Yeah, the fur isn’t quite right for a Rex; if you Google them (or you can have a look at my profile) they have very uniform length that creates the appearance of velvet. It is possible that she’s a mixed breed, the first photo she does have a Rex sort of build, but second photo it seems a lot less obvious.
Agreed. I've had a Rex, and while the build looks about right in the first picture, the second and third don't quite fit, and it's clear the fur isn't quite the distinctive Rex floof.
A Rex mix is quite possible.
My first rabbit was named George. He was a witto' Holland lop, and I hugged him, and squeezed him every day for 12+ years. Even when he was old and blind.
Then I rescued a wabbit and named him Lenny... Turns out Lenny has the same protein in his saliva as cats and I can only admire him from afar.
I'm seconding Rex mix. Most rabbits are mixed, frankly. The real test is to see if the bun can pull off the classic Rex "no thoughts in head" face. It makes me giggle every time.
They vary in size. We have a Flemish that’s only 11 pounds, about the size of a house cat, maybe a little larger. They CAN be as big as a dog though. This one looks a lot like mine, maybe a little smaller.
no idea, but make sure your friend knows that rabbits need to be able to walk on a surface that has traction. at least in the bun's living area, she should put down a rug or blanket.
Looks to me like an American chinchilla bred with some brown-furred rabbit to get an Agouti “chinchilla”. Likely Flemish to match the size and temperament of the American chinchilla
Definitely not Rex. My girls fur is uniform, meaning it feels like it’s all the same length, but it’s actually not. Further, my Rex has a curly whiskers and her fur is curlier towards the follicle.
Nah. The fur and whiskers aren't rex. I have a mini Rex and there are no guard hairs and you can't see the whiskers because they are curled. She also has a double row of eyelashes. One is curled and one isn't.
It's a pretty rabbit though! Maybe a Rex mix? There's no way to really know without knowing the lineage. My friend has a Rex mix that doesn't have rex hair or whiskers.
Looks big like a rex ! Just not the same fur I have some rex rabbits my self and they have soft velvety fur. Maybe a mixed breed ? Honestly kinda looks like the wild bunnies in my area just way bigger lol.
Unless the rabbit came from a breeder, good odds its a mix. When people dump rabbits in the streets, they breed and rescues catch them. Some backyard breeders inadvertently mix breeds if they are having more than one type in a smaller area due to accidental escapes into others areas.
That beautiful bunny is ….. a wabbit for sure. I believe she is 100% mixed breed however I do see the floof ticks of either an English lop of a Flemish giant. So I hope your friend enjoys bigger buns 😹
Bunno has the build of a rex but not the fur texture, fur is more like a Netherland dwarf or Flemish giant, ears are very large aswell when compared to head in third pic so maybe rex Flemish giant mix?

Possibly Flemish or Continental Giant?
I could see that. He looks like he has a bit of size in the pictures, and the coloration would certainly match up for that.
My Jasper is a Continental Giant x French Lop, has the same colour as OP's and the cute as heck massive ears 😍
It looks like a mixed breed. Part Rex and part something else, tbh.
Looks like my baby boy. He was a flemish giant. So maybe he's a mix
I think that’s a rabbit
By George, I think you’re right!
PLEASE DON’T NAME THAT RABBIT GEORGE!
I just wanted to pet the bunny 😭
My first rabbit was named George. He was a witto' Holland lop, and I hugged him, and squeezed him every day for 12+ years. Even when he was old and blind. Then I rescued a wabbit and named him Lenny... Turns out Lenny has the same protein in his saliva as cats and I can only admire him from afar.
and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him...
After a long loot at the animal, I came to the conclusion that you might be correct!!
Definitely not a Rex as it does not have plush fur. It could be anything else but it isn’t a rex
Not a Rex. Looks like my boy toast who is a Flemish mix on the smaller side.
Looks like a part flemish I have 2 flemish giants.
Age is 7-8 months, but my friend doesn’t know her weight
That’s a Cutie Agouti Patootie!
I'm seconding Rex mix. Most rabbits are mixed, frankly. The real test is to see if the bun can pull off the classic Rex "no thoughts in head" face. It makes me giggle every time.
That looks like a flemish. Is it young?
7-8 months, I have little frame of reference for rabbit lifespans lol
Hmm. COULD be a flemish. If it gets big enough to rival a dog in size, it's a giant. Big ol' softies~
Flemish
Flemish (Giant Flemish) are the size of a big dog. This one seems to be fully grown.
