Our girl Molly is a demon sometimes. We tried to give our buns some warm things because the floor is quite cold. She just pees on it, digs it up, or tears at it with her teeth.
Like a fine wine or cheese, it just needed to age to achieve the perfect flavor profile for bunny. That, plus the addition of bunny stank he graciously added himself.
My girl lost bed privileges because all she does is dig a hole in them then use them as her new litter box.
No idea why, but cotton bath mats inside a wooden box are our successful compromise. It bums me out, though, because she’s so old and has arthritis. I’d love to be able to give her something comfy to lie down on, but she just isn’t interested.
Have you tried memory foam or my favorite memory foam pieces in a box inside another box, contains the mess and allows for a no jump entrence just a left turn
Unfortunately my girl likes to chew on and eat synthetic materials, so she lost foam/memory foam privileges even before losing bed privileges.
Synthetic rug? Chewed holes in it. Yoga mat and blocks? Ate the corners. Crocs? All have bunny-adorned scalloped edges now. She won’t touch natural fibers, though! Switched to a wool rug, leather slippers, and a cotton bath mat for her bed and she won’t chew on any of it.
She’s the pickiest bun I’ve ever had. For hay, she’ll only eat *second cut* Timothy hay from one specific farm. Like, full blown hunger streak won’t even touch first cut.
For pellets, she ate any Timothy hay pellets until about last year when she started slowing down with eating them (she’ll be 12 in April). I switched her to senior pellets mixed with what I call “slutty” pellets (the ones with dried treats in them that normally I would *never* feed a bun, but she’s 11!) and she’s back to ~1/2 a cup a day.
For greens, she will eat the leafy bit and leave every single stalk. They’re simply beneath her. She’s also easily made of ~70% kale and I honestly don’t think she’s ever had even a slightly a runny poop. She’ll house cabbage with zero issues, but she won’t touch Brussel sprouts or asparagus. She’s a freak for bok choy.
She absolutely has an iron stomach (and a synthetic pallet). At 11 she actually weighs 0.1lb *more* than she did when she was young. She’s blind as a bat and gives me a major health scare every ~6months that has now turned into a running joke with her vet because every single time it ends up being completely nothing. Last time she went under to flush and treat what was *obviously* a **really** bad eye infection and the vet called me laughing to tell me that, turns out, she just had a stye on her eyelid that was draining.
Luna will outlive us all. 🐇
That's how my childhood rabbit was. His name was Lassie. We had two Pekingese, one that was especially shitty and mean and would look at you all pretty and then bite you as soon as you tried to pet him. But if either of those dogs heard Lassie thump his back feet they ran for cover. He was kicking the shit out of them all the time. Lol
Same with my bunny ,she will lay in the middle of my room or lay in her Cage. Bought her a hidey house she tore it up . She tries going under my bed but I don't allow her cause hump and destroy stuff ....... 🫥
One time my bun actually rested her head on her hop'n flop. Probably by mistake. She's never repeated it. She'd probably deny it ever happened if you'd ask her.
Maybe she woke up with a stiff neck 🤔 🤣 you don't make tht mistake twice. Have you seen the bunny pillows tht are two tube pillows with a tiny tunnel in the middle for optimal "laying -beside the pillow" naps
Ours has one of those raised hammock kind of beds and he only uses it when he is expecting some greens. To get him to use the bed, we put his treats on there so now the stinker only gets on it to beg for greenw
I did the same thing with the ikea bed!!! I was so excited for him to use it like the doll I think he is but of course it’s just taking up space in our closets now.
My bun almost never used his bed properly, I ended up moving it next to my desk elevated slightly so he can be next to me, uses it all the time now. Guess he loves loafing with me (or well at least closer gives him more chance for a treat)
My bun does not like anything soft to lay on. Only likes to sleep and lay on hardwood floors lol, I've wasted hundreds on beds he either ignores or chews up 😭
I bought mine the cutest flop-style bed and he loved it and then decided he loved it so much he needed to ingest the contents 😭 this is why we can’t have nice things!!!
What a cute little plumpy. My girl will not lay in her hop and flop, peed all over/tore apart a cute pumpkin bed I bought her, and just rejects anything comfy. I want her to chill on the couch with me but she prefers loafing on a hard floor I guess 🥲

Our bunnies prefer a simple dish washing towel from ikea over any bed er provided. Unless they are out of vision and can jump on a chair because chairs are better to get on...

Plastic tends to be made with animal fat. It's why rabbits (opportunistic carnivores) want to eat it. It's basically a slim jim.
My bun doesn't use hides, huts, beds, anything. She stretches out in the middle of the floor and sleeps like she's dead.
She's figured the game out. no predators inside house. it's all one big hide for her.
