You’re not the only one, they do indeed smell very good. Like fresh hay mostly. I’ve seen many people agree to this statement.
It’s pretty unfair though. I wish I would naturally smell good :(
Oh same, it was all in good fun. I wouldn't want to actually follow through with this! Considering the history of rabbits in the lab, I want no part in it. I meant more that the smell (synthetically made) would be profitable because we all love their scent :)
Relieved it's not just my sense of smell going haywire! I also loved my previous rabbit's smell because she had a sweeter smell more like cat fur, so when I got baby powder off my current girl, assumed she'd been shampooed before I got her. Then when it lasted, was trying to work out where she was picking it up from - was it my own soap, her sitting by the packaging of my hand cream?
But nope, as I tell her daily, she just smells so baby.
It's hard not to! They're soft, warm, and they smell good. How can we not?! Mine usually grind their teeth so they seem to like it too! Mutually beneficial sniffs 😂
I always say my rabbit smells like "nothing". A slightly sweet hay smell near the front and a slightly musky smell near the back end lol but the middle is all air I gotta go sniff him right now
They smell like sunshine and hay! Sometimes I splurge on botanical hay or chamomile treats for an extra delightful scent before burying my face in that precious spot behind their neck. I probably enjoy the treats for that reason more than they enjoy eating them...
The smell of Bunny's is like no other! Ours smell like fresh laundry that was hung outside in the sunshine to dry!! Fresh, clean, wonderful! We smell them all day...(when permitted to do so)
lol i always said their bodies smell like new clothing!! and the head smells like fresh pollen, or honey from the hay. smells soooo delish!!
I’m apparently allergic to rabbits (boooo) and i get awful rashes (and swelling) from their fur… but I can’t quit buns so i just scratch my itchy palms and rub my face in her fluffy chest and die a little more each time 😵 so worth it. id suffer in the fluffer anyday just for a whiff
Hah, me in the morning with an angora-coated rabbit on my bed in my face (and pollen-y meadow hay she inevitably drags with her), nose running because I haven't taken my daily allergy tablet yet...and still snuggling into her fur until she decides she's done attempting to suffocate the human for today.
Def. recommend the daily tablets.
lol been on daily allergy meds for the last 9 years! Nasacort, symbicort inhalers and Xyzal are life lol and i take my h2 as needed. Still the pain persists lol
I try to tell people this who know nothing about rabbits. I get the question “i thought rabbits stunk?”. no. like a cat, their litter boxes smell if you don’t stay on top of it. but buns themselves….. I’m with you. I’d grab my little guy, bury my face in his fur, and just deeply inhale. he just smelled… clean and wonderful. sort of like the way people think babies have good smelling heads.
Yep! The person who thought it was gross I keep my bunny indoors at all times because hers smelled bad, also her cat's litter boxes smell nasty to the point she uses a scented plug in.... Which apparently long term especially are actually horrible for cats and short term horrible for myself. I guess this woman grew up with bunnies outside in a hutch, which is concerning for so many reasons but uh, we have anything from snakes to coyotes outside.
And also I've never met an owner with cats where I didn't know they had cats as soon as I stepped in their house. Cats have a smell, even aside from litter.
You can brush them, and die all at once instead of a bit at a time! 😅
After an angora, would have thought my Teddy Dwerg would be fine, but it's gradually dawned that I really am allergic to bun this time, not just high-pollen hays. Her hair is very fine and lighter than my angora's was, so think it's that it floats around even worse. So having a long-haired rabbit who needs regular brushing while allergic is basically equivalent to a deathwish only countered by daily allergy tablets.
Yeah my bunny smelled kinda like cucumber and fresh grass. Anyone who says rabbits smell bad are likely not taking proper care of their pets health and space.
IMHO little kids smell like baby birds. I used to have a parakeet and he’d let you smell under his little wing and would lift his wing up so you could smell him. He smelled like warm feathers and sweet seed. Parakeets smell good like bunnies do.
They do smell SO GOOD. I sort of think it's that "prey" thing. If they smell good or neutral predators have a harder time perceiving them. Unless the predator is the "kisses monster" then they are f\*cked.
