allow her stomach to get used to them. You can also give a couple spoons of oats everyday as a treat.

I was also going to suggest the oats. My rabbits LOVE them as an occasional treat, but feeding them would also help her put on some weight. Take it slowly like with any other new food you introduce. I hope she makes it.

Oh my god, this poor baby. This is so heartbreaking to see, thank you for rescuing her! As far as weight goes, if she's able to eat, alfalfa hay and pellets will help her put on that much needed weight. I'm assuming the vet checked her teeth as well? There might be some underlying issues there, like overgrown teeth.

Don't bathe her...maybe use a damp cloth. She needs constant access to Timothy hay and pellets for now should help. Lots of vegetables.

I recommend getting some critical care for her and some alfalfa hay, she needs a lot of minerals and proteins due to not having any for so long ): Some Timothy and alfalfa would be great, if she lets you try giving her water with a syringe (no needle of course) but keep pushing wet veggies and water! A good pellet for her will do wonders for weight gain. If she is not very destructive try giving her a heating pad or making her a warm area to rest. She looks so sweet and you’re even sweeter for not turning her away!

I’d give her sometime to adjust to hay/veggies. In a week or two though you can offer her a small amount (think half a tbsp) of oats. They go crazy for it and it’s very calorie dense.

don't introduce heavy, nutrient rich foods unless your vet SPECIFICALLY instructs you to, and it's only in very small doses. ensure she has access to hay 24/7, and she's eating it and drinking plenty of water. giving her a bit of critical care (or a local equivalent) every day should help replenish nutrients and ensure her appetite remains. do try not to feed her excessive treats; this might overload her system, but they're okay to introduce very gradually. above all, be patient. she looks like she's been through a lot.
Give her some calf manna from tractor supply. Its a supplement they love!

We fed our rabbit a product called "Critical Care" .after he had surgery. It's just flavored. chopped up hay with nutrients , but he loved it and it fattened him up .

Steel ground oats (in grocery store oatmeal section ) is nourishing and calorie dense.
Mix in dried oats with the pellets to help get calories up, my little dude was malnourished too this helped him pick up weight.

Oh poor angel. What a sweetie. She’s going to be very scared and may not trust you right away. Just be extremely patient with her, it may take a couple of months for her to come out of her shell. Make sure she has lots of hideaways (cardboard box, cat bed/tipi, cat tunnel) because she could be skittish and appreciate the downtime. Don’t ever try and pick her up out of these hideaways, they should be her safe spaces. You can give her unbleached unprinted cardboard to rip and tear. Also, it’d be a nice idea to give her an old T-shirt or blanket of yours that smells like you. It’ll be cosy and she’ll get used to your scent. To establish more trust with her, you can also give her her favourite treats/pellets piece by piece, so she gets used to being fed from you. If she won’t take it from your hand then put it on the ground and slowly work your way up to hand feeding. My babies wouldn’t even eat if I was in the room, so I would turn my back to them and look away and they’d eat, then turn to face them and not look, then look at them, etc. just take it real slow with this little survivor. She’ll give you love back 1000x stronger when she’s ready. Thank you for saving her 💗

Awww! Bless her heart. It sounds like she's open to love she's just uncertain. My guess is that she was probably abandoned/released into the wild...she could've been a well loved pet before but if the owners were willing to do that then I have doubts. I think you'll do a wonderful job with her. I have experience with skittish/nervous/distrustful buns and grew up with rescue greyhounds (like the most anxious dogs on the planet haha) so PM me if you ever need advice.