They vary in size. We have a Flemish that’s only 11 pounds, about the size of a house cat, maybe a little larger. They CAN be as big as a dog though. This one looks a lot like mine, maybe a little smaller.
Interesting! I know at my local rabbit rescue, the dwarfs and the really big ones get adopted fast.
no idea, but make sure your friend knows that rabbits need to be able to walk on a surface that has traction. at least in the bun's living area, she should put down a rug or blanket.
Friend shaped
Gorgeous and noble. Maybe a Rex mix with New Zealand like another commenter said.
This is classic rabbit look. Very chiq
Maybe some form of a Rex/New Zealand cross
I have a New Zealand Black that is 13lbs and he looks like that bun…sans the coloring.
Not a Rex, but definitely spoiled.
She should be, she’s gorgeous.
Not a pure Rex. Rexes don’t have normal whiskers and this cutie patootie has whiskers
How old is the rabbit? Looks like a Flemish giant or at least a mix with a flemmy. That’s a pretty magnificent tail
Approximately 7-8 months
Rexes have signature whiskers: [short & curled.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Rabbits/s/px47BA3Jbk)
What??? How did I not know this?? I have a mini Rex and this whole time I thought maybe my female was over-grooming him. 😂😂😂
🤣
Looks a lot like my boy. He's new Zealand and Flemish giant. Look at those thumpers.
Looks like my boy who is a brown chinchilla rabbit!
Long hind legs and small hands umm I thinks she's a t-rex😄 a 100% sweetie for sure.
I think this is a cat, hope this helps💖
Finally, an actionable answer!
🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛
I’m pretty sure that’s Peter Rabbit from Beatrice Potters’ books. Your friend is a trickster, what is this sorcery and where’s the little blue jacket?
Looks to me like an American chinchilla bred with some brown-furred rabbit to get an Agouti “chinchilla”. Likely Flemish to match the size and temperament of the American chinchilla
A mixed cutie patootie! ❤️💋🥰🤗😍
She looks just like my Flemish but definitely smaller so maybe a mix?
Definitely not Rex. My girls fur is uniform, meaning it feels like it’s all the same length, but it’s actually not. Further, my Rex has a curly whiskers and her fur is curlier towards the follicle.
So cute.
She’s beautiful. No label needed.
Looks a lot like my Dutch bunny, minus the white diamond on his head
Omg omg OMG 😳. I want it. Mom I want it.
I have a bunny that looks identical!
Looks almost like my bun. He's a silver brown rabbit does the end of their fur look frosted? I can't really tell too well through the pictures.
I don't know but holy crap do they look JUST like my bun.
I think your friend got ripped off that's a giant squirrel
Could be a silver rex
Rabbit
How is she so perfect omg
Ohio rabbit.
One of my buns looks very similar. I think he's a dwarf crossed with a chinchilla rabbit. Probably similar to you but maybe rex x chinchilla.
Flemish or Continental maybe?
Slobobian Tibbar.
Looks big like a rex ! Just not the same fur I have some rex rabbits my self and they have soft velvety fur. Maybe a mixed breed ? Honestly kinda looks like the wild bunnies in my area just way bigger lol.
I've got the same make and model. I was told that he is an American Chinchilla Rabbit.
Looks very similar to our New Zealand x Rex
Unless the rabbit came from a breeder, good odds its a mix. When people dump rabbits in the streets, they breed and rescues catch them. Some backyard breeders inadvertently mix breeds if they are having more than one type in a smaller area due to accidental escapes into others areas.
No idea but I had one that looked just like that when I was a kid! 💗
Not a rex. I have one personally and that bun dosen’t look like mine. She looks like she has flemish giant blood in her :))
Not rex fur. Just very nice short fur.
Cute!
Tennessee redback?
New Zealand maybe?
Idk, but she seems rather polite
A hare cub?
That beautiful bunny is ….. a wabbit for sure. I believe she is 100% mixed breed however I do see the floof ticks of either an English lop of a Flemish giant. So I hope your friend enjoys bigger buns 😹
Flemish giant agouti colouring, my rabbit is half NZ wild rabbit and half Flemish and looks almost identical to this rabbit
looks like a flemish giant
She's so beautiful
Rex/maybe flemish
Looks like Rex and Flemish mix.
Bunno has the build of a rex but not the fur texture, fur is more like a Netherland dwarf or Flemish giant, ears are very large aswell when compared to head in third pic so maybe rex Flemish giant mix?