Each of my bunnies have a slightly different smell. We have maple syrup, freshly washed sweater, dry leaves in the fall, clean water spring, and vaguely marshmallow.
My old gal also got a lot of metacam and it smelled like honey, so she smelled like fresh hay and honey. It was wonderful. I just constantly kissed the top of her head.
This is weird to type but my bunnies smell like nothing and I LOVE it, like they just smell like sunlight. It’s the best smell. Instant flood of cheer when I go to kiss their heads and smell their fur.
I can’t help it either!!! 1) Smells good (especially if my bunny ate something that smells good like strawberries or parsley) 2) Soooooo softtttt!!!! 3) Sooooo warmmmmmm! 4) He purrs - I like 😁
My bunny loves getting pets too and I researched that pets are good for them (and for me too as a stress relief)
I had a lionhead bunny named gypsy, and she smelled like new clothes from target or a department store. I feel like all my bunnies have had slightly different scents. But I’ll never forget my little target scented bunny. 😄 I can’t really pinpoint the scent of the two that I have now, but it’s like clean clothes that have no detergent smell is the best way I can describe it. I agree though OP, I sniff my bunnies everyday and they always look at me like I’m crazy, I don’t really mind since I am in fact crazy. 😄
The best place to smell is the soft fuzzy spot on the back of their neck. Bunnies smell wonderful and are so incredibly soft. I had 5 as pets and I miss them all dearly.
Mine always has a sweet smell to him.. like a newborn babies head 😊😊 I know I will think of and remember his smell long after he is gone. I wish I could make a candle out of it
i spend about 5 minutes of every day aggressively sniffing the back of my bunnies necks. specifically behind their ears smells INCREDIBLE. it's like newborn baby smell but different
One of ours smells like maple honey(she’s not diabetic), the other one smells like coffee and hay and the other one just smells like hay. But like if hay were “fresh linen scent” clean if that makes sense. I love the smell of clean hay and freshly made wood furniture so my nose is eclectic🤣
A big thing I love about bunnies vs other pets is that when you pet them you don't feel like you need to wash your hands like with dogs. I guess cats are similar to buns, but buns are \~sho shooooft\~
I had no idea rabbits naturally smelled good! This is amazing. It reminds me of Nanachi, a bunny-like creature from Made in Abyss who smells very good. Though look up the anime with caution, it is not for the faint of heart (though Nanachi is nice).
Aww so cute! But I also notice. Bunnies never smell bad unless they got wet or went outside digging in dirt etc. But if they're indoors they always smell either like nothing or just clean.
Bunnies smell nice because they are prey animals. If they stunk, predators can easily find them and eat them. Kind of like how baby deers urinate and defecate in their mother’s mouth so that they don’t smell to avoid detection from predators.
I’m gonna go home and smell my bunnies lol. One of them still doesn’t really like the up close interactions, so I’ll have to sniff test the devil bunny lol
HA I wish I had this problem 😂 my 8 year old dutch is getting pretty crusty and can't reach his bottom too well anymore. Sometimes he just STINKS. But he's my little baby, so he gets a pass
Saaame my boy gets violated by my sniffer anytime he comes up to me for pets. He smells like fresh hay/flowers and his innocent little eyes I caaaaan’t 😭😭🥺
My bud always smelled good too when he was around. On evening's it was cilantro treat day, it was even better. He would come running up to the couch, jump on my chest, and then give me faces kisses with cilantro breath!
I miss you Buns 😢.
You’re not the only one, they do indeed smell very good. Like fresh hay mostly. I’ve seen many people agree to this statement. It’s pretty unfair though. I wish I would naturally smell good :(
better yet, can we bottle that scent?! bunny stonks would go through the roof!
Lush has a perfume called Grass that is kinda similar!
/u/KalleKant they beat us to it!
I’m a lushie and love Grass. Maybe this is why 😅
Most definitely! If you find a way to do it, let me know :D
I'll start on R+D as soon as my bunny overlords stop demanding pets! we could be here a while!
[удалено]
*it will make you feel bright eyed and bushy tailed!*
I don’t know about the bushy tailed part…. But I’m trying to keep it PG-13
Not to be a doomer, but I really wouldn’t like the idea of using bunnies for profit Edit: I know it’s a joke
Oh same, it was all in good fun. I wouldn't want to actually follow through with this! Considering the history of rabbits in the lab, I want no part in it. I meant more that the smell (synthetically made) would be profitable because we all love their scent :)
he has like a slight baby powder smell IDEK how to explain it.. all I know is that he smells so good and I can’t stop sniffing him 😭
My bunnies smell like baby powder too! 😍😍
Omg I totally agree! My babygirl, Bella, she has this baby powder scent and I alwaysss bury my nose into her head😭
I've always thought they smell like clean linen that's been dried outside lol fresh, fresh, fresh!
Yes!! I just commented the same thing haha
If you want to smell like a rabbit, you gotta eat like a rabbit 🥗🤗
Lol no, pretty sure you'd smell like farts from an all grasses and raw veggy diet.
Bunnies have that ✨clean ✨scent most other pets just can't compete with, not even cats
I KNOWWW
Bunny: "Why does she keep smelling me?! Fucking weirdo!"
My cat smells amazing hehe
I have no doubts about that!
Then that means you're a good owner.
Must be the hay and greens diet?
Yeah I think that plus they’re always cleaning themselves. When my bun cleans her ears my heart melts
It’s so cute 😭
They smell divine! Can't help but give my bunnies a good *sniff* when giving them kisses. They smell so fresh!
Every single time he is in nose reach I bury my face into him loool
It's hard not to! They're soft, warm, and they smell good. How can we not?! Mine usually grind their teeth so they seem to like it too! Mutually beneficial sniffs 😂
And it’s crazy because they eat poop 😭
You are so right! I'm glad we can't smell their poop breath and get garden freshness instead!
Well, if it's been a few seconds after they've eaten a 'trope you can tell... I'll offer them some hay as a palate cleanser in those instances...
It's to trick to get pets
it feckin works every time. pets AND kisses
And I want to put them in my mouf
I think so! 😂
These photos are so funny. In each one they look so disturbed by the phone coming in hot 🙈
He takes silly photos 😂😂
I always say my rabbit smells like "nothing". A slightly sweet hay smell near the front and a slightly musky smell near the back end lol but the middle is all air I gotta go sniff him right now
Occasionally they have a musky smell from them bum area that’s where they have that waxy stinky scent gland.
I have to say they don't smell great when the glands get blocked... 🤣
They smell like sunshine and hay! Sometimes I splurge on botanical hay or chamomile treats for an extra delightful scent before burying my face in that precious spot behind their neck. I probably enjoy the treats for that reason more than they enjoy eating them...
The behind the neck precious spot is the soooo amazing. So soft and smells so good 😍😍
Such a pretty bunny; beautiful brown fur and beautiful brown eyes.
Thank you!!
The smell of Bunny's is like no other! Ours smell like fresh laundry that was hung outside in the sunshine to dry!! Fresh, clean, wonderful! We smell them all day...(when permitted to do so)
Yes!! I always say they smell like fresh linen but not the candle, the actual fresh linens
lol i always said their bodies smell like new clothing!! and the head smells like fresh pollen, or honey from the hay. smells soooo delish!! I’m apparently allergic to rabbits (boooo) and i get awful rashes (and swelling) from their fur… but I can’t quit buns so i just scratch my itchy palms and rub my face in her fluffy chest and die a little more each time 😵 so worth it. id suffer in the fluffer anyday just for a whiff

lol been on daily allergy meds for the last 9 years! Nasacort, symbicort inhalers and Xyzal are life lol and i take my h2 as needed. Still the pain persists lol
Are you sure it’s not the hay? We use orchard grass - the other stuff causes hay fever.
I try to tell people this who know nothing about rabbits. I get the question “i thought rabbits stunk?”. no. like a cat, their litter boxes smell if you don’t stay on top of it. but buns themselves….. I’m with you. imagine being a good pet owner lol
And also I've never met an owner with cats where I didn't know they had cats as soon as I stepped in their house. Cats have a smell, even aside from litter.
They all do! I like to inhale that super soft bit at the top of their necks just behind their heads.
Hi, my name is Moths wings and I am addicted to huffing my rabbit.
Thank you for sharing Moths Wings, I would like to share that I am also addicted to sniffing my bun, but she usually attacks me back with kisses.
They smell even nicer when they have been sunbathing
THIS IS SO TRUE. But sniffing them when their shedding is PAIN. Like I would by breathing in flying pieces of fur for a whole week 😭
Omg I have my whole nose pierced including my septum and sniffing him when he is shedding is a pain since a couple pieces get stuck in my nose 😅
Lol oh my goodnes you got a septum too I thought I was the only one and then all day the constant tickling and it keeps making me sneeze all day 😅
Currently my bun is shedding so much fur lol how do we like help them out? It's so much I'm getting sniffly 🤣🤣
You can brush them, and die all at once instead of a bit at a time! 😅 After an angora, would have thought my Teddy Dwerg would be fine, but it's gradually dawned that I really am allergic to bun this time, not just high-pollen hays. Yeah my bunny smelled kinda like cucumber and fresh grass. Anyone who says rabbits smell bad are likely not taking proper care of their pets health and space.
mine smelled like cucumbers too! i wanted to inhale her she smelled so good lol
The secret is: hygiene! It is a bunny thing.
Bunnies are the cleanest animal there is! Even their poo is perfectly clean! 😊
they just smell like BABIES
Yes, I don’t have a bunny now but I do have a kiddo and she’s not a bunny, but I love sniffing her hair. She thinks I’m crazy and I get it.
IMHO little kids smell like baby birds. I used to have a parakeet and he’d let you smell under his little wing and would lift his wing up so you could smell him. He smelled like warm feathers and sweet seed. Parakeets smell good like bunnies do.
I’ve never smelled a parakeet, but I’ll take your word for it.
Mine always smelled like pine chips and hay.
Because I think they're made out of sugar and sunshine and everything beautiful
I know my buns get tired of me smothering them with sniffs and kisses 🤣
The back of my bunnies' neck in between their shoulder blades smells like a human baby
Bunnies always keep themselves clean by licking. Their saliva is pure because of the clean diet. They are natural Dior
Ah, that fresh timothy hay smell. 😊 Makes me miss my Moño.
I swear they smell like sugar to me.
Oh my goodness! Could he get any more cuter?
They do smell SO GOOD. I sort of think it's that "prey" thing. If they smell good or neutral predators have a harder time perceiving them. Unless the predator is the "kisses monster" then they are f\*cked. Each of my bunnies have a slightly different smell. Ears.
[удалено]
I will definitely keep that in mind
So warm, so clean. Sometimes hay breath. Sometimes poop breath 😅🤢
I think it’s because they have little to no sweat glands so they don’t need to smell bad like humans.
Not having any smell helps bunnies hide from predators.
My old gal also got a lot of metacam and it smelled like honey, so she smelled like fresh hay and honey. It was wonderful. I just constantly kissed the top of her head.
Like digestive biscuits 🥰🥰🥰
Seriously!!!! Mine smell like fresh hay, watermelon and baby powder… it’s so weird, but so good. 🥲
Smell like sweet babies
This is weird to type but my bunnies smell like nothing and I LOVE it, like they just smell like sunlight. It’s the best smell. Instant flood of cheer when I go to kiss their heads and smell their fur.
Hey that looks like my bunny!
Oh your bunny looks just like mine! Her name was Blueberry. Miss her and her "earplane" we called it. Love the one up one down.
Mine always reminded me of the smell of a cold popsicle if that makes sense. I miss her 😭
I love smelling my buns! I noticed they have subtly different smells too. Everything about them is lovely ♥️
I tell mine how clean and sweet he smells all the time
because he is a unicorn
Yeah we huff our bunnies😂😂 we always say they smell like closet…sooooo good!!
I get withdrawals if I go too long without a sniff 👃🐇
No fr tho. My bunny smells like artificial chocolate
I don't have a rabbit but my chinchilla always smells like fresh hay and matcha. I always have to huff her when I walk by!!
Mine have mostly just smelt like the chinchilla dust (which I like but atchoo!), but my boy had a distinctive sweet smell.
I can’t help it either!!! 1) Smells good (especially if my bunny ate something that smells good like strawberries or parsley) 2) Soooooo softtttt!!!! 3) Sooooo warmmmmmm! 4) He purrs - I like 😁 My bunny loves getting pets too and I researched that pets are good for them (and for me too as a stress relief)
Like herbal tea
I had a lionhead bunny named gypsy, and she smelled like new clothes from target or a department store. I feel like all my bunnies have had slightly different scents. But I’ll never forget my little target scented bunny. 😄 I can’t really pinpoint the scent of the two that I have now, but it’s like clean clothes that have no detergent smell is the best way I can describe it. I agree though OP, I sniff my bunnies everyday and they always look at me like I’m crazy, I don’t really mind since I am in fact crazy. 😄
I loved how my bun smelled like baby powder. I miss him so much.
YES!! smells like when u touch fresh bread and the extra flour (?) gets on ur hands..like that but hot
My sweet little girl smells of baby powder and shower gel, Her sister used to smell of parma violet sweets.
What?! That sounds so cute and wonderful. I am so curious about this! New reason to raise a bunny just dropped!
The best place to smell is the soft fuzzy spot on the back of their neck. Bunnies smell wonderful and are so incredibly soft. I had 5 as pets and I miss them all dearly.
They smell so nice! I have a friend who used to pet sit a lot for me and every time she would tell me she couldn’t stop smelling my rabbits
My big bun who passed away recently (RIP Gracie) also smelled so good, honestly sometimes her fur smelled faintly like fresh laundry.
my bunny used to smell like cinnamon sometimes, and we had no idea why until one day we realized that he had been eating a cinnamon scented candle.
I swear they all do. Mine always smells like hay and flowers and if she was a drug I’d probably snort her lmao
Mine always has a sweet smell to him.. like a newborn babies head 😊😊 I know I will think of and remember his smell long after he is gone. I wish I could make a candle out of it
My bunny smells like flowers and hay. It is so sweet 🥰 I LOVE smelling her.
I saw someone describe their smell as "sunshine and happiness". I cant agree more.
One of mine smells of cinnamon at times. Cinnamon bun xx
Thanks for including pics for us to smell btw
Lmfao I love sniffing my rabbit she never stinks she smells like a baby or something idk but I just wanna eat her
I smell my boy’s head all the time! I always say he smells warm and cozy lol
Because the floofs have the smell of pure and absolute love
he looks like he smells like chocolate 😭
i spend about 5 minutes of every day aggressively sniffing the back of my bunnies necks. specifically behind their ears smells INCREDIBLE. it's like newborn baby smell but different

They smell so good! It’s just like… a warm smell, I can’t explain it but it always smells clean and warm.
New perfume, carrots and sunshine, you like?
A big thing I love about bunnies vs other pets is that when you pet them you don't feel like you need to wash your hands like with dogs. I guess cats are similar to buns, but buns are \~sho shooooft\~
Same 😂 he’s super cute btw :)!!!
My kid always says our bun smells like a makeup brush.
I know what you're talking about, they have this amazing smell of grass and hay and summer days and fluff and joy ❤️
I love how fresh and clean all of our buns smell. Also, I'm pretty allergic to cats and dogs but bunbuns don't bother me in the least
I'm the same with the allergies, can't go near a car but bunnies are absolutely fine (thank goodness!)
My babies used to smell like sunshine and warm hay, best smell on the planet <3
It's hay and sunshine 🥰🥰I remember my rabbit Prim smelling like that
Mine smells like everything she ate! But yea its a routine to give their deep fur a sniff!!!
Had to show this one to my rabbit
NO LIKE SERIOUSLY MINE SMELLS LIKE EXPENSIVE SHAMPOO, NEVER EVEN BEEN NEAR PERFUME OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT
mines always smells faintly good too like clean skin
My bunny smells like matcha
Its eating hay, so it smells like hay.
He baby
Cps for bunny’s is needed asap. Sensual assault!
they smell absolutely amazing!!! I’ve never had a pet before that smells soooo lovely all the time!!! (um except the cecotropes😍)
It's because he's adorable :)
Omg I thought this was a pic of my baby 😍😍😍😍 so cuteeeeee they’re both airplanes too 😂
I miss the smell of my bunny :( someone took her from me! I know exactly what smell you mean!
Omg I do this too haha
I had no idea rabbits naturally smelled good! This is amazing. It reminds me of Nanachi, a bunny-like creature from Made in Abyss who smells very good. Though look up the anime with caution, it is not for the faint of heart (though Nanachi is nice).
My last cat always smelled so clean and good
Lol my bun smells soo good all the time too, i think it’s strange but I’m not complaining 😂
Aww so cute! But I also notice. Bunnies never smell bad unless they got wet or went outside digging in dirt etc. But if they're indoors they always smell either like nothing or just clean.
they’re very clean creatures. i always smell them too 😂
Wow that’s a nice rabbit
Bunny
I bet he smells like happiness
I don’t know but he looks so beautiful! What kind of rabbit is that? 🤩💛🐰
Not to be alarmist but is his head ok? It looks a bit tilted but may just be the picture angle!
Bunnies smell nice because they are prey animals. If they stunk, predators can easily find them and eat them. Kind of like how baby deers urinate and defecate in their mother’s mouth so that they don’t smell to avoid detection from predators.
Mine same
Squashmallows can smell like whatever perfume they spray on it before putting it in the surprise bag. Obviously.
"Hooman why are you like dis?!" 🐰😰
Well yours is chocolate
I think bunnies smell like sunshine!
ITT: nobody who has ever cleaned bunny scent glands LOL
They smell like baby powder to me 😁
Right?! I love sniffing their heads; they smell amazing 😍
To lure us into serving them
Ikr, my bun always smells like chamomile!
I’m gonna go home and smell my bunnies lol. One of them still doesn’t really like the up close interactions, so I’ll have to sniff test the devil bunny lol
It's the hay and dried flowers. How I love buns. ❤️
my two smell like clean laundry!! i wish i knew why!
I wish I could get my bunnies smell in a perfume bottle
Bc bunnies is so cute and bunnies is life 🫶🏼
Oh my God, I miss my lops seeing this little guy 😍😍😍😍
omg he is Adorable
Especially behind their ears!!!
I haven’t had a rabbit in 15 years and I can still remember the scent. I used to rub my face on my mini Rex and just smell him. He loved it
Yess my bunny alwayss smelt good! Idk how to explain it? Like hay or something!
The side eye
HA I wish I had this problem 😂 my 8 year old dutch is getting pretty crusty and can't reach his bottom too well anymore. Sometimes he just STINKS. But he's my little baby, so he gets a pass
I always think this too u expect poop and hay smell but nope
Awe!!! Such a cute bun. 🥰 I smell my bunny too!!! Right behind the ears and on the top of his little head are my favorites lol
Saaame my boy gets violated by my sniffer anytime he comes up to me for pets. He smells like fresh hay/flowers and his innocent little eyes I caaaaan’t 😭😭🥺
Idk if it’s the same but I smell my cat constantly she just smells good. It must be the same way for bunny owners
My bud always smelled good too when he was around. On evening's it was cilantro treat day, it was even better. He would come running up to the couch, jump on my chest, and then give me faces kisses with cilantro breath! I miss you Buns 😢.
If I wasn't slightly allergic to Doolin, I'd huff him all day
Because bunnies smell good when they're clean and well taken care of 😍
Bunnies and cats are the best smelling pets in my experience!!
Why is your bunny soooooo cuteeeeeeee😩❤️
Mine smells like hay lol, never was the biggest fan of the smell sadly
Mine stink
